Could they have made a more repulsive looking weapon

Could they have made a more repulsive looking weapon.

> Huge and blocky, completely unergonomic despite being an "advancement" of the AER9
> Has shit damage, despite once again being an updated form of the conventional laser rifle.
>Uses the standard laser rifle animations because Bethesda didn't want to make new ones.
>Takes up 75% of the screen in first-person.

Cool.

Fallout 4 has some of the worst firearm designs I’ve ever seen. The assault rifle and the pipe guns are retarded.

>Could they have made a more repulsive looking weapon.

>Could they have made a more repulsive looking weapon.

Attached: Fallout4_pipe_pistol.png (1651x862, 538K)

every single pipe weapon is way fucking worse

Yeah but pipe weapons are supposed to look like shit. This is supposed to be a cool, sleek high-tech design.

how the fuck is this even supposed to work

>it's okay because it's supposed to be bad
I will never accept this line of thinking.

It's not like you need any weapon except Pray'n'Spray and maybe missile launcher for boss enemies.

>There's hundreds of examples, of really unique and interesting homemade firearms, like those from the Khyber Valley, and even stuff made by Inmates in prisons
>Instead of using those as examples, they just fucking staple some random bits of junk together
I fucking hate this so much. They could have been so cool.

Have you not seen the concept art bits for it? I wish I had it saved to post here. It was going to be its own unique type of weapon until bethesda realized they could just make it a laser rifle clone with a different color beam.

Yeah you mean this?

Attached: ILCA.png (1020x1350, 1.33M)

bravo todd
looking at the concept art for fallout 4 makes me realize just how incompetent bethesda really is. there are so many good ideas that are either unused or executed horribly.

Attached: cffe8edcda91fc7fa02a486148269f62.png (1536x2044, 1.83M)

It's entirely possible to design scratch-made weapons that don't make me want to throw-up.

Attached: EA-tTQyXsAA8ICY.jpg (1200x1200, 180K)

All those underwater enemies and locations they had planned... the jetpack raiders, the molerat queen... Concept art is always better than the final product. I just wish the oceans that cover 40% of the map actually had a purpose beside causing lots of unwanted detours.

Attached: Modernization.jpg (1199x777, 157K)

There was an entire underwater vault planned for fallout 4 that got cut

Attached: 1988-1543818730-1438252479.jpg (3840x2160, 543K)

Overdesigned trash.

the design is meant to be easy for the Institute to mass produce cheaply and conversely difficult for others to reverse engineer.

Yeah but if weapons like that were put in Fallout 4 people would just call it a soulless Metro or S.T.A.L.K.E.R clone that lost its identity. The game is soulless regardless but that would only drive the point home.

Attached: Gladiator.jpg (1200x806, 301K)

There is no point in junk weapons in Fallout. It's established that WW2 weapons and even FN-FAL are plentiful and in good condition.

"Difficult to reverse engineer", yet the re-use the same mechanism and loading system as the laser rifle. If the Institute cared about efficiency and practicality they would just make robots to do their dirty work instead of perfected human synthetic clones.

Attached: Eerie Woodland.png (1198x664, 795K)

That's the one, thanks anons. Imagine if they had implemented half of the potential the institute had:
>anyone you trust could possibly be replaced with an artificial human by a shadowy organization and you might only find out when they shoot a syringe into your back that melts you apart
instead we get:
>Hurr, we're the institute and we do super science!!! Why? Uh... our motivations are complex, don't worry about it xD

Attached: 1519801365701.jpg (256x256, 10K)

>WW2 weapons and even FN-FAL are plentiful and in good condition.
There are entire companies dedicated to building new firearms and selling them in huge numbers

Attached: F23.jpg (800x600, 210K)

Nothing Institute had accomplished made any sense. They are comically incompetent even though they are the smartest people on Earth.

Bethesda feels that every weapon needs to be a quirky future-retro 50's design or some sort of gimmick. It was cool in Fallout 3 when they still had Adam Adamowicz working for them and creating awesome iconic design work. Not so cool now in 4 when everything looks like it's made of greasy legos.

Attached: Church.jpg (1200x900, 226K)

>assault """"rifle""""
holy shit this makes me so fucking mad

>WW2 weapons
Previous games already had modern weapons.

Attached: Fo2_Pancor_Jackhammer.png (162x66, 3K)

Not only do they look like shit, but they make no sense design wise. Pipe guns irl look nothing like that. Those are just garbage made to look like guns. They also have no reason to exist. There would be more than enough guns lying around after the bombs dropped and its not like people couldn't make new machined guns like the gun runners. You really think that in a post apocalyptic america people would resort to making guns out of trash?

>Huge and blocky, completely unergonomic despite being an "advancement" of the AER9
It's almost as if it was designed to be function over form because it's used by canon fodder robots who wouldn't care because they're cold unfeeling machines
Same with institute armor

Fallout Tactics arsenal was perfect fit for Fallout.

