Why La Pucelle over any of those other Disgaea clones?
It's much more charming in basically every regard. Characters are more nuanced, setting is bright, the tone is more consistent.
It's kind of like the Slayers anime where it feels like someone made their D&D campaign a game. That appeals to me much more than wacky trope-y funtime,
A bunch of old 8 and 16 bit games, as usual
>It's kind of like the Slayers anime where it feels like someone made their D&D campaign a game
Sounds like a good time. Is the English patch for the PSP port any good or should one stick with the NA PS2 release?
The English patch for Ragnarok works just fine but I'd personally recommend sticking with the PS2 version. The new scenario Ragnarok adds is not very good, gameplay-wise or story-wise, and La Pucelle is one of few games where I'd say the English dub is much better than the original Japanese.

What's the best way to play Planescape Torment? The remasters any good?
Is that middle game just Steambot Chronicles or..
The Enhanced Edition is essentially just a UI update, but it's a nice UI update. And it's always nice to have something actually made to be compatible with modern OS's.
Buy it, pirate it, no difference to me, but I would recommend it over trying to configure the original version

I need to play more games instead of re-playing the same ones
>i totally played literally every game in every one of these threads and love 95% of them, guys
Embarrassing, anyone who was genuine would love some games and dislike others, it's impossible for so many different types of games to be enjoyable to you
Not to mention that if you've played a lot of games you wouldn't have pleb-tier shit like Oblivion on there and your mosaic would be way less generic
>what are opinions
i recognize oblivion being inferior to other entries, but i liked it more.
>hurr it's impossible for so many different types of games to be enjoyable to you
why? maybe i just like videogames more than you do.

My nibba. Controls kinda like Virtual-on if you've been into that as well. You bind your weapons to the face buttons, allows to find your own light-medium-heavy combos. I liked the idea of the first game a little more, because you die you start back at the very beginning of the game and lose all your weapons. sequel is less punishing in that aspect, much more polished combat-wise though.

>Gothic 1 instead of 2

>zoomer being retarded and not able to make jokes (since I said "you know where" and not "you know to what")
what a surprise
Oblivion is zoomer repellent.
It's the same game but better, so I'd say it's fair game to put Ult instead of 4
either way melee beats both so what does it really matter

That's probably a better way to put it than my usual answer of "I like SOUL". I don't think puzzle quest was executed too poorly though. It's getting rereleased on switch with more content soon which is more than most of my 3x3 games have going for them.

explore pc gaming more, new genres (strategy, weirer rpgs, etc.)
i suggest you every rts choice on pc.
Reminder that those retarded waifu and little kid games you put in your 3x3 don't make you a weeb; they make you a retard. There are plenty of good games that were made in Japan and you willingly chose garbage.
yes, my fault, puzzle quest was the exception
Your list as bloated as your ego, only does disservice to the selection.
I'm pretty sure the copious ammount of anime I've watched make me a weeb but ok.
Believe it or not I almost exclusively play on PC despite my list leading one to believe the contrary. I just happen to love the Ps2. I love Civilization, I've been trying to get into d&d rpgs like Planescape and Baldur's Gate. Any other specific recommendations?
I'd like to know why you called Morrowind, Baldur's Gate, Fallout, Arcanum and Gothic garbage but included them in this chart
MGS is a pretty mediocre stealth game. At least try thief. The Fallout is baby's first RPG and you chose one of the easiest iterations of that series to enumerate. Morrowind falls under a similar umbrella.
The following CRPGs are good, strong entry points into the real meat of the genre:
>Might and Magic 3
>Might and Magic 6
>Pool of Radiance (DOS)
>Wizardry 6
>Betrayal At Krondor
>Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup
Continuing...
Persona and Earthbound are just pure garbage. Stop that. RPGs and consoles do not mix well. Out of everything I've played (and its quite a lot, i'm not bullshitting here) BoF 3-5, Elminage Original, Princess Maker 2, and the From Soft crawlers, so maybe check out those, but I honestly would not recommend bothering. I regret most of my time spent playing JRPGs. Team Ico are sucky devs.
Should I play Live a live? This is the 6th time I've seen it on Yea Forums.

>I'd like to know why you called Morrowind, Baldur's Gate, Fallout, Arcanum and Gothic
Where? The worst I've ever called them is entry level or shallow, but they are still fairly good. It is frustrating to see everyone jerk them off and never delve into a legit CRPG, though. Gothic 1 is definitely pretty mediocre.

Anime is normie as fuck retard how's that rock you been living under?
I'll be sure to try that, thanks!
They are pretty weak. Everyone thinks being able to choose some dialogue option is the epitome of choices and consequences, but really its just lazy design and phoning it in. The problem is that this has become the standard and people don't even realize what else is possible. The games play like a choose your own adventure novel with arbitrary combat (which ironically some of these books have done a better job implementing) to pad things out. Character building is often just very minor flavor compared to something like AoD, which is all these mechanics put into hyper overdrive.
But yeah, this shit isn't the end all, be all of CRPGs that people thing it is. Just a very light foray into what the genre has to offer.
>Should I play Live a live?

