Despite what Yea Forums says, i like open world games.
What are the best open world games currently available on ANY platform?
Hardmode: no bethesda bullshit.

BotW

BotW on PC.

I think it's a bit overrated. A lot of the assets are really not great at higher resolution and the framerate doesn't scale well

Skip anything made by Ubisoft. Thank me later.

Just Cause 2. Red Dead redemption series. Minecraft, Stalker, Fallout 1 - 2. are all solid picks.

RDR2

Skate 2 + 3

Oh no it's that obsessed RDR loser again.
Go on post the other images of random Japanese directors mentioning RDR to get it out of your system before you have a seizure.

not on any platform as op specified

but it is indeed the best

I would suggest nothing by Ubishit, with the large exception of Black Flag

rdr2 if you're over 18

Far Cry 5

>Fallout 1 - 2.
i said no bethesda shit

Listen if you're gonna bait me put some effort in. Im not some cheap whore who'll go out for chump change.

seethe harder todd

ive been playing spiderman ps4 after avoiding it because i thought it would suck, it's actually really fun for an open world beatemup

Euro truck simulator 2

>seethe harder todd
Who are you quoting

Bethesda bought the rights for Fallout and started producing games from 3 onward. 1 and 2 is a different company.

whats so good about black flag?
never played it cos ships in AC seems dumb

RDR2. Will also be on PC soon

Attached: PC.jpg (1920x1080, 1.22M)

cope

Are you really this mad that other devs ignored BotW and has had no impact on the industry?

After playing BotW everything else just feels like ass.
I guess AC4 was also alright.

Attached: 68971873.png (300x309, 13K)

The Ezio games are decent and I recently played syndicate and it's pretty comfy to walk around in 19th century London.

AC Brotherhood is gud shit.

Also Origins and Odyssey are on par with Black Flag, provided you don't get all /pol/tistic about "feminisms destroyin' mah machismolinity"

>Despite what Yea Forums says, i like open world games.
Did Yea Forums say you didn't like open world games? Christ in heaven, the inability to convey words properly on the internet has fucking plunged.

Horizon Zero Dawn

Odyssey, witcher 3, fallout NV

Guess I struck a nerve huh.

Console fags denying it's going to be released on pc while it's literally free money.

>and the framerate doesn't scale well
it runs at a solid 60fps on middle hardware. even if you can't run that, it runs at a solid 30 on pc too. wii u and switch can't sit at 30 for 12 seconds.

You don't fit in.

I found syndicate to be kinda bland as compared to other AC titles. Like biting into undecorated store bought sponge cake.

nigger you high, it's gorgeous if you know what you're doing

Attached: CEMU Screenshot 2018.06.07 - 06.09.12.11.png (1920x1080, 3.91M)

Xenoblade Chronicles X

imagine being this much a brainlet

Good open-world Ubisoft games:

AC1, 2, B, U, 3, 4
Far Cry 3,4,5
Watch Dogs 2

Other than the challenge of fighting 3 legendary ships, theres nothing in black flag that makes it good. Shipping is overly simplified, overly limited and uncreatively structured in terms of progress. Feels tacked on, much like the whole looting, which doesn't have a purpose other than to make you chase the carrot to pad out the content. Other than that its standart AC game, with bootleg pirates of the caribbean characters. Highly overrated, but still better than the rest of AC tripe, with the exception of 2.

>if you know what you're doing
You sure you know what you're doing? That looks just as gross and acid bleached as the vanilla version.

gamesindustry.biz/articles/2017-06-05-how-will-the-legend-of-zelda-breath-of-the-wild-change-the-open-world-paradigm

The actual game is. Not to mention the sjw bs but walking around on a rainy night definitely is comfy.

GTA Vice City

Looks like someones first unity project to be honest. The trees are particularly poorly made and lack texture diversity. Reminds me of slender man forest.

I also forgot the best of the best. GTA San Andreas.

>hurr durr why does a forest look green

Attached: CEMU Screenshot 2018.06.07 - 07.21.49.24.png (1920x1080, 3.21M)

Post your work user. If this was how your first project turned out I'm sure you have a very good looking portfolio by now.

No clue how you can play any other open world game after rdr2

Witcher 2 and 3
RDR 1 and 2
Spider-Man
Batman Arkham City/Knight
LA Noire
AC Ezio Trilogy + Origins
Far Cry 4
Sleeping Dogs

XCX

The colors are all in big chunks, and the models are simplistic. It shows good optimization for low resolution, but you should give up when it comes to arguing just how far this game can be taken, since rendering it higher can't provide detail that isn't there.

What? I said nothing about a forest. You a loon or something?

The vanilla version needed to have its gamma way up because the game was designed to be played comfortably in handheld mode and it makes shit easier to see with a low backlight. There's no reason to keep it looking exactly the same on your pc's monitor. You did nothing but up the resolution anhd kept everything looking sickly and gross.

>LA Noire
Was there anything to do in the open world map? I only remember driving from point A to B.

What now tough guy? It was the first i ever made so its rather old. You can tell because of the tasteless bloom from the year 2006 that no sane designer would ever use in this day and age unless they'd be hiding how shit the work they've done.

