What does Yea Forums think about Platinum Games?
metal gear rising and nier a tomato are great
astral chain is kinda shit
garbage company that shovels out the same derivative shit
Shit when working with Nintendo. 10/10 otherwise
Love them for the most part. I think NieR: Automata was the most disappointing game ever made. Wonderful 101 is their best game.
Went downhill when they partnered with ninty
They make great action games.
>nier a tomato are great
dumb faggot
Good combat sometimes.
But everything else including story, side content, lack of different content to break up the repetition, are bad so you quickly get tired of the combat
what's wrong with nier?
Anemic combat, absurdly terrible balancing, most of the game is fetch quests, really egregious reuse of environments, and a story with a lot of interesting ideas but is mostly meandering and pointless, and then the ending just spells out the theme it wants to have which is pretentious.
The only Platinum game I've played so far is Astral Chain and I like it a lot, so I'm gonna try some others. Has anyone itt ever played Infinite Space?
They only give their all when the game they're developing is a Nintendo exclusive.
So, if when they release a non-Nintendo game you shouldn't touch it, not even pirated.
It's pretty easy to sprout a bunch of random nonsense when your'e critiquing a game, isn't it?
They've lost their luster. They just make average to mediocre titles now. I want Bayo 3 and MGR2. But instead get a meh game like Astral Chain.
Astral Chain was great and MGR was nowhere near as good as people make it out to be.
That's pretty much the only game made by them I haven't played. Honestly, check out their whole catalogue and if you have easy access to the games you see, try them out. You can skip Anarchy Reigns (dead online and barebones story mode), Korra, Star Fox Zero, and TMNT but other then that the rest of their shit is worth giving a shot.
Not that user; I too believe that Nier Automata was very mediocre
I never felt like I had to become good to finish the game; I just had to spam dodge and that's it. Same with the ship shooting sections.
The story lacked the impact the first Nier had and the Ending E "delete your save" ending was just a rehash without the same in-universe consequences as the first game.
The game was successful thanks to a mix of 2B's design, having the post-apocalyptic setting everyone in the west has such a boner with and being a braindead game everyone can finish.
I think both parties are at fault, but Kamiya failing to deliver anything promising out of Scalebound after 4+ years will always be a shit stain smeared over the studio.
LET HER RIP!
faggot
They delivered Astral Chain.
Seethe
Between that, being fired from the Granblue game and Babylon's Fall being nowhere to be seen I'm convinced that PG doesn't have work ethic unless they're literally against the wall.
There is a reason they were about to go out of business before Nier saved their ass. The stufio is handled poorly. They have a shit business model. They take on too many games at once and as a result never actually finish any of them, which results in wasted funds and getting fired, such as in that one anime game they were making. This is why we haven't seen Bayo 3 and babylons fall too.
This, but with MGR being excellent and you getting better taste
The most overrated active developer.
Nah, it's just plain Nintendo favoritism.
They focus on their Nintendo projects, letting the others to delay and rot. They only worked on Automata because they were near bankruptcy.
>fired from granblue game
why keep perpetuating this meme?
They’re shit.
It's a good game, but it's more about presentation than anything else. The combat mechanics aren't particularly deep or interesting.
First Nier was definitely a gem compared to Automata, thank god I played first Papa Nier before going to 2Butt
The Japanese counterpart to linear movie games like Last of Us and Uncharted
The only meme is pretending that they were hired to do a minor thing and then finished the contract.
Cygames hired them to make the backbone of the game not unlike Square Enix with the Automata project but decided to fire them when they realized that they hired a bunch of lazy, unprofessional shits. That's why every mention of PG's involvement has been scrubbed off from the Granblue Re: project.
Japanese companies are just too formal to make it public and start a scandal.
You have absolutely no proof of this, stop spreading nonsense.
The greatness of the combat in MGR:R comes from the encounters.
While the main campaign doesn't have that many moments I remember as particularly great, Sam's campaign has some real spectacular fights, Sam's VR04 on Revengeance will eternally be one of my favorite missions in any action game ever.
I personally don't think it's fair to call the gameplay mechanics weak if you can't finish VR04 on Revengeance because it means you probably don't fully understand a lot of them, the depth of this game comes from both the player's abilities, and the enemies', and a long, drawn out enemy rush really forces you to know them inside and out.
Good game.
I don't need proof for the truth.
Well, the last thing we knew was that Platinum finished the core gameplay of the game, Cygames was going to do finish all the rest, but let me see if I got it right.
Platinum are a bunch of lazy, unprofessional shits? I mean, sounds plausible considering happened with Scalebound
Why are you defending them so vehemently?
If you own a Switch, you're ensured to get their best work so why would you care?
If you don't own a Switch PG doesn't consider you a customer worth making a good game for in the first place so why would you care?
