blow it out your ass

How many threads have you made today you dumb fucking chink?

Tim is buttmad actually.

>That is... extremely hostile to indie developers

Attached: soy npc.jpg (497x617, 56K)

>"Don't fuck us in the ass."
>This is extremely hostile to indie devs!
How?
Don't put up a store page unless you wanna sell your game, bitch.

>stopping devs from taking games off steam after 9 months of free ad space to get Epic exclusivebux
>killed steam
and people call players "entitled". Yeesh

Based

>only offering a place on their store
>THEIR STORE
>WITH MILLIONS OF USERS AND FREE ADVERTISEMENT
truly hostile

Okay lads riddle me this.

Is there anything THAT'S NOT "extremely hostile" to indie developers?

>the only thing they are offering is a place on the store
And all the features that come with the store, features epic store doesn't have. Features those indie devs abuse and them abandon when they get epic's money. Holy shit, i hate dumb people.

fuck indies. bunch of entitled, talentless failure at life whiny shitters

>people can't use steam to get free advertisement
>ANTI INDIE REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
kek

free coffee and a button that says i helped the x community

replace x with current political party you dislike

Buying their shitty games and giving them perfect 10s in reviews.

>Post one emoji
>Everybody gets mad
I'm just happy that everybody's angry while I don't care

Okay, so speaking as an Indie dev myself, you're being really hostile right now. Can you stop?

If you're not giving them free money then you're pretty much abusing these devs.

>Holy shit, i hate dumb people.
they aren't dumb. they are just screeching that now they can't have the cake and eat it too

What happened now?

>>Given a place on the store of the most popular and trusted existing PC storefront
>>somehow not enough

How about these morons try selling their game by themselves on their own taking payment through fucking PayPal and see how successful their fucking shovelware is then.

"JUST" a place on steam is not some small thing, this is actual entitlement which is funny considering how often that word gets misused towards consumers who dare expect quality products in exchange for their money

That assumes Epic is going to open the flood gates to those Indies. Tim can act all smug but if they decide not to be on Steam and have zero hype they won't be on Epic either.

>WTF GABEN, why won't you let me advertise for your competitor on your store?
lmao, fucking indi devs

Attached: 1464558758892.png (321x308, 87K)

Steam enacted a rule that if you put a game on steam it has to release on steam within 30 days of releasing on another service.

> don't put up a store page if you're not going to sell your game on our store
what reason?

Their cali friends

Tim only helps indie devs if they have enough popularity, he's not going out and looking for indie devs to give deals too, literally only buying stuff up because they happen to gather clicks

shopping carts and online purchases

Steam won't let devs post store pages for games that are epic time exclusive until they actually release or if they release on both stores at roughly the same time
Epic bugmen are mad that their free advertising is being cut off

Because there are some games that opened a page on steam for their game for months to only switch exclusive to Epic. Not only open but use their forums, reach, etc, etc

They also covered their bases here because they cannot do Epic update exclusive anymore.

This is a good thing. Only retards don't.

Came here to post this. Tim will post another 20 tweet rant about how valve is evil for doing this. Then an hour later go back to denying all indie games that aren't made by high profile AA studios.

lol whatever you say tenscent

It's pretty hilarious how the drones were celebrating this not realizing all it actually does is turn 6 month exclusivity into permanent exclusivity.

Attached: honest_reviewers.jpg (930x1549, 427K)

>indie games

what will i ever do with the lack of shitty pixel art sidescrollers and platformers???

fuck indies

but epic does worse stuff
valve didnt say you cant put the games on other platforms
epic does say that

feel free to use this to btfo this thread the next time it's posted :^)

fpbp

oh no, what ever will i do.

if anyone wants to know why paid epic shills are out in full force today, steam updated it's clause to no longer allowed delayed steam releases when it comes to pc.
so no more epic exclusives for a month/year and then later release on steam.
this also stops people using their unreleased game page on steam as an advertisement for another store's release.

i'm guessing epic thought steam wasn't going to do anything and continue being the "bad guy"?
scummy devs got boned and epic will have to rethink their strategy

Attached: 76262611_p0.jpg (2048x2048, 460K)

this
fuck the endless shitheaps of 2d sidescrolling platformers
they fucking suck dick we're not in the 80s anymore you fuckers

That's what I was saying. There's no reason for indie devs to leave.

>based tim responds to crowds of hate with a single emoji
>removing the ability for shitty sjw devs from flooding the steam store with their awful early access games and then removing them at release and making them epic exclusive
>everyone's raging because indie devs can't advertise their games for free any more
call me a pcbro, i relish in it. this is a logical approach to people stealing from your company

But how is Tim going to know which games to buy if he can't just buy every game at the top of the Steam Wishlist charts one week before release?

Is there anything cringier than people using Yea Forums lingo outside of Yea Forums

the moment fortnite stagnates and fails to produce further continuous growth for Epic's investors is the moment their storefront crumbles and all the """incentives"""" vanish.

Epic are in a race against time to poach as many games and developers as they can to their storefront because they know it's only a matter of time until another game comes along and does to fortnite what they did to PUBG. Epic is not a competently run company, the success of their shitty battle royale is essentially a complete fluke, remember that the initial Fortnite was a total failure before they latched onto the battle Royale bandwagon.

