Anyone else enjoying the comfiest game on the comfiest console?
Divinity OS 2 on Switch

How is it? I heard it has the cringy Bioware/Obsidian """"comedy"""" instead of an actual story?
Does it have crossplay w/ PC or just crossave?
Can you use mods? If not I highly recommend just getting the pc version
I wanted to play it two years ago, when it came out, but my laptop sucks. Happily playing it now, just scaped Fort Joy and stuck with Kniles the Flenser.
I really suck at this game. Had experience with BG, and Pillars of Eternity, but watching videos in youtube I see people hitting 3 times harder than my party and with much better equip.
Sadly only crosssave with Steam, no crossplay.
Port is pretty good otherwise, very consistent framerate even with lots of effects going on. Looks very nice in handheld mode and passable on a TV.
no
and no, just crossave.
>Looks very nice in handheld mode
>That
>Nice
You couldn't shill harder if you tried, Bernd.
A super OP tip with kniles: You can put the caskets lying around infront of the cages with creatures inside them. They then require a good 20 extra turns to punch their way through, plenty of time to deal with kniles and his servants first
It has a great combat system and god tier exploration, don't play it for the story though
I started a coop campaign with a friend and we had to load on every step we made, didn't know if we were that bad or the game is really hard, but then we changed to 'explorer' difficult setting and now it feels too easy...
>divinity os 2
oh is that like a new operating system? that's cool, where do i get it
>You can put the caskets lying around infront of the cages
I tried it, but the "move" option is disabled in the menu. I also read that with a ranger I could kill the monks and the golems without triggering the battle, and didn't work either. I guess they fixed it? I will keep trying the regular way, but it is overwhelming when the monks and the golems reach the party if Kniles is still alive.
I thought it was a new fork of Android at first.
Its not a bug, but intentional. Your character needs a certain strength level to move heavy objects
What attribute should I upgrade when playing as a Summoner? Not sure if my Intelligence have to do with my summons damage (I don't think so).
Put a ranger on the high ground, where his study is. Set up a nice pool of whatever you want and teleport his ass into it. Watch as he gets obliterated by stupid ass high ground dmg while everything explodes below him.
The golems take ages to come out and he should be dead twice over before the first flesh golem even breaks a door. Ignore his cronies and go to town on his ass.
Wit for initiative and Memory for more spells. Int is largely useless aside from buffing your auxiliary skills but even then, you can do without. Some Con too.
The story is serviceable but easily the weakest aspect of the game.
already am playing the comfiest game
Another good idea is to steal his charm grenade if one of your characters has enough points in thievery
>steady framerate
Lets have a number faggot
>looks very nice
>those character portraits
Oh my fucking god
Where my fellow summoner chads at?
I'm an idort and already played through the game on PC, the graphics look fine for a handheld.
You are a sad individual for trying to consolewarshit a handheld, I'm not taking your bait.
>the graphocs look fine for a handheld
So 720p 30fps then. Obviously
Just wait till you get to the blackpits, faggot. Im sure you know what's coming
Something really is broken with me that I look at that pic and think "damn, that's a lot of nice feet, lucky guy"
>the graphics look fine for a handheld.
I've seen cheap Vita games with higher resolution than that, don't ever pretend those graphics are "fine", they're worse than PC on the lowest setting, I don't even want to imagine the framerate, especially mid game onwards with necrofire, especially in the Blackpits.
It's so sad this game is worse in every way over Divinity Original Sin 1 but still a masterpiece! I hope they will deliver a true sequel sooner or later that tops the first game.
I will be when switch lite comes out
You heard wrong.
No you haven't.
>bet it runs bad in the lategame lol
>noo 30 frames isn't acceptable in a turn based game
>720p is bad on a 6 inch screen
>NOOO you aren't allowed to have fun on the platform I don't like
>t. seething nintendie
Not even consolewarring man, its just a fact. Those graphics you call 'fine for a handheld' are absolute ass, even for a handheld
>no argument
Not that guy but not sure what you are on about. He mentioned accurate analysis, not to be lost in translation. You have proven to have poor reading comprehension. Try harder
I am kinda hopeful that with Baldurs Gate 3, Larian atleast sticks to some kind of real ruleset and not the retarded design decisions in DOS2
>£45
why do they keep charging so much for switch ports? the PC version at its normal price is £30
>i-im totally an idort, guys! It's not the switch's fault that it is such trash that even games that run smooth 60 on craptops still cant hit minimal benchmarks on my super advvanced console! Its totally worth it!!!!
