Lots of people in this thread are saying Seth is stronger, but Edelgard can do a lot that Seth can't just because of 3H systems (flight, avoid stance dodge tanking, death blow, darting blow, consecutive galeforce, 1-3 range magic axe, etc.) The fairest way would be to look at who is the most centralizing in their respective games.

Well if we're bringing in minmaxing classes and abilities then I think you can get much more dramatic results from eugenics shenanigans with the kids in Awakening. Fates too, to a lesser extent. I don't know if centralizing is the best way to look at it, since I think most of the games have a lord and one or two other characters who are clearly head and shoulders above everyone else to the point where they form the backbone of your strategy.