Fortnite doesn't need to fail for them to collapse, it just needs to lose its dominance and falter a bit for their unstable position to collapse in a heartbeat. It'll still make money just like PUBG continues to, but any delusions of industry captainship will be dead and buried

They are talking about Steamworks API not Steam client user facing features.

partner.steamgames.com/doc/features

Single player indie games use cock all of those.

Oh no, the devs are going to cut their own potential profits, that'll show us!

Attached: 1406265345672.gif (375x375, 171K)

Siiiiiiip.
Ahhhhh.
...
No.

I legitimately don't understand. How is this anything but a good thing for steam? Why would they want people to use their platform to advertise a game that isn't going to be sold on their platform?

>they fucking suck dick we're not in the 80s anymore you fuckers
this isn't even the issue. no one would shit on worthless indie shitters if their games were at least half as good as the old classics.

>hey gamestop
>put all these banners of our game in your store with promo boxes on your shelves

>but sir, will you actually be selling the game in our store?

>fuck no. We'll recall the inventory and make it an amazon exclusive at launch!
>k thanks, cheers, bye!

For real. Retail stores have had contracts about this kind of shit since forever almost. Why are people surprised that online stores would follow suit?
If anything I was shocked to learn that this wasn't already a thing.

Man remember when Indies used to have to find a publisher to launch on Steam half the time? Losing an additional half of their revenue just to tie themselves to someone else's clout. Guess we'll go back to that arrangement.

It IS a good thing for Steam
This directly damages Epic

As hltv once said : cry is free
Obviously devs want all the advantages they can get and are upset when they're taken away.

Valve is doing better at killing itself more than Epic could ever hope for

One of the biggest complaints with steam is how difficult it is to get noticed, a steam page is not an effective advertisement for a game

Not necessarily, the can be functions like people being more ready to buy on epic because they dont wait it to be on steam because they saw it on steam.

that's such bullshit. all steam does is cram indie games down your throat.

well tick tock steamies, looks like egs is the better store :)

Attached: theendiscoming.jpg (596x196, 26K)

Santa's gonna have to put in work.

So instead of offering some kind of incentive for developers to choose Steam, they just threw a tantrum? How did Valve fall apart so badly?

>a steam page is not an effective advertisement for a game
If that's what you think, then you shouldn't feel sorry about being unable to make a store page in advance then.

NO DONT POST IT DONT NO STEAM NO BUY NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

>game currently has 7 concurrent players on Steam
>max out at 1k concurrent
OMG MY INDIE GAME OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOO

>If anything I was shocked to learn that this wasn't already a thing.
Isn't this how Valve always rolled though? They're mostly reactionary when it comes to this stuff, if people eventually abuse it then they're forced to make things more strict for everybody because we can't have nice things anymore.

Like how indie devs literally abused the fuck out of steam keys years ago or EA selling DLC outside of Steam to get a 100% cut while completely butchering the base game.

>"exclusive"

Attached: oefoz8bg.gif (350x350, 132K)

Yeah I'm sure all those amazing features will keep people on steam while all the games (you know the actual product) are on every other launcher

Then this should be no issue. If you never make a steam page before launch you can release on Steam at any point regardless of exclusivity.
What you said is horseshit of course, evidenced by the whining.

Went to see my old high school play football Friday night. Couldn't find a parking spot anywhere close because there were so many people unofficially "reserving" spots for their friends by putting cones in the parking spot. I tried just moving one so I could get in but the guy parked in the next space started screaming at me that I was being extremely hostile to indie tailgaters.

>Blatantly samefagging

Attached: 1414196497456.png (211x246, 11K)

Indie developers worried about this weren't getting on EGS anyways.

wow this is better than comedy, keep it up steamies

Attached: HAHAHAHITSKEEPSCOMING.jpg (606x861, 77K)

alright, i have to ask. i'm working on a game, i'm gonna do the kickstarter and all that, but would people be mad if i took the epic deal, but never promised the game on steam? if i stated outright that i'm looking at options, and will take the better financial deal, would people react as negatively? because if i'm totally honest, epic's deal is much better than steam. steam offers you literally nothing but they take a 30% cut. they say they have a huge market, yet we have proof that means absolutely nothing.

>literally the only thing Steam can offer indie devs is marketing
>take away their marketing
>"WTF why is everyone moving to Epic?"
Yeah, you really showed them. Now Epic will gain even more exclusives that will NEVER launch on other platforms, forcing people to use EGS even harder than before, since they can't just wait for it to launch on Steam. Valve just can't stop winning, amirite? Forcing timed exclusives into becoming permanent exclusives is SO pro-consumer!

Attached: 1522776289224.jpg (611x548, 69K)

1: who is this
2:why should i care what they say
3: stop shilling your own twitter

They won’t be buying the game on Epic either, because Tim only allows specific indie games on his store. Funny enough, like says, I strongly believe Epic uses Steam wishlists and preorder sales to gauge which games they snipe for exclusivity deals. This change definitely will impact Epic’s business as well, which is why Tim’s going in damage control mode instead of acting smug like he does with every perceived “victory.”

Damn EGS must be fucking shit for this guy if he's begging this much, actually sad, when's he gonna ask timmy for more money?

>>take away their marketing
They only lose the marketing if they had no intentions of actually selling their game on Steam. If you are going to sell it on Steam then it's no problem and you lose nothing.

its sarcasm based retard

Lol that face is "dude, you got really let this girl beat you": the look. It's dripping with condescension and sexism but I bet he slays anyways

The indies bitching about visibility aren't getting picked up by EGS, Timmy boy only cares about games that were already going to sell.

