Atelier games are pumped out every year and it shows. Gust is still working on Atelier and other games besides Fairy Tail, so I don't see this being a huge leap in production values.

Of couse it did, it's one of the few shows with stablished RPG elements like guilds, quests and magic, the setting is literally perfect even if you don't like FT itself.

Not him, and I like the characters. But there's this sense of no danger with FT. Obviously the main characters aren't going to die, at least not in the middle of the story.
But there are so many times you can hype up "oh no, the master is going to die!" and then resurrect him. I think it happens like 5 times throughout the series.

There have to be stakes in a story about fighting, but people are more likely to come back from the dead than die in this one. It's actually annoying how easily some minor characters get killed off (God Serena) despite being hyped up while the main antagonist gets a happy ending.

Author tricked everyone into thinking the series had ended and ended up making the manga worse when he decided to revive old characters that needed to stay dead.

It's not like Gildarts wasn't just another repurposed character from his previous series.
Anime did have a different art style that made them look much more similar, though. But Shanks also looks completely different from his manga counterpart, so it's just studio character designers' fault.

The last few anime based arena fighters that came out were MHA, KLK, and then the upcoming OPM game. You can't honestly look anyone in the eye and say any of those were "narrative heavy" and deserved an RPG.

Only a few of those characters are the same design wise.
