Team Fortress 2

Casual was the final nail in the coffin, everyone now either just plays on the same fucking popular maps that have been played a trillion billion times already, or they do play on a niche map but it's full of squeakers doing fucking conga lines while screaming memes in chat and nothing else. I keep getting the urge to play this game again but every single time it always ends the same way. I look for maps I like on community servers, nobody plays them or they don't take it seriously, then I try to play casual on the maps I like and I have to wait in queue for like 30 minutes and when the game is over everyone just fucking votes for the most popular maps. Do community servers still even have a "community" around them anymore? I remember back in the day going on several servers mostly because I knew people from there that played those servers, and certainly I don't see this kind of thing anymore.

I just miss when this game was good so fucking much.

TF2 was the game that got me into PC gaming in 2010. I'm 16 hours of playtime away from 2000, but I can't bring myself to reinstall it due to the reasons you listed. It's just not the same. None of my friends play it anymore and I can't be arsed to join a new community for it. I really miss the game. All those hours as demoman made me a top 500 Junkrat in Overwatch for a few seasons, but now I'm kinda bored of that game. I was primarily engi-main and I miss that kind of support role in this kind of game.

TF3 when?

The community, as goes with most games nowadays it seems, is more about the game rather than on the game in my experience. I feel like it has gone the way of WoW where the social aspect of the game has been replaced with mechanisms to appease the casuals.

>TF3 when?
Hopefully never. God knows how much Valve is gonna fuck it up.

Is there a decent Discord server with lots of players? I miss playing Dustbowl. There are at least 10-15 maps I've never even played by now.

>add a "join game in-progress" toggle like with MvM, so you don't join seconds before a match is over
>if the vote at the end of a match results in the same map, start a new round instead of resetting the server with that map
these alone would make casual a lot better for me. arena being added and full moon allowing halloween maps would be icing on the cake.

squeakers don't play tf2 anymore, it's mostly 30 year old furries

What happened to TF2 Arena? It's the only mode I ever played and no one plays it any more.

What are you on about?
I only started using Discord a little while ago, only for one game though, and I never have trouble finding strangers to befriend and play with. I think my question is legit and you sir have a dick that is equivalent to that of a common housecat, you catdick.

Both Valve and the community abandoned it harder than hydro. The mode isn't on the casual menu, and pretty much all community servers run VSH/Freak Fortress instead.

go back feggit faggot

There is a grain of truth there. In my view the squeakers and 30 year old furries seem to make up the bulk of the playerbase now. Then again back when I was playing this literally everyone was a fucking brony.

Discord just sucks IMO

Very unfortunate to read. What is VSH/Freakfortress about?

It "just sucks". Good argument bro. Glad you could contribute this critical feedback to the conversation. Catdick status: CONFIRMED.

How dead inside of a individual do you have to be to still be playing this game in 2019?

It's arena but one team consists of a single player who is an overpowered boss (e.g. Saxton Hale), while the other team is the normal classes trying to kill him

They just utterly killed the game. All those community servers, killed. All those hundreds of brilliant custom maps, abandoned. What a fucking waste.

people would still leave

VSH is Vs. Saxton Hale where one player is Saxton Hale, having fuckloads of health and can oneshot other players who have to work to take him down.

Freak Fortress based on those early 2010s gmod videos with Painis Cupcake, Dic Soupcan, etc. except I think the premise is the same as VSH

If any of my friends still played it, I'd still be playing it. Maybe there's still lots of groups of friends playing it. Why does that make them dead inside? Your position is murky, please elaborate.

F2P was the death of TF2,it was the end of support from valve

my favorite server slowly got took over by fucking furfags over years and there was nothing I could do

F2P was the first nail in the coffin really. It laid the foundation for all the bullshit to come that would eventually doom the game.

High IQ
Popular maps are the best but i agree community servers are completely dead, same maps always in casual.
Quickplay matchmaking was a mistake that killed all the good servers just to have a colorized emblem next to your name.

Heavy sandwich though.

A lot of the people saying the game is shit now are but stupid nostalgiafags or rusty stompers that can't deal with the game in this day and age. Even though new players still exist, almost everyone is reasonably decent at this point (at least in casual), so people get pissed they can't shit on everyone like they used to.

As if the game is dead, I think people are just sick of it. I still play sometimes, but I do so knowing it'll be in the same old 6 maps if I want to find players. The game could use some new maps, I think the balance is okay, if albeit devoid of some fun staple weapons like the Sandman or the Loch n' Load, and the artsyle was raped years ago.

It's not dead, but it's definitely am old grumpy, wrinkly game that must use a cane to walk.

This. A shit ton of casual zoomer normalfag redditors killed this game. Once F2P came out you got a bunch of noobs crying about OP items and sets that weren’t even OP, they were fun and added funny builds and playstyles. Valve then caved to theae trannies and killed all the set perks and nerfed items into unusable tier.
For instance, saharan spy set and dead ringer. Casual plebs cried about being 1 hit from behind so valve destroyed a really fun set that made spy an actually decent class rather than being the worst class in game.
Valve continually nerfed fun items to appease trash players that were getting pubstomped
while also not adding any maps/new items.

That reminds me. How long have people been bitching about random crits? I've only noticed this for about a year or so and I don't remember people doing this at all when I played this the most 8-6 years ago.

It’s still one of the best multiplayers in existence, the fact that it even has over 1,000 people playing just goes to show how shitty numultiplayer games are and how pozzed the devs have become

I've been bitching about since forever
Random crits are fair and balanced has been a thing for years

A while, no one complained initially, but then f2p came out and numales, discord trannies, furries and other faggots started to complain every time they got random critted by some guy pubstomping. Not to mention, reddits favorite tf2 jewtuber cries about it in every video he makes, so naturally they hiveminded behind this dipshit.

>numales, discord trannies, furries and other faggots
lol you summed the current playerbase up quite well there

>reddits favorite tf2 jewtuber
Who?

get the fuck up
