Their plateaus are still different. It's like the difference between climbing a hill and a mountain.

The hill is easier to climb and reach the top.
The mountain is harder to reach the same height as hill would take you, but then when you do reach it you can keep going even higher.

Lucina is easy to win with against low level players, but she's not winning tournaments.

Imo it's more rewarding to climb a mountain and become skilled at a tougher to learn character with a higher plateau

Lucina is top tier, as in literally one of the top 5/top 10 characters in this entire game, what the fuck are you talking about? Even if Lucina isn't stealing EVO (even though multiple top players use her), she's literally everywhere on a regional level and it's not her then its Roy or Chrom or Ike, all of which are equally braindead.
Furthermore, even if someone is the best in the world at playing someone like DK or Ridely, they're never going to beat a decent Lucina player because Lucina is inherently far better than them.
Lucina is easy to use, easy to win with, and unlike other scrub stomper characters like Ganondorf or Samus, Lucina doesn't just cap off and stop being good since she's an actual top tier, same with the other FE swords excluding Robin and Corrin, only they're high tier instead of S.

Tourney mode doesn't filter based on skill level like QP does so you're dealing with a huge number of shitters and children. You know how GSP means you're above 5.60 whatever million people? The people who play in Tourney are the ones who make up those millions.

The day it came out I was able to win a tourney with all the characters I used, and even today in the 4 player item tourney I won like 6 or 7 just for fun and only ran into one actual good player that used Ken.

swordies in general need a lot more landing lag on their aerials

This, your only window to punish a swordie is in the endlag of a RISING aerial, if they do a landing aerial it's completely safe unless you can parry every single time. The work required to beat a swordie is far greater than the work required to mash safe disjointed aerials.

I just like playing as my favorite characters, regardless of whether or not they're "good".

I don't know exactly where he sits, but I've been enjoying him since day 1 when everyone was saying he's trash for some reason.
Agreed on the u-smash and u/b-throw changes. I'd also like his d-air to be a little better at killing from high up but it's not a big deal.

He's like one of the easiest characters in the game to play as. Any of the tech that's been discovered so far is piss easy to execute. You just need to put in a modicum of effort to use him, which speaks volumes of how badly OP sucks at this game.
