the 3k jinmeiyo set will you be covered, you need at least 4500k to be able to read without much use of a dictionary.

Average Jap gets by with jouyou knowledge and can read newspapers just fine.

Those words are so chinese that I found half of them when trying to read japanese and I know less than 5k words.
As for the writting Japanese words such as 茸 or 塵 as kana it is because Japanese are cucks that use the word トンネル instead of隧道 or コメント instead of 論評 or 意見 or エレベーター instead of 昇降機, it is sad how much they cuck themselves, most kanakana loanwords such as the ones I just mentioned should be removed from the language.