Amazing features such as being the biggest market for PC games
lmao seething indie bugman

Attached: 1373685044698.png (442x230, 40K)

People using Twitch emotes IRL is up there I guess

>Now Epic will gain even more exclusives that will NEVER launch on other platforms
And how are they going to do that if Epic’s only allowing less than 0.1% of indie games on their service, dumbass?

The only places I encounter Epic shills.

On twitter by journors, Cali crowd
and on Yea Forums
Even in reddit epic shills are downvoted. People are even linking torrents of epic games.

Kinda makes you think

you'd still get treated like the villain because when it comes to pc the entire community is on steam
people will know you only took the deal to get the initial fake sales boost and don't care about players

>Steam
>marketing
If you haven't been paying attention devs have been crying about their games disappearing into a sea of piss on Steam because there are just so many game coming out.

You should stay there, where you came from.

I doubt Timmy cares about them either

>indie devs
>Epic
The only indies getting on EGS are people in the vanbeer circle jerk and games developed by teams that are larger than the average 90s development team.

Attached: 1535331578065.png (240x240, 49K)

>people will know you only took the deal to get the initial fake sales boost and don't care about players
i'd only do it for money though.

valve isn't even offering me free money for my game that will sell 800 copies

>0.1%
well the rest is trash and belongs to steam

Attached: shovleware.jpg (911x1061, 114K)

It's like blaming Walmart for not marketing your product on tv/banners etc.
You have to do it yourself.

>release shit game
>nobody wants to buy your shitty game
>blame other games
good one indie niggers

Make better fucking games then. If you can't compete with literal shovelware then you don't deserve any sales in the first place.

But I came here I just do marketing. I need to go everywhere. Maybe you're the one that needs to go.

you should stay there r/fucke*icsubhuman

>that butthurt chink in the last thread who broke from his script and had a complete meltdown about basic economics regarding trade policy

Attached: 12 -.png (352x352, 250K)

As much as you hate reddit. People over there can smell a chink rat from miles away and they can downvote them to oblivion. Thus them shilling there is pretty redundant. But here, they can leave their rat dropings everywhere and people will still reply. Give them free (You's) and some army of retarded zoomers to defend their shitty store for them.

G E L D R E I C H

>another 30% is atrocious!!! article
what the actual fuck, do they even know what they are parroting?

Retard that's exactly why, there's so much shoved in front of people stuff doesn't get noticed in the pile because of all the shovelware.

Steam Labs seems to be doing fine job. I saw people getting recommended games they own on PS4 based on their Steam account.

Go back

Could be contrarions looking for easy (You)s or a group of shills circlejerking each other.

well daily reminder steam drones are reddit subhumans, not a surprise at all epic shits on reddit, gayben sucks reddit cock

>contrarian's looking for easy you's

yeah, shills and false flagging are %50 or more of the posts in any thread, then you have the %30 of fuckers who want to discuss video games and %15 shitposters and %5 lurking

honestly every thread starts to look the same

Attached: 1565278366467.png (408x818, 152K)

An install base of millions of potential customers isn't incentive enough?

Screencaps?

>biggest market
>not a single AAA publisher beside Bethesda who already has their own launcher
Remember how literally half of the steam daily logins dropped when chinks got their own bluehole client to play PUBG on? Steams entire financial plan is based entirely on lootboxes and hats

>LOL JUST MAKE A BETTER GAME

THESE INDIE DEVS ARE MAKING BETTER GAMES
BUT BECAUSE OF STEAM'S DOG SHIT NON-CURATION AND ABUSIVE POLICIES TOWARDS INDIES THEY CAN'T SELL
LITERAL YEARS OF WORK FLUSHED DOWN THE TOILET BECAUSE GABEN CAN'T BE BOTHERED TO SWEEP ALL THE PUZZLE HENTAI GAMES ON THEIR STORE

>can't compete with hentai puzzle games
OH NO NO NO NO

>Believing the curation myth

Lmao

What puzzle hentai games?
I'm looking at the front page and I see none.

>an extremely pro consumer move by valve angers chinks
Who would have thought.

Attached: 1453330853373.jpg (392x370, 17K)

just scroll near the middle-bottom until you see the chink sperging out

So what happens when Epic opens up their store and there are thousands of games available? Curation only does so much and there is eventually a breaking point.

So man up and deal with the backlash your descisions bring. Don't expect to have your cake and eat it.

They 100% use the steam charts to decide which games to poach. An indie developer that refused EGS exclusivity recently made public the communications between himself and Epic on the subject.

Steam
>Killed physical distribution
>Closed pc gaming with their api
>Do nothing almost nothing even tho they earn 30% of revenue from industry
>Refused to give refunds for years
>Invented lootboxes
>Valve time
>Lied about hf3
>Charged for anti-consumer practices

Epic
>Saving pc gaming by lowering the tax
>Providing open api for any platform to use
>Crossplay
>Pro-competitive
>Pro-consumer, they lowered the prices so much publishers needed to step in to stop them durning their sale.
>Free games out of their own pockets.

>everyone has different tags and curation lists
>everyone gets different lists based on their preferences
>or you can turn that off
>gets beaten out to literal bejeweled with porn pictures
>but it's the mass amount of bad games that makes my bad game not sell!