The Gun Runners in the Commonwealth aren't the sophisticated merchants that the Gun Runners in the Mojave were. IIRC there's no evidence that they have access to machining or even any connection to the aforementioned group.
That said I agree that pipe guns look fucking retarded.
This, it's cheap garbage for throwaway toy soldiers.

To be fair though ergonomics dont matter because it's meant for use by synths, so all that matters is functionality. But yeah, its retarded that its weaker than a pre-war laser rifle and doesn't make sense that they would even bother making them when they could just use the superior pre-war weapons

They added the pipe weapons because they technically only needed to make two weapons (pipe pistol and pipe revolver) and all the other "pipe guns" are just the 2 standard variants with different attachments. Cheap and simple for the devs to make.

Attached: Laugh.jpg (480x418, 44K)

They had sensible armor designs for Institute stuff and they decided to use plastic toilet bowl armor instead.

Attached: 4d184dd24479dc92db3463f8e2664e2a.jpg (1412x900, 290K)

It literally is supposed to be bad though. It's a makeshift gun made by poorfag wastlanders who cant afford actual guns, of course it's going to suck

Every single human member of the Institute uses the same weapons as the Synths. Since Synths are modeled perfectly after humans it would only make sense to give them weapons crafted for human hands.

Attached: Happy Arrest.jpg (1024x755, 154K)

Is there any company more incompetent than bethesda?

Beth is lazy. The fact that they had to design a weapon around the existing reloading animation and not the other way around, speaks volumes on its own.

>concept art calls it "machine gun"
>game file call it "machine gun"

There is a whole bunch of pipe gun variants in FO4 concept art and many of them look far better than what made its way into the game. Beth is stupid.

They had a fucking Neostead. How many games feature Neostead? KF and Tictacs is all I can think of from the top of my head.

EA

Attached: 20180719215624_1.jpg (1920x1080, 231K)

They look like they are made of cheap plastic and remind me of childrens toys.

>They had a fucking Neostead. How many games feature Neostead? KF and Tictacs is all I can think of from the top of my head.
Battlefield BC2 had it.

Blizzard

That's nearly a 1 to 1 copy of a water-cooled mg from ww1.

apparently the "assault rifle" was supposed to be a weapon meant for power armor users

I don't think it's ever explained: Was the combat rifle in 4 supposed to be a pre or post-war weapon? I know the assault rifle was pre-war, even though it's retarded for people to still be using water-cooled machine guns when infantry miniguns are widely available.

Attached: Combat Rifle.png (242x93, 18K)

They did not have time to texture actual assault rifle and renamed already finished machine gun. There are pics of untextured assault rifle, similar to chinese rifle from Fo3.

Everything is pre-war. Even pipeguns.

They can at least making functioning games

It was pre-war

Attached: 1509239045379.jpg (1920x1080, 406K)

Are there any weapons in FO4 that actually look good? I really can't think of any off hand.

Attached: 1554135978196.jpg (749x746, 151K)

Why is pre-war America using shitty makeshift WW1 guns when they have access to our own modern day firearms.

Attached: tcg.png (836x806, 975K)

Because the weapon designers in 4 are retarded, it's amazing how much 3 got right

R E T R O F U T U R I S M

Perhaps the hand-made rifle, because that's the only weapon besides the .44 that's modeled after a real-world counterpart.

That Railroad pistol was cool.

It's literally supposed to be a crude gun made from scrap. What did you expect?

At first I hated it and I still generally use mods to replace it with the classic design but I've come to appreciate this design

Attached: Vault22.jpg (1920x1080, 388K)

Sounds dumb. Why the fuck would some super secret shadow organisation be interested in replacing a bunch of nobodies out in the middle of nowhere. If Fallout 4 took place in NCR territory, then it'd have made more sense.

What do you mean? It's one of Hand-made rifle variants in vanilla Nuka World.

You can apply paint jobs to the hand-made, one of them being a flamboyant rainbow.

>Please tell me that doesn't actually spawn naturally
it does, it's from the raider gang called The Pack in Nuka World

Ugh... really... an AK? That goes totally against what Fallout stands for. Weapons like that break my immersion and they feel totally out of place in Fallout Shame on Bethesda for caving in to /k/ fags.

I hope this is bait

There should have been a class of weapons only usable if you were in power armor. The gattling laser, the minigun, the assault rifle. Also the "assault rifle" should have been called an LMG and when equipped, the water cooling jacket would hook up into the PA frame so that the water can actually circulate somewhere.
The laser rifle and combat shotguns are fine. The combat rifle being chambered in .45 (presumably ACP) is retarded. Especially since they included the M1 Thompson thing. I don't know what they were thinking there.
The institute rifle is alright. It kinda makes sense that a bunch of nerds would make a shitty, un-ergonomic gun. It's bulky and probably designed after the laser rifle because none of them knew how to make a gun. But they needed something easy to manufacture to send out with their synths. Using MF cells was probably a good decision, as they assumed the denizens of the surface probably wouldn't be able to get ammo for the weapons of their synths were killed.

