Be honest, Yea Forums. Are you actually good at Smash? Or do you rosterfag because you know you're not?

I'm decent but I enjoy playing ground oriented characters over ones that rely on aerials

I'm too good to play with my casual friends but too shit to play competitively.

Fuck me.

Thanks for another smash thread you dick in the booty ass faggot.

If I had to rank myself I'd be about 3/10 at Smash. I genuinely seethe playing in lobbies but I have fun with friends even if I play badly.

I dont own it

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Smash is Yea Forums culture you stupid neanderthal niggerfaggot.

i got into elite with ridley and bowser jr, but i dunno how relevant that is

Not good at smash, don't rosterfag because I don't really have favorite characters in vidya, just favorite vehicles and guns
and any character I do like wouldn't make sense in smash at all

Here's all you need to know about me: i bought smash ultimate for the singleplayer.

I'm decent enough. I only fight my best friend locally though since my internet is shit, but from watching tournaments I think I'm a tad above average.

Attached: 1509481079564.gif (350x464, 301K)

How come in lobbies and when playing with friends I am super chill, playing better and having fun but when I am on quick play I am litlrey seething and making constant mistakes? Now that I have got my mains into elite I never wanna touch that mode again.

Attached: 1567983772281.png (409x387, 309K)

I'm not the best, but I've won two locals in my time.

I got to Elite Smash with Ganondorf because I enjoy the slow/heavy type in most games I play and Zelda is my favorite series.

Attached: 1512003679556.jpg (723x818, 490K)

I'm garbage at alot of the basic neutral that anyone past 4mil would use, and Bowser is my only elite smash character. I only am any good at punishing my opponents mistakes and up b outa shield

Oh so you're a faggot and retarded.

I have Elite Smash with all characters and my GSP won't go any higher with some of them.. does that count?

I got into elite smash, but honestly I'm not sure why?

Ive got my mains in elite so Id say I’m at least ok. Im definitely not “good” like Pro level but I’m above average I’d say. Proper spacing, mixing up ledge options, etc.

>dominate in Bros. Melee and Brawl
>frequently suicide in Switch version

I keep losing track of where I am. I think it's all the smoke and effects when you hit each other. Every time we clash or hit at the same time and both go flying I have no idea which one is me. Name tags don't even help much.

Also I really hate the cheezy power up modes the newer characters tend to have. Never saw that shit in Melee or Bros.

I play wii fit trainer and the only one I'm good at and she's fun. As much I want to main villager too, I can't get him right just yet.

I always play non projectile users as villager and when I switch, I get links, nesses and other spammy projectile users.

>get to elite with my main
>win my frist match in elite
>retire with 100% elite winrate

Attached: 1476162654107.jpg (480x484, 21K)

who do you play as?

>purposefully lose so i can fight a noob on quickplay
>he keeps rematching me so i keep fighting him
>my GSP gets to elite thanks to him feeding me free wins
>the second it does i leave

I'm decent at Melee/PM/Ult. Taken some games off of some high level players here in MDVA in Melee/PM (best player so far I've beat is HAT)

in Ult, Elite Smash w/ everyone but Bayo. Haven't played a game with Bayo at all tho since I'm extremely autistic and preserve the ability to see my "default" GSP. Haven't gone to Ult tournaments since I live in the middle of nowhere now and its hard to go anywhere so idk how I fare other than being an elite smash shitlord. Probably not well.

If you played a game and your GSP didn't go up it means your opponents are disconnecting because you're beating their ass, not because you're so high you can't increase any further

I've placed at a few regional scale event and won locals whenever I was strapped for cash, always drowned in pools at larger events like Big House.
Not that big a fan of Ultimate because it feels too spammy, so I just make and post in Rosalina threads these days.

Attached: Rosatiddies.png (128x128, 21K)

>no communication with the other player
>constant lag
>dogshit ranking system
>link, ness/lucas, belmonts, ganondorf, joker, lucina, and over and over again
It would take a saint to not get pissed after a while.

Fuck no, I'm garbage.
I just like playing as my favorite characters.
This game's been great as literally all my never-evers got in and I main them now.
Yeah, I suck, but I'm having fun with them and that's all that matters to me.

I'm good at smash and I hate rosterfags. I care more about how fun a moveset is than the actual identity of a character.

Mario, Young Link, Little Mac and Simon

>can enter elite smash with some effort
>mfw a few matches later

Attached: screencap Screenshot 2019-09-08 21-37-13.png (1920x1080, 620K)

I went to my first local a month after Ultimate dropped and got 9th out of 50 dudes. I don't know if that's considered good but I'm sure as hell satisfied with my placement. So much that I havent touched the game since.

>buy DLC now that banjo is out
>try joker cause p5 was pretty fun
>feels pretty good, my kind of playstyle
>apparently he's fucking broken and I'm a p2w fraud
>lose anyway
life is suffering

I'm good, but the online is an abortion

>pick a character for serious fights
>endless slideshow of lag
>pick a character to fuck around with
>Joker
>WITH lag

I don't know how they can't give us somewhat decent online. I can play Splatoon with seven other nips and get smooth matches.

Attached: tumblr_oj0xu6waTl1s2jfn0o1_1280.jpg (720x960, 114K)

I'm in a similar boat. I'd like to think I'm pretty decent at the game but if I went to an actual tournament, I'd probably be among the first eliminated.

Fighting game fag here.

I started playing Smash a bit more seriously with Ultimate releasing and because none of my friends give a fuck about traditional fighting games and after learning more about the game, I fucking hate people who say Smash is a baby game or easy. There are SO many mechanics and retarded nuances in the game, almost to the detriment to the game.
>Angling of Smash and tilt attacks for no fucking reason
>Have to do different combos at different percents
>Moves can be stale to varying degrees, which means you can't ever be sure how much knockback/percent a move is going to do at any given time
>Can be in "Rage" mode which changes the damage and knockback of multiple moves
>RNG elements like G&W or Peach
>Elements interacting with each other, like Red Pikmin being immune to certain "fire" based attacks
>Directional Influence
>Character height varies so much that certain moves are useless/result in you getting punished on certain characters (far Heavy Kick as Ryu whiffs on Pikachu)
>Character weight varies so much that certain moves are useless/result in you getting punished on certain characters (Inkling Rapid Jab causing Bowser to fall out of it instantly but no other character)
>How safe/unsafe moves are on shield is determined by jump height and can vary.
>So many overlapping inputs
>Have to manage which direction you're facing
>So many panic options that lose to different shit.
>Tech chasing
>Five different ledge options
>FUCKING SHIELD TILTING???
In a normal fighting game, when you do a move that is unsafe, you get punished for it, but in Smash you can Spot Dodge, Roll, Short Hop/Full Hop whenever you're at disadvantage and the opponent has to guess what you're going to do (at least from what I have gathered). Some of this is in normal fighting games like Tech Chasing, but Smash is retardedly complex for a game that everyone writes off as being "for babies" or "easy". Also 99% of people who think they're good at Smash are actually shit at it.

Attached: 1566668741196.jpg (750x842, 182K)

No. I literally mean my GSP no longer goes any higher with some characters. It capped at around 5.5 million or a bit less (and of course gradually increases as more players get online).

It happens every match with them until I lose one, but the next time I win it caps again.

I’m maining Banjo now but I refuse to go online because I’ll get destroyed and feel like shit.

I'm okay. I've played my current Ultimate main on and off since Melee. I win some online tournaments and do decently at locals, but haven't won one. I've only been to two, but I hope to go more regularly to get better. For whatever reason, playing for gsp makes me nervous and play poorly but having my ass kicked in person doesn't. Neither do arenas or online tournaments. It's just a number, so I wish I'd realize that and have as much fun playing for gsp as I have playing smash in arenas, online tourneys, and offline locals.

