If you have difficulty starting with old games (most people do, even if they don't admit it), you can use more recent titles and go back if you enjoy them:

* AC4A (For Answer): pinnacle of the series in terms of aesthetics (subjective - White Glint is my favorite mech ever). Hyper mecha combat, it's pretty fast (compared to others in the series) and looks cool. But balanced as well, in your campaign you have to sacrifice armor for speed, etc.
Play ACVD (Verdict Day) afterwards if you like this.

* Just play AC7. It's great, the soundtrack is wonderful, you probably won't even pay attention to the story and just have a great fucking time (even if some missions frustrate you a bit). It's on PC and new consoles, accessible as fuck (in terms of acquiring the game).

Amored Core: take a look at each gen and play the starting game, 1st-3rd gen play relatively similar with 4th and Vth gen being more different

No, it's not bad or anything (although most say it's not as good as the top titles in the series).
It's just that there's a lot of dialog during the missions (which I love, it's pretty good) but I set the language to japanese and couldn't follow the subtitles/who was talking all the time.
I loved the game so much that afterwards I went to youtube and watched a lot of summaries, plot analysis, etc.

AC1 was the best apart from the terrible modern day sections, some people say Desmond was boring but I liked it

Start with Heavy Gear 1 if you want vidya.
HG1 is a good MechWarrior 2 Clone. But its a bit mediocre compared to MW2 and Heavy Gear 2.
Heavy Gear 2 is the real shit but will kick your ass. Combat can be brutal. Also a pain in the ass to setup but I have a MediaFire link which works on Windows 10.
There's also Heavy Gear Blitz which is the current /tg/ game. The models are a 6/10 but the game itself is pretty fun.
If you want lore there's some stuff in the Living Rulebook (Which is free) and Life on Terra Nova book.
Check out the SilCore if you want the true nature of Heavy Gear, the RPG.
Don't watch the CG show unless you're high.

Depends on what they mean by that. If they mean that the game places more emphasis on strategy, positioning, and logistics than your traditional game (think Foxhole with mechs) then that could be cool.

my only real gripe is the fact that the text box from when characters talk is not only to the side but it's so small I actually have to read while so much is going on
this is only really a problem for me because I prefer the Jap dub because I hate the English voices but then I have to distract myself from the mission just in case the characters say something crucial I have to look out for
if the text box was in the center at the bottom it would be significantly less bothersome

Honestly it's astounding how far they have gotten with the tests for these things. You can pretty much fuck with them in any possible way and they will figure out a way to realign themselves such that they avoid falling down, or at least will reduce impact as significantly as possible and find a way to stand back up as quickly as they can.

TF1 is completely dead. Only a veeery small and dedicated group of a couple people play it. TF2 maintains a small but pretty consistent MP. Usually between 2k~4k at any given time. It’s a lot of fun but the best fun is when the /vg/ general stacks up and wipes the floor with everyone.

You're given access to 6 story missions that you can't replay and 2 free missions that you can replay, doesn't seem like you can augment your character in this demo either unlike in the beta. On a positive note, save made during the demo can be transferred over tot he full game so feel free to grind while you wait for the release in a few days.

There's also 2 coop boss missions you can do solo, they're pretty fun

Battlecry is indeed good; hope you're just as good at switching modes on the fly(if you've watched the anime, that's about as fast as you'll have to do it). Invasion is also not bad(covers New Generation/Invid arc), even if the twist is obvious a half mile away. The Macross shmups are quite enjoyable as well.
I will never not be mad at the canceled Crystal Dreams game slated for N64, though.

In both languages this is a reference to how the player name is changed to Irregular/Rebel and then a series of numbers when they undergo human plus upgrades. Irregular was likely changed to Rebel due to character limits.

The train is both easier than the spider, and his level is filled with mechs you can loot, and he gives a bit more money. Only thing about the train is stopping him from leaving the arena at the beginning.

Depends on what you didn't like about V. VD isn't too different save for how missions are structured and energy management being much more lax.

The damage system and energy management were the main things. VD probably takes care of one of those issues then.

The damage system is the same but upgrading weapons isn't retarded anymore so that issue might have been addressed too

They are better at longer range so they're easier to use, but at optimum distance the MGs have uncontested DPS

They are decent on the first fight to get rid of reinforcements since they have higher range and more ammo. For dmg smgs are a must tho

In my experience you didn't even need to go back to the train still on the track, that part stayed mostly immobile in the middle of the map.

Nothing quite gives you Armored Core autism but most of the games usually give you weapon/engine loadouts to fuck with. Part swapping though you're out of luck.

Something like MW2 Mercs? Sad to say nothing comes to mind besides MechCommander. I think Shattered Steel and Earthsiege might have a salvage system but it's been awhile.
Most of the games I listed are gameplay heavy and don't have you tweak the mechs as much. Maybe another user has the perfect suggestion for you.