The absolute state
I hope they will make it a trpg because I couldn't care less for an rtwp.
Licensing fee's. The PC version should always be cheaper than console/handheld versions.
>rtwp
Nostalgiafags who want this are completely fucking retarded, rtwp IS turn based
Dont worry. Game becomes dogshit easy at the mid-late act 2 even if you dont abuse mechanics
Your bait is shit
Original DOS2 on PC had literally powerpoint-tier framerate.
>He mentioned accurate analysis
Said accurate analysis is as nonexistent as your grasp on the english language.
No, you are console warring. Being delusional enough that you genuinely think any vita game looks better than that is pathetic.
Looking at these screenshots on my phone has me excited to play on the switch lite. That screen is only 5.5" so this will look fine.
lonewolf + summoner is the way to go fags
Try getting 60fps on a crappy laptop in this game, I dare you.
What is so bad about Original Sin 2? I only played this one and I'm really enjoying it.
>dogshit easy
>Aetera
>Roost Anlon
fuck them, ESPECIALLY Aetera, who can not only drain source from her summons but can also make more summons with literally zero cooldown
you can get the PS4 version for like £30 as well, this shit is annoying since I prefer playing these long games on the switch but fuck paying £15 extra for no reason
>I need 100+ fps for my turn based CRPGs minimum
Kek what? Are you playing on a 560ti still?
Already did, and finished it 4 times. The game, especially DE run really well on standard issue laptops. Yes, the blackpits fight is ass, but that's literally it
>standard issue laptops
Define this. Please also specify the settings/resolution used.
it's pretty comfy
>Your bait is shit
You mean like your overpriced console? Or like the overpriced version of the game you bought to play on your overpriced console?
>$199
>overpriced for the most powerful gaming handheld ever.
>Being delusional enough that you genuinely think any vita game looks better
They do though? Most Switch games also do, no need to look for the Vita, which only makes it extra embarassing, look at how blurry the fucking portraits are, which are literally just in game screenshots and not even renders.
You're paying more than any other platform to play the worst version of the game, apologizing for it AND also saying other people they're the one who're consolewarring.
>What is so bad about Original Sin 2
It's a Larian game.
4GB ram, I5, Nvidia GTX 1050, runs a buttery smooth1080p 60fps
This is standard fare now, keep up
Some dumb design decisions to appease casuals, mainly:
>falling for lazy quest markers when the first game didn't have them
>physical/magic armor system tries to remove RNG but introduces issues of its own, mainly forcing you to focus on one damage type with your party
>initiative is a completely useless stat because you zig-zig turns with the enemy no matter what you do
>generally casualized combat system
>level scaling gets absurd in later levels, with exponential stats on equipment forcing you to keep your gear constantly upgraded
>most powerful gaming handheld ever
>cant even do 60fps for a fucking TBS game released 2 years ago that does 60 fps on everything else
Oh my sides
That's not standard fare. That's a $1000 gaming laptop. A standard fare laptop wouldn't even have a dedicated GPU.
It's a great game, but OS1 is better. It's a downgrade in most ways and plays generally worse with even worse writing and story then the first. The pacing is terrible and everything was dumbed down a little. Itemization reached a new low as well.
They tried really hard but they just couldn't reproduce the magic of the first game. Also Kirill died and couldn't do the soundtrack.
It runs at 30fps on an Xbox One X too.
The game doesn't run at 60 frames on the PS4 and Xbox you cum guzzling retard.
Atleast get your facts straight when shitting up my thread
>Text size doesn't scale in handheld mode
Oh no fuck that, ain't reading no 3 point font. I'll stick with PC even if I can't play that lying down.
I bought a pretty standard laptop and can get 60 FPS on it. I spent maybe $50 on it from Microsoft store.