That's a functional weapon compared 4's overengineered shit.

I'm talking about the fucking gigantic damage, that shit does more damge than a fat man

The damage in the stats also represents your perks that you have

Oh yeah. I don't know if it's natural but damage scaling in the game is retarded so I wouldn't doubt it. Certain sniper rifles can do over 2000 damage.

>I'm talking about the fucking gigantic damage, that shit does more damge than a fat man
Oh, it's vanilla, but I've stacked almost all possible bonuses. On top of it firing two bullets increasing damage, I have two stims on that increase damage, suppressor bonus from operator perk and atom's blessing chuggin at full force. Could have been more damage if I built up Adrenaline.

Oh damm, thank god, it's still fucking insane but at least it has some logic behind it

Why would it be bait? Realistic weapons don't belong into Fallout and clash with the serieses retro futuristic 50s theme. I blame New Vegases stupid decision to pander to /k/fags in a desperate gambit for a wider audience, since we all know /k/ fags only care about animations and models and not good games, for this obsession with 4s weapon design.

GameFreak

teehee

>a soulless Metro or S.T.A.L.K.E.R clone
but it's been that since fallout 3

I honestly get what they were going for with the toilet bowl armor, it's just that the modular armor system they settled on was a huge fucking mistake but they were too committed at that point to back out of it.

One of the biggest crimes is that the Deliverer is a unique model. I'm a sucker for realistic weapons, and I'd kill to be able to have that Walther PPK model with good legendary perks to use into endgame

Only reason im carrying it now instead of a revolver is because silencers are bonkers

springfield armory is in masshole. they could have been the gun merchant faction for the area.

You could argue Bethesda played it so safe, they hammed it with retro 50's styling and forgot about relatively contemporary firearms appeared in prior fallouts, even in NV. The art direction in 4 was awful

Except not at all unless you explain.

You can conjecture all you want. I'm talking about what's in the game.

hmm

Bethesda fallout has people scratching bye after 200 years, both 3 and 4 make more sense if they where set 50 years post war, even that's a stretch

>replying to bait

>"advancement" of the AER9
It was made by college shut ins. Do you really expect them to into guns?

New vegas was a good game though

Bungie

Bioware.

Bethesda hasn't managed to kill themselves yet, and most of their games are at least really fuckin good for modding

>retro futuristic 50s theme
are you retarded

This also clashes with the games setting. Despite being in the first 2 games and the NON-CANON Tactics, it shows how the developers didn't truly understand their own setting in the first place. It was Bethesdas take on the setting that got it right.

the original fallout games were turn based rpgs where you run around a big wasteland like mad max with scattered bartertown type settlements. new fallouts were 3d shooters where you explore the immediate area around a single ruined city. new fallout is just a shitty stalker ripoff.

well its either bait or autism
I dont care either way

Attached: FO3 Assault.png (2000x542, 539K)

I kind of disagree on heavy weapons. Weapons should have strength requirements which can be either lowered or completely ignored when wearing PA (something like weapon "mounts").
What should be done is reverse - some weapons can not be used while wearing PA. I imagine armored gauntlets aren't really suited for using guns with trigger guard. This could actually add to roleplaying and could be a weapon, like removing trigger guard and making grip thicker to prevent fmit getting crushed by hydraulic gaunlet.

This a problem that stems from 4's streamlining and removal of RPG elements. It's a shooter with numbers like modern Far Cry.

>477376570
>477377748
Play 3, nigger. Then cry about /k/unts and NV. And after you publicly apologized, then I will grant a (You) you crave so much.

I will never not be mad about the left handed bolt action rifle.

>7 pound ammunition
The only acceptable heavy weapon is a laser Gatling

You never need more than a couple missiles. Laser Gatling is ass.

>tfw people were giving me shit for being upset about no reloading or ammo types because you can "equip a mod"

Attached: 1450943763792.png (476x446, 87K)

That is a totally unique weapon design never seen before, so I can forgive it. Meanwhile, New Vegas has just uninspired, boring not-AR15s/not Armalites, not-Remingtons and a whole host of other generic Call of Duty shit. Nothing is unique about them

bruh thats a g3 you retard, its a real world gun
at this point Im convinced its bait

Attached: FO3 Chinaar.jpg (820x347, 74K)

hmm

Attached: 1556250827108.jpg (600x300, 20K)

Looks nothing like a G3

Attached: G3A4.jpg (600x300, 24K)

Why the bioweapon/power armor concepts didn't make it past the concept stages is beyond me. Well, I know why. Because Bethesda is lazy as fuck. But, I mean, look at this. The weapon at least is slick, sexy, high tech, fits the Institute's design theme to a T. The power armor concept's pretty cool too, but it goes better with the blocky rifles we ended up getting. It's still an improvement over what we actually got, which was just a fucking pure white X-01 "paint job" with an Institue logo slapped on the chest. No red accents or anything.

