Biggest disappointment on the Switch by far. Only made it through a few act 2s of some of the characters before I was like yep, I'm done. Really sucks because it offers glimpses of what could have made this game great and the style/artwork is nice to look at. Sadly the combat is boring and I had absolutely zero investment in any of the characters or their stories. I had just come off playing Xenoblade 2. Now that's a fucking game.

I see complaints about this all the time, and was about to tell you you should have planned better. However, it's really the game's fault, it's open ended to the point it doesn't require anything from you until very late in the game, and can seem boring if you don't pace yourself about what it offers (secondary missions and exploration with the main ones).

For DS it's way uncomfortable, and borderline unplayable if it requires the touch-screen and is faster than Ghost Trick. 3DS emulation didn't take off for quite a while because it was easier, faster and more reliable to just install CFW onto a 2DS if you needed a budget option, but the only game I can think of that's totally unplayable without the touch-screen is Kid Icarus.

Over 2 now, but I've only ever cared about 3ds emulation for mh. Will be checking that shit out.

Comfy game, I played on launch on Switch. I regret not doing the final endboss but as described in the threads here it was super frustrating, taking hours and requiring a restart if you died (I knew that feeling from the regular bosses).

Hopeing for a sequel that keep the combat system the same but with a new setting/characters and more variability in the quests.

Not exactly true. It still forces you onto linear, story driven and shallow pieces for each of its eight stories between its bouts of secondary missions and free roaming. For a game based on gameplay, its dungeon design is unforgivably shallow, also, and it doesn't totally push you to act on the limits of the system until the very last (optional) bosses. The implementation of its ideas is very uneven, also. I'll admit it does more than most JRPGs to use its mechanics, but it's not exactly a good game, just a promising one.

Therion opens a special kind of chest that is in most dungeons. If you don't have Therion all the fucking time you'll eventually find it, and you'll have to backtrack all the way to not miss its contents.

The thing is that the kind of developments OT is doing baby steps towards have already been mastered in other places, like SaGa or Suikoden. Many times in OT I was just thinking why they didn't just take hints from those series. I'm glad that it shows some immaturity and obvious place to grow, but most of its mistakes are so so basic it hurts.

You can only open them if you have Therion in your party, so you either have to keep him as one of the other slots in your party at all times, or you can't open it until you go back at a later date with Therion in your party

You don't even need it at Grandport, you just find the thieving tricks lady hiding in the house. Only place I had an issue was for Therion's chapter 4 where even with the tricks I only had a 15% of success