>A standard fare laptop wouldn't even have a dedicated GPU
ESL spotted
all laptops of today come with atleast a 960-tier GPU and are around 300-500 if you look in the right place. And even those can run this game at 1080p 60fps
The blurry portraits are a problem. Larian should have had the UI render at native resolution and the 3d aspects at sub. Otherwise though the game does look better than it has any right to on a handheld.
And no, that vita game doesn't look anywhere close to as good as the screenshots ITT nor is it higher resolution.
In America 90% of laptops are integrated graphics only. What are you smoking?
And no, a 960 couldn't get 1080p 60fps in this game either.
>960-tier
Maybe the mobile equivalent but nowhere near the desktop hardware, lmao. That's still only in gaming laptops. Not even that user you were replying too but c'mon, don't be retarded.
Are you high? Ofc a 960 can 1080 @ 60 Div:OS2.
Take a look at what's available at a local electronics store. You'd be surprised
>544p
>can't sustain consistent 30
>barely any geometry
>mobile game tier character shading
come on user
Literally nothing. Yea Forums is just contrarian and elitist about trivial things and puts dumb shit on pedestals. It's a great game. I admit the pacing gets really fucked up, particularly acts 3 and 4, but other than that, I haven't noticed any major flaws.
user... please take a look at the difference between mobile and desktop gpu's.
>but other than that, I haven't noticed any major flaws.
Because you don't play RPGs.
Yeah, that's a pretty good analysis of OS:2 on the Switch.
No I'm not high. I have an autistic knowledge base of GPU performance metrics. A 960m cannot run OS2 at 60fps stable. Neither can any ULV intel CPU.
Proof I'm correct
youtu.be
>50fps average
>not even highest settings
>falling for lazy quest markers when the first game didn't have them
Eh.
>physical/magic armor system tries to remove RNG but introduces issues of its own, mainly forcing you to focus on one damage type with your party
I understand this shits on hybrid builds which is like around 30% of class combinations but in the hardest difficulty this wasn't an issue. It might be an issue if people suck at video games but given that in the hardest difficulty (which if you ask me is the only way to play this game) you had to manage multiple enemies at once it was fine having a 2-2 or 1-3 magic-physical split in your team because you had to fuck multiple targets immediately or you will simply lose the fight and one dedicated magic user let you do that. The real issue in the game is that magic is significantly weaker than physical due to magic having cooldowns and physical has basic attacks.
>initiative is a completely useless stat because you zig-zig turns with the enemy no matter what you do
To prevent us from initiative-CC-cheesing every fight, which I unfortunately did in the first game. The zig-zag is an improvement and first-turn initiative is still a massive advantage.
>generally casualized combat system
I dunno about that. The first game went from stacking buffs and combo CCing people to stacking buffs and having a more difficult time CCing people
>level scaling gets absurd in later levels, with exponential stats on equipment forcing you to keep your gear constantly upgraded
This is true and was somewhat annoying later into the game because you were doing a lot of shopping. But for 3/4 of the game until the major fights of the third act you could pretty much take every fight with inexpensive basic non-magic weapons and armor from the store so long as it was the same level as you.
You can blame the game for having a shit loot system, which is fine, but I wouldn't hold it against the game.
>aetera
When I got to her I cast blood rain and GaotS, basically stunning and nuking her in 2 turns.
>roost
same thing except without 3rd rate source spells.
Theyre not hard bosses if you fulfill the level requirements. The problem is that players go in level 12 and 13 instead of 14 or 15
They know that they can get away with it.
USF2 which is a port of SF2HD, a 15€ PSN/XBLA game, with a few extras was sold for 40€
>50 fps
>turn-based game
What's the problem user?
Theres nothing wrong with the performance. But there is something wrong with claiming it hits 60fps solid when it doesnt.
30fps stable on the switch is good.
People who didn't learn the importance of +1/-1 to enemy level parity by that point are retarded and their complaints about difficulty pretty much deserve no attention.
Complaining about a companion's questline end-boss being hard is the most ignorant shit.
I see no reason to buy this game again, especially an inferior version.
>switches to 1600x900
>consistent 55+ FPS
Even in less than minimal requirements, you can get 60fps for the second highest graphics setting, you absolutely buttblasted inbred
Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that GTX 550 is the minimum requirement?
Magic has basic attacks if you use wands/staffs.
