Slay the Spire 4th character

They're out right now in beta user, check them out

anyone tried it yet? stuck at work right now

What's the gimmick this time? Spellcaster? Because I don't count the Defect as a mage.

I might try it if she has card art + I can keep any progress I make in the beta branch.

Otherwise, I'm going to keep playing modded non-beta.

Don't look if you don't want to be spoiled
>She changes stances with various cards
>one stance makes her do and take double damage
>another makes her gain energy upon leaving the stance
>one stance makes her "divine", aka a super buff

Attached: The watcher.png (1920x1200, 3.46M)

Sounds fun. Don't really want to play in a beta without my main account so hoping for a release soon

>waifu
please be real

So, a monk.

The double damage mechanic reminds me of running Void in the Hollow Knight mod.

What does the divine stance do?

"Evaluate" shouldn't be capitalized.

>these potential card nerfs in right now
Holy shit cards got gutted.

She has partially completed card art, some of them just say "beta" on them unfortunately

Triple damage and gains like 3 energy upon entering it. It's really ridiculous. However, she has to reach ten on a divine counter (different cards fill it up different amounts), and she automatically leaves the stance on the end of the turn.

That's pretty nifty. It seems like Defect but with less commitment.

>without my main account
Just copy the contents of your Preferences folder to the Betapreferences folder.

Sounds like she'll perform best when able to see her draw order, then, unless her other playstyles are better/similarly viable. I'm not a fan of having to plan multiple turns out in advance like that, but maybe she'll be fun without having to do that.

Well there are dedicated cards that do the divine stance thing, it's not part of her basic deck.
You'll probably enjoy her, it's more about flowing in and out of the different stances so you deal as much damage as possible without dying in one hit

What's being nerfed? I hope they're leaving Corruption decks alone but I doubt it, that archetype is so fun even if it's broken to shit.

neat thanks

>Nerfing cards in a game where your deck is pure RNG and the chances of getting a repeated list of good cards is slim
Why?

>has a face with recognizable features

It's just being tested in beta right now, as far as I know. Doesn't necessarily mean the changes will go through.

Attached: unknown-26.png (644x435, 502K)

Also there's a card that instantly gives you Divine status but kills you the next turn, Have fun making builds around that.

>play game
>Have to get really lucky to get good cards to win
>Act 4 is basically impossible unless you are unkillable
>Lmao lets nerf cards tho!
That's a yikes for me

Steamrolls and reliance on a small amount of broken cards are not fun

git gud retard
I seriously hope you're at least talking about a20

Fuck ever using that. I prefer defensive decks and indirect attacks, like poison and orbs.

Source?

Her legs look awful.

I seriously hope you don't actually think this. But I do agree that they shouldn't nerf cards.

If the game is balanced around them then nerfing them will just force people to use different broken cards.
It's like the exact opposite problem that isaac has.
>Isaac """balances""" synergies by weakening them during the final bosses with armor
>Spire """balances""" synergies by being balanced around you having the best ones
Both suck but isaacs is better desu

I picked it up in the discord.
People can consistently win a15 heart runs 99% of the time, only beyond that it gets rough.

Provide a source. I can't find any so it just looks like you made up a fake list.

Check CNN.

Yeah you don't know shit about this game. The guy posting nerfs was trolling anyway.

Man, that just ruins the whole aesthetic. Why didn't they stick a mask on her like everyone else? Like the good old cloth wrapped face with an eye tatoo'd over it design.

>Gay monk chick
I'll pass, tell me when they add something cool like an undead character or something.

Attached: cherry bad.jpg (675x625, 72K)

She's fun

What the fuck.

I wonder if user cut off the bottom of the card text. Maybe it's Ethereal.

Oh wait, if it were ethereal, it would be at the top.

>Footwork nerfed
>Leg sweep the only block card to get a buff
Well then

Those are all nerfs, just the arrow didn't copy for whatever reason.

Why am I so bad at this game? If I can't do a Block deck as the Ironclad or a Poison bane deck as the Silent or a Thunder Deck as the Defect i lose every time at Ascension 4, usually in act two because of some of the encounters in it being high damage if you get even one bad hand during them.

Like I feel like im not learning from experience either since Im at over 90 hours of play. Also they keep nerfing useful shit. I can't seem to figure out any key mistakes im making other than I get unlucky with draws at bad times.