Probably the best developer out there right now, they put a lot of passion and care into their games, they should try more genres, like a survival horror game.
Pretty good
MGR is pretty good
Nier is kind of too easy and braindead
Just finished Astral Chain and it was great
I liked Bayonetta 1 as well, haven't played 2
Transformers was really good but TMNT and Korra were pretty weak on the whole.
Overall, pretty great dev
I want to play W101 but I don't own a Wii U
Their gameplay is good but artists and in game models are shit. Nier art was good also W101 but astral china and bayonetta in game models are just ugly. Hopefully they make younger and sexier characters since bayonetta only problem is that oldhag. I fucking hate old people and the shitty models. Also need more gore and blood also lolis. Stop making games targeting teenager rating and go with lots of violence. Better art = better game. Astral Chains artist isn't bad just the oldhag characters and genric in game models.
Not do a minor thing but they may have simply finished their contract.
That happens kind of regularly since it's not like Cygames hired anyone to replace them that we know of
great studio that made some of my favorite games of all time like bayo, VJ and god hand (clover is practically the same studio as P* shut up) wish they would release more games on non nintendo consoles but i suppose sony and microsoft are too retarded and will keep pouring resources into shitty open world oscar bait games so meh.
Didn't also remove their name. Mostly likely a problem happened they just don't want bad word of mouth.
Less defending and more using my brain. You're trying really hard to spin the narrative and claim pg only makes quality games for nintendo or something, which obviously isn't true. As for the Cygames situation, this is the official statement : ■ While Platinum Games left the project earlier in 2019, the bulk of what it built remains, including the level layout, character animation, and fighting systems. Anything else you hear is pure speculation.
One of my favorite Devs.
I'm worried the success of Automata and Astral Chain will influence their upcoming games. Both games are weighed down by their bloated stories and non-combat sections. Platinum should definitely branch out more often but tacking more shit onto an action game isn't the answer.
>On the last level of Astral Chain
>Only two moments in the whole game where you buttonmash during an intense scene
That's my favorite part about these games.
Blame Sony for spending all of their money in shitty cinematic experiences like Days Gone and TLoU2 instead of giving some money to Platinum to develop a good exclusive.
They might not sell the best, but Nintendo knows that to keep an image of a company who makes quality games they have to invest in some 1 million sellers and not just 10 million sellers that appeal to the lowest common denominator.
I honestly enjoyed the puzzles and investigation sections in AC, the game is about police officers anyway, not just superhero stuff beating interdimensional monsters.
Platinum games are cinematic experiences retard
If I spend hours in a training mode voluntarily beating up enemies, it's not a cinematic experience.
Let's say, for the sake of argument, that The Order 1886 and DMC5 both have the same amount of cutscenes and gameplay.
One is considered a cinematic experience and the other not, can you guess why?
I thought this was a platinum games thread? Why does it smell like brainwashed retards with a brand loyalty fetish?
Astral Chain isn't an action game, it is and always was an action RPG. Platinum Games is going to continue to do a bunch of different games in different genres, as they've always done, as Clover Studios always did.
Because you think DMC5 has flashy animations and it's Japanese therefore it's not a cinematic experience?
At this point you're just pretending to be retarded, why bother? It's not gonna help your case.
I accept your concession
Platinum Games is a pretty cool guy. Eh makes fun games and doesn't afraid of anything
It's clear Kamiya is starting to lose his touch with W101 and the cancelled Scalebound game, but it's clear that they are more than just Kamiya- and ex-Capcom staff with Metal Gear Rising, Bayonetta 2, Nier, Transformers, Astral Chain, etc.
I was worried that after Scalebound got cancelled and they had a ton of weird and failed licensed games (Anarchy Reigns, all the Activision shit) but I believe Nintendo will buy them out if they ever get too financially in the dumps. They are kind of like Monolith Soft or Square Enix where you know what you are going to get with their games, and that can be a good or bad thing depending on what type of game you like.
I'm not the one pretending DMC5 has gameplay though
>Plenty of developers release videogamey videogames on Playstation, Xbox and PC
>Platinum Games is the only ones oppressed by Sony, Microsoft and Valve
You PG fanboys are the worst.
They need companies to fund their games.
how big would the meltdown be if sony buys platinum games
>pg only makes quality games for nintendo or something, which obviously isn't true
It is. It's pretty obvious at this point.
wouldn't you like that
So do the majority of videogame companies, and still they manage to.
I think Platinum and everyone working there forgot that World of Demons was supposed to release this year.
www.platinumgames.com/games/world-of-demons
You're talking like PG is declining projects to Sony and Microsoft, when it was the exact opposite, Sony obviously isn't interested in them and Microsoft almost bankrupt them by cancelling Scalebound. Nier Automata is still a thing because SE put money for it.
Sony and Microsoft aren't the only videogame companies in the world.