Attached: Concepts.png (1533x693, 927K)

never forget
"has to be able to use the laser rifle animations"
shame because that power armor looks cool
has anybody made it a mod?

That PA looks good and is a uniqe design at least. T60 is unnecesarily lorebreaking and just a T45d redux

>it shows how the developers didn't truly understand their own setting in the first place
Holy shit, how did I miss that...
>developers of the original games did not understand thier own setting
>but different developer, who made 2 games, with drastically varying designs does
The one who doesn't understand the setting they are working with is bethesda.
You're either straight up retarded or Todd himself. Or maybe Pete Heinz

Oh yeah
>crank-up laser muskets

I feel ya. Not to mention how janky the mod is.
I also don't like that need to use a workbench to detach a scope.

The reason for the Institute's weapons being "plastic laser guns" is because they needed to make the animations for all the guns consistent and reusable, and having a cyborg hand split apart and shoot syringes would complicate that.

IMO, Bethesda should set their next Fallout game in the Capital Wasteland again, so they don't keep wasting neat locations like Appalachia or Boston.

>next Fallout game
Why would they even bother. People are over Fallout.

dont forget that you never actually put any ammunition into laser muskets

>Bethesda should set their next Fallout game in the Capital Wasteland
Uh user... It's the next big Creation Club exclusive DLC for 4.
Also yeah, Appalachia seems neet and I'd buy it as DLC for 4.

>It's the next big Creation Club exclusive DLC for 4
wait, there's another DLC coming? what the fuck

its not a proper dlc its creation club

Your point?

Attached: eokapistol11.jpg (1013x618, 128K)

>I'd buy
>DLC for 4

Attached: 1364963122699.gif (163x118, 422K)

so how does that work? are they actually adding another area into the game, instead of just a random thing in the base game, and you have to buy it through their "Pay for Mods" system, instead of a proper DLC?

Someone certainly has! It's called InstitutePowerArmor or I-01, and is available both through Nexus and Bethesdanet for PC/XB1.
nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/18315/

i dont know what theyre actually making
but yes its paid mods

nice
i love helmets that just have holes like that

Bethesda doesn't know which end of the gun shoots. They can't design shit.

Attached: 1545660251809.png (349x174, 40K)

>it has a crank you need to workin order to shoot
>So you just crank it to charge it? Basically unlimited ammo, good for survival. Cool, very RP alternative to MF breeder...
>no, it still uses ammo
What were they thinking?
They weren't

Just download the mod that replaces all pipe weapons with Sten guns

I think the problem was the ugly art style they had for FO4.

>I imagine armored gauntlets aren't really suited for using guns with trigger guard.
Nah but this seems to contradict your point of having STR requirements instead of having weapons that can only be used in PA.
In Fallout 4, I think we get the best representation of what PA was supposed to be. It's literally a small mech, a walking tank suit you have to climb into. Your hands don't actually manipulate anything besides servos which in turn operate the mechanical hands of the suit. They hands are far larger than a normal man's hands, and as such, operating regular infantry weaponry in the suit would be nigh impossible. It also seems to me like there are weapons in F4 designed around use in PA. Large weapons or weapons that should be too heavy for a person to operate like the minigun or assault rifle. The assault rifle is especially bizarre in that it clearly has a water cooling jacket and yet it also clearly has nowhere for the water to go.
Modifications of these heavy weapons to be used while not in PA should have been a thing, but it also should have reduced their effectiveness. You can strip them down so they're light and nimble enough to use outside of PA, but also worse to some extent because you stripped them down.

ppsh, heck of a shotgun

i think at some point they were thinking that it would be like a bolt-action laser rifle, in that it has a physical mechanism
I dont think they thought too hard about it though

I liked the redesign of the 10mm and the laser musket is kinda dumb, but cool. Like they re purposed a regular laser rifle and made it into a long range, specialty weapon.

Aside from the view models being way too huge the institute weapons look how they're supposed to function. They're meant to be cheap, mass produced things so Gen 1 and 2 synths can use them easily for combat. Although Coursers should be using something way nicer.

>are they actually adding another area into the game, instead of just a random thing in the base game, and you have to buy it through their "Pay for Mods" system, instead of a proper DLC?
Yes, but it's not that huge of an area. Just the plaza outside of the GNR building and maybe inside the building itself.