You're right, i got the numbers right for footwork but not legsweep.
I was already finding it difficult to keep blocks up with silent

I second what this guy said. They should have put a Kitsune mask on her. Also the legs do look fucked.

Stop trying to think in archetypes.

Think about the floor you're in, the enemies that'll hurt you the most, and look at the state of your deck relative to the boss of the floor. Once you're comfortable with that, only then do you think about long term choices if for example your deck has enough scaling for the heart.

I managed to beat the Heart once as the Ironclad via a limit break focused deck, but I guess I should try to be more flexible like you said.

This new character makes me feel like real brainlet. I died to a single Cultist.

Forcing a build is usually pretty easy in the early ascensions. That being said, it's a bad habit to form once you get to the later ones.

Just remember the three most important parts of the game user:
Can your deck scale?
Can your deck cycle?
Do you make the most out of the RNG the game throws at you?
You don't need to adhere to any of them since there are items, like say the choker, that attaches limits to your playstyle but it's best to keep those in mind whenever you add or remove a card.

>Enjoy the game.
>Can consistantly get to the heart.
>Only ever got it to Refuse to go to later ascensions until i beat the fucking thing once on the easiest difficuly.
I cant blame RNG for this, i'm just retarded.
Still have fun though i guess.

Attached: Spooky sad.jpg (480x358, 25K)

Oh and one other thing. Can you deck beat the path laid out before you? This means elites, enemies, and bosses. You can get blindsided real quick if you don't think about a certain encounter that could potentially just utterly fuck you in the ass.

Easiest way to do it is to force a build if you really, really want to. You'll probably fail to get everything in place for a couple runs, but once you do it's an auto win.

that reminds me of one of my first successful runs
>be ironclad
>exchange blood for random boss artifact
>it's snecko eye
>carry self to abyss with demon form and other high-cost cards that would randomly get assigned 0 energy cost
>realize this is a good way to get fucked by ethereal reaper
>blunder into skip-to-boss event
>murder the shit out of donu and diamond
10/10 would gamble on a hand full of 0-cost heavy blades again

not him, but what do you mean exactly by "can your deck scale?"

>a third female character
based

>third
Defect is not a Waifu, user.

Attached: 1558028785601.jpg (1000x794, 62K)

Strength, Dex, Focus, Claw, etc.

Can your deck's overall power scale up when facing against bosses? And doesn't just involve raw number gain, can you exhaust your deck to the point of making it only cycle good cards?

Can your deck deal damage and protect you against the increasing difficulty of the enemies?
For example, your intial strike cards okay at floor one, but as you get more cards and enemies get more health and start blocking more often their value drastically decreases to the point it's essentially a wasted draw.
Compare
>Strike
>1 energy, 6 damage.
vs
>Ball lightning
>1 energy, 7 damage, channel 1 lightning (3 damage without focus, potentially evokes an orb effect, etc)

Stance system.

And Retain.

Okay user Post Your Best Run so Far.

Attached: 2019-09-09 (2).png (1366x768, 727K)

Yeah okay. I getcha. I do try to get rid of strikes when possible later on. I've put 60 hours into the game (most of that probably in the first month after release) but I can't say I've ever had a broken unkillable run. And with each update that comes out, it feels like it's harder and harder to even get a winning run going. idk if it's just the cards I choose or if I'm just always consistently fucked by RNG. Especially when it comes to Defect. That character just feels like JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL. Either you win with blind luck or you struggle the whole way half an inch from death.

Early on you have to rely on cycling Calm to Rage to get the most out of your meagre attacks. I've only made it halfway through chapter 2 with her so far but it seems to me her biggest asset is card cycling. She even has cards that defy the regular rules of deck shuffling. Making good use of that is key to getting a lot of damage out of her.

A good and easy Defect deck involves just stacking frost orbs and focus.

Or if you just want to go wild then go ham on an All for One deck.

New character is kind of boring, from the cards I've seen so far they lack the cool combo options the other classes have. Even their supposedly big mechanic, Divine stance, lasts 1 turn and doesn't even do that much. Like you could get a similar result with less work on Ironclad.

What are some good character mods? I really enjoyed the Hollow Knight one.

I've only tried Hollow Knight, Slimebound, and The Cursed. Slimebound is a little too strong but generally well-made— though it does just recolor a lot of cards.

The Cursed gave me an infinite attacks per turn cycle on my first run, and the card art had some placeholders. I dropped it.
