>"omg this boss is so hard i've been trying to kill him for 60 hours and i can't i just can't wtf noooo fromsoft there's a difference between hard and bullshit pls nerf"
>fight him
>kill him on first try
>continue killing him on first try every run
What the fuck is wrong with casuals' brains that they can't grasp this boss? How did they even make it to him in the first place?
"omg this boss is so hard i've been trying to kill him for 60 hours and i can't i just can't wtf noooo fromsoft there's...

You're giving ledditors too much credit. They cheesed their way through the entire game and that's plainly evidenced by 26% killing Demon who can be cheesed off the cliff, while 17% killed Father who can't be cheesed. It makes me wonder why they even bother playing these games in the first place.
A ton of people got filtered by the fucking ogre. That should tell you something about how brain dead they are. The problem is that casuls play these games because they're trendy now. They don't actually enjoy them.
>looking up guides and streams before trying
>haha bros it was so ez, 1st try lmao
You should have recorded yourself beating SS Isshin first try. No one will believe you, I know I don't, and I'm not even one of them folk who cry about how impossibly hard Sekiro is. But either Isshin on the first try is very hard to take on word alone.
I never saw any gameplay of him. Genichiro is a joke with literally one (1) new move. Isshin phase 1 has a handful of extremely telegraphed moves. The only thing that caught me off guard was his really quick perilous thrust but that was it. In phase 2 he's slow as shit and spams perilous attacks so you posture break him pretty fast, 3 he's even easier because he spams lightning.
Owl2 is probably the most fun fight in the game, but now im stuck on Demon of Hate. Anyone got some Tips?
Ah yes, the good old "game is supposed to be hard but I'm so good" argument that accompanies every game by From Software.
humblebrag
Stay close and whack his balls. He's more of a mechanical/endurance fight than anything. All of his moves are avoidable once you understand them, you don't even have to use the umbrella at all. Some moves give you 6-10 hit windows depending on if you stagger him or not. Also the slam for example can be countered by sprinting away, jumping, and grappling onto him. His charge will go right through you as long as you're in the air. Phase 3 run away so you don't get stuck in the circle.
I never believe it when people say they one shot him.
I don't get why people say he's hard either. Can someone please explain what exactly is so hard about him? I had more trouble figuring out Owl's moveset than him.
...
Fromsoft games aren't hard. Nobody ever said they were hard until casual players found them and started memeing that they were, which brought even more intrigued casual players in who also memed that they were so so so hard, which made them hip and trendy to play and meme about its "difficulty".
tbf I didn't even find father on my first playthrough
Wait for him to attack then move in an get some hits in. Repeat.
Fireproof umbrella is good for blocking his more annoying attacks. Malcontent can be used to stun him for a few seconds but only works 3 times, save it for the final stage.
You have been playing autistic souls games for years. Good for you.
I found the fire version of him in the alternate ending to be worse than this lightning shithead.
>dude I beat this boss fast I'm so good
congrats faggot, meanwhile a scrubLORD like me got to savor the bossfight for 2 hours and feel contentment when beating him, while you probably were less engrossed than during your third daily fap to geriatric futa scat
He IS hard. Just not bullshit hard -- just fun hard. Once you've memorized his moves he becomes trivial, but that can be applied to any boss in videogames. I died at the very least 10 times.
You cheated yourself the ultimate satisfaction of beating something you lost to
i never understood this "dude, it took me like 5 days to beat this boss" meme in the soulsborne games. how can any soulsborne boss take more than a few minutes to learn? Do people just go all in and act surprised when the boss hits back or are they just to stupid to memorize their movesets?
What's your strategy for beating him?
>genichiro
run behind him and mash attack while he's mortal drawing, then feed off his floating passage, try to avoid the weird stunning uppercut -> stab combo because it doesn't obey normal mikiri counter rules
>sword isshin
run to the side when he does the shockwave, run away when he does ashina cross because it's not worth parrying, grind posture damage on that lazy combo he does, try to bait him into the perilous stab
>phase 3/4
just go aggro on him, he does so many thrust attacks his posture vanishes into thin air quickly, same with lightning attacks
they really should have unlocked his spear for you as a main weapon in ng+
How do I enjoy games like these Yea Forumsros? I've never tried one, but from what I've seen it basically seems like the entire gameplay consists of just memorizing every enemy attack. They don't really telegraph their moves realistically so if you don't know what their attack already looks like you won't be able to do anything.