Yeah, except unlike PPSH, this thing physically can't shoot.

mgs aren't assault rifles

I would pay full price for this if it has everything newvegas has

I know nothing about guns but think most Fallout guns look cool.

Attached: 929612.png (1920x1080, 1.58M)

At least the mods are good

Attached: 25152-1518259599-1604550060.jpg (1680x1050, 1.61M)

most guns from fallout look fine excluding the obvious examples of FO4 AR and Institute Laser

tbf if the viewmodel on the institute laser wasnt gigantic I wouldnt have a problem with it

back in your box kaos and dont come out till i say so

>bolt-action lazer rifle
Fucking holo-rifle 2.0 Now Bolt-action!

Also what the fuck is this chamber? In game it has some red lightning in it. What the flying fuck?

Attached: 20190910_032601.png (906x238, 140K)

the red lightning looks cool
it just works, user

I think New Vegas got it right. Add modern guns but give them wood finishes instead of polymer and don't make them look too tacticool. Modern design but 40s-50s aesthetics.

Problem I have with alot of weapon mods is they treat the game like ARMA, adding modern, polymer firearms with all sorts of attachments, they look really out of place.

red lightning is real
1976

the ppsh also isn't a shotgun

>left side bolt action

Attached: KILLKILLKILLKILL.jpg (420x410, 17K)

>this

I think the point of insititute weapons is they're cheap, disposable plastic garbage for cheap disposable soldiers.

How hard was it to just move the drum mag down a bit? The design still isn't great, but one small change and it's a perfectly functional looking gun.

They did that with 4's version.

there's nothing wrong with having modern weapons in Fallout, most weaponry in 1 & 2 were modern and NV had some modern stuff sprinkled in like the marksman carbine

Attached: All-American.png (1000x396, 237K)

I have seen mods that do that and the models ends up somewhat cliping with the characters arm. I guess that was the reason

They should have made that the big schtick of Fallout 4, the novel new feature. Rather than settlements, have it be waterworld shit. Sailable boats and all that.

just die

True, but when you see screenshots of people's characters with their SCARs with fancy optics and tacticool body armor, it just looks silly and clashes with the setting.

Oh, hey, speaking of mods I have this list here of all the analogues to weapons from Stalker I could find. They're all good quality assets and animations.

Attached: fo4.png (575x927, 22K)

Makes sense. The armor system in 4 is only as restrictive as it is because majority of the clothing clips with the armor.

I like how the firearm easiest to make out of pipes, a shotgun, is NOWHERE to be found

The Minigun looks really good. It's probably the best in the series but I'm partial to the SMMG myself.

It's nice tho

Fuck people who mod in weapons that aren't lore friendly.

Recommending the AKM Project 2.0 and there is a good AK74 pack on gunetwork that is similar. Does anyone know what happened to the AKM project sequel? I have seen it on that one russian paid mods side, but apparently they made even mod previews exclusive to paying members because of mod piracy.

In what way?

Attached: Priest.jpg (1578x2335, 3.18M)

Sexy as fuck

Funnily enough that's creation club DLC.

sorry if this is a stupid question but why are the mags transparent? wouldn't that take more resources?

not transparent just the sides cut away

I haven't played Exodus yet, but previous metro games had UIs you could disable and that was how determined how much ammo in the mag was left.

Both of those rifles are from before the "war".

The stuff I got from GUNetwork had pretty wonky animations so I didn't include it, might be some conflict with the 100 weapon mods I have installed. Ended up using a right-handed replacer for the Handmade rifle for the 74U and the Dragunov.
Also, I forgot to tag the Remington 870 in that list, it looks really similar to the pistol grip shotgun in Stalker.

I agree, they look too much like artists just went ham making them feel out of place and unrealistic.

>not paliuntod
rip

It's retarded because it takes up 75% of the screen. A hyper-advanced group of scientists should be able to create a sleeker and more efficient design than Americans 200+ years in the past.

is what Institute weapons should have been.

>institute weapons are supposed to look like shitty old computers
well its a fresh take, at least

It has a nice vibe, the concept art is superior but the gun still looks better than anything else in the game.

It's got that mellow ibm mainframe with orange kinda feel.

they literally look the way they do because they were lazy and didnt wanna make any more weapon animations

Have you even played the game?

oh that sounds pretty smart

Yes. And the rifle looks way better.

A piece of wood with a tube on it makes more sense then 99% of the retarded pipe shit fallout 4 vomited out.

user....

Attached: pipe pistol.png (757x368, 152K)

meh I thought that shit was retarded in fallout 2. Instead of coming up with more cool retro futureristic guns for 2 it's like they just grabbed modern gun images off the internet and converted them to sprites.