>900p and still can't hit 60fps solid
You faggots are liars.
>still cant hit 60fps solid
except it did when resolution was lowered slightly
Try reading the framerate counter in the video again after wiping your tears, faggot
>960m
fucking retard then write the M
The problem with wands and staffs is that their damage scaled with your Int and however many points you put into their respective elemental school. Because as a mage you don't want to be dumping all your points into one school; having 3-Hydro early before you even have 3-Hydro spells is useless. You'll always be better off spreading out your points among multiple schools to maximize your spellslinging. Not to mention that often you'll want to use wands that buff skills regardless of their damage types and sometimes will end up with a fire wand when you're a water mage.
Whereas a physical build will focus on the Strength or Dex stat but can dump all their points into Warfare or Marksmanship regardless whether or not they have access to the skills and they're good to go. They only care about the damage their weapon does more than the auxiliary buffs attached tot he weapon where mages care more about the buffs.
> I have an autistic knowledge base of GPU performance metrics
No you fucking dont
Explain to me then why a 960M cant run this game at 60fps stable, when the minimum requirement listed is a GTX 550, and any comparison of the two shows them to be very close in terms of performance?
aetera was pretty brutal but thankfully I had mind control jars so I quickly stripped the ice doggos of their magic armor then mind controlled them.
Oh yeah, those shits explode and deal heavy ice damage when killed, that was a nice 'fuck you' from the devs
>real rule set
Go ask /tg/ what they think about your real ruleset.
Combo wanding was fine early when the percentage boosts to your damage didn't really matter (as much) and the lack of damage from stats was offset by the fact you could inflict status effects with the wand damage if you burned through their magic armor.
That being said, later you definitely could not depend on wand damage and even with the statuses you often preferred to be doing something else.
If you want a dedicated ruleset go play Kingmaker, a game that is insufferable due to its near-strict adherence to a ruleset.
We're playing fucking video games, not a tabletop. Given the choice between Divinity's cooldowns and Kingmaker's forced rest system after every time you accidentally walk to the tree and need to go back to town I'll take Divinity every fucking time.
>switch game thread
>absolutely assmad “pcfag” throws a tantrum
Hmm
>actually using your wands to attack
u wot m8
Am I the only one who memorized a crapload of magic skillls so had literally no reason to use wand damage because I could just cycle through my magic instead?
this is such a retarded meme, framerate is just as important for aesthetics as resolution if not moreso
/tg/ is full of retarded shit-tier dms who think their house rules are good and their campaigns aren’t shit, telling someone to ask them for opinion on pnp systems is like telling you to ask Yea Forums‘s opinion on popular games
>absolutely assmad “pcfag” throws a tantrum
>over a shitty console getting a shitty port with subpar graphics that's actually priced higher than a non-sale pc price
peak delusion
>he keeps going
Then its a good thing that you can hit stable 60 on 900p instead of 1080p if your machine is absolute crap, isnt it?
>55 = 60
Kill yourself
We're talking about laptops you fucking spastic
Because minimum spec is not 60 fps, dumb dumb
You couldn't have that many spells unless you thieved and sold every item you found in Fort Joy for the skillbooks, which personally isn't fun to do in video games anymore. Short of that, you used your wands for damage, which was fine because you could inflict burning and poison easily.
What game?
>waaaah its 59 fps, not 60 fps that means youre wrong!
I dont know what's funnier, that a switchtard thinks he knows what good graphics is, or you're literally nitpicking the smallest things in hopes that your switch doesnt look as shitty in comparison to a craptop
Protip-that performance is still better than anything your console will ever spit out. Please do try to prove me wrong
Why thank you, captain obvious
>explain why the minimum hardware requirement to run a game can’t run it at 60 fps
>not killing the filthy druggie lizard
>not killing the camp boss and all his book-selling cronies so you could loot their copses
>not killing that traitorous faggot and grabbing all his aerothurge spells
Really man, did you actually play this game? You dont even have to try and your inventory will get overloaded with books
Its funny, since I left Driftwood at level 16 I already had poly and bloodmagic going for me so levels actually stopped mattering. Even the burning witch and big voidling were like a checklist of things I needed to nuke before leaving.
