Who the fuck cares at this point, KH3's shitty ass take on crit ensures the DLC content being just as unfun as the rest of this mess of a game.

That was my main problem with it. They changed the graphical concept of the game entirely but didn't fully use its capabilities for cool lighting shit until the very last 20~ minutes of the game; they came back to good world design but maintained the shit world narrative on exactly half of the worlds. It never pushed anything in terms of difficulty on its highest, only on an optional boss that is pretty much the same difficulty of KH2 Sephi - if you decide not to cheese him.

Before this game released and many times during my playthrough I was thinking: God, they're really settling in some sort of vacuous "balance" between being completely friendly to newcomers and hastily going through all the storylines scattered on all the other games/the completely bonkers plot mechanism DDD introduced. It felt like the most "Disney/Producer" driven game in the series, with Frozen, Tangled, and all that, which I didn't find pleasing. It has good parts, sure: the gummi ship stuff is fantastic, Vexen and Namine's inclusion in the storyline is very nicely done, the concept of visualizing the power of waking was nice, the secret video was ridiculous. The rest of the game is a mishmash, very very mediocre. I really hope the next game, with this secret video as a base for it (TWEWY and FFVXIII! DDD2!), goes balls deep again. The DLC probably won't change that too many ingredients are in the story as it is, and its focus seems to be to explain shit that was explained in the game, which I don't really like.

Switch can do UE4 to a pretty good degree. They'd just have to downscale the polycount, have less complex lighting and add segmented rooms in worlds again. If it can do DQXI to a certain degree (low res on handheld, sure, but works), it could do with KH3's assets. Definitely not the game, though.

The moment he entered the castle he was completely fucked either how, and was gas lit by Riku/The King being there while Naminé eventually chiming in to mix his affection for Kairi with herself. The illusion of "going back" is fruitless with the manipulation of the group's main objectives and then Sora's obsession with Naminé.

Current theory is that it takes place when Sora tries to bring back Kairi and that he travels back in time again and rewrites the KG events (also why some of the fights look different)

KH3 is a joke even on Lv.1 Crit, you literally can't die while Links are up and you can acquire Once More/SecondChance from fucking accessories on Lv.1, not to mention it's on certain kb transformations. You can't acquire OM/SC in 2FM Lv.1 at all.

The base combo is limp Osaka dogshit with no utility. Shitical mode only accomplished giving the player less variety in a game already lacking it. Magic Flash (x2.4), a KH3 finisher, deals less damage than Horizontal Slash (x3.5), a normal hit in KH2.

I still don't get how an autist can continue talking about FFXV when everyone has pretty much forgotten about it already, FFXIV is way more relevant and has been praised as the best FF story to date with its recent expansion, The KH series will continue going forward because it just keeps making fucking money and the demand is there. You know, it's kind of weird since I just thought Square had outright forgotten how to make action games until I played Type 0. That game is visceral, to the point, the opposite of floaty, has surprising amounts of depth, marries FF RPG traditions together with action flawlessly and does its own thing while at it. The entire combat relies on enemy patterns and it pulls it off almost flawlessly, which is laughable when you think about enemy design and encounters in KH3 being one of it's biggest issues and a total joke.
What happened to KH and FFXV/VIIR? It's baffling since previous releases prove they do have competent talent still within their ranks.

aero + blizzard allow you activate flowmotion regardless of how the stage arena is built.

water is a two-hit spell with the first one also acting as kh2 reflect just with stricter timing.

With Mickey Clasp you can fit spells in between any hit in your keyblade combo so you can mix up your combos with water blocking, aero > flowmotion, or fire/thunder for extra damage. instead of running and poking with magic now you're using it to its full potential

the game is normally TOO EASY so play on hard 0 xp or critical mode so the game is actually demanding.

On this you're constantly 1-3 hits away from dying so you're always working to keep some activation or transformation on deck for i-frames in addition to what you can block or dodge normally.

now you're juggling 3 keyblade transformation gauges, mp + grand magic, shotlock, team attacks, summons, and none of them are throwaway

the distracting cinematic combo finishers are on by default but you have the option to turn them off and in critical mode you can switch off attraction commands

if you use cooking you can give yourself Berserk Charge

i am by no means defending the lack of damage scaling and general imbalance but the game DOES add nuances that make it more interesting than at first glance

KH2's accessories and armor occasionally come with abilities, such as Shadow Bloom and Shockcharm+, KH1's don't. KH2 objectively expanded the "RPG" elements with actual depth and agency while de-emphasizing number grinding for RPG babies who can't into action games.