Volvo did act against EA selling DLC, which is why origin even happened
Indie shit were mostly not big numbers, nothing compared to just not being able to fucking sell AAA releases and shit

How in the fuck could you expect that Steam would continue to do this? It makes no sense for them to do so.

You can filter stuff on steam for at least a year now. He is just using some talking points given to him by his manager.

>lied about hf3

I assume you mean half life 3 and it's always been people will work on what they want

Attached: balanced auto balance.webm (1280x720, 2.97M)

Well, market the game yourself, pay people or magazines to write about you. It is you who need to prove that your game is better than a thousand other similar games after all.

Watching streamdrones seeth makes my dick hard. I unironically love seeing GOG and Epic start biting at Gabes heels, Valve is fucking garbage and has been getting worse by the year, yet still has defenders because of Half Life. They treat Valve like its their best friend. Its not only a business but a shitty one, or a great one if you're looking at it with jew vision. They stopped making games the second they could sit comfortably on their 30% and income from the marketplace.
Valve is a joke, Gabe pushes whatever he can without a care about you, paid mods, shitty sales that are a joke compared to what they used to be, trash skinnerbox games like Artifact only made to sell shit on the marketplace, no creative goal behind it what so ever.
Steam is a stagnated piece of trash that has endless problems in both its design and the sheer amount of shit on the store, shit that is let through because Valve don't give a shit about quality control. 30% of an asset flip unity shitter is still 30%, and its all about the money.
When does steam improve? Only when someone bites at it. The community upgrade would have never happened without Discord, the library upgrade would have never happened the other launchers starting to make steam look like out dated trash.
Fuck Valve, and fuck the drones. I'm smiling ear to ear seeing them ironically not get to play the one game they were born for, a drone simulator.

Attached: 1567498473297.webm (900x506, 2.87M)

>>Killed physical distribution
You mean those great games with DRM like Starforce or Securom?
Which you can't even play anymore because Microsoft flagged them as dangerous.
Based Epictard.

>”NOBODY CAN SEE MY GAME WITH ALL THIS SHOVELWARE! VALVE CLEAN THE GARBAGE OFF YOUR STORE!”
>Valve removes your game when it sweeps up shovelware

Pottery

Your shit game is only on Steam because Steam lets literally anything on. You want them to curate because you mistakenly believe your unloved masterpiece will make the cut, but it won’t. It would get shoveled out with the rest of the garbage the instant “anything goes” stopped being the rule.

Sucking cocks works too.

>can't wishlist a game if it's on epic or gog before steam
>pro-consumer
Get that cock out of your mouth user.

>pay people or magazines
Which part of indie do you not understand? I don't have the money to pay magazines. Where the fuck would I get that money, I make a game and I sell it, before it sells I don't have any money.

>2 games out of 100000 examples
>this is why we needed digital drm for all games
just kys

1/10 easy to tell bait

epic app is more outdated, it also has no community so it will never improve

>Reddit spacing
Back to r/fuckepic with you cum-gargling gayben fuck rag

Faggot indie dev or faggot gook? Either way you aught to stop slurping cum

>THEY DO MAKE BETTER GAMES
Prove it then. Send some review codes to reviewers and ecelebs.
Spend some on marketing instead if whining that an online retailer doesn't do that for you.

Go on, lad!

What monkey game?

As indie dev, this would be good news for me because less indie shits = my game will be exposed more.

are you fucking retarded ?

>Hey Walmart, I have this brand of potato chips I want to sell, it has won over 30 flavor awards. Oh, but we don't want you to sell it yet. Just advertise it for us, let us use your call centers for customer support, and have an empty shelf labelled with our brand.

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey

It would be really poethic if Valve released a steam-only game that would displace fortnite as number 1 online money cow

No, but you are, because you don't own any actual physical copies.

Luigu

Maybe devs shouldn't make garbage games then.

Yes I did

Something something food analogy

Uh, they did, bro. It's called ARTIFACT. Have you been living under a rock?

Nice one, user!

A funny joke! Quite a jest at Valve!

Question for steamdrones.
Does Gabes cock taste that good? Does it really taste so good that you're willing to embarrass yourself so fucking hard for no reason?
Please just tell me, does it taste good?

Thanks for the qrd m8.

Valve doesn’t make games anymore.

For some reason, this REALLY bothers one guy on Yea Forums who autistically shitposts about how much he hates Steam and loves Epic. I don’t know why.

Context?

Least its bigger than chink dick.

What kind of faggot writes like that.

How does the dick taste?

Question for epicdrones.
Does Tims cock taste that good? Does it really taste so good that you're willing to embarrass yourself so fucking hard for no reason?
Please just tell me, does it taste good?

Same question, but replace steam and Gabe with Epic and Tim.

now its coping time I guess

OP btfo yet again

most indie devs are retarded communists. it's not surprising they'd side with a corrupt communist regime's attempt to strong-arm a monopoly over PC platform, and they can't figure out why a business has decided the chinked-up indies have abused good-will for too long and so are no longer provide a marketing billboard or offering forums or steam keys for a game that Steam can't even sell for 12 months thanks to an exclusivity contract with another store. Why doesn't Tim Sweeny have forums, again? He's worth billions of dollars! Why can't his company provide forums for their games? Steam does, even GOG does and GOG is run by a bunch of poles barely making ends meet.

Their LGBT "allies"

...

