Currently about to do stage 6 of route A , honestly I'm not enjoying it, maybe I picked a boring character (Amazon) , I dunno but the combat really isn't great even for a beat up its just dogpiling with your AI allies.
Aesthetically beautiful but the combat is just way too dull for me and I really don't see myself playing through Route B either or the side quests. So what am I missing ?
Elf is objectively the funnest class. also best girl
James Hughes
see, I would love to try the other classes, THE PROBLEM is that the game punishes you for that , I am already doing level 12 dungeon, starting a new character from scratch would mean replaying the entire game until where I am right now. Is that truly worth it ?
Anthony Powell
Play online or resurrect a higher lvl char
Adrian Taylor
You can always just rush through dungeons.
Cooper Perry
What do you mean resurrect a higher level character ?? I understand the Resurrection system but you can't play as characters you resurrect
Charles Moore
it's boring to play alone, odin's sphere and muramasa have much better combat
Grayson Wright
Square x 50
Nicholas Richardson
Hmmm. What if...all these games, Dragon's Crown, Muramasa, and Odin sphere...but on the Switch? I mean the Vita is dead and buried, and the Switch is the Vita 2.0 with weeb games coming on it left and right. So why not?
>Was touted as a sequel to the CAPCOM D&D arcade games >Combat was way too simplistic ,game ends resemling more a bad version of The King of Dragons with fancy new visuals What did Vanillaware mean by this?
Sebastian Gutierrez
what's your point?
Landon Hughes
I fell for the developing a close combat elf meme, instead of buffing range options like you are supposed to.
Joseph Perry
the game has been updated since ps3/vita release. new characters can skip the first run, and get the completed quest skillpoints from other characters. resurrect high level dwarfs if you want an easy time.
the game has 4 difficulties and 2 randomized dungeons, which are the meat of the game. the first one is 100 floors and the other is 50,000.
Josiah Wright
Are you playing alone? I had brother and cousin playing with me It was pretty fun but couldn't unlock cap for their characters and only main one I think so we stopped.
Henry Morales
yup, I'm alone, don't have a choice on that desu.
Bentley Hill
Wowowow you guys already Tell about "builds" in two threads...what i can fuck up in builds?Tell me about a good fighter one to see If i fucked up
Isaac Carter
mhmm, yea no. I will try playing the other characters maybe for a couple of levels to see if I get a feel for them but I definitely do not enjoy this games combat enough to play through all those floors, I barely want to play route b
Landon Jenkins
>playing with AI
I remember turn that shit off and beating the game solo.
The ai gets more useless on higher difficulties so it becomes a solo anyway.
Henry Fisher
Switch is a nintendo console and after muramasa on Wii vanillaware is not going to put games on nintendo
Dylan Gutierrez
casters are really the only fun classes to play. Resource management combined with big dick damage spells and loads of different attacks depending on which staff you use.
Melee and Elf are boring by comparison cause they're so limited in their playstyle.
Owen Morgan
I have this problem where I try to get through a game I've paid for until I want to basically snap the disc before I decide to completely drop it forever. I don't like wasting money or making quick assumptions so I need to be sure of my decision
Asher Stewart
Get the damage buff on blocking one. Congratulations, you did it.
Jason Mitchell
Elf was fun If I remember correctly it was jumping around, mobility and stuff like that.
It's been a long time since I played.
Nolan Moore
> I don't want to waste my money, so I will also waste my time
Dylan Brown
that's the sunken cost fallacy for you
Austin Martinez
I have alot of time to waste and as user said sunken cost fallacy is a thing I experience because I don't spend money on games willy nilly.
I've made my decision tho, after playing for little while, I've deleted and dropped it
Samuel Baker
Did you seriously only play one class?
Mason Roberts
More allies raises the difficulty and makes enemies spongier, so I avoided using them. It’s not a particularly deep game, you play it to turn your brain off and enjoy the lewd art and treasures.
Andrew Ross
>muramasa on Wii vanillaware is not going to put games on nintendo Muramasa on Wii was a hit. Sold better than Odin Sphere or GrimGrimoire on PS2. Also Kumatanchi sold great on DS.
Blake Turner
The fact that dragons crown was never ported to the switch is a goddamn crime... even if vanillaware and nintendo have beef.