I know enough about Smash to know just how hopelessly bad I am.

Same, it sucks.
I usually have to just play characters I suck with, or else I'll end up winning without even trying. But I don't give enough of a shit about competitive play to want to play competitive.

I’m a tourney goer. I play Lucas because I like Mother 3 and he’s also sick as fuck

>It feels too spammy
That’s a dumb excuse for losing.

I'm actually really good at Smash! I go to locals and everything! I always stomp on Yea Forums lobbies in the very few times they actually happen, I'll host RIGHT NOW if someone wants to go because I love fighting good players and getting better!

BUT Yea Forums AS A WHOLE IS SO FUCKING BAD AT SMASH, I HATE READING THREADS TALKING ABOUT BALANCING BECAUSE YOU PEOPLE HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT.
AAAAAAAAA

Attached: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.jpg (364x392, 51K)

cant get better if you don't practice
and yes i know that offline is better but quickplay assuming decent connection is still good for matches after 4.5+ mil GSP

Smash is for casuals who are too retarded to play real fighting games.

99% of fags who talk about Smash as a baby game don't actually play it and are drive by tourists. Even low tier Smash games require high levels of autism to understand all the matchups.

For everyone in this thread saying, "I'm in Elite, so, yeah I'm good :)"

No, you're fucking not. Elite Smash and GSP is a fucking HORRIBLE system for determining player skill. Even worse than traditional ELO systems used for other competitive games and even other fighting games.

>Amount of GSP you start with is determined by singleplayer content/other characters GSP rankings
>GSP is fucking confusing system that doesn't describe anything. How good is a 3,000,000 GSP player compared to a 4,000,000 GSP player? What does it even mean?
>And if you respond to this having some vague idea of what it means, do you ACTUALLY know what it means? Do you have a source to cite?
>Still gain and lose GSP for playing non-competitive party modes with items and free-for-alls
>Can use this to your advantage and cheese your way into Elite Smash when you didn't earn it
>Once you're in Elite Smash it's easier to get other characters in
GSP and Elite Smash is a HORRIBLE determination of player skill because I can say 100% for certain that I'M IN FUCKING ELITE SMASH and I am NOWHERE near a competent or good player. I got there just rollering fucking retards for HOURS as Inkling. Just because I am not as much of a braindead RETARD as all the little Timmy's out there that ALWAYS land with laggy ass aerials doesn't mean that I am top 10% or top 5% of the playerbase and if it does, then that's fucking sad and you're all idiots.

Offline is getting boring against CPUs. The only person I have to play with is a coworker and when he’s off it’s against the computer. I’ve been playing 8s and 9s and eventually they’re too predictable.

Top tier, top 8 reaching Smash players have commented on how safe so many of the actions in Ultimate are. Everything is low commitment and there is no hitstun.

>plays inkling
yikes!

Which coast user
This is vital to determine how much lag

how do you do in these locals?

East Coast! Do you wanna fight?

I have a couple characters in elite, not that that means much these days

Attached: 595e31e4fc8fffab09267ccd2de493dc.png (1400x1800, 1.4M)

You beat me to it. So I'll add on that I think the parry mechanic is poorly implemented and it doesn't offer advantaged states to you unless you have a quick combo starter that can hit the opponent. The most you'll get out of most parries is a lovetap, but it's usually nothing.

>TFW used to be competent at melee, but either my controller or adapter broke and I don't have the money to replace/fix it

Attached: AAAAAA.png (400x643, 353K)

i wish my town hosted locals. then i could find people IRL to practice with.

My locals are small but I always get at least top 8 and have won a few. The best player in our region goes by iModderz who got top 100 at EVO.

oh no i meant practice offline with real peopole. although i know for some areas that's not an option whihc sucks.

I rosterfag despite not ever have had a Nintendo console at all :^)

If I'm being objective I'm probably just a mid level player at best, If I actually took the time to lab shit, practice crucial matchups, and narrow my concentration down to a single character or two maybe I could be good but I'm too lazy to do that.

I atleast know that being better than my friends doesn't mean shit in the grand scheme of things.

Attached: 72238274_p0_master1200.jpg (849x1200, 667K)

>airdoge, spotdoge is safe 90% of the time, even at a high level
options are way to safe

>BUT Yea Forums AS A WHOLE IS SO FUCKING BAD AT SMASH, I HATE READING THREADS TALKING ABOUT BALANCING BECAUSE YOU PEOPLE HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT.
>AAAAAAAAA
how the hell would you know that from online matches, tho?

>Competitive as the grounds for measuring skill

Attached: 219837981.jpg (338x506, 71K)

it's honestly great how smash feels bigger than nintendo these days, with all the third parties. it's like a celebration of gaming, not just a celebration of one company

anybody who says 'im decent' is actually probably garbage and would go 0-2 at tournies.
Nothing to be ashamed of though really, everyone thinks theyre better than they actually are before they go to a real local.

As opposed to?

I can win locals but that's about it.

I've only played Ken since launch I have trouble with some specific match ups but I honest to God win over half my matches

pffahaha

I am not that good at the game but I still have a lot of fun playing with my friends. Some friends can’t beat me, others it’s a close match. Banjo and Kazooie were my most wanted, because I love their games so much, so it made me really happy when they got announced.

I'm too good to play with randos and too bad to play with casual friends. I am puzzled at this.

I'm bad I go 1-2 in locals and get depressed about it and don't go for a while. The transition from 4 to ult has not been easy. The controls feel clunkier and the characters I play feel different to play so I picked up new characters to play. I'm having fun, but I feel like I'm getting left behind skillwise at my local.

I'm pretty good at fighting games but for some reason I'm terrible at Smash. I think mixing up through by doing throw/air normal just kind of escapes me and having to remember when sequences change due to damage is kinda hard to get used to. Also I'm terrible at edgeguarding and the concept as a whole just kind of escapes me.

Bros...why does Mii Gunner suck so much?

I win my locals

im fucking awful

HOW THE FUCK do I find a main

Attached: 1544854070222.png (1280x1440, 1.21M)

nope, i didnt keep up with practicing over the years and now i just play for fun.

Attached: 1448864861655.jpg (450x450, 103K)

Keep playing the characters you find fun or "good". Before you know it you'll have a main or two.

I want to main pikachu but I think I'm too much of a brainlet

Attached: Pikachu (3).png (986x1226, 616K)

I'm always hopping characters. I don't even know my playstyle as I play half the cast with diverse playstyles. I know what I DONT like so that's something. Fucking hate character crisis.

Attached: quico1.jpg (581x581, 20K)

Average in the grand scheme of Smash but still shit. I use dash attacks and roll dodges way too fucking often and I'm terrible at teching and spot dodging and even being coherent of things like tech chase scenarios or dodge punishes. Got Banjo to Elite but dropped out the next day

i don't even have a switch

Attached: 1562271493852.jpg (1200x667, 130K)

The only tourney I ever won was a tiny local where I won by picking Random for every single match. Felt good. Besides that, I keep slaughtering my friends, and even after I tell them what they are doing wrong, they do not seem to improve.

Smash score is a pointless number because the game tries it's hardest to keep you in a certain tier. Losing in the 3mil range will absolutely devastate your GSP but once you're in the 5mil you can lose five times and not even drop 100k. Meanwhile I had Wario down at like 200k and winning at that low didn't give me shit for points either.

I'd say I'm at least a little better than average, got a few characters to Elite Smash. I don't really lab anything or practice beyond online matches though, and from what I've heard online and local are completely different experiences so I'd probably get annihilated at a local.
Could probably get pretty good if I took time to practice and broke my bad habits but getting style kills online is a lot more fun so fuck that

Attached: 909898.png (640x480, 6K)

Really? Pikachu should be perfect for you then.

I made it out of my pool at evo, is that good?