God fucking damn

they still have excellent concept artists as the fallout 4 artbook shows.
while it is sad that Adam died I feel his stuff is kind of overrated because of his death. He had a weird sketchy style that I didn't like.
And the limit to Bethesdas transition from concept art to ingame has always been their lack of employees. You can have the greatest artists in the world but if there are only 5 of them and 3 years to make a game corners will be cut.
They have hired a shit ton more employees though so we will see what that brings

The older Fallout games having some Cold War guns is not an excuse to shove in pristine looking guns with EOTech sights.

yes it was dumb in fallout 2 as well
any other stupid images you want to show

>make a wooden fort out of a box of pencils
never mind the guns, the entire game was retarded

the juxtaposition between the 6 polygon, shittily textured metal bar and incredibly detailed and modeled sweaty female abs really sums up bethesda game modding

I actually really like pipe weapons.
At least I like the scope where it's two screws drilled in symmetrically, that's pretty creative

>is just a blue laser gun
Kill my ass.

oh is it Bethesda-mocking time already?

i guess we can make fun of their hand-built guns too. make sure to read the text in the image.

For me? It's the Bozar.

>if some inbred raider can handmake that shit
It's obviously made from a blueprint or something by some nu-madmax style gun assembly group

I liked the Legion’s lawnmower machetes. Otherwise I fully agree.

well at least that looks like a functional gun

Attached: COMBATSHOTGUN (1).png (2000x610, 660K)

too smart more like bethesda was too lazy and just used the exact same model

Just to be clear, the joke is that the shell has no way of getting all the way to the back after being fired, right?

You don't "need" anything apart from the standard 10mm.

and to top things off the animations for reloading are left handed.

Every developer hides their animation extremely well because of engine limitations meanwhile bethesda try to show off their trash work people figured out 20 years ago

did someone say concept art?

Attached: Diamond_City.jpg (1920x1080, 681K)

can you imagine some dev going DUUURRR WOT IF WE MADE GUN LEFT HANDED SO PLAYR CAN SEE RELOD ANIM HUUURR I would strangle him on the spot

>Not understanding that the Institute's advanced design takes fewer resources to make than an AER9, which made it more desirable for mass-production driven institute

OOPS. Posted the in-game playable city instead.

Attached: Diamond_City_concept_art.jpg (1536x2044, 906K)

wait, I've been in these threads multiple times but this is the first I'm hearing of this, what does left handed reload animation even mean

nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/21853

>Not realizing that most pipe weapons were pre-war designs by the populace trying to get around new firearms restrictions.

Animations had always been terrible in Fallout and according to a interview a long time ago, the reason why reload animations are left handed was because they wanted to show everyone the work they put into making them better in Fallout 4.

yeah and everything else in the world still looks and feels like shit with zero immersion

>black druggy

Is it me or does she look like a black woman?

that, for example, the bolt handles of all the hunting rifles were all magically moved to the left side of the gun instead of the original right side, even though even in fallout 3 the hunting rifle had a right side bolt handle.

She was supposed to be related to preston

They are that way so you can see how much ammo you have, when you play on hardest difficulty that's the only way you can tell.

>awesome iconic design work
you're joking right? have you even played Fallout 1 and 2? He fucking butchered Advanced Power Armor and all the energy weapons look absolutely gay as fuck. It's supposed to be retro-tech, NOT STEAMPUNK.

BEHOLD

Attached: Energy Weapons.jpg (1176x2035, 546K)

seems like you're just on a bethesda hate train, I agree with everything else in this thread but power armor in fallout 4 is peak aesthetic.

Because the combat shotgun and combat rifle share models

Attached: 1435123985862.jpg (211x331, 24K)

>guys, the institute is the last hope of humanity!

Right, meanwhile they're killing humans off, their weapons are pathetic even by wasteland standards, and the only impressive tech they have is teleportation. I'm glad I nuked them and didn't warn any of them to get out first. Preston can kiss my white ass and get back to work on my plantation.

You're telling me there's nothing wrong with this? Tell me with a straight face and don't laugh. It's ugly as fuck man.

The plasma defender and laser rcw are some of my favorite gun concepts from NV I really need to do an energy wepons playthough some time

Fallout 4 is a tragedy to the Fallout community

Th plasma defender got a Fallout4 mod that looks great, check out the Glock 86 mod

Wasn’t this just a Volksturmgewehr?

>modify gun to allow for full auto so it at least behaves like the weapon it resembles
>Bethesda's idea of balance is that automatic guns should do less damage than semi auto ones
This is ridiculous. Why even build a weapon with full auto instead of just tapping left click really quickly?

I like it. It gives off a very industrial prototype feel that was forced into full production years too early. It one of the few designs I actually like in the game.

okay but the institute pistol has a little dial that you flip to turn it on, where is your god now?

yeah

What I liked about the pipe pistol was that you could build it to be anything.

I mean, I'm glad they considered making something that didn't look puny in power armor hands. Personally, it's no more retarded looking than a bolter.

except a shotgun, or to have different calibers, or to change it from a pipe gun to a pipe bolt action or to a pipe revolver as those are 3 different gun types.