Dota 2, but this time FPS BR

So you don't own actual physical copies of pc games epictard?

heh, another valve drone bites the dust

wtf bros valve is forcing these indie devs to actually sell their game on steam instead of just putting it on the storefront and leaving it there until their epic exclusivity contract ends how can gaben do this to them?

>Shit devs migrate to zombie platform because they can't scam steam users
>These devs will eventually have to crawl back to steam with diminished advertising and hype
Nice

>Why yes, I DO prefer sucking large penis
This isn't a good comeback

Touche

>THESE INDIE DEVS ARE MAKING BETTER GAMES
Like what?

The ONLY reason there's been a backlash is the bait-and-switch nature of epic exclusives so far, and the devs going all "I'm going exclusives for my principles, the lump sum has absolutely nothing to do with it."

As long as you're honest and upfront, the vast majority won't blame you. Trolls gonna troll, but there's no way to avoid that.

...

>chink rats got BTFO so hard in this thread that he made a second thread to cope from that serious stomping

Don't release on steam during holiday sales or any big sales event.
Don't release on Steam when there are triple AAA games releasing on the same date.
Don't release on Steam during the seriously crisis events such as Hong Kong protest, 2018 California wildfires, 2020 Presidential Election or something like that.
These tips helps my indie games getting more exposed to the public.

the plan is to 100% make it clear as day, that if epic approaches me with a really good deal, i'm going to take it, because i want to make a lot of money. with said lot of money, i intend to support the game, and make free post-content.

Why are you arguing over epic and steam? The users arn't even their customers

well I see that eppicchads purged steamdrones, most of the steam drone replies are
>r-retard
>c-chink (daddy gayben sucks huge chink dick in the meantime)
lurk more newfaggot

The two things he listed were two notoriously shitty DRM methods you dumb fucking zoombug.
>securom is a fucking game

Taking the money from EGS is basically admitting that you don't think your game will sell. If you don't have faith in your product why should your customers?

>Taking the money from EGS is basically admitting that you don't think your game will sell. If you don't have faith in your product why should your customers?
>getting a publisher to front the money is basically admitting that you don't think your game will sell. if you don't have faith in your product why should your customers?

I wonder if someone will pay at least 15 dollars for my Control and Wolfenstein girls edition keys for EGS when I get my new GPU. Would be nice.

GIVE ME MONEY TO SELL MY GAME ON YOUR PLATFORM

>being this much of a illiterate
>2 games out of 1000 uses this kind of drm
just kys

More power to you buddy
I'll be sure to pirate your game if it's decent

Valve is already taken over by SJWs and the fatfuck SJW Gabe is already deeply brainwashed by SJW ideology. SJWs mindlessly do dirty, arrogant, greedy, and scammy things. Its a matter of time before SJWs destroy everything.
Im not exaggerating. For instance, SJWs actually totally destroyed Vertigo comics only a few months ago. which is one of DCs branches and had a 25 year history.

Vertigo Comics Was DESTROYED By SJW Extremists...But No One At DC Has The Courage To Admit It
youtube.com/watch?v=BSS4gIM0MkY

Valve d*rones deserve this shit. They are as brainwashed as SJWs. I use steam but never think its a good or "fair" platform. Only buy some on sales.

> less Unity-survival-template-early-access-shit on Steam
Oh no, we are doomed.

>how dare you not let us use your store to market our game that's exclusive to another store!

What a bunch of idiots

>Put game up on steam
>Get interest
>Ummmmm, actually, its EGS exclusive now XD XD XD X3 sorry!
>Steam makes new rules saying you can't use steam for easy advertisement
>WOW WE'RE THE VICTIM!

Attached: 1429812220420.jpg (1224x1445, 125K)

Stay in "stealth mode". Take a Epic deal and reveal your game on the release date, and you will announce that you will release your game in Steam next 6 months on the same day.

>That OP and pic
Oh wow, a rule against advertising while selling on another platform? Who would have thought! And here I was thinking the stinkeye that McDonalds guy gave me for selling BK whoppers in their resturant was because of the stain on my jacket.

/thread, steam is a social media platform for sjws according to gayben

Stfu gay boy

There is literally only one tranny that worked at Valve and it got pissy because they didn't call it a she, Seems kinda like they don't care about SJWS and that you're full of shit.

>thinking if he changes what he wrote in a subsequent post, it applies retroactively
Watching you flail around is more fun.

CAN ANYONE FUCKING TELL ME IF THIS IS ACTUALLY NEW OR IF IT'S BEEN THERE SINCE 2017/DECEMBER 2018?

This, I'm glad that rat Sergey Galyonkin is getting his shit blocked. Fuck that guy.

Yeah, I think you should be fine with that. Honesty might even get you some good word-of-mouth.

Take the epic deal, nobody is going to actually buy your shit game so you should take what money you can get.

how fucking entitled do you have to be to get mad that valve expects you to actually sell your game on their store if you want to list it on their storefront?

I love how you assume epic us going to approach you and offer you money, they arent.

If you're not from cali, that will never happen.

>Doing a massive push of your shit store through exclusives without having the infrastructure or basic features that every other storefront has
>Still not having any of this a year later

The 30% cut is valve's kickback for all the risk's and backlash valve took back when they started their games storefront which was and still is a better deal then you get trying to put a game on console when you factor in certification and license fees. So these Sanfranfaggots can cry elsewhere about their indie shithouse not being able to afford the astronomical rent for their "interactive experience" because of fat boi gayben's greed

keep working for the minimum, wagie. i'm saving your post to post on Yea Forums when i hand out free keys.