What's your moveset? Most use 1232 or 1332 iirc

Good enough to enter tourneys, suck enough to know I won't win any

>be 2M GSP
>win against 3M
>get 100k
>Next fight
>lose against 4M
>lose 800k
I want to have a "quick chat" with whoever designed this

Not him but I use 1331

I like the game but I have real difficulty playing the faster and more combo oriented characters. Also can't ledge deny for shit as I can't fight in the air at all. I currently main bowser(I like heavy playstyle and bowser) but I'm trying to learn banjo(grew up with rare games banjo kazoo and dk64)

I don't play Smash I just go into Smash threads and falseflag as a different characterfag each day because it's hilariously easy to piss you people off.

I consider myself a mid level player. I'm better than everyone I know but I wouldn't be able to win any locals.

My mains are Joker, Snake, and Ryu.

I'm not great but I think I have at least a basic level of competence. I'm really bad at anything precise and technical and don't even try to l-cancel in Melee/PM, but I crush my friend who practices tech because my neutral game generally makes up for it. We used to be fairly even but since Ultimate came out I've been a lot more dominant in our games.
I'd probably go 0-2 at a local but there aren't any nearby so I've never been able to actually try. I've had a few matches against top ranked players in my country online, either playing their off-characters in quickplay, or when they joined my lobby, and I got crushed (though annoyingly one time was when I was experimenting with a new control setup so I didn't get to at least give it my best try). I wish I could play against that level of skill more often, it's quite an experience.

I think I'm ok. I can spam rematches in Elite Smash for a few hours and not get kicked out. I main Ken.

You're talking about a mode where

>Heads
>3 stock 1v1 battlefield no items
or
>Tails
>3 minute FFA Moray Towers Smash Balls on

I quit playing matchmaking a long time ago.

>Character weight varies so much that certain moves are useless/result in you getting punished on certain characters (Inkling Rapid Jab causing Bowser to fall out of it instantly but no other character)
That's bowser's gimmick in addition to super armor on his moves he can act out of some hits he takes

I get top 8 at my locals, I could do better but my focus goes to melee and PM. No hate on ultimate. I thought the conversion was gonna make my local scene annoying, but they're all pretty chill dudes who some even picked up PM. They taught me some in's and out's for ultimate. I do enjoy playing the game for the newer characters. Shulk was my main since smash 4 back when he was D tier at best and I'm happy I stuck with him. Some the most fun I've had learning how to play a sword character.

My sissy boyfriend who constantly begs to suck my dick and get fucked by me always beats me. I feel emasculated bros every time we play bros. It's not supposed to be this way.

I'm good, but not great. I'm always trying to improve, I have played nothing but Banjo and Kazooie since they came out, and I've gotten to 5.5 million GSP with them, my new highest, and since picking them up, I've only dropped like 5 or 6 games with my friends, who I consider to be at or around my skill level. I have trouble with applying new strategies to my playstyle, I usually just do the same thing every match, for better or worse. I go to tourneys but almost always drown in pools, I've only ever won once.

Attached: 1567989451890.jpg (2048x1490, 462K)

What does one thing have to do with the other? Retard

I beat a few PR"d people but beating PR'd people in Yurop really isn't all that impressive, I guess i'm just ok.
Ult's kinda frustrating at times and I still prefer to play Melee or PM. Ult for FFAs and things of the kind though is pretty cool though you can't escape faggots even in that.
So many more people play lame these days

I'm fine enough. I was undisputed best in my circle of friends, but I guess after enough games on their own and against me, the gap closed up. I used to pick random and be able to get a fairly solid win. Now I have to pick characters I'm good with and pay attention. And every time they get a win their like "user you're fucking trash now, holy shit" and it tilts me to the Nth degree.

I've got a handful of characters in Elite, but I only ever use my main in Elite because he's the only character I know I can get back in realistically.

Attached: 1538879003893.jpg (188x191, 6K)

I'm absolute trash
Like complete and utter shit but I'm having fun so who gives a shit
I like Joker, Captain Falcon, and Snake

By what metric can I say I'm good at Smash? I've beaten tourneyfags in my local and got a couple characters into Elite, off the top of my head Bayonetta, Kirby, Hero, K. Rool, Dedede, Ridley, Piranha Plant, and Incineroar.

My highest gsp is Bowser at 500k

>Be honest, Yea Forums. Are you actually good at Smash? Or do you rosterfag because you know you're not?

YES. I'm a tourneyfag.

I need to play Ultimate more but overall in previous games and Smash flash 2 [\spoiler] I'm pretty good
But I'm better in Fighting games

?

Honestly I have no idea.
I played Ultimate for about a week then stopped when I tried online and found out it was completely unplayable.

I can't play it at all, my brain is kinda fucked
I only watch online matches and buy music from the shop with coins

Played at my country's local tournaments since the Brawl days, always been a mid-level player among the rest. Although the local scene is pretty much unrecognisable at this point, the new blood keeps leaning harder into retarded e-sports shit and supporting even more barren rulesets. Feels weird that the scene I made most of my current friends from seems so alien now.

I don't really give a shit about rosterfagging, the character I was rooting for became almost impossible with Joker's reveal, and my favourite 'function' has consistently been in the games since their introduction. Whoever gets in from here on is just a bonus.

Attached: 1490548411191.jpg (475x467, 30K)

This
I do my best though

I fee like I'm an advanced begginer, after 650 hours of ultimate. This being the most I've played smash in my life. 95% just snake, I don't think I would even play if snake wasn't in it. Mgs my favorite series.

My man. I don't think I would have been nearly as excited for Ultimate if it wasn't for my boy being back in. Though I was also hoping in vain for a Liquid or Big Boss echo.

idk im pretty good at the fundamentals of the game but i only want to play as little mac and megaman who are peetty bad characters

I’m good at smashing your mommmm lmao

>Online is so bad it demotivates me from wanting to play
>No friends to come over and play locally

I have dedede and rob in elite smash for like 2 months and i barely play

Attached: 1516592970908.png (650x600, 284K)

Cry harder fag

i actively make garbage threads in order to push out smash threads.

Attached: smash the juden.jpg (308x230, 19K)

I have the most fun playing low tier characters so no

If they take him out next game I'm out, it hurts that this might be the last game snake is in. I wish they would add his other custumes.

Attached: 1545347135534.png (490x627, 247K)

I'm alright, I've beaten one of my uni's compfag tournaments after getting my shit kicked in for a while.

>tfw Quickplay is so bad, the only way to get a decent free-for-all Smash is through the tourneys
Removing For Fun/Glory was a mistake

I'm just okay. I used to be better, but eventually I stopped playing a lot, and now I'm not as good anymore.

Attached: 1510840766938.jpg (582x582, 49K)

This is probably me but I haven't gone to a local or anything yet.

Attached: Tit Explanation.jpg (888x639, 167K)

I suck at it and no game has ever made me more angry at that fact. I thought I calmed down from gaming when I was younger. I'll be 30 next year and I actually just broke a controller over Smash. It's pathetic. Last time I broke something was when I ripped my shirt in half playing TF2 but I was only 20.
I blame everything but myself, then I cool down and feel like a retard, realizing all the things I did wrong to lose. Not reading my opponent right, basically going into button mashing mode because I'm angry. The game owes me a win with less effort because I'm on a losing streak. It's absolutely true what they say, when you're "tilted" you play far worse.

>narrow my concentration down to a single character or two
this is whats keeping me from getting super serious with smash
with a roster that big i get bored just playing the same tiny percent of the roster all day
I much prefer playing 25-30 characters than just 1 or 2
I also hate that most everybody does only main 1 or 2 because its so fucking obvious that they do especially if its a 'zoner' faggot to me it makes the game boring, thats why I only really rematch if it was a good match, 95% of the time I leave the lobby so I dont fight the exact same character

>I have dedede and rob in elite smash for like 2 months and i barely play
I dont believe you.
host, let me see your skill.

