I thought the s1/s2 were just shaped different from the fk models? Is the mouse wheel actually different? Also, I had an older fk1 with a yellow wheel that was bad but I bought a new one that is all black. It feels better but it started randomly dying on me and a quick smack to the side seems to fix it.

Overall zowie seems to be really lacking in build quality.

My index finger rests closer to the wheel since I'm always using the tilt, so I haven't had problems with the DPI shift buttons except in MMOs, when I have to hook my finger down to use whatever ability I have assigned to G7 (the bottom one). I work around that by just assigning abilities I don't need to spam constantly, like my cooldowns

Regardless, it seems like a design oversight by the manufacturers. I'd had some absolute garbage mouses before and they never had this problem. I use the Razer Goliathus Speed Edition mousepad, not sure if its microfiber though.

If you really need more keybinds that are within regular reach, you can always just do combo keypresses to do other skills/abilities/actions in game. Like M4+1, M4+2, M4+3, ... M5+4, M5+5, etc.

Well, because of that I own a Glorious Model O and it's become my favorite mouse, despite the Model O not appearing in Zy's top 40.

Well, granted, it's the top rated mouse for "MMO" type usage on the RocketJumpNinja site. Although honestly I question what's so fun about playing piano with a skill bar that's unnecessarily large.

I do play some ESO from time to time and used to play GW2 and RuneScape, but none of these really required any sort of skillbar piano bullshit, and skills could all be reasonably organized on keys near your hands without any need for a large extra-button mouse.

Also, the reason I don't like the G502 doesn't have to do with its weight, it's the garbage gnarly cord and the weird ass fake rubber. I've cleaned my mouse several times with isopropyl alcohol and the rubber grip part always looks fucking diseased after using it for 2 years. The regular black plastic parts look fine, it's just that shitty rubber. Besides the shitty rubber coating they used, I didn't like the angular shape and went back to more neutral/symmetrical shapes like the Zowie-FK1 and preferred them a lot more.

The "weight" argument is always just a "nice to have" or tiebreaker for me, it's not a hugely important factor to the mouse purchase.