While it doesn't have the impressive battle system KH2 shows, it's still serviceable and allows for a certain ammount of good combats. Worlds are well designed (FAR better than anything after it beyond DDD (which broke the design with flowmotion) and 3) and interesting to explore in even with their room-like quality, the game's travel is well paced; palette, visual design and animation are all fantastic... Dunno, it's a good fucking game, specially since later releases got rid of camera issues. I love going back to it once in a while, while I would dread to do a replay of 2.

CoM I personally enjoy because, while it does away with proper world design due to console constraints, manages to have a distinct personality in the combat system that works and is related to the game's overall themes. I also really like its plot and characters, and the weight it gives to boss fights. Good sprites and design, too.

Okay is anyone else NOT impressed by this DLC? Maybe it's because it feels like a lazy rehash of KH2 Final Mix's Data Battles. I mean give us new the Foretellers and Luxu at least. This is rehashing the same sidequest from KH2 with INFERIOR gameplay. It's just not impressive.

About the only thing I found interesting? The fact that Lea and Kairi are able to tell that what Sora's keyblade looks like. That means people can identify characters by their keyblades even though the keychains alter the appearance of what they even look like.

I tried to mean that all the games except DDD and 3 have way worse world designs by their basis than 1. DDD fucked their world designs with the broken flowmotion, 3 is a perfect evolution of DDD in that regard and has some of the best worlds in the series, alongside some mediocre ones (Big Hero 6 has no direction, Frozen is boring). It's very exciting to see they've regained conciousness over this part of the game and I'm eagerly awaiting on next releases.

The game's perfectly balanced around Lv. 1/Hardest difficulty and will reward you thus. Anything else is up to you.

Because I hated her story in Birth by Sleep and Fragmentary Passage where all she does is go Muh Terra and Ventus. These side characters are uninteresting junk. And the cast is now bloated with them even with minuscule characters who have even less business showing up like the Twilight Town Gang.

All I wanted out of Kingdom Hearts were more simplistic stories about Sora and his adventures as he developed (oh Sora developed into a hopeless unappealing retarded protagonist because Nomura sucks). Not a bunch of side characters who aren't interesting and Nomura insists on making them playable. And this constant obsession that Nomura has with making other characters playable has frankly fractured my interest in the franchise (there are other flaws as well, but this post is not about that).

Kairi just got shafted hard in KH3 (hurts the most since 0.2 tried to put a little bit of character in the little lines she had there). As she has been shafted in 2 before. The extent of her character is within the walls of 1 and maybe CoM.

The only way to save her character now would be to just make KH4 some sort of KHX-2, which won't happen since Nomura is still playing ping pong whether to make Riku have ulterior feelings for Sora or just continue with this undercooked Sora-Kairi relationship.

A Kairi/Xion/Namine based FFX-2 style game through Disney worlds (these three characters have had the barest interaction with Disney worlds out of the entirety of the cast) would be the best idea the team could come up with for the next spin-off of the series. Also, the next game will be about regaining Sora, so I don't think it's going to be a "spin-off" in any way. DDD2, sure.

Speaking of Aqua I also wouldn't mind a remake of BBS. Nomura clearly wanted to do more with the game but was limited by hardware. Kh2/Kh3 style combat with BBS's is something I'd love to see.

Man I hope the data battles are good, Vanitas looks hype as fuck and Xigbar's shows us reaction commands are back, so it's looking optimistic. Would be nice if all the norts got the fights they deserved.

Re Coded was pretty fun but now that we finally got back to KH's original combat I want to stay there for a while. KH3 found a good middleground between Command style and normal KH2 like combat.

Honestly my original complaints are still there, but I never hated the game, I was just disappointed with Scala and no Final Fantasy. Pixar being dominant in the game also fucking sucked, but I loved so much of the game. KHII FM is still the best in the series and top tier fair difficulty. Yeah though we haven't got the final details on if it's unlocked straight away or if we have to unlock it. For example, in BBS you have to complete the Final Episode for the Secret Episode to unlock. It'll probably be the same in KH3.