I mean is that uncommon for a character to stay in elite after not playing for a long time?

Give Wrassle Cat tips

Attached: Gay Luigi.jpg (4032x3024, 1.6M)

I have over 1000hrs into the game and rosterfagging really gives me this unsettling feeling of boredom. seeing other people guesses or wanted lists makes me sick.

Attached: 1576187528.jpg (500x510, 42K)

actually, once a character makes it into elite, it never drops out until you lose your way out

>hit the opponent 700 times in a row
>25% damage done
>hits me once
>30% damage done

Why do I still choose to suffer with this retard bird?

Attached: Falco_Lombardi_%28character%29.png (316x315, 73K)

I feel like I could play professionally but I don't have the time, money or even independence to do it. I'm too lazy to attend locals after going to school and my job often. I've won a tournament for smash 4 and also won a tournament for dbfz. They were just random tournaments so the competition wasn't that steep. I have 8 characters in elite smash, if that means much. I mostly play in 1 vs 1 lobbies, where I try to find good competition.

Joker isn't really OP, just fucking annoying. He's Sheik with a Ganondorf dildo in his ass.

>They think being in Elite means they're good
Hate it to break it to you Yea Forums but Elite isn't a good benchmark for anything other than "I'm better than most casuals", I've seen people make elite smash and then go 0-2 at my events.

I play as Kirby but I consider myself decent
FUCKING THIS

I'm not really good at Smash but I don't really enjoy it that much. I enjoyed Melee because everything was so fast and even just spazzing out on the spot was fun. A regular match of Melee with no items but on a dumb stage like Great Bay is more fun to me than a match with items on, just because of all the dumb ricocheting and Tingle and nonsense.

Getting into elite smash means you never rematch people you lose against. That's all it is. It's not a measure of skill one bit, just keep doing that and you'll get matched against other people doing the same method, and therefore you're fighting people that are way over-ranked just like you are.
Ideally it would be based on skill, but it's not. That's why I say fuck quickplay and do arenas.

Playing G&W, Sonic or Doc in ultimate is like pulling teeth

Why is Doc so fucking bad

Attached: 1510370918537.jpg (960x540, 195K)

I don't have a good enough Internet connection to know if I am good at it.

I consider myself decent
In terms of roster I'm fine since I got everything I asked for and then some

If I didn't have an explosive temper I'd probably do a lot better than I am. Destroyed my TV a few months back set me back on online smash quite a bit and I only recently started getting back into it.

Why do I play with G&W instead of some heavy god damnit.

>Destroyed my TV a few months back
You need to calm down, user

i don't play smash competitively, but i'm pretty good at it

>Tfw mained K. Rool
>He's so unviable that I've had to bring my secondary Daisy to tournaments I relatively barely know to deal with roughly 60%+ of the matchups
>All the people I've been matched up with for the last 3 weeks I've gone are people who have previously placed in tournaments and are in a different league to me
>But I keep crushing practice rounds against randoms
>But now I'm maining Banjo, and I'm already doing pretty good at his basics and against my friends
I'm fucking ready for this wednesday, I'm gonna get a win I can feel it

I only play Robin, who thought making that character was a good idea.

I only play with my friends or practice at home with lv9 cpu and amiibos. Between all my friends we can all give each other a good run for our money but competitively speaking we’re probably trash. Honestly it’s more fun that way. Our locals and competitive seen sucks and smash’s online is garbage so meeting up with the boys, having some beers and a blunt gets me more enjoyment out of the game than roster fagging autism and try hards.

no tourneys in my area unfortunately so I can't really tell, but I have about half the roster in elite

I liked him in 4 when the tomes actually had good knockback

Thank you user.

gggg

I main Ganon since Sm4sh and can beat all my friends, but that doesn't really mean shit and I'm well aware, so no, I'm not good. But I will never rosterfag.
The only moderately high-tier character I ever picked up was Wolf, and that's just cause I love that faggot and was happy to see him back from Brawl.

I'm better than my brothers but only by a little bit.
I don't rosterfag I just want doomguy and post about wanting him every once in a while.

Attached: count the medals.jpg (640x640, 91K)

Yes, I believe so. I tend to enjoy playing joke and “low-tier” characters that require getting up-close-and-personal. Nothing like seeing a cloud player rage at losing to G&W

I’m okay, but wouldn’t call myself competitive material. Only went to one local tournament, and got through the first round, only to lose 2-0 to one guy’s Mewtwo. It was clear during the match that there’s a huge gap between how I play and how him and a few others there did.

I main Roy, and I fuck 99,99% of my oponents in the ass.

Attached: 12333.jpg (713x679, 46K)

epic fire marth XD

I went to a couple of locals and have been able to hold my own but I'm not going out and destroying proplay tourneys so...eh?

1. You're not sheik
2. You actually have kill power but you gotta earn it unlike Wolf Players.

Make a lobby

> Bragging about playing swordsman #549302890
Easy strings and out ranges a lot of other characters, so hard.

I DON'T rosterfag because I know I'm not.
I don't even have a main. The closest thing to one I have is fuckin' Kirby, and that's just because I like Kirby.

Attached: 1513138263322.jpg (637x476, 78K)

I try to play skillfully while also still making sure to have fun and go for stupid shit. After decades of playing this way, I’ve gotten really good intuition and one of my biggest strengths is my general lack of using specific chart flows and combos, and naturally being able to play almost all characters.

That said, I am more likely to lose to someone who takes comp seriously, sticks to 2-3 characters for specific matchups, and has researched and memorized exactly what setups and combos to do at different %s. I can give them a difficult fight, but it’s an uphill battle for me.

>Game and Watch
>bad to play in Ultimate
You what

With things like sweetspot Dsmash, the start up on Up Special, Down Special being a reflector now as well and so on, how are you having trouble with him?

IMO he's one of the most satisfying characters in the game to play.

He still too light and his f-air is still trash

He's 2D and hits hard as hell. I'm sure he's fine but I do miss his old fair.

I won a few small scale tournaments early in Smash 4's lifecycle and had a more or less unbeaten record with people online but I've had absolutely no desire to play Ultimate since it came out
which is ironic since it's definitely the better game, I've just grown tired of Smash entirely

Attached: 1567008995753.jpg (646x500, 65K)

>I've beaten tourneyfags in my local

So, you, yourself, are a tourneyfag? I can tell you are good, by all your achievements.

Use nair instead. It’s not as crazy as his fair from 4, but it is a lot stronger than it was then. In the end I like the Fair change, just because it’s a unique and interesting move

This is the only way Smash is fun. Challenging. Your friends being as good as you.

I can say you are good by this amount of characters you put in Elite.

I like to think I'm above-average but
>internet is real hit or miss, bad some days and just fine others
>locals are far away
So I dunno for sure. It's real easy for my internet to just go to shit and fuck up my inputs and timing for a day or two and when I get back to *actually* playing Smash I feel a bit worse at it.

Attached: mario crying stairs.jpg (640x430, 41K)

Im bad
Im sub 400k gsp with Metaknight but almost elite with Hero and Sans Undertale
Exciting dlc is the only reason I come back to this game
I dont like WoL

So you bought an hacked Switch with lots of games in. Smash single-player is all you gonna play, since Nintendo bans unblocked Switches. haha. I play Smash online, and you, don't. haha.

World of Light is such a monotonous slog. The most interesting part was when you got to play as you know who and you can’t even replay that at will. Event modes were great in 4, and they found a way to make them as bland as possible in Ult

I'm probably above average. I could definitely beat a casual, but I'll get my shit kicked in by anyone who knows advanced techniques

I went to one local and went 3-2 playing Wolf and Incineroar.

