Seriously the pokemon games that sell by the millions dont make money?

Well, to say they "don't make money" is an exaggeration, but the merchandise has grossed 4 times as much as the games alone. Merch+card game and other bullshit is almost 5 times the revenue of games.
And that's revenue, not profit. Think about how much must be invested in such a complex and multi-faceted undertaking as a game. Now consider how much planning and care has to go into making a mass produced hunk of plastic, or a piece of cardboard with something printed on it... Yeah. The profit margins are out of this world.