Shura Isshin is definitely worse, mainly because you're stuck in that tiny ass arena.
>easy-to-find optional boss has been beaten more than difficult-to-find optional boss
>those fucking redditors and their boss cheeses!
It's not that difficult to play passively in this game and learn their patterns, because aside from perilous attacks a failed parry translates into a block that doesn't cause you to take damage
I killed him without getting dragon rot, but I wouldn't call him easy. He has a huge move set that is likely to kill you several times before you memorise it all. The worst thing about the fight is having to deal with genichiro every single time, I never died to him, I just hated it because of how tedious it was.
just stay close to him and he's a cakewalk. his moves are rather predictable and easily deflected. only thing you should be aware of is to not lock yourself into a combo as his charge has next to no wind up time. when he enters third phase run away to avoid the circle
I mean I don't think he was that hard but I doubt you one shotted him. He was definitely more difficult than anything in Soulsborne. His moves are easy to pick up after a couple tries though.
>genichiro
evade mortal slash and parry the rest. he kills himself on you just like the centipede dudes
>sword isshin 1/2/3
aggro 100%, never keep your distance and he will do the same moves over and over again. his third phase is his easiest one because the lightning reversal is broken. also, when he does that giant sweep on his second phase, jump on his head instead of parrying and you get free hits. im currently playing on ng+ on charmless and if you haven't done that yet, i recommend it. you'll be parrying like a god in no time because the game does not forgive you for blocking anymore
>Genichiro is the worst
No wonder why Isshen liked wolf
>a failed parry translates into a block that doesn't cause you to take damage
This honestly sold me pretty good. I might bother to check it out now.
The trick with Genichiro is to immediately run behind him and his opening attack will miss you. Then you can basically just spam him to death with only one or two more deflects. By the time I beat Ishin I was getting through Genichiro in 10-15 seconds without taking damage depending on if I used the attack buff or not.
i agree Isshin fire man is harder than sword saint
Can anyone explain how he crawled from his son's severed neck? Was he hiding in there all along? Why did sitting inside Genichiro turn him evil?
>Demon cheesed off the cliff
>Just saw video
WTF, this has been patched right? Such a dishonorable way to beat the poor bastard.
OH
there was a second mortal blade with the power to return people from death, I don't remember if they were bound to obey or if isshin just felt like he was obliged due to genis sacrifice and the absolute state of ashina, but it's pretty obvious he doesn't really have it out for you
Putting two completely different bosses into the same boss fight is terrible design. It was terrible when they did it with Ludwig, but memeing retards made them believe that it was good, so they filled Sekiro with it. I just hate it. Gwyn is the best boss and he had no phases at all.
it's genchiro 2.0, you grasp that fight you win this boss.
the demon of hatred was the impossible one for me because I hate dark souls bosses.
No, it's still in the game and will likely remain that way forever.
The black mortal blade's name is "Open Gate" and apparently can open a portal to the underworld or some shit. It seems that Isshin was more of a puppet during that fight, not turned evil.
Agreed. Sekiro's combat design is like heaven and hell compared to Dark Souls. Finally you're behaving like a real swordsman and not doing any ridiculous bullshit like rolling around in armour (as long as you accept blocking bullets with a sword)
>not using ichimonji on Genichiro everytime he does something stupid like drawing the mortal blade or jumping
>tfw you start up DS3 since you squeezed sekiro for all you can and the game is fucking unplayable
>(as long as you accept blocking bullets with a sword)
you can do that actually, if you had superhuman reflexes or prediction powers
swords can take bullets, humans aren't fast enough
Try playing DS1 now. Sekiro is to 3 what 3 is to 1.