Game's fun, but Quickplay/Elite Smash is unironically the worst online Smash has ever had relative to it's time. I'd much rather play Melee netplay

Elite Smash is such a bad ranking system. The fact that you're rewarded for quitting after one game instead of playing a full set, you're not allowed to pick another character without quitting, you cant check your opponents connection and whether or not they're ethernet, the 15 frame MINIMUM delay, only being able to play Battlefield/FD and if you want to play other maps that are fun for competitive you risk getting garbage shit like Pac Land or Mushroomy Kingdom, and the fact that you have the possibility of running into items and shitty stages in a RANKED MODE

Goddamit Sakurai why is it so hard to make a functioning online

>Be honest, Yea Forums. Are you actually good at Smash?
No.
>Or do you rosterfag because you know you're not?
I do it because it's fun, but Ultimate has been based enough where I'm fine with just about any addition now.

>Good at Smash
Play a real fighting game and not something with random criticals, random hitboxes, and unforgivable input lag. To say nothing of the tech and depth Smash is missing that its fans are in denial of. And if you play this game's laggy ass online when it already has input delay problems and you still take it seriously, monitoring your GSP like a wifi warrior, then God help you because you've reached lolcow status.

Thought I was in this boat until I joined a tournament at my college. Ended up winning with a single joycon. Fuck some people were really good too, and I almost lost my first game to a goddamn Lucina.

When SFV had shitty input delay and inexcusably awful online nearly everyone abandoned it and it became a laughingstock. Fucking Street Fighter is no longer the flagship fighting game series due to how awful SFV is.

When Ult has the same issues, you're called out for being "salty" or "johning" for having genuine criticisms of the game.

"Good at Smash" just means picking the best most top-tier character (usually some extremely fast evasive long-reach anime character) and spamming his best moves until your opponent gets bored & tries to move in, where you punish him with your silly unbalanced instant attacks. At least in an actual fighting game you have to learn inputs.

Attached: 1537346075145.jpg (700x525, 23K)

It’s because Leffens a fag that everyone in the community likes for no reason.

Smash fans are notorious dicksuckers

I'm pretty good at picking up a new character and quickly getting to around 4-4.5m GSP level with them, but I'd get absolutely clobbered by any pro and have never gone to a tourney. Have made it to Elite Smash with my main

>random hitboxes

I'm pretty highly above average, good enough to place at a local tourney if I cared enough/ practiced more consistently.
I win most of my online matches but still get dunked on at times by players that are at my skill level or even worse, but because they straight up just play better characters they can afford to make more mistakes and still knock me down.
I feel like I'm playing with training weights with my main being Da Cunt but he's one of the few I have fun with and I'm good enough to make him work even against Jokers and the like.

Attached: 4b4f172877afb25831201ea9fc89bcdfa9cf392f_hq.jpg (900x807, 55K)

Almost everyone thinks the input buffering and longer delay is bs user, but the game is enjoyable even with it. Stop being autistic and stop generalizing

>only ever get to play when my friend is in town
>kick his ass with banjo consistently the day after he came out without playing him at all beforehand
>when we used to go 60-40 in his favor
>he just got pissed and stopped playing after a couple hours when he could only beat me with his wolf twice complaining about dlc powercreep
>after i had to put up with him maining cloud for all of smash 4 and now hero
who else /cant practice/ here
its a shitty feeling desu

Attached: 1463817972171.gif (250x188, 1.85M)

Similar situation here. I’m good and competent, I just (A) don’t care enough to straight-up memorize chartflows and percentages, (B) can’t tolerate the autistic playstyle of many comp players (C) enjoy the weird, relatively “weak” characters, (D) I bathe

I don't rosterfag AND i'm not good.

>after i had to put up with him maining cloud for all of smash 4 and now hero
Kek I hope you pointed out his hypocrisy.

>mario
>ground oriented
doctor mario, maybe

Attached: fet.png (128x123, 28K)

i almost did but it wouldnt have changed anything
he acts like a fucking boomer when it comes to that kinda stuff

>filter and move on
>ignore and move on
Instead you join and bump the thread

i only play erdrick to make tryhards seeth with rng kills

I guess just be glad he didn’t use Bayo in 4

I'm so fucking bad. I cannot beat any randoms online without serious luck. I have so many bad habits from from fighting NPCs and all those friends I only beat because I had better knowledge of the game. I cannot combo, cannot predict recoveries to edgeguard, cannot think about whether I'm throwing out a tilt or smash attack, cannot consistently throw out the attack I want if I actually do think about it, cannot remember to spot dodge instead of roll, cannot teach myself to stop rolling in, cannot teach myself to stop jumping in to smash attacks, and cannot keep my eyes on the opponent instead of myself.

Pretty sad considering I actually like that competitive aspect of Smash Bros just as much as the casual stuff but my execution is just impossibly bad. Also as an aside I have no idea why a game as accessible as Smash does not give me the option to tie smash attacks and tilts attacks to separate buttons
>c-stick
C-Stick isn't the same as the A button when using tilts, it needs to be reset to a neutral position before you can do another. Additionally, that still leaves smashes AND tilts tied to the A button, rather than just smashes and jab.

I tried Lucina the other night since I was told she's a good character to learn fundamentals with, and I got embarrassingly beaten by a Zelda spamming special moves. How the fuck my spacing was so bad that I kept getting caught by neutral B despite having a disjointed hitbox on all my attacks I'll never know. I still want to try but holy fuck I've got a hill to climb.

Attached: 1463454925655.gif (320x213, 1.28M)

I don't even play Ultimate (I play melee) but I feel your pain on not having someone to consistently practice with. my friendo plays with me some times but they don't have my level of interest in it so they play pretty brainlessly and I don't really learn all that much from it. it suuuucks

I rosterfag and make up leaks Despite the fact I don't even own Smash, or the Switch

Attached: devilish.jpg (500x567, 53K)

>wanting a better game is being autistic

>controls
It’s completely asinine that you can’t disable Smashes on A. Keeping them exclusively on the C-Stick is the ideal setup. I use Tilt stick because it’s the best option at the moment, but still.
>Zelda
Extremely easy for people to be effective with on online wifi

I main dr mario autistically but I think I'm okay, I usually beat my friends at least

Attached: 1565901723047.png (1200x1025, 2.09M)

I use the options to make sure that doesn't happen. If you're new you should check the rules on how to manage that.

Attached: tsuchi dance.gif (160x90, 42K)

I feel like Smash in general doesn't reward the same things I enjoy in fighting games to make me want to.
It's reliant on having good kill moves that have better frame data, so a "good" character is one that touches you 3-4 times, get's you to 80 and starts spamming for a fast kill.
I can clearly outskill them by playing better than them despite my character's flaws, but if they manage to get half as many hits they can take a stock without any effort.
But it's fun as a party game so I don't worry about it too much.

Attached: d8az4di-92eef3cd-b566-4950-8473-561f6b1c3e6e.png (945x1260, 956K)

Same. This has become fairly egregious recently with everyone relying on joker’s aerial strings, combined with his ultra-easy gimmes once Arsene shows up. Beating them with G&W is satisfying, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t tedious and an uphill ball trying to dodge everything

>I don't know if that's considered good but I'm sure as hell satisfied with my placement. So much that I havent touched the game since.

Attached: 1544611660953.png (640x400, 266K)

I'm at 5,165mil GSP on my main. I'm only just starting to be able to beat other people that know how the game generally works on their main. I'm the type of person who makes their own WoW expansions entirely in their head and even the current state of rosterfagging disgusts me. I try posting lobbies in rosterfag threads but nobody ever joins.

Ive casually played smash since the N64 game, never very regularly. I know its not a fighting game per se but Ive never been very interested in taking the time to get good at fighting games, they just dont interest me.

That being said I can hold my own with Kirby, and only Kirby (and sorta meta knight in the newest one). Not in any competitive sense, but like if Im in a room with normies and they start smashing I can usually win with Kirbs.