You just understand man.
Indie devs work really hard and if Steam doesn't put THEIR "Like-That-Other-Popular-Indie-Game-But..." game on front page spotlight 24/7 for at least a week before and after it's release then what the fuck is Gaben even thinking about?
You see Steam is full of garbage games that get released at a pace of at least 100 per day but THEIR game totally isn't garbage and deserves a spotlight on Steam.

>Richard C. Meyer is now shilling his shitty videos on Yea Forums
was ruining Yea Forums for years not enough for you?

>use steam as free advertising for a year
>make it epic exclusive, making the steam page essentially false advertising
>valve makes change so that if you list it on steam it must be sold on steam
>this is somehow bad for valve
You are either a retard or an epic shill.
Or both.

Inb4 "Steam is only adding new features because they're afraid of Epic"

Just you wait.

Why is there a certain subsect of fag that types like that? They're always melodramatic in every sentence, and I can't fully explain it but I can just feel the faggotry in the words.

Isn't he just a freelance coder?

Brain driven exclusively by emotions.
They're trying to show it off to everyone.

Based DOUK

No, likely just autistic. The large majority of consumers who are normal will be even happier with this decision as the influx of dogshit indie games saturating the store is going to decrease significantly.

>actually supporting ZOG American "capitalism"
>not supporting based Chinese social order and tradition
How fucking brainwashed can you be to still support Steam at this point? It's full of degenerate weeb porn that's designed to destroy your brain, social relationships, and moral code. Why not take the first step on the path towards a sustainable future NOT ruled over by corporate oligarchs who only care about squeezing you for every penny you're worth until you're all used up and ready to replaced by the next migrant off the boat?

Then go take up knitting. The video games industry is probably the most competitive entertainment industry.

Chinese culture is/was unusually prepared for a communist regime, it just fits with their traditions more than other forms of government.

Yes actually, the whole world tries (and fails) to replicate our culture while being tsundere as fuck.

Benevolence has always been a part of Chinese culture.

Aww. The rat got so butthurt that he didn't even read the thread. Sorry sweaty.

I was thinking more obedience and putting the collective above the individual, but okay.

Why are indies still mad at steam and not at their fellow indies?

Don't they realize they're literally facing the realities of a world where making games is now more accessible than it's ever been?

Wut

they were literally crying for that in the May Fourth movement

Tell that to the Uighurs

How is this hostile to devs? You have to actually... Release the game on steam if you want it to have a store page there.

Go spike more babies Liu Bei.

No such thing. There are only Chinese living in China. Man, CIA propaganda has you by the balls.

Epic can't steal exclusives from Steam anymore. They actually have to handle curation now instead of letting Steam do it for them and stealing anything wishlisted a lot via SteamSpy numbers.

Fucking awesome if you ask me. Maybe they'll get off their high horse and fix their awful store.

Because indies realize that after getting a check from Epic and telling their consumer base to fuck themselves is a bad move afterwards and still need to spread the word of their game somehow. Steam cutting them off from free advertising hurts their feefees in a feefee driven world.

This reminds me that the Division 2 isn't on Steam and probably never will be, so I should delete the first one finally.

Thanks, OP.

>THESE INDIE DEVS ARE MAKING BETTER GAMES
No

I bet you it'll come after year 1 so they can grab a boost in playerbase

Devs just have to decide now

What if they burn their tongue or prick theirselves in the button?

Anyone who writes like that didn't get bullied enough in high school.

Anyways how the fuck is it hostile to indie developers. Don't be a conniving little sneak thief.

user, if you believe this I have a bridge to sell you.

SHUFAGS OUT

He has pronouns in his bio. All you need to know.

This hurts literally no one but dishonest scammers.
If you want to sell your product on Steam you still can just like before.
If you want to sell your product on Steam and on other platforms, you still can just like before.

The only thing you can no longer do is bait & switch and pretend like you want to sell on Steam but then exclusively sell elsewhere.

>b-but that won't make my game (which is just a copy of other game) be unique anymore. I WANT TO STANDOUT ON PUBLIC BECAUSE MY DAD NEVER GAVE ME THE ATTENTION I CRAVE.
Seriously, these people are no different than biker gangs who revs up their bikes to stand out from the crowd. Just this time, they're making noises on twitter. I dream of a day that one day people would have the balls to tell them to shut the fuck up.

>WTF WE CAN'T BAIT AND SWITCH ANYMORE? GOD WHAT A GREEDY CORPORATION!

>having ubisoft games in your library

This. And I don't even care for this "war", it makes perfect sense.

It is NOT Steam's job to advertise your fucking game. YOU have to pay for your own marketing. Hand out keys to Streamers, talk about it on forums, hire shills. Jesus Christ, storefronts aren't your parents.

It actually does work pretty great. Those "show my your niche" threads are full of gold.

Also, can Epic please give away some games that are not shitty platformers ok thanks.

This board ain't your country where you can just outright lie and people will just accept it.