>elden ring is another dark souls
I hope they will be able to merge the two together. And not in bloodborne way.
Use the suzaku umbrella to guard when he jumps on you and against his fireballs when you are approaching. Hug him, he's scary when he's far away.
or play Nioh and Surge right after sekiro like I did, those games clicked for me after sekiro for some reason, I like them very much now. It's like sekiro was a tutorial for those games combat.
Imagine being so autistic and devoid of human contact that you care how others are having fun.
Hard seconding this
His mid-range fireball is legitimately his most threatening move, so you need to have Suzaku on hand for it
Otherwise, just hug his giant balls
I don't think you necessarily have to make the game much faster than dark souls to maintain the high quality of sekiro, but you have to severely up the complexity of the combat.
as long as you're quick and chase him the fireball is just an opportunity to smack his ballsack around, the phase 2 fire shockwave is the actual most dangerous move
Using the umbrella on it is a waste. Sprint away then jump and grapple onto him to completely avoid it.
I unironically found the Demon harder than Father. You just have to avoid his fire arm side and move when he does that autism rush, otherwise you die instantly. Also have a fire gourd with you and fire umbrella just in case. It was the only bloodborne tier fight in the game.
I see it as him desperately looking for someone who can understand his feelings.
How did Isshin not become Shura?
sekiro combat isn't even complex, it just feels very nice to play
they need to make it feels nice without making it all about parry mechanic or overly abusive use of dodges, somewhere in between, that's why I say merge the two
Dark Souls 1 had fun and powerful magic, it's the saving grace of the game.
He seemed pretty fucking close in the Bad End
Or maybe he just always had fire magic
why would he? you understand what shura is right?
I thought it wasn't magic, it's just he swings sword so fast it lights things on fire.
I thought Shura was when you constantly want to fight and kill?
I got dragonrot on him twice because I didn't realise that you could avoid the charge.
m8, the whole room was on fire and he was summoning flame pillars
I disagree, using the umbrella is much better in several ways. It gives you more time to whack at him when he lands. You're under no risk whatsoever of taking damage. The first hit after folding the umbrella does severe additional damage to him.
Sekiro becomes the shura. Isshin is using a fan to redirect his fire at him.
Does it? I tried using it at first but never really paid attention to how much damage I was doing. I only use it for his firebawlz now.
>father can't be cheesed
Every boss can be cheesed. A true shinobi knows the difference between honor and victory.
Genichiro sacrificed himself to birth an avatar of Isshin in his prime using the second mortal blade. It's not the real Isshin as he can be seen on the verge of death with Emma
it definitely is more complex
prosthetics and items and spells aside, here's the basic combat options of the game you have to think about:
souls:
>roll
>stay out of range
>block
>parry
>endurance regen
>hit with weapon, r1 or r2 or roll or sprint
sekiro:
>block normal hits
>parry normal hits
>jump the sweep, away like a coward or towards them for the combo
>stay out of range
>dash for iframes
>mikiri counter or parry stabs
>hold to regen posture
>occasionally the boss presents a grapple point for you to latch onto
>occasionally you have to lightning reversal
>r1 combo or r1 stab
>combat arts, both slotted and nonslotted (like chasing slice)
of course it's just an approximation and I might be too generous for sekiro or not enough for souls, but then also keep in mind sekiro has a faster pace so your mental processing is stressed even more
It is the real isshin, at least it has his soul. If he was just a time capsule from his prime he wouldn't know to call you sekiro
pretty sure that's the real isshin since genichiro's mortal blade can open a gate to the afterlife
I think there might be a skill involved, but it 100% does
Shura ending Isshin's casual sidestep is the most badass thing in the game
ogre fighting like a wwe wrestler was pretty cool though
Let me guess, you watched a stream first?
Cheesing Father like this is much harder than the actual fight, because this move is an instakill and very difficult to dodge.
That's not a cheese, that's a strategy. There's still plenty of risk involved in that.
A cheese implies that you have 0 risk throughout the entire thing. If you make a mistake in that webm you posted, you're still going to get fucked.