Again, I just have like zero patience to learn any other character other than the one I learned when I was a kid playing the original game. Meta knight controls similarly so I can adapt to him, but I could never really get into playing the other characters.

I'm pretty terrible but I like playing it.

I'm shit. Is there a way to change tap-to-dash? It seems way too sensitive.

>single joycon
I unironically like to play like this. How it's still very comfortable and intuitive to use baffles me.

>some smurf stomps me hard
>rematch him like 5 times until I manage to take one stock
>he instantly disconnects

Attached: 1562947899412.jpg (640x786, 96K)

thanks doc
based mains, my man

>pit
just give him a landing option that isnt literally "wait for the opponent to fuck up so i can dair"
i honestly dont know how else he can be improved outside of a few frame data buffs here and there

the way I play him is ground oriented

>playing a Team Battle arena using Banjo
>Host teabags midmatch after getting any kill
>loses anytime I'm not on his team
>starts kicking everyone and 1v1s me every time
>he keeps losing and switches to Ness
>still loses and keeps kicking people who wait
>beat him one more time then leave
I think some people really need that "win"

Attached: Seriously.jpg (570x433, 19K)

For some reason I am only really good at Kirby, I just feel him and feel very comfortable with my movement options and know exactly what every attack does and my best options and stuff. I wish I was this way with a character that wasn't near the absolute bottom of the tier list.

>Bowser
>give him the old sprint and bair animation back

that why the top players always look so emotionless on stream, they're trying to stay focused. even ESAM does better when he doesn't goof around like a fucking retard.

I got these two in Elite about a month ago, and it’s been an endless cycle of getting in and getting kicked back out since then.

I manage to not drown in pools, but usually get my shit kicked in right after. I'm one or two players away from dominating my locals. My biggest shortcoming is that I get comfortable when I'm in a winning position and often choke because of it.
Main is Inkling because Top tier and I love splatoon. I also have a pocket mii swordfighter and I also like to play with Villager and Mii gunner. I'll often pick Incineroar and Ganon in casual games and I'm currently trying out Palutena mostly to understand what she can do because I struggle in this matchup.

Attached: tenor.gif (274x318, 1.49M)

this entire competetive points thing is ruining games, i tell you.
I'm always happy, whenever I notice Ii'm getting better.

Ganondorf
Get rip of either Warlock punch or volcano kick and replace it with an actually useful move. Ideas projectile you can hold to charge for more strength and if you hold it long enough it's just warlock punch or just his cape reflect from Ocarina of Time)

No. In the options there is a sensitivity setting but it only changes the window of frames to register a Smash attack vs a tilt

Can someone help me not suck at this game? Whenever it's 4-player and zoomed out I can't keep up with what the fucks going on and I panic and lose.

Attached: 1564800502092.png (542x508, 97K)

>Kirby

Make inhale much better. Make it start quicker, make it have a wider vertical range so Kirby doesn't get smacked on the top of his head, revise all the things that go through his inhale (and this is after the start up) for no reason like a lot of dash attacks. Also, pick one:

>people can mash out of kirby's mouth with the exact same rules as a grab, higher percentage = harder to mash out
>mashing stuns Kirby in place for a moment

Not fucking both, it's not fair.

Only play 1v1’s

More than anything else, the lack of movement in fighting games is what kills my interest in them.

I fucking hate ranking systems actually. People should just play for the fun of the game.

This. Also, I typically quit as soon as a host kicks people in order to rematch faster. Don’t give your lobby extra slots unless you’re a man enough to take a loss; now you have to sit alone in your lobby.

Are 1v1 tournaments a better way to get experience? I'm a little unfamiliar with how they work. Can anyone set them up or are the rules completely arbitrary?

I feel you. Picked up Dr.Mario in casuals and I am impressed by his power input on stage, but his godawful off-stage capability really hurts him.

I'm ok in Smash, I don't know that many combos but I'm cautious about which moves I use. I mainly play with items on, I like the chaos.

It's actually normal. Try picking up a zoning character and go to the side. Easier than being one of the brawler in the middle.

Absolutely. GSP is shit to begin with because a high number rarely means anything, but it completely fucks up people’s motivations when playing. Just keep it permanently hidden.

Yeah, I learned that firsthand. I was going to keep it lowered, anyway, but then I realized I could switch the right stick to tilts, and just smash the old-fashioned way.

I don't play online or attend tournaments so I have no reference point.

Not really. Arenas are your best bet still. Tourneys have set rules for a day or two, and if it’s not full it fills any extra slots with a CPU. Also, you’re more likely to get someone with a poor connection to you.

Play in arena instead of quickplay. Oh, and open your own arena if you don't want to get kicked out repeatedly, most of the time for no reason.

I have an arena up in the thread right now and nobody joined lol

>win too much
>get kicked
>Host loses too much
>get kicked
>he sees your character
>get kicked

Attached: Confused Hero.png (1051x694, 646K)

I'd like to, but I am currently at my job and will be for the next 6 hours lol

Does anyone have trouble doing down smashes with the pro controller? Or is my controller messed up? I almost always end up doing a down tilt instead, very frustrating in the middle of a match. I bought a brand new pro controller but everything feels delayed and my character stops and skids before running in the other direction, and this is weird but I can't tell if I need to 'break the controller in' like a shoe or if the new pad is fucked.

Lil Mac, gib horizontal movement to fucking up B and less end lag on down B when it actually counters something.

Attached: Lil Mac Smash.png (500x376, 400K)

Do you use Joy con? Because the action on those sticks is quicker in general and it’s possibke to get more finesse on a Pro Controller. Either way it’s all a matter of muscle memory

I'm...halfway decent? Definitely not tourney tier, but still.
And I rosterfag to get some variety into the game rather than to boost my ego.

I'm East Coast and I'm afraid the lag might be fucked

If you lag just suicide and leave, I do it all the time joining other people's lobbies. The arena just shut down by itself though. I still have never gotten a single person on Yea Forums to play with me

>Snake
Reduce uptilt hitbox and kill power.
Make him less heavy.
Buff nikita at the start of the move but lose knockback the longer the missile stays in the air.
Increase getup attack range.
Increase Dsmash range.

>Kicks another player so he doesn't have to wait
Fuck you if you do this.

Attached: 1567809401767.jpg (190x190, 9K)

I'm not "good" at smash but I'm decent, though I abhor guaranteed combo-ing and playing overly defensive, so I gravitated to maining Captain Falcon. I get mad a lot because as fun as this game can be, it's stupidly broken.

Fuckhead, you think that making an arena randomly is going to bring anyone in? Most people are doing shit at this time, and this isn’t even a thread for people actively looking to play at the moment.

Start it up again and I'll play

>bowser
Gonna be honest, there's not much that can be done without fully changing who he is.
He's pretty balanced - amazing advantage phase and good neutral but poor disadvantage state. Maybe he could do with a better landing option to intercept combos?

I suck at smash, but still enjoy it, the bad thing is that my friends suck a bit harder at smash than me. so I still win most of the time. I rearely play it online cause I prefer playing other fighting games online instead.

I've mained ROB since Smash 4 and I'm bad enough that I just teeter on the threshold of elite smash.

Mostly due to fucking nigger projectile spammers and Pikachu/Pichu faggots

Nah i dont like Smash. Im good at actual fighting games like SFV Some guy the other day said Smash fags are the new bronies.

THATS SO FUCKING TRUE.

Now post the last panel
Nyes

No. He wears his outfit 100% of the time

I do. Partially because I really want the Xenoblade version. I'll probably get a pro soonish, but I'm also curious how the SNES controller will play.

I'm at 4 million gsp right now, is that below average? I feel I'd do better without the lag.