Based (You) farmer

>Steam's 30% cut is generally unreasonable
Explain why 30% is unreasonable? Jeff Vogel has been making and selling games longer than a majority of people in the industry. Steam's 30% covers the entire payment process, from refunds, transaction disputes & chargebacks. Distribution is handled by them so he doesn't have to ever worry again about bandwidth or outages on his part. That comes along with general distribution so no need to constantly remember to send the keys & software to clients. Speaking of clients, he doesn't even have to deal with them directly anymore, that's all done via Steam's customer support. Steam also gives him his own store page & forums for ALL of his games. This is the business side of making games, & Steam has managed to automate that process for everyone. Publishing games as an indie developer has never been cheaper or easier, yet indies believe that all these services provided don't warrant a cut for Steam? And it's not just Steam that ask for 30%. Other services have adopted the standard Steam has set up. GOG, PSN, XBL Marketplace, Nintendo eShop, they all ask for 30%. Hell, the patching & distribution of games is a process that requires the console licensor to review & charge additional cost. That is free on Steam.

What do indies think these services deserve then? If they think they deserve less, then guess what! Steam even gives you that option too! Generate keys & sell them directly from your site. You'll get your bigger cut that way. Consumers have the option to pay for games even cheaper than the retail price if they want to by going to key resellers.

Indie devs have it easy these days. They can focus strictly on the game making portion & release it. Problem is, they're so coddled by today's environment that they don't put in a single bit of thought or effort in the business & marketing side. They think Steam should handle that for them as well, & on top of them, ask for LESS!

Attached: Jeff-Vogel-630w-630x381.jpg (630x381, 44K)

It is definitely steams fault that they allow thousands of garbage games that clutter the store.

I wish getting a (You) actually had monetary value. I'd have god knows how much cash now from all the (You)s I've gotten in these Epic threads.

Should've posted his GDC talk, it's great.

anyone else think Tim and Gabe conspiring behind the scenes to manufacture this "Epic vs. Valve" "store war" flamewar just to keep competition healthy for PC gamers all while maintaining kayfabe? seriously just imagine the two fat old boomers with infinite money just cracking brews and shitposting on Yea Forums and resetera together while getting blown by each other's spouse.

Not being able to spell 'promiscuity' really helps your argument.

Resched the character limit.

Then either make a good fucking game or buy advertising space.

I'm more of a "pig in a sack" kind of guy myself.

What is marketing

its a drone lie, steam copied the physical distribution cut from sony and microsoft without having to deal with the psychical part

>inb4 but curating is expensive
just kys, steam is filled with shovel ware and physical distribution is much much more expensive than fucking curating server

So is this new or not?

Did Valve specifically set this up right before the big beta test for their new Steam library UI update?

>30% is unsustainable
>meanwhile Valve is actually making money on sales while Sweeney and his Chinese overlords pour millions of yuan into a hole trying desperately to sponge up some of Steam's business

Attached: cavemanchibi.jpg (1280x720, 46K)

Here is the plan.
I'm going to to make a shitty game using UE, you guys shill it for me so that Tim offers me an exclusivity deal. Then he gives me the money up front and you can pirate it. Hell I can just put the direct download here.

based as always

Steamdrones will make anything up to make themselves seem right.

Their brain has been rewired from years of subpar comedy writing

>steam copied the physical distribution cut from sony and microsoft without having to deal with the psychical part
What? Sony and Microsoft take 30% from their digital shit too, physical shit is more like 40% 60% split u nigger

so for the brainlets out there like me, basically if Game X has a steam page, but they release it on epic, it has to then release on steam within 30 days or they nuke the page?
if that's the case, how are people even getting mad about this? why are they allowed to use steam's resources including support boards when they held a product hostage elsewhere?

Attached: wat.png (192x262, 5K)

haven't bothered to read up on what happened, can anyone give me the tldr on the latest?

The Chinese communists destroyed hundreds of temples and structures of belief and tradition.

Oh no, Epic is getting indies. Whatever will I do?
*continues to buy Capcom, Sega, Namco, et. al. AAA kino*

Truly sweating.

Because it means they can no longer use Steam as free advertisement and get free money from Tim for doing nothing. How unfair!

Pretty much that.

>or they nuke the page?
Or they take them to court for violating the terms of their contract

there weren't really digital distribution services before Steam. GOG had a 30% cut but I think they lowered it recently, although GOG basically walks a razor's edge of profitability.

I don't know what cut PSN, XBL, and Nintendo take, but I do know Sony and Microsoft also charge for updates.

>so for the brainlets out there like me, basically if Game X has a steam page, but they release it on epic, it has to then release on steam within 30 days or they nuke the page?
more accurately, they're entering a contract that prevents them from entering a contract that would violate the contract

They're mad because they can't
>use steam's resources including support boards
for their epic product.

indie devs can't bait/switch their games off steam like they did with metro

I mean I can't believe they had to have Gearbox implement pre-loading FOR THEM, but I guess I can have false hope.

buyouts and a culture where the "kingmakers" of indie games decide who and who isn't successful with the help of stores like epic and shill "journalism". open, competitive markets are not good for indies because they they have to compete against games with wrongthink in them.

>steam offers you literally nothing but they take a 30% cut
Wow, aren't you fucking stupid. I hope yoour kickstarter fails since you have no fucking clue about business.

Because indies can no longer start a hype machine on Steam and then dump it all if Epic comes knocking with a pile of gold.

They're probably misunderstanding and think the 30 day time window means that if you release on epic (without making a steam page) that after 30 days you can't release it on steam at all. Which isn't the case.

You're lying.

