rich charming soulful comfy 90s cgi renders
More high resolution DKC renders please.
I really hope this or DKC1 is released next on SNES online next, I want to be comfy in my bed while taking in all the soul
Please post more.
The environment in these is so interesting and just makes you want to explore compared to the newer Pixar looking DK games.
nice
I liked tropical freeze, but the setting wasn't too great to me, it felt too pg13 somehow.
Seeing that render instapavlov triggered me into humming the pirate ship theme (or whatever that song is called you know what I mean)
Rare's Donkey Kong Country series had the best promotional renders, and I wanted to see more from Donkey Kong 64.
Retro Studios doesn't understand anything about DKC, and if they would have respected it, they would have stuck to the tradition of using highly detailed prerendered sprites and backgrounds, but with vastly more powerful systems powering it, as well as not butchering the gameplay where it doesn't even feel like it at all.
The Donkey Kong Land games on GameBoy were more true to the classic gameplay than Retro Studio's games.
DKC2 is the greatest SNES game in every single category: gameplay, graphics, music, etc.
its a shame the games lost their soul
>Not being part of the DKC1 masterrace
I feel the same, there's a sort of grittiness to the original trilogy that makes it feel more interesting.
>all of these high quality models are probably lost forever
JUST
Wise > Kirkhope
This one's from 64.
Not bad, but doesn't hold the candle to a bramble blast or aquatic ambience.
Metal Gear Kong was the best game in the series
>He doesn't exclusively play low level games when playing jrpgs
hello casual.
so are these the models they actually used in the snes game?
I like Fischer more than Kirkhope. These songs are all by her:

Yes. Just directly compare the low detail renders from DKC 1 to sprites from the first game. The renders considerably improved in quality from the second game on.
yes
holy
...
How the FUCK are these games so good
DKC1 is very pretty but it's a very mediocre platformer.

How do you know? "Returns" is a modern reimagining akin to the "New" Super Mario games. There's absolutely no way Retro wasn't aware of this aesthetic. I'm sure they were asked to make the games in a 3D engine like they did.
go to bed miyamoto
The general 3D aesthetic and world select interface seems like a top down mandate from Nintendo in order to fit in line with the aesthetic of their new 2D brand platformers. The red/blue level selects feels like something out of NSMB, not DKC.
If I were head of Retro, I would have made Donkey Kong Country 4, which takes place a few years after the events of Donkey Kong 64, and kept the same aesthetic as the SNES titles, but with much higher quality digitized sprites and backgrounds.
It was, but DKC2 was an improvement on all fronts. Everything about DKC1 is just 'OK' except for aesthetics.
sweet, sweet bomberman 64.
One of my favorite games ever.
No.
>Everything about DKC1 is just 'OK' except for aesthetics.
But the fundamentals of the platforming are largely the same. It just has less variety in terms of level design/aesthetics and lousy bosses.
