Getting the timing down to bat the spinning rods away was my Achilles Heel. I could handle the chains and being pulled in, but those spinning rods were fucking retarded. If the came at you just a hair slower the fight would be more balanced but still challenging. Took me maybe 5-10 tries which was easily twice, if not three times, the amount of tries to beat any other boss.

You can damage them a bit when they're just floating too. Once you have one down in melee range the boss is cake.
