I really like Astral Chain, and I really wanted Luigi's Mansion 3 - which is shaping up great, in my opinion, and is releasing on a perfect day, Halloween. I might also get Link's Awakening down the line, but too many games on other platforms to play.
Other than that I got Switch last December with smash, so I was able to play through a few of the games I wanted (Bayonetta 2, some indie stuff).

The release schedule was unbalanced and the first half of the year was mostly barren, but the latter half picked up the slack hardcore, September alone justifies the whole year with how many quality releases it's getting. 2019 will end up being as good as 2017.

So why can't I hate cinematic combat that relies on cutscenes and quick time events and fancy flashy animations? This pretty much describes every single platinum game in existence. And that's not going into the humongous amount of cutscenes. Probably not as bad as God of War's cutscene amount, but it's a problem nonetheless. Again, speaking from a neutral viewpoint, I see both of these games are bothing and obsessed with graphics and cinematic flashy animations. There are no degrees here. It's an absolute. Either the game has them, or they don't.

You're only thinking in 2 dimensions user, IE you're just viewing them in terms of raw cutscene amounts. You're not looking deeper into the issue. Every single Nintendo game on the Switch shares the same problems, IE an extreme lack of difficulty. Some also suffer from severe framerate problems, blatant examples of content being cut out and resold at a premium, or downright lazy content (like Zelda's season pass)
Comparatively, the Ps4's library of games all share similar flaws too. Only rarely does a game every even reach 60 FPS, and the ones that run at 30 barely stay at 30. The games are also poorly optimized, relying heavily on walk and talk sections to mask loading. Even the vaunted Bloodborne, one of the highest rated exclusives, is not immune to this. Have we so easily forgotten launch day for BB, when the game dropped to 5FPS every other scene? This was similar to Xenoblade 2 on launch day, where it not only dropped FPS to single digits, but the program itself had memory leaks which would result in a hard crash if you didn't constantly close the game out every hour or so.

I'll bet you did it after the patch, which fixed the memory leak that shouldn't have existed in the first place, but only slightly fixed the framerate. Still, I must ask why I should pay 60 bucks for a game that'in best case scenarios, might reach 25 FPS and stay there, instead of dropping to 20.

The preset battles are neat, but they offer zero replayability. The difficulty settings are silly. Dracula and Rathalos are great, but Wii U had the Swarm, so they're close to even on that front.

The thing with the Switch is that when the first party drops it drops. I find myself investing loads of time and even losing sleep on Nintendo games. With my PS4 I play games more often but I don’t invest the same amount of energy into them, that and it’s mostly third party games since Sony hasn’t had an interesting first party game since Spider-Man. In fact I think I’ve only really dove into four exclusives this generation from Sony compared to the six I’ve played already from Nintendo with three more planned to wet my whistle.