You can’t use the snes controller with smash, in case that’s what you were thinking

Being good at a video games holds no value

I’d say it’s above average, but the GSP system in general is a shit measure of ability. I come across just as many good/bad players in Elite as in low ranks

This is true, I've been as low as 3 million and found 1 million~ dudes that still kicked my ass.

>Match start
>Pretty even game

I've heard the nes controller technically works. That it can connect, but it just doesn't have the necessary buttons. I've assumed that even if Nintendo says it doesn't work, it might still manage.
It's not like I only want one for Smash, and I'd probably get both, anyway.

>guys in area always make T/A Off lobbies

>Get kicked out

WTF? I thought glorious arena were where all the good players at. Now I'm confused.

Smash requires an analog stick for the movement functions

>Full of tryhard noobs that are not even good at the game
These are always satisfying to beat, especially with a “weak” character (I don’t believe tier lists are right). Watching them try their hardest to execute their 2-3 chartflows as I wing it and they lose their cool

Veteran players are the modest ones

Most of the time the actual skilled players are in Veterans. Glorious tends to draw the tryhards who think they’re good and take the game too seriously. A good piece of evidence is that the Glorious team lobbies typically don’t even have team damage on.

Hitboxes aren't literally random but in the scope of the game they might as well be because you'll never keep track of every character that's got moves with retarded hitboxes. Disjoints, hitboxes that extend past the character model, hitboxes that hit behind, they're all over the place

>no lobbies anywhere

Read the thread, user. Some Inkling is kicking my ass.

It actually makes sense.

Now that you mention it I almost never find a room with team attack on and when I make one, most people quit after the first match because they don't want to play with team attack on. A shame too, it's a lot more fun and invalidate a lot of the retarded strategies you see when team attacks are off.

...

Just make your own game. People that don't give a shit about losing/winning and just want to play will gladly join you

btw, made a lobby too, seeing as to how the other lobby is full.

Painfully relatable

Recenly, a big ass antena for whomstever was built a mere 100m from my place, and now ever since I get consistent lag spikes to ruin any online plau requiring fast action
I cant even play online since nintendo cuts me at the second spike and throws me at an hour cooldown for ragequitting randos

Making your own match is the only way to do it
>can limit player slots to 3-4 or even 2 so you arent waiting half an hour if you lose
>can turn on all the right legal stages in random selection so you get variety without having to lose your place in line
>dont get kicked for arbitrary bullshit

Attached: 309.png (600x400, 124K)

anyone care to join?

I'm power ranked in Florida and got 37th at a tournament with ~400 entrants, does that count?

Attached: 1431907723923.gif (250x188, 444K)

Glorious is where you go to deal with the tedium of Joker and Inkling flowcharts. Veterans is where a Pac Man completely dunks on you.

I’d love to join but have other shit to do atm

The downside is the initial waiting, and the fact that you often have to filter through a couple of shitty players before getting to the good ones.
It's usually worth it tho just for not getting kicked out for no reasons.

Duck Hunt it kinda fucked simply because of bad frame data and he is easily gimped.
If you play him to his max potential using clay pigeon set ups, can combos, gunman shield bait into grabs, you can actually rack up serious damage in no time, but that means fuck all if his uair is his only killing move at like above 100%.
You can cleverly mix up all day long but unless you give my boys some proper killing moves they can't do anything to compete with anyone else.
And their smashes are so slow you have to be stupid to get hit, the popularity of mii gunner has made me realize they get a faster, longer range fsmash with frame advantage yet are also more agile and have better air game and spam-able specials.
Don't even get me started if a character has reflect. The uphill battle become a mountain climb at that point, because they will just spam reflect every chance they get so now the only safe approaches you have are moot.

>that bomb kill

Just good Melee now, used to be REALLY REALLY good at 64, like top level for the time, but that community started playing really gay like Brawl players. So I quit because it ceased to be fun. I understand playing to win, but there's like..no money in 64 so why are you playing like such a fag? I wasn't the only one that quit either, amazes me it had a regrowth around 2013 or so though, good for them I suppose.

Attached: big gay.png (478x478, 246K)

Anyone who makes a 1v1 lobby with 5-8 players is an idiot and will certainly kick players as soon as he loses

Rage doesn’t change damage.

Thought I was doing alright too

a lot of people hate my ness for some reason, despite me going out of my way to not spam pk fire. am i just too good?

guys, it's isai

How do you find locals? I bet there aren’t any in Alabama where I live because I’ve literally never met a single person who has heard of Smash even

I beat him in friendlies before online, but we really don't count those. The community is a lot better since 2010

pk fire is what shitters complain about
pros know that ness's aerials are really what's annoying as shit about him

Duck hunt would be so much better if they made his recovery controllable with tapping and gave the bird wings a nominal hitbox with flinch.

I'm good enough to get into elite with two characters and go 2-2 in locals, so shit by Yea Forums standards.

see thats what i thought, i always made liberal use of his aerials because they're so damn good.

I try to practice and take seriously technique and combos, yet I'm only so good to beat casual players and anytime I face someone slightly competitive my win chance is low. I'm like mid tier at best but unless I can get good labbing and practice with real people, I'll stay low tier.

His aerials may be the best, but his smash attacks are where the fun is

damn, i just realized how slow i am as ness when i'm just waking up and my hands are cold.

For sure, your really a sitting duck if your off the ledge at all, the only thing you have is using a gunman to block charged projectiles like Samus'.

what the fuck is this inkling

what the fuck is this inkling and their roller

Because ypu don't play 3333 as sans.

Zone with grenades and missiles and ledgeguard from center stage with grenades. Up throw up air. Spam back air and dash attack for kills. Catch landings with fsmash. Use psy magnet as the fast out of shield option.

Bam you not garbage anymore.

That's all for me, GGs Hopeless lobby! Yea Forums is better than I expected at Smash.
My real signature move is down throw into nair combos...

>The average smash fag
OH NONONON NONONONO NO

Damn, I was hoping to keep a streak as long as that inkling did.

Literally me.

Brawl was the last time I had fun with smash. I played smash 4 exactly 5 times before I put it on the shelf forever along with the Wii U. I got ult Mate since it sounded like it was going to be fun too. And it was for a while.

Something happened to me; it was like the opposite of something "clicking", my competitive spirit and desire to play defecto win/lose games against people was completely gone. Not sure why.

I probably just got old. With that loss of drive to play smash came the degradation of my skills and that further fed into my lack of desire to play.

I don't rosterfag. If anything, I'm upset a game series I loved is the new breeding ground for the worst kind of shit posting: the kind that doesn't get removed off the board. I'm super glad that Terry is in though. Maybe someday we'll get Mike Hagar

Side b is godly online. Dash attack and d throw to any aerial is good too. Neutral b catches spotdidges so you can use that as mixup. F tilt and d tilt are great killing and spacing tools respectively. Never use down air.

>I probably just got old.
Bullshit user. That particular justification is never anything but an excuse.

I pretty much play only online so my skill level is only so high, that being said, I hover just outside of elite with all characters I play.

Thanks

manchild detected. you gona keep buying figs into your 30's? into your 40's?

LIsten, man. When you're over 30, things just kind of change rapidly. You'll lose a lot of your drive for a lot of things you once did daily.

Because those things were never important. If user actually thought playing Smash was worth his time, he'd be doing it and not whinging about his old bones. It's fine to admit something doesn't interest you any longer, but saying it's because of some arbitrary perception of age is just avoiding the actual reason.

GGs, lobby! I’d be playing better if my hands weren’t freezing cold.

Cya dudes, was fun as hell but I'm like two hours late on taking the dogs out. Yea Forums's officially good at vidya.

Any lobbies open?

>this is the quiet kid who gets destroyed in tournaments and leaves quickly after

I'm decent at it, I have a few characters in Elite Smash if that's anything to go by.