Honestly, they should have never ever made Apotheosis and skin graft a thing. The ability to throw 7 source points worth of AoE within two turns is absurd. On top of that you have executioner, adrenalin and elemental whatever so you use like 15 normal points alongside it. T
The game was not designed around respecing, it shows so bad. Even the basic end game build of poly and a skill of your choosing breaks the damn thing.
The drought is really taking its toll, if DS gets delayed this place will be hell
Of course a switch is not as powerful as a laptop. Who has stated otherwise? Who would expect otherwise?
The graphics in handheld look good enough for handheld, and better than the laptop equivalent could run it (920m).
And don't claim something runs at 60fps if it doesnt.
>55=59
Fuck you
meant for
I get the game the other day.
Its really that good?.
>Of course the most powerful handheld console ever still loses miserably to a standard issue craptop! Who would expect otherwise? 720p 30fps is good for handhelds!
Holy shit the cope is off the charts
>still defends his shitch
I thought that infinite respec was the best thing ever and should basically be in every game. That way they could make the game punishingly difficult and let players actually do some learning instead of shotgunning everything throughout the game.
And if at the end there's some truly horrendous broken shit it's unfortunate but worth the benefits of being able to experiment. I didn't min-max to the degree where I rolled every fight without difficulty. I abused Blight Widows for a bit then stopped myself; Apotheosis looked broken but I didn't dwell on it to discover how it could be. But I don't think that's a good argument against respec just a matter of shit balancing; the respec is great.
I love the gameplay so much but the loading times kill it for me.
Hello Eric, you finally moving on from DQXI and Astral Chain I see.
Nigger, switch has 237ppi (267 for lite) at 720p.
720p on the switch is objectively superior to what 99.9% of pc gamers look at.
Apotheosis is absolutely fucking broken, especially as lone wolf Fane
>elf form
Turn 1
>flesh sacrifice
>apotheosis
>time warp
>tactical retreat closer to enemies
>teleport
>nether swap
>skin graft
>end turn
Extra turn
>nether swap
>teleport
>Thick of the fight(get a 60% bonus minimum)
>peace of mind (if you have the AP for it)
>Pyroclastic eruption
And that's how I beat Adramahlihk in one turn. ONE FUCKING TURN
>720p 30fps is objectively superior to 1080p 60fps default graphic settings that run on most PCs these days that 99.9% of PC gamers look at!
Dont bother picking a fight with PCfags, you know as well as them how horribly outclassed you are
Imagine not just
>2x blood storms and 2x zombie hands for 7k damage
>2 blood storms and 2 grasp of the starved
You would still need somebody to clump them all together because GotS has such a small range, and thick of the fight to actually deal that level of catastrophic damage
I wasn't really into the Lone Wolf thing. I feel like you miss out on two companion's worth of story playing like that. Personal feelings aside I don't feel offended that anything is broken using Lone Wolf; it's an entirely different game and I don't expect them to balance it that heavily.
The bulk of the game felt fairly balanced for 4 characters and I felt like every fight was satisfying and challenging to a degree. If Lone Wolf is completely broken I don't hold that against them at all and would treat it as hilariously fun.
>t. 72ppi peasant
>Switch/Lite 250$-350$ GPU power about = to 920m or a slower MX150 with CPU power somewhere between a top end Atom processor and a low end 7th gen Pentium
>Laptop for 250$-350$ mid end Atom or a low end 6th-8th gen celeron/pentium with Integrated gfx that at most is about half of the power as a MX150
I think its funny that people like to shit on the switch but never bring up the fact that the only way to get comparable power is to buy a used mid-high end laptop/high end phone or get ungodly lucky and swipe a good laptop on a clearance sale. Sure, you can get MUCH better hardware than the switch, but it will at the very least cost twice as much.
Really looks like total garbage to be honest. They could have done a better job porting, there are better looking Switch games than that that run better.
>You would still need somebody to clump them all together because GotS has such a small range
Thats just depends on how you position sempai
>Thick of the fight to actually deal that level of catastrophic damage
You really dont, necromancer skills alone push the damage to 20-60k with setup, no crit.
I just couldn't endure constantly equipping 4 characters. 2 is bad enough.