Do you like them more than Contra?
truly a mystery, what binds you to these games
Franchise killers or dev killers?
Based on what I've played (the original Contra, III, Hard Corps, & ReBirth vs MS1, 2 & X so far) probably. Metal Slug just has such good spritework, the music is a lot stronger (if less fitting to the action than Contra), and the creativity of the bosses, setpieces, and weapons/power-ups is insane. I'm gonna give 3 a shot tonight since a lot of people like that best alongside X. I have 4 & 5 lined up as well in the pack some user made recently, but I'll try and emulate 6, 7/XX, Advance, and maybe the two NGPC ones after.

>8/9 didn't like ffX
>Gives 9/9 to another 3x3 with FFX in the same post
JA2 you can completely flip the game on its head based on how you approach situations and build characters, Deus Ex the story changes based on your actions, not dialogue and there are a gorillion ways to do things based on your character build and loadout.
Arcanum can be completed with you killing every single NPC, or not any humanoids at all. Are you saying that melee, magic, charisma/follower and tech builds don't change the way the game plays? Many of the times you change the story of Deus Ex, it is represented in a character giving you a lecture or praise, and altering the items they give you, but besides that what changes?
Yea idk i always think shit like that too. Like i love pokemon but top 9? Nah not even close.
>Mega Man 5
It's good but why? There's like eight or so Classic games I'd put above it.
>besides that what changes?
You are on the normalfag plantation of branching storylines being some massive positive. How you affect the gameplay is important, not the story. In Deus Ex, the way you play the game is what alters things. Brother tells you to run out the window during a UNATCO raid? If you do the most unintuitive thing possible and run in the opposite direction towards the raid you unlock a secret down the road. The game is packed with stuff like that. Your actions genuinely affect the game world, so despite being railroaded, it doesn't feel scripted. Picking faction A over faction B is just retarded and not immersive in any way.
When you choose to develop technological or magical skills in Arcanum, it alters the power of magical spells, affects the sucess rate of technological skills, and runs with you for the entire game. When you help or harm a town, it affects the people's reaction to you, changing how NPCs deal with you.
While I like Paul as a character, what does saving him actually do? You get some nice conversation with him about the endings, which is great, but what else changes?
Favorite of the classic series. There are more old games I could put on there but this was my first 3x3 and I was looking for a retro title to put on there.
Hundreds of hours on multiple playthroughs over the years.
Honorable mentions go to Melee, 3rd strike, Bastion, Devil may cry 3, and pokemon black 2.
>what else changes?
>You are on the normalfag plantation of branching storylines being some massive positive
Its the journey, not the destination.
>When you help or harm a town, it affects the people's reaction to you, changing how NPCs deal with you.
Again, this is just A or B, good or evil. The same dumb shit that gets shoehorned into every single nuRPG.
Let me ask you this. Whats better, a game where you go from town to town picking A or B a bunch of times, or a game with big world/open levels with zero handholding where its entirely up to you to figure out how to reach a singular goal? Like look at Betrayal At Krondor. It just drops you in this huge world, tells you everything is fucked and then just leaves you to your own devices for survival and figuring out what to do. You walk around the whole damn world where 99% of the content has absolutely nothing to do with how you beat the game and the continent is covered with mercenaries and pirates that desperately want to murder you, but the more you explore, the more you learn.
>Hundreds of hours on multiple playthroughs over the years.
why, did you not have a computer
Much of the questlines in Arcanum have several ways to solve quests that do not change your alignment. The fundamental stuggle between technology and magic is completely independent from this morality system, and the choices you make one way or the other affect the gameplay without tying you to follow good or evil. I certainly would prefer RPGs to use a law/chaos meter and reduce the amount of quests that give you the choice of Hitler 2.0 vs Jesus Christ, but I fail to see how an RPG stops being an RPG simply because it holds on to your karmic rap sheet and lets you read it. When you start Fallout 1/2, you have a goal, but you can take a number of routes to get there. The journey is what is interesting, it's what people remember.
>technology and magic
A or B
Cope.
You can get builds that mostly fight with melee, ranged, charisma/follower. You can combine these with magic or tech aptitude. Magic opens up options like summoning and buffing yourself, while tech lets you make bombs and traps. There's a lot more than A or B.
Kek
MGS4 is awful and you should feel bad
6/6

>Magic opens up options like summoning and buffing yourself, while tech lets you make bombs and traps.
wow, just like literally every other CRPG
>MGS is awful and you should feel bad
ftfy
>shame someone for liking MGS4
>final fantasy game in 3x3
ahahaha
I didn't realize we were arguing over the most unique gameplay mechanic in a CRPG.
I was under the impression that you were trying to explain why Arcanum wasn't a milquetoast CRPG at best that people jerk off because its completely bloated with A or B.
>milquetoast
This.
You wouldn't say that saving Paul Denton or jumping out the window is a choice between A or B?
Based.
looks retarded