Elijah Roberts
It really doesn't matter. Inform yourself on the history, Vanillaware and Nintendo had strong disagreements in the past.
no need for those passive aggressive remarks, could've just left it at >anillaware and Nintendo had strong disagreements in the past.
Gabriel Rogers
>Not having the three girls as AI/sex Alves to you Chad Fighter/Dorf/Wizard Lol what a gay
Logan Hill
are you playing it alone? game is not meant to be played handheld but couch coop at least with a buddy, optimal with 3
Tyler Long
>Nintendo and vanilaware have a beef Quick rundown?
Jonathan Sullivan
When the game first came out it was fucking awesome. There were a ton of people online and it was a really fresh experience.
Can't imagine there's a whole lot of activity on it anymore, but goddamn I had a blast with it back during release. Also, unlike most games it was actually pretty fun to play while stoned.
James Nguyen
And playing with others makes it a graphical mess where you can't tell what's going on on the screen
Angel Cooper
Hey, is the west ever going to get the expansion pack the Jappos got?
>expansion pack What, you mean pro? That's already out.
Kevin Murphy
Vanillaware didn´t had any issue with Nintendo but with MARVELOUS translation back then. Source or bullshit.
Robert Moore
>its just dogpiling with your AI allies you really should start playing either solo or with friends because the AI is worthless in the real game get used to reading enemy telegraphs and parrying with the amazon, a successful parry into a well timed critical smash to fuck shit up is one of the most rewarding things you can do in vidya period it's not super deep, but it has enough variety and the loot/build game is good enough to justify playing it for hundreds of hours I prefer the more technical elf play but amazon's still fun as hell, you just have to change your mentality on the game
John Bennett
You can solo the entire game as elf? No AI? How do you do enough damage etc? I think i've been playing this game wrong, i keep hearing about people that solo the entire game + endgame but i don't understand what you're doing differently.
When i played everything had massive bloated HP and hit like a fucking truck and i never did enough damage, what are you doing to make this all more viable?
you can turn it off at the inn so only other players join online, or you can close the slots completely which is required for certain quests
Jacob Young
No i understand that, what i don't get is how this changes the game into being soloable. Is the scaling with other party members THAT huge? If you go full solo does it suddently make all the enemies and bosses less bloated?
Charles Bennett
I played elf online on release, so my dps strategy was overusing salamander oil, poison and upward arrows so the damage area remains there for a while.
Jace Turner
>You can solo the entire game as elf? yes >How do you do enough damage etc? with elf? use arrows and magic for anything below inferno lv 1 coatings work fantastically too also eventually you begin getting better gear, though no enemies have really bloated HP pools that and pretty much learn to perfect dodge and yes, their HP does go down significantly the thing is that HP values in this game are balanced around the fact every character has a gimmick beyond their basic attacks they need to be using constantly for proper DPS and the AI can't do any of that shit though honestly everything below inferno goes by so fast wasting points into salamander oil and poison is like investing into backstab for anything more than memes just go for that elemental lore since early on and have fun
Benjamin Lee
Yes, the boss hp scales with the number of players. Companions make the game a bit of a visual mess anyway so I prefer to just play solo.
Matthew Morales
Ok, i think i've been playing this entire game completely wrong so far. I'll try it again solo next time i play it.
I love Muramasa and Odin Sphere and this game was my least favorite just because of how spongy the bosses were. I'm glad there's a way to make it feel closer to other Vanillaware games.
Easton Kelly
there is no expansion pack, Vanillaware doesn't do dlc
You just get good. The game isn't even hard to solo if you play the Amazon or Dwarf. The casters are harder, but doable on a second play through.
Gabriel Perry
Everything's a tutorial until you unlock the B routes. Then shit hits the fan.
Colton Diaz
I'm thinking about picking up Ninja Saviors, but do you guys have any recommendations for a beat 'em up that feels like a journey? Despite the downtime, I really liked how Dragon's Crown felt like an adventure. Can anyone recommend anything else in that vein? MUA3 is also on my radar even though it's not a traditional sidescroller.
Also, the difference between classes in this game is amazing. I started with Amazon and couldn't believe how different the mechanics were for Wizard. Shit's awesome and really makes it worth it to replay the game.
