Echoes are fine but should have just been costumes really. Love the newcomer choices except Isabelle, Plant and Incineroar but they're fun to play so I'm cool with them. Joker is fucking lame.

On one hand I'm glad I got every character I wanted more or less (Ridley, K Rool, Banjo, Simon, and a Megaten rep although I'd have preferred Flynn, Demi-Fiend, or Jack Frost).

On the other, I feel sorry for kids today who basically got shit on for all my boomer desires. Kids basically just got Inkling, Incineroar, and maybe Isabelle if she's popular with kids and Sans if his costume counts.

I don't even know what kids would want for newcomers but I'd like to see the next few characters be ones that the 10-14 year olds actually want rather than more boomer characters.

Villager, Mega Man, Fit, Mac, Pac, Shulk, Bowser Jr, Duck Hunt, Ryu, and Cloud were fine
But in terms of newcomers it really does pail in comparsion to Smultimate, even it has more of them.

It's overall amazing but shit like Chrom and Plant really sour it.

A huge portion of the cast already has cross generation appeal, and zoomzooms are well acquainted even with boomer characters due to their legacy upheld by a lot of youtubers

Steve and Waluigi alone would pretty much fulfill them in terms of new additions

Incinerorar is kinda boring, Joker is just dumb, and Terry is a huge let down.

The rest are fine, and the Castlevania love is heartwarming after Konami left it to rot for so long.

Inkling is by far the best, very natural moveset with a neat mechanic that makes her feel like a brawl character being not too gimmicky and not too basic.
Ridley is a mess, giant light character with a bad recovery, down-b is useless, uninspired normals and his up-A is just fire fox for some reason, side-b is very risky, in general he just feels like a really held back character and most Ridley players look very clueless as if they don't want to just be doing nothing but nair and fair.
Simons dumb as hell, feels like his entire moveset is just trying out different lock combinations and not much else.
Krool got the shaft, somehow manages to be basic as hell and a flowcharty as fuck character.
Isabelles terrible but its nice to have a different variation for a character as wack as villager. Incineroar is cool but he's another one of those characters that feels like they tried too hard to balance out, Lariate should destroy stronger projectiles and Revenge a lot of the time feels more trouble than its worth.
DLC characters have been kinda meh, Joker is just another swordsman with a meter mechanic and Hero and Banjo are complete one hit wonder characters

Joker was the opening volley, the game came out only a year ago, and it aired in the very public Game Awards.
Hero and Banjo got E3.

Terry got the...traditional fall lead-in direct and had to compete with Banjo coming out the same day and Sans's Mii costume/Megalovania/story about Toby Fox playing Smash at Sakurai's house.