Fallout games are stupid

Your face is stupid

maybe it's a safety

Attached: 11017-1525693385-1385565236.png (1920x1080, 2.27M)

You could do all of that though. Still doesn't make up for the fact that because of that "fucntionality" pipe guns took up about half of the total weapon count in the game

That's the biggest problem with the Institute; you have no idea why they do what they do. I can understand their mutual distrust with the Commonwealth due to accidents, but those never should have happened in the first place because of what we are told about the Institute's opinions on both Synths and people of the wasteland. Why would the Institute be interested in replacing in what they believe as savages with what they believe as machines?

Why’d you post an empty picture

It looks great but does fuck all damage.

I honestly like the gauss rifle without all the mods strapped onto it

Fallout 1 already solved the power armor problem with all the endgame weapons being huge like the minigun and plasma rifle

you actually can't but whatever , it's customization that decreased weapon count anyway

the op is a complete fucking idiot and you are as well for thinking he was right in in way.

>scientists had to build something that could not work before they found something that does
yes that is literally how it fucking happens. why do you think that thomas edison quote about 2000 ways not to make a light bulb is so famous?

this is an image of a prototype pip boy so it makes sense things would be exposed because they would need access to stuff. have you seen any prototype hardware before?

and it was revised and minimized leading to the current pipboy.

god damn Yea Forums is a fucking shithole of retardation.

Attached: 1554677993829.jpg (1280x720, 70K)

That's valid, I mostly used plasma rifles, but I just remembered they were weed whacker sized.

it's an ak some guy made one in his garage out of a shovel

Why would the prototype of a portable computer that is the size of a brick shithouse ever be wrist-mounted?
Even early portable phones were on a big bulky box that you carried around with a shoulder strap, it wasn't until much later that they got worked down until they were just the handset. Starting with a barrel-sized thing you expect people to put on their arm is stupid, for stupid people who wouldn't recognize it as a pip boy if it wasn't on someone's goddamn arm.

>wow what lazy-ass gun devs just copying their own design like that that never happens ever

Attached: m4-m16a4.jpg (650x333, 169K)

>stairs
do bethesda games even have stairs? I thought everything was teleporting ladders because stairs don't work on their shitty engine.

There's plenty of working stairs, yes. It's just ladders they can't wrap their heads around

Other way around. Ladders don't exist, but stairs do.

It's a reference to an actual, even more retarded RL gun.

Attached: USFA_Zip_Gun_No_Magazine.jpg (500x264, 54K)

because it is a universe where computers powerful enough to run fucking AI are still built out of vacuum tubes you fucking retard. the whole aesthetic is big bulky things that are barely miniaturized.

they wanted a wrist mounted device.
the FIRST PROTOTYPE is bulky and unwieldy because it is a PROTOTYPE you fucking clown.

>the whole aesthetic is big bulky things that are barely miniaturized

Attached: 1536368398055.jpg (720x597, 53K)

>the whole aesthetic is big bulky things that are barely miniaturized.
no it isn't

Still wish they had made it a .50 Cal like they originally planned, then they could have at least partially justified how clunky it looks

>Classified as LMG

Attached: 1464363571832.jpg (145x246, 14K)

not him but I see it this way
There is no utility to having it that large and mounted on your arm when it couldnt possibly work, first you miniaturise the technology and then you apply it to different purposes, not the other way around.

you should have a look at weapons made by white south african gun manufacturers

isnt the whole lore for it that its some stupid frankenstein gun?

What was the Enclave's reason for killing Vault Dwellers again? I thought they only purged 'radiated' people

>retards didn't even play fallout 1 and 2

the reason is "why did the enclave cross the road"

I miss the 10mm submachine gun.

fits the post apoc aesthetic far better than anything made by bethesda

Attached: cobra.jpg (750x273, 15K)

to be fair, using a MG like an AR makes sense when power armor is involved. You can use miniguns for your LMG needs.

nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/22223

the fo4 picture is a shotgun and a battle rifle
and you posted a carbine and a assault rifle
are you stupid?

There isn't. Interplay just needed a new 'ancient evil' because they already killed off the Master. Enclave have always been cartoon characters.

Thank you, user.

>that fucking character in the pictures
HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

A show of force. They didn't kill the whole vault, just the ones at the door, to tell the rest of the vault not to fuck with them.

They purged mutants, yes. But anyone who wasn't born into the Enclave were also fair grounds for extermination. They were incredibly isolationist and xenophobic. The Enclave had a direct hand in the Vault program, so they either knew that the vault they attacked during the opening cutscene of 2 was one that had been purposefully tainted, or just didn't care as the dwellers weren't Enclave personnel.