Why does he call you Sekiroyo (or something like that)? I don't speak nip. What does that extra syllable mean?
this seems way harder than fighting him normally though
You don't have to do the thrust attack. I like using the whirlwind slash.
It's an ego thing. I'm convinced, as I see this a ton with "pro youtube gamers", as well as people I've met irl. If something is too hard for them, they'll blame literally everything else before they accept they just aren't good enough
>The game is bugged
>The game is poorly designed
>The game doesn't have "counterplay" (I hear this one occasionally and it never makes any sense because they don't even know what counterplay means)
The point of most difficult games is to learn from your shortcomings and overcome the challenge. But if can't accept that they have those shortcomings in the first place they won't improve, hence they'll get stuck for hours on end
The actual dodging through his swing is incredibly difficult and it's probably the most damaging attack in the entire game. I don't recommend attempting this strategy.
>I hear this one occasionally and it never makes any sense because they don't even know what counterplay means
What does it mean? It's the first time I've read this word. Is this some journo's brainfart?
I don't speak nip either but Kuro also calls you Okamiyo. Can any weebs confirm this is just a language thing?
Based CHADrunner
>It's the first time I've read this word
really nigga?
It's a language thing. To dumb it (way) down, when -yo is at the end of a name it's kind of like "listen up".
It's not just Isshin. If you look at the leddit sub people call bullshit on everything from the bull to butterfly to monkey to owl. People are just trash at the game and get mad because it hurts their ego, so instead of trying to improve they bitch about things being unfair.
Yes.
>people call bullshit on everything from the bull to butterfly to monkey to owl
Is this a souls game or a zoo manager?
>Every boss can be cheesed. A true shinobi knows the difference between honor and victory.
This user understood the true meaning behind the game. There is a reason why certain strategies and tools work almost too well against certain foes. You're supposed to figure out their weakness and exploit it.
Some strats are cheesier than others, of course, but they are all valid.
I beat Isshin 1st try blindfolded, imagine being such a play doh-ass faggot that you actually need to sea the game. Do you need mommy to change your diapers too? Kill yourselves, kek.
>Bull
How the fuck do people struggle with that boss? You just hit him a bunch and run away. The firecrackers also completely fuck him up as if you need more help. And didn't they nerf his health anyway? Christ
Based youtube commenter
It's an extremely un-Sekiro boss.
Plus many people don't have the firecracker when facing it.
You can deflect him too.
It's a simple vocative.
>inb4 what's a vohkateeve
what's a vohkateeve
do you think they'll make sekiro 2
But Isshin never allied himself with Genichiro. That's why I think it's just an avatar. But I'm gonna play devil's advocate here and say that between the time you See Isshin dying and fight Genichiro he already kicks the bucket and has his soul bound by the wish regardless of his own feelings
There's potential for a sequel unlike Bloodborne.
But they didn't even make a DLC.
Make him go off the cliff
What a fun fight though. I kill myself every time before doing the final deathblow just to fight him again.
the entire game is easy if you stop being so fucking greedy with hits
tryhard poser
Being greedy with hits is literally not a problem in Sekiro - enemies will just start deflecting to signal that it's time to stop attacking. Attack recognition and reflexes are what matters.
It's not an avatar. Genichiro essentially ripped his spirit out of the afterlife with the black mortal blade. You can tell during the fight he's not verbally hostile towards you and it seems as if he's being controlled. Then when Sekiro kills him he cuts his throat as opposed to beheading him because decapitation was seen as dishonorable, while a precise throat cut like that isn't.
isshin ashina is fun to say
Yeah I agree OP, didn't kill him first try but he wasn't nearly as bad as they said he was. I actually had much more trouble fighting Genichiro because at that point, you're still learning the game.
>Demon goes crazy when he hears the whistle because it belonged to his old friend
FUCK CHARMLESS DOUBLE MONKEY BOSS
THATFUCKING BROWN GORILLA KEEPS ONESHOTTING ME
The fight is the reward itself. Forget about beating the boss. Instead, dive yourself into the combat. Find the joy of it.