Having played a full party game and two lone wolf runs (one of them a solo sworn fane run in which I came up with that strategy), I totally agree
Full party is fun,due to the sheer variety of attacks and strategies you can have them all pull off-the battles are longer, strategies need forward thinking because your team members are much squishier, etc.
Lone wolf runs are just about how skillfully you can twist the game into a pretzel and laugh at its tears
Different guy. That's Darkest Dungeon. And it is comfy.
>can you use mods
No. Most console games don’t have mod support, especially on Switch.
>30fps switchtard calling anyone a peasant
kek keep going lolcow
>it will at the very least cost twice as much
Bargain hunting is not that hard, especially during the holiday seasons. And even if you designate a laptop for gaming, you can still use it for project work, and typing up theses and shit
My point is that a console, a device made specifically for gaming is still worse than craptops that shouldnt even be used for gaming to begin with
Post rig with timestamp so I can laugh
Oh god the Hall of Echoes tree already had a frame rate in the teens on Xbox/PS4.
I can’t imagine how bad it’ll be in handheld mode on the Switch.
>My point is that a console, a device made specifically for gaming is still worse than craptops that shouldnt even be used for gaming to begin with
They are not though, I have a laptop that I bought for 450$ a year ago and this POS can barely play indie games without sounding like a jet engine or just giving me sub-20/30 fps. I actually tried getting DOOM 2016 running on this fucking thing and it never got above 20fps during gameplay and looked worse than the switch version.
Sure, its nice to have it to surf the web but the abyssmal 2-3 hour battery life and the fact that it is large enough for me to have to carry it around in an almost empty backpack makes it about as portable as my fucking ps4.
It can do a lot of other stuff (poorly) that the switch can't do at all but since I cant even run Issac on this thing without the framerate shitting itself during longer runs just makes it a much worse gaming device than even my phone.
Does the oil rig crash the system?
>Post rig with timestamp so I can laugh
Come on, poorfag. No one with anything to his name worth shit feeds his ego by comparing his shitstation to a handheld.
>comparing shitstation to a handheld
>when the entire thread is about comparing craptops to a shitty handheld
Kek and lolcow keeps on giving
720p 60fps > 1080p 30fps
any day
Let's be honest here, the vast majority of Switch players won't even make it to the oil rig before putting the game down.
People don't finish games. They just don't. It doesn't matter what platform. It's a minority that anybody would play this thing on Switch as the Switch's audience more than any other platform probably doesn't give a shit about CRPGs. And of that minority, most of them probably have too much money sitting around and would only buy Divinity out of hype. And so of that small minority of players, and even smaller minority are the sort of people who for some fucking reason are only able to play it on the Switch and therefore will finish it.
Every adult I know who uses a Switch as their primary platform aren't the sort of people who finish games - they're using the thing as an advanced mobile gaming device when they have some sort of downtime; they're just looking to play something, anything; finishing it (or bonding with others over god forbid a story) isn't a priority.
No since the animations can be handled in chunks
The thread is about a video game, you are the only poorfag itt.
Post specs, fag.
Already did nintendie, I'll even link it for you Feel free to cry your eyes out now for buying a shitch. Go on
>bonding with others over god forbid a story
Where the fuck did this come from and what games do you even play that you “bond with others over a story” through?
I didn’t ask to type some shit, I told you to post the actual specs with a timestamp.
So the story is garbage?
Nothing you have said in that memetext looks ridiculous at all. That's extremely fair and rational.
Not really, its fine. Good interactivity between the main characters though and lots of replayability.
The idea that it's filled to the brim with epic reddit humor is bizarrely inaccurate. That would describe borderlands or outer worlds, this game is pretty normal with the balance between serious and humor. As in there's not much humor at all.
Maybe if I had a magnifying glass since I only play handheld on my Switch.
RNG the game
>post a bunch of screenshots that show how blurry your port machine is
>throw a fit when people with working eyes point this out
Nintenchildren literally paid 350$ for a port machine that cant even run what it gets ported lmao
The screenshots look fine on a small screen though, which is the intention. The only people throwing fits ITT are people mad that we're not playing the game on leg furnace $500 laptops instead of a hanndheld with 6 hours of battery life.
