I never understood the comparisons to Cloud on release outside of being an EX SOLDIER when at least in the dub she was being a female Squall, least Squall was introvertedly bitchy, Lightning was the obnoxious movie lesbian kind. Better in Lightning Returns though much like everything in the XIII trilogy after the 1st one.

You think THAT was the issue? You have got to be the biggest mongoloid around. FFXIII was a great game that was stuck behind the worst first 20 hours of any game I've ever played.

To get to the good stuff, the game that was worth playing, you had to spend a whole lot of time with a very rigid, very tedious and obnoxious prologue where the lead was a total cunt, the stages were unpleasant and the pacing was utterly extraneous. After that first 20 hour section you realize the lead isn't a bitch, she's mourning for her sister, the story becomes intriguing, the stages become better balanced, the world becomes more fascinating and it's totally worth it, but 20 hours of shit game is too much and it's not wonder that people couldn't get through it.

it's too bad since both sequels are probably some of the best FF games we've gotten since 9, at least in that particular flavor of FF, but since the brand was burned thanks to the first game we ended up getting the shitshow that's XV instead