Honestly, I have only ever memorised the attacks of the hardest enemies because I had to fight them many times. You're 100% fine if you just improvise as you go, particularly in Sekiro:
1. It's focused on blocking as opposed to avoiding damage, which is much easier;
2. It has resurrection mechanics in case you fuck up or get a shitty combo from the AI.
>still no DLC
it hurts bros
Orangután (male) and Orangután (female) for you.
youtu.be
The only boss fight that still makes me rage. it's even worse than demon of hatred
Literally spam firecrackers as soon as she drops and you'll kill her in 5 seconds
Usually dlc in from games is about characters that were mentioned in the main game that we never saw. What will Sekiros be about?
never
Tomoe, but it won't happen. It would have happened already.
fingers crossed for tomoe
Why do people want this fight for the third time?
Beat him second try. Felt good. Lightning reversals are OP as shit.
yeah but every direct hit kills and blocking still damages me and dicks my posture instantly
Why didn't you fight minibosses?
>fight
i've never played dark souls or bloodborne
i just wanna see her in action
Oh my God, OP is the greatest.
Friede was such a K.I.N.O. boss, holy shit. Pity about the shitty game she had to appear in.
i did, but blocking on charmless is useless
if you wanna get anywhere you better start deflecting everything
I haven't blocked or deflected the alive monkey once, I didn't even know it was possible to deflect. You just need to avoid the attacks and throw firecrackers. It should just take two to kill it.
To be honest, I also didn't try to deflect the headless monkey when I met it for the first time, and tried to fight it like a bloodborne boss. It killed me many times.
Lads.... I couldn't beat Demon of Hatred. I cheesed him.
But I beat Owl 1 and 2 and Sword Saint Ishin so it's okay right?
Really? Well here's something that'll blow your mind then... you can even perfect deflect perilous thrusts.
If you're retarded and didn't get mikiri counter, be my guest
I just don't understand. It's an optional boss. You could have just skipped him if you didn't want to fight him.
The game literally tells you the blade returns one from the dead in their prime. He literally calls Gen a fool but respects his wishes. I fucking hate explaining shit to you retards like how Corrupted Monk is a woman.
I dunno lol.
>people complain about ogre, ape, and sword saint
Makes you think.
Okay, what would you complain about?
Yes. Demon is a retarded fight that throws the mechanics you used and learned out the door.
most people complain about Demon
And it's a shitty boss that just needs patience and literal grind.
It felt like felling a tree just to die to some bullshit on phase 3
Nothing. Game was easy.
I didn't learn you could avoid the charge by jumping until well after the fight. I hated it really badly.
Oh sorry, I didn't realise I was talking to the game god here.
>In phase 2 he's slow as shit
Actually he's extremely fast and relentless and his combos can go on for like 8 or 9 hits of heavy posture damage. If you try to run around, he teleport-dashes up to your back and slices you.
If you actually did beat him first try without guides, then you got incredibly lucky and I'd unironically bet you $100 that you couldn't beat him again in one go right now
at the beginning
all the later bosses mostly stop deflecting and punish you for continuing your combo
on ng+3 charmless and this bitch is much harder than the saint
>Find out you can parry him as well
>Bull suddenly is fun
Drop your steam and I'll stream it at some point then faggot.
>looks up gameplay
>it's with Kuro's charm
that fucking combo is what was wrecking me for the longest time on charmless bell. i learned to run away when he started up, got more manageable.
This is wrong. Even Isshin won't instantly switch to attacking without a windup or a retreat.
Literally a rhythm game.
Shitty luck, if only he had a tiny bit less posture damage at the beginning, he would have fucked up Isshin with mikiri counter.
There is a boss rush mod, you can re-fight him right now and see if he's as easy as you think he is or if you just got lucky
nexusmods.com
it's the posture damage. She does so much. You cannot miss a single parry
or you can eat up on sugar and use the umbrella
i killed her hitting the bitch with the mortal blade in between attacks
not him but i wanna see it too
steamcommunity.com
don't be a retard, it's not going to happen
Those animations are beautiful
From was known for excellent animation even back when they made budget games
