Bump

2 on pc lets you add custom voicepacks. Someone put together a John st john voice pack, easily turning XCOM 2 the best Duke Nukem game since DN 3D

Xcom enemy within + Long War

I'm on xbox one s so which version

dont be a poorfag
both

Xcom 2 wotc has way more fun classes
Lots of things were refined in order to make it less tedious and the mods. Holy fuck the mods.

Xcom ew has a better more scary atmosphere and is harder but it's not all that fun. Unlike xcom2 I was never ever happy to get back into a battle

So xcom enemy within? Got it!

>xcom 2 is goo-

Timer missions

OpenXcom + Piratez.

In xcom 2 you can literally make a character like your op using mods

Disable the timer or double them

Not in vanilla you cant

both are free. not sure what the problem is.

You can if you're on PC.

Why get the shittier game if you care about the atmosphere and difficulty? The correct choice in that case is OpenXcom.

first play and lose a game in enemy within (iron man)
then play xcom 2

Because at least the enemy within version doesn't have that stupid timer forcing you to rush through and counting your turns like it does in the new game

>t. bad
the timer is fine, necessary even
EW had too much fucking around and waiting for overwatch shots
XCOM2 makes you actually git gud

When do i attack the first blacksite in xcom2 war of the chosen?

>He managed to ever run out of time

Wtf is this? Just play the mission lol

This
The fatigue system and the fact that you have to wait for soldier to heal even if his hp doesnt go below the armor hp is bad though.

Ah yes so you're planning on watching Joker in theaters as well.

It got me curious actually but considering it is a hollywood movie i know they are gonna try and force the typical nerrative bluepill shit in it so I'll just wait for Yea Forums to say it's views once the movie comes out.

what do you call this aesthetic?

just go play openxcom

EODpunk

This. Like, wtf? I beat Xcom 2 twice and the only time I ran out of time was when I was a fucken noob and 2 was my first Xcom game. Even then I came back from the Avatar Project going into it's final countdown phase, so I can't imagine somebody being this much of a shitter.

He dont have pc

Xcom 2 is better

I gotta say lads I just love the Spark units

Their aim is kinda shit and their gun is just an assault rifle but their potential for being tanks is staggering

With a simple mod that adds +2 armor I can have them stand out in the open, be cover for my soldiers, be the obvious target for all enemies and use Sacrifice

I always feel like a hero sending my favourite SPARK with a squad

I'm going to be sad when he's destroyed. Inevitable.

war of the chosen was the perfect expansion

Do you ever get your soldiers back or are they permanently gone when they get kidnapped mid point during missions?

Wait you can disable them with a mod or something? That was the one fucking thing i hated about Xcom 2

I want to fuck a snake.

I went through the shitty Vita port, so let me tell you now: Run while you can and go get a PC able to play these. Ok? Cool. Good talk.

We all want to fuck the snake, user.

Sure let me just go and pull 5000 dollars out of my ass user

people bitch about timers but they're rarely ever a real inconvenience if you know how to play the game. The only reasons you will run out of time are if
>you blue-move/overwatch-crawled across the map like a mouthbreather
>you wasted turns trying to set up a beagle maneuver or some dumb shit
>you didn't keep moving forward while in contact with the ayys (most of your squad should move at least a partial blue move towards your current goal every move the timer is active)

keep moving constantly at a fair pace and you will win, it's not hard. For a lot of the objectives having a specialist + grenadier in your squad can buy you tons of time since you can have your grenadier destroy cover to create LOS to the objective, which your specialist can then hack from a distance.

What about the avater progression issue?

I, too, hated the concept of timed missions. But then I actually played the game. Now I couldn't imagine playing without them. In all xcom games I've always played overly methodically, making sure that at any given point no matter what I would be in the best possible position. So it's no wonder that after a certain point I get bored of playing them; to this day I haven't ever finished the original. But the timers changed that. All of a sudden I was forced to make hard decisions, adapt to inconvenient circumstances, and put my guys in danger because playing at an absolute snails pace was no longer possible. I ended up having much more fun than ever before because being forced to play this way allowed me to be less risk averse even in untimed missions.

There's one mission near the end of the game where you have to capture some sort of warp gate. In any other xcom I would move my squad up slowly and handle aliens as they came. In this one I ended up sending one of my rangers to a lone tree that provided the only cover near the portal. Suddenly half a dozen chryssalids dig their way up and I start to panic. I graze a few of them but nothing lethal. Luckily for me, I was trying a new build on this specific ranger since my usual one was hurt. This guy had 2 perks: the one that prevents 1 hit after getting a kill, and the one that auto slashes any enemies that come near. So I'm treated to a wonderful show where a chrysallid walks up to him, guaranteed misses, and then gets shanked for his trouble, 6 or 7 times. An amazing moment of emergent gameplay all because the timers taught to to work outside my comfort zone. Plus if you're still complaining the stealth system offsets most time pressure.