Because they don't want to fund your games doesn't mean that no one will; you even mentioned Square Enix.
Maybe no one is interested on them because they have no work ethics?
I fucking hate Nintendo.
Nintendo is okay. Their fandom though...
>Current Platinum
>Even finishing a non-Nintendo project
Ohohohohoho
Good joke, user.
Good jok.e
Hola, JirenGamer25.
The Wonderful 101 is one of the best games ever made. Scalebound's cancellation is unfortunate but it's ridiculous to say Kamiya has lost his touch.
have sex
We have no idea of the reason, but people complain about them making Nintendo exclusives like it's their own choice. Nintendo just wants to give them money because they like what they do.
I don't even know what's the problem in them making Nintendo exclusives anyway, the games are good, so what's the big deal?
>Infinite Space
Never played. Heard it's great if you like that kind of game.
>Madworld
Unique score-based beat-em-up, fantastic visuals and sound. 7.5/10
>Bayonetta
A game that takes a lot of inspiration and at the same time has been an inspiration for action games since. Not my favorite Platinum game for a number of reasons but the basis of the combat and the aesthetics are top-notch. 8.5/10
>Vanquish
One of the few shooters I've really gelled with, especially single-player. Great movement, cool designs, subversion of cover mechanics. 8.5/10
>Anarchy Reigns
Love the idea. Execution wasn't quite there. Character designs were hit and miss. One of my favorite OSTs ever. 7/10
>Revengeance
One of their best as a "total package" but a bit weak in terms of actual combat depth. One of the most memorable, quotable games of all time. 8.5/10
>Wonderful 101
My favorite game of all time. I love everything about it and hope every day that it gets a second chance because it's that fucking good and more people need to play it. The biggest flaw is that the game doesn't give you all your moves fast enough. 10/10
>Bayo 2
One step forward, two steps back. The gameplay is just plain worse than the original and most other high-profile action games but it's still a good game with less nagging issues about the campaign than 1. Tag Climax was wasted potential. 7/10
>Korra
One of the lowest-budget games I've seen this decade that wasn't 100% shit. Mediocre and super short but given that it seems to have been made on a budget of $500 and a Happy Meal it's alright. 6/10
>TF Devastation
I fucking love this game. The combat takes a ton of different concepts and blends them seamlessly, the look and sound is immaculate, and the story is the perfect semi-serious sendup to cheesy 80s cartoons. It's also budget, but it had just enough to make an incredible game. 9.5/10
Star Fox doesn't count and I haven't played TMNT/Nier/Astral. I plan on getting AC. I hope Babylon's Fall is by Saito.
>Mediocre and super short but given that it seems to have been made on a budget of $500 and a Happy Meal it's alright. 6/10
i admit i kekd but is it really that bad? i was planning on playing it soon.
God I posted an image of Vanquish so people would fucking talk about it. Awesome fucking game. Innovative dedicated cigarette smoking button.
user, he just assmad that PG is making Nintendo games so that somehow means that they are somehow bias when they make games for multiple platforms.
Did Platinum really develop Star Fox Zero? What's wrong about that game anyway?
Miyamoto demanding that PG implement motion/gyro controls with the Wii U game pad to make the experience as gimmicky as possible.
It's barely 3 hours and that includes sections between each stage where you do an endless runner-style section while riding Naga AND a section in the final level where you're in an inverted color version of the first area. It's extremely low-budget. It's solid to play though, switching between the four elements is basically switching between weapons with designated playstyles, and it's not bad to do on the fly.
Yeah, the Korra game and TMNT are considered some of their worst outputs outside of Starfox. Might be worth a playthrough just to experience it but only if you get it cheap.
The game started with Miyamoto wanting a game where you steer a ship with Gamepad gyro, then he remembered Star Fox exists and made his game under that IP for branding. Platinum did asset creation and foundation work, but Miyamoto and his team were in charge.
a hit-or-miss meme game (which 8/10 times will sell like shit) factory.
Ahh the old Shiggy screwing our games again.
It is their choice, and there is really nothing wrong with that. Being exclusive to a hardware manufacturer works for companies like Atlus and Vanillaware and it's a respectable business decision.
What I find malicious is that they keep their feet in two boats: they only want to make good games for Nintendo (again, nothing wrong with that) while releasing mediocre products or even straight shovelware for everyone else because they don't consider the other platforms' owners to be someone worth their effort, just people to milk. Like a restaurant selling full-priced last night leftovers to white customers while selling their actual plates to non-white customers.
I just wish that they signed an exclusivity contract for Nintendo so the rest of people could make their mind with them being Nintendo developers and stop wishing for a Metal Gear Rising 2 or a Bayonetta 2: Angel Edition
How's MadWorld?
i'd suck their metaphorical dick
Great movies not so great games
metal wolf chaos is my favorite platinumgames game