Hey look a shotgun

Attached: fa_sg_spas15_v1.jpg (632x415, 12K)

It's a sort of halfway point between an AR and an LMG
It has a massive capacity and rate of fire, but good accuracy and range as well as being lightweight

It was intended to be a sniper rifle in Fallout 2 but someone botched the stats on it making it function like a long range LMG, the devs liked it so they kept it that way

Dude you've never heard of zip guns before?
That's just what shit guns made out of garbage are called. I mean I guess it's apt for the gun you posted but most people think of the kind of gun you're responding to when they hear zip gun.

>Only 4 unarmed weapons in the base game
>Can't use any of them with power armor

What the fuck Todd.
New Power Fist looks like ass too.

Attached: 1556048443353.gif (320x213, 1.4M)

Why is the handle a goddamn fuel canister? It was bad enough when they did it with the Ripper but this is just beyond stupid.

Better than using shit designs.

>melee attacks are slower and lock you in place when you fight in third person
>melee weapons do less damage than guns in spite of being slower and fucking melee weapons
Melee combat was literally an afterthought in this fucking game

They just took the melee combat from skyrim and made it even worse

Not with that attitude.

The only good thing about melee is the broken ass perk that lets you teleport through walls in vats.

>spas-15 and m4 ar da saem
And how is the part interchangeability?

Attached: 7FDA6E9B-F562-45E2-A668-2F01EFE2C46A.jpg (523x541, 46K)

Everything was an afterthought

Having you be able to mod power armor arms for unarmed bonuses almost made up for it conceptually, but they all sucked, too.

thanks, that armor is fucking nice as hell

Gunplay at least was improved from previous games, why did they shit the bed so hard with melee combat mechanics?

Who the fuck in their right mind would ever get into melee combat when you have a gun?

It looks good. I bet you thought the shotgun in Doom 3 looked bad too you shitter.

Looks more powerful than the synth rifles.

Someone who's trying to be sneaky? Someone who's hyped up on chems so hard that they can rip straight through power armor like butter? Someone who's a massive poorfag who can't afford ammunition? Someone who's a fucking ninja? It's an RPG you fucking moron

Energy Weapons in Bethesda games either look like homemade trash or a pipe taken from Vault's interiors.

Attached: AER9_laser_rifle.png (2950x1400, 1.69M)

The fo4 picture is actually a shotgun and a carbine that they call a battle rifle for some retarded reason.

Because Fallout 3 was fun

Attached: The Pitt.jpg (1920x1080, 233K)

New Vegas' biggest mistake was not trashing Bethesda's garbage energy weapons like they trashed Bethesda's garbage ballistic weapons.

>AR do not belong to a Fallout game
>Literally released in 1959
Good lord, stop breathing

>reload animation completely restarts if switching from first person to third person
>this also happens in third person if you go from standing still to strafing
>movement in first person is always faster than in third person
>movement buffs do not work in third person when your weapon is holstered but do work if you draw your weapon

And Todd said, "Good enough."

>unzips stealth boy
>teleports behind you from across the map with broken melee perks

More likely it was due to console limitations. The original reason why Chinese assault rifle (later known as """"handmade rifle"""") was cut was to meet console limitations. Somehow.

Fuck if I knew how having one more gun would have caused PS4 to shit itself but apparently they fixed it for the DLC.

That broken ass perk did some janky shit. I remember being teleported into the underworld a few times.

Oh yeah I remember that they even had the models and shit in the game files.

Obviously bullshit, they cut it from the base game to have content for the DLC

dude EPIC and upvoted XD
posting on reddit now!

it really wasn't, least of all the shitty DLCs

You could tell they ran out of time when they were going over EWs. The way they dumped them to Fiends so there would be some enemies in the world using them, having only two vendors in the game, one of them being part of an isolationist faction that was dying, the scarce spread of EW loot in the game, etc. Shame too, Plasma Defender and Caster looked really nice, can't say the same about the DLC stuff.

>Point Lookout
Again, one good quest in a literal swamp full of shit

>Pitt

>PL
I thought Desmond was great, but that's about it.

Rust weapons look good though

Point Lookout was outstanding. Huge map, plently of exploration, detail, lore regarding the pre-world war, quests, etc.

Can I just say I actually really like the Bethesda later rifle? It looks like a solid state tool. Like the body is just a single cast piece of metal with the electronics just slide in one end of the tube and capped. Ergonomics are poor, but with that casted unibody it looks like you could just Chuck it from a plane, pick it up from its crater, and fire immediately.

The laser rifle design is ingenious and a perfectly crafted weapon with an iconic silhouette. This can be said about all the Fallout 3 weapons. Adam Adamowicz was a master.

Attached: lowJkLJ_d.jpg (639x475, 28K)

The customization aspect fucked over all of Fallout 4's designs except power armor. It's fucking retarded and I hate it.
