It's a sales tactic like any other. I can assure you 99.9% of people who purchased Kingdom Come: Deliverance would be deterred if not for the attempt at focusing heavily on super realistic medieval knighthood. Change the aesthetic to, say, kawaii catgirls, but have the exact same mechanics from top to bottom, and you will shift your audience dramatically. If your problem is singularly with sexy women in games, and not alternative aesthetic presences, you should probably readjust your priorities.