>The vanilla version needed to have its gamma way up because the game was designed to be played comfortably in handheld mode and it makes shit easier to see with a low backlight.
this is false, since it was originally a wii u game designed to be played primarily on a TV. Also, I actually did tweak the shaders, but only slightly as I didn't want to crush the blacks and shadows like most people do when they use the shaderpack defaults

There are plenty of guides on how to use the right packs to make the game look nice.

Attached: 2244183b.png (1920x804, 2.07M)

Horizon Zero Dawn shocked me by how good it was.

Red Dead redemption 2 is a must

Fallout series is something else

Oh and No Mans Sky. I know people talk shit but I love that game. They have improved it and are still improving it

Attached: 1519861032158.jpg (247x204, 9K)

There were a few side missions around LA you could do. I just really liked driving around 40s LA.

but in CEMU you can force the LoD scaling to increase in quality
I don't like how that looks, it's too saturated and dark

that's not bloom, those are crepuscular rays user.

you like stupid things.

Horizon just got comfy autumn time

Attached: 2019-09-08 (2).jpg (3840x2160, 2.04M)

2 and Brotherhood are great though, and I actually enjoyed Origins a lot despite how much people shit on it

Durrrr

Attached: dumbidiot.jpg (615x290, 53K)

>Watch Dogs 2
I will never play this shit.
Main character walks and runs like a little girl who just pissed her pants.
How can you stand this anons?

So if what I like is stupid, tell us your list of faves genius...

>force the LoD scaling
I've found that leads to unpleasant aliasing. It also isn't going to make blocky tree trunks not blocky.
Also the art direction as a whole has a lot of solid colors that don't look a whole lot better at higher resolution. It is nice, but I don't think it's even the best way to play the game.

your selfies belong on user

>unpleasant aliasing
then render the game at a higher resolution than your display? That's what I do, result is a very clean image with minimal jaggies.

Kenshi has of one my favorite open worlds. It's massive and it has these surreal landscapes.

Ark is another favorite of mine. If you play single player you can explore everything at your own pace. Getting your first flier is amazing. It's kinda like that open world pokemon game that everyone wants.

Attached: 346110_screenshots_20180626011411_1.jpg (1920x1080, 703K)

CEMU's integrated downscaling methods aren't good for that, so you have to override it in Windows. That's also not ideal, though the least aliased.
And that still doesn't make a game that was optimised for 720p feel like it's all that different. There's something more to being able to sit down on the switch and have controls that work well and not have to put up with shader compilation all the time

Attached: Cemu 2017-11-02 06-58-05-05.jpg (1920x1080, 520K)

Attached: Cemu 2017-11-03 02-59-50-76.jpg (1920x1080, 606K)

dude I have a wii u, switch, and PC. Shader compiling only has to be done once after you've downloaded a full shader cache. Also, what are talking about that the integrated downscaling methods aren't good? you can customise it with plugins.

There is not really any ideal downsampling method. Cemu's integrated downscaling options don't antialias well, and external handling I have found to be unreliable.

>Cemu's integrated downscaling options don't antialias well
are you sure? looks pretty clean to me

He said the best, not the worst.

are you high bro

DEAD RED AND SOLID GEAR

Attached: EDxdcpaXUAAx4Ud.jpg (3840x2160, 485K)

I won't get nitpicky with small details, but I've run into artifacts in motion that shouldn't be there if you used proper downsampling on the GPU side

>Fallout series is something else
I hope you're not including 4 in that
>Oh and No Mans Sky
and opinion completely discarded. you're a retard with terrible taste

If anything, Bethesda's Open world is the only proper open world. I just would like Morrowind-Oblivion-Skyrim with Witcher 3 graphics. Yes 4 years old game's graphics would suffice to make them look beautiful.

I haven't experienced anything like that, are you sure it's not due to something else you're doing?

Breath Of The Wild.
STALKER trilogy.

/end.

Attached: EVENING (dim).png (1920x1200, 3.41M)

maybe emulation's just full of jank that you've deluded yourself into ignoring

>Witcher 3 graphics.
Witcher 3 looks god-awful.
I know some 15+ yo games with visually more appealing art-directing.

I heard that there used to be a bug in the non-Bilinear / Nearest scalers of CEMU, that was just recently fixed. Can't comment on that, as I've only played on Bi or Nearest, and they work gr8.

>STALKER trilogy.
*Anomaly

or your claims are unsubstantiated bullcrap, also fwiw I don't consider CEMU the optimal way to play the game, but it is a valid option with clear benefits over playing on official hardware

Kys, zoomer secondary.
Anything based on CoC, and anything that's merely freeroam sandboxxan' is utter garbage compared to real STALKER games.

im not that user, but we've all emulated before

in that case that's a weird point to enter the conversation whilst you ignored the context completely.

>muh story
Cringe, my dude.

no, I know exactly the context. You aren't smart for installing an emulator

no such thing as an open world game just big map games

Minecraft.

gb2/play Minecraft, zoom zoom.

>all this shit taste + a pepe picture thats not even 2 years old
kys unironically

Syndicate feels like the filler episode of the AC series. The modern day gets advanced a bit but all the stuff Evie and Jacob do feels inconsequential compared to the usual affair. Despite taking out the Templar presence in London it constantly feels like they barely did anything because your enemies don't feel as involved.

actual retard