I've been having a blast playing sans.

I will say this though, I hate playing against Inkling, the mushroom princesses, and cocky FEs. If you play any of these characters, you will have a bad time next time we meet online.

Attached: EDqIFFFW4AEPuWJ.jpg (1309x1080, 75K)

Gotta make one, bro

Isn't that the wrong sword lmao

I'm nice AF, but I still have stuff to learn.

Attached: Link_breath_of_the_wild_render_by_jrrenders-dad872p.png (721x1109, 560K)

I'm well above average, managed to take many locals and getting into PR's back in college. You can find decent players on quickplay but most people get away with shit they shouldn't because of lag. Stop worrying about your Elite status, it doesn't mean shit when you can get any character there by winning just a few matches.

>Too good for casual players
>Not good enough for people who actually have mains
I'm decent with 90% of the roster, but I never sit down and learn combos. I feel like I have potential to be a lot better than I already am.

Attached: 1567468274995.png (476x469, 96K)

Tons of people are in this barrier and I think it can only be surpassed by playing a shitload against people on their mains. Go to /vg/ and join lobbies, only half your quickplay games will be against competent people while you can fight one over and over again in lobbies.

Be honest, faggot. Did you actually need to post all those fucking smash threads? Or do you not like reflecting on your actions because that would cause your fragile ego to shatter?

I know I'm not great I'm pretty sure I'm only carried because I play heavy characters

I like to think I'm decent. I'm able to carry myself through pools at tourneys and always fair decently at MSM

Attached: 1559506474051.jpg (724x1024, 122K)

>Get tired of Quickplay
>take on Battle Arena's for now
>Every Battle Arena is filled with people who are obvious friends and will jump me for the sake of it
>extremely laggy and matches will likely end with No Contest

I might try that. Thanks for the advice.

I play every day at lunch locally with friends: all items, stage morph, all stages (set to random), random character (or everyone chooses the same character for giggles) - every 4-8 man match, it's the same three people standing at the end, myself included. I'm not the best, but I'm joint second of my crew, with said second being the only one that religiously plays online and has several characters in elite.

I know all the characters pretty well due to hundreds of hours playing while choosing random, but I don't keep up with the tiers or any of that shit. Favorites are probably Ridley, Incineroar and Ganondorf, with Captain Falcon for 1v1 SRS NO ITEMS mirror matches. Probably best with Villager, Corrin, Samus. Telefragging with Zelda also never gets old.

I was like this until college where I met a girl who kicked my ass at smash CONSTANTLY.

>finally decided to drop kirby after nearly 2 decades of him being shit and devs not caring
>pick up corrin and sheik for a month
>get drastically better results and have fun

Attached: 1530507309089.jpg (423x613, 50K)

decent online and when it comes to friends. I'd like to get better of course and I LOVE playing competitively but I don't like the GSP system much. should have simply kept For Glory.

Run-of-the-mill Fire Emblem swordie main is a weeb cocky ass hell that he plays a character that requires 3 iq to be efficient with, more news at 11

I'm by far the best person in my group of friends.

I'm sure I'd get pooped on if I ever entered a tournament but I'm working up the courage to give it a go.

I don't think I'm anything too special. I feel as if majority of the time guys just give me the win for being a girl and that saps the fun out of it.

Attached: IMG_20190430_081429.jpg (1290x2048, 150K)

I instantly kick anyone from my arenas if they have the following avatars:
>Xenoblade 2 waifu
>Post-Awakening Fire Emblem waifu
>Geno
>James McCloud
>Ashley
>Waluigi
>Anyone with a shitty fucking joke name like HOES MAD or DONG w/ DK avatar
>Palutena, Zelda, or Joker avatar

You must understand that I'm simply limiting my exposure to all the faggotry that plagues this online. Please understand that it's nothing personal against you, there's plenty of like minded people for you to roll in the mud with. Please leave me alone

Attached: 031615ce091947af38ad3ec5dca37fbb.png (573x404, 492K)

You can personally thank the Melee audience for ruining outsiders perception of Smash Bro's as nothing more then a baby game smelly fat people take too seriously

You can't call Smash a fighting game or people will assume you some smelee player

I play decent, but nowhere near pro level. I don't even know the meta. I just play whatever character feels more comfortable to play, mostly Link and Isabelle.

For me it's -
>Excessive targeting
>Trying to be a "friendly"
>Running away constantly
>Excessive Camping
>Opting to stay out of the fight
>Teaming
I don't mind if someone is rolling everyone or if they're absolute garbage at the game. What I do mind is if they're hindering the enjoyment for everyone else.

Attached: 1540703495017.png (229x252, 26K)

I play smash for fun. That being said, my tourney friends tell me I'm good. One of them even told me I'm the reason he got into competitive smash. I'm just going to believe him and stroke my ego.

When going to an anime convention last year I incidentally beat one of the top 5 players in my country at Smash 4. I didn't finish the tourney because I was too busy doing karaoke but afterwards a guy approached me asking where I was and told me about the guy I beat in pool. He was fucking seething apparently. That's my last tourney result. Otherwise so far in Ultimate I played in a group full of the so-called best players of the French side of the country and got to semi-finals, playing random and not even having the game. The guy I beat at Smash 4 was here too, and nobody believed me when I said I already beat that guy. The guy pretended to not know me so everyone ignored it.

>Geno

Who hurt you?

what is wrong with "the cooler fox"?

>James McCloud
I know how you feel... it still hurts, but we have to avenge him.

that's hot.

I'm better than most people I have played in person, that includes people who play games as often as I do. I find playing online more frustrating than enjoyable, as I've found the characters that get played the most are the ones that aren't fun to fight against, Ness, Hero, Young Link and Ganon come to mind. People are more interested in spamming/gimmicking a win than and enjoyable game.

Even after the nerfs, Corrin is still my favorite swordie, followed by Shulk.

Canada?

what the hell did James do?

Just started playing this game. Is it just me or is there some sort of input lag when I play with a Pro Controller? Pic related is the one I use. My TV picture setting is set to Game which I hear usually fixes lag issues, so I don’t know what’s up.

Attached: 455A91CD-5B7D-40F7-9445-3FB71402E7B5.png (812x780, 775K)

Probably not user. The most I deal with is very rare issues with signal being interrupted by something stupid (which shouldn’t happen but I just adjust the position of the controller and am fine)

Are you playing with the controller wired via usb? For some reason the connection is actually a bit faster via wireless

>Fox or Greninja join my arena
>every single time they circle camp me while spaming nairs praying for confirms
this shit doesnt even work on me since I play a lardass with big fucking disjoints but It pisses me the hell off to have to chase these nimble fucks for 5 minutes with one of the slowest characters in the game, never kicked anyone from my arenas that wasn't Fox or Greninja and I have kicked every Fox and Greninja I have ever played

Attached: 1545510154694.png (640x640, 662K)

Yeah, I thought having it be wired would just charge like on PS4 and not send actual data. I’ll try it wireless when I get home.
No interference on my end

You can change in the options whether you want the cable to send data or not. Apparently it’d be faster if USB3 were enabled but as it is it’s still usb2 and data over wireless is marginally faster

Thanks for the info user

Still lost but jesus christ fucking fight me

>incineroar
give him slightly faster initial dash speed and better air speed. maybe a better jab too.

>Game and Watch
Honestly, just give the initial fair bomb a bit of stopping power. It currently just completely vaporizes

Why would I want to be good at smash? Then I'd have to sandbag casuals to get them to play with me.

Attached: 1566746173051.png (838x643, 1.07M)

I'd say I'm decent, but a part of me says I'm not as good as I was in 4. I think my lack of participation in online tourneys might have something to do with it and Having gone through control styles due to drift doesn't help either. I did make top 200 in division in the Nintendo Open, so maybe I just have fraud syndrome.