I literally don't care about developers. They put games exclusively on a launcher with less features, meaning that I as a customer have to use software I don't want to use for their sake. I wish them the worst in everything.

Attached: 1555068480741.png (694x632, 167K)

Of course nobody wants that lol are you dumb.

>not realizing what that 30% entails for you yet releasing a game
can't wait until you either come out as a larp or complain.

So if I understand correctly, steam isn't letting people advertise their games on their platform for free before release and then later declaring that it won't be sold on there even though they already benefited from the virtual real estate steam gave them?

>amount of shit games made by using unreal engine tutorial scripts and 8pixel sprites will fucking decrease by 10 folds
Yeah, what a tragedy for video games. World will stop turning to mourn such a disaster

Yes.

Yea

Reminder that setting up a steam store page is literally free. It's only when the game is finally out that you need to pay the hundred bucks valve asks.

Indie devs must be mad since they used wishlist numbers when negotiating their exclusivity deals with Epic

Correct. They can have a store page just like before. Years in advance even in theory. But if it launches on another platform they have to also have to release it on Steam within 30 days or be held accountable.

Yes, exactly. If they create a Steam page before launch, they now have to launch at the same time.

Of course, this kills Epic's sole strategy and all the indies who were hoping to get some of that gravy are butthurt.

Essentially, yes. A extremely reasonable thing for a business to ask for.

just make a good game oh

Only letting indie devs compete for customer money in a free market is evil! You must pamper them and kiss their booboos and make it all better if they don't sell ;-))))))

Attached: 1518558404377.jpg (818x798, 159K)

What about games that go early access on itch.io? Devs will be forced to put it on Steam. Or I guess Valve is just willing to turn a blind eye to itch and just hunt down EGS deals?

Looks like Epic's marketing department has a lot of work to do today. Good, because soon you'll have none.

If they already have a store page on steam, then all that happens is they are prevented from entirely delisting it.

Early Access might work differently, but again this only applies if you make a Steam page beforehand

idk how EA is affect by this since they have 2 launch dates

No one knows how rigorously Valve is gonna enforce it. But they can either just not make a Steam page, or have Steam early access at the same time. I may be missing something, but I don't see a problem.

You can release your game on a non-Steam platform and then put it on Steam afterwards.
If however you already had a store page on Steam, and then release it early access on itch.io, I guess you'd have to release it early access on Steam as well.

This is Valve mate. You can put your game out on itch early and they won't give a fuck.

This literally just exists for ammo against Epic.

>the only thing they're offering is a place on the store
haha
hahahahahah
hahahaha oh wow
hahahahahhahahahaha

Just put it on Steam right after you release it on itch.io.

I doubt you can even garner enough attention for Epic to approach your project and with this recent announcement, your chances are ever dwindling. Even though you don't have my sympathies, I wish you good luck with your endeavors since if your game is good, I can just pirate it

link to one?

finally all of these shitters will fuck off and the actually talented people who make good games and don't get affected by this will stay

You only have to release on Steam if you actually created a store page for the game on Steam.
That's what it's all concerned about.

If you were exclusive on itch or epic before even making a page on Steam then it doesn't apply to you.

Steam just don't want you to use their platform as a marketing or hype tool

>When /pol/ppet forced memes combine because they can't think of anything new

Nobody will be affected by this, they're just outrage baiting against Steam because they think

I'm not paying $20 for some piece of crap that looks like it could run on a GBA.

Attached: 1545371736312.png (600x1078, 485K)

From rumours i've heard games are still being made at Valve, they just rarely get finished. Sometimes some devs can just make a whole game at valve, and take their work to start a new studio.

It'd be nice if Valve can use their own Early Access feature to maybe motivated some of their interla teams to finish something.

everyones profile picture in this looks like they're way too fucking old to be talking about video games lmao

You mean I have to sell my shovelware on its own merits!?!

Shut the fuck up Dong Zhuo

how to fix the whole "too many games on steam":

for every 100 reviewed early access games, you get a free copy of a game of valve's choice

Look at the indie dev pulling up in his fancy Steam release..

They do, but you can only trade them for Venezuelan Bolivars

For now and only to a select few.

They cant use the steam store as an advertising page for epic to know how many people are interested in it to get an epic exclusivity contract. Most indie devs were using the store page as free ad

If you enjoy every game on Steam to have a good review with "A" written in it, sure.

They're already fixing it with the experimental search/recommendation features. Then again I love watching indie "devs" cry and moan.

I'll just pirate then

>That is... extremely hostile to indie developers
>oh but we also didn't actually want to be on the Steam Store, we just wanted the publicity of it

no, to anyone who puts his game on timmy's store

You weren't going to buy it in the first place.

In the long term it will be healthier if gamedevs can separate themselves from relying on Steam statistics and real estate for doing marketing and research.

technology killed physical PC copies, not steam you dumb shits

Reddit downvotes conservative/right-wing viewpoints too, even though they are correct. What's your point?

you could say they're being entitled

But not anyone gets to be on Timmy's store.

god bless valve and god bless gabe

>use steam forums to talk to potential customers instead of the (nonexistent) EGS forums

fuck off

whats the drama

That is YOUR problem. Just because you want to feel special and think that your game deserves more time in the light doesn't mean that other developers aren't entitled to the same thing, porn game or not.

what? no, valve sucks ass, but at least they're better than those indie devs

But seriously, you are no longer allowed to make a steam store page for a game without actually intending to sell it on Steam.
