You're not a kinder-gardener anymore.

That one open slot is annoying me

Never played Pokken but the choice is obvious.

Attached: Empoleon.png (1280x1280, 770K)

I wish Bamco would just rip out this combat and give it to a Tales of fighting game

Christ, why are you doing this

no please OP I was just about to sleep, and I'm one of only like 3 people on this fucking website who actually plays pokken at mid/high level play to be able to correct misinfoirmation

fuck it just gonna pre-emptively get shit out of the way

>Muh casual arena fighter
Pokken's got unique movelists with unique inputs per character, cancels, just-frames, an attack height system, etc. It's a legit fighitng game and isn't an arena fighter much at all

>the game's shit because of the 2d/3d shift sysytem
The shifts causes returns to neutral a lot more often then the game would otherwise have, and it also does a lot to reward and encourage adaption: Since shifts are caused by enough shift points being racked up, and different moves have different shift point values, you are encouraged to change up which moves you use and your combo composition in response to the current state of the match or the matchup. For example, perhaps you are at dangerously low health, but almost have full meter, and you have to choose between using a higher damage combo that would KEEP you in the 2d phase, and pone that does less damage, but would cause a faster shift, and since shifts give you meter, and burst gives you health regen, you can do the lower damage combo to cause a shift to give you the meter to go in burst, etc

>Muh shit roster
beyond the shillmons (pika, lucario, zard, and mewtwo), you have a bunch of popular pokemon (gardevoir, garchomp, blaziken, gengar, blastoise), more niche fan-favorites (sceptile, weavile, scizor, chandelure, aegislash, machamp), the two most popuilar, feasible non-mewtwo legendaries aside from deoxys (suicuine and darkrai), the obligatory powered up dark mode character (shadow mewtwo), the obligatory joke character (croagunk), furfag inclusion (braixen) etc. Only questionahble ones are libre, and empoleon. Plus nearly every type is represented

he's bottom tier user, sorry. one of only 3-4 characters in game that's unviable in high level play.

>1567943273054.webm
you sick fuck

I main Braixen. Why do we have to wait for a sequel for Hoshino to finally add his waifu into the game?

also real quick, pic related is a short explanation of how all the characters play, though it was made before blastoise and aegislash

Aegislash has a form change that changes his entire moveset. The form itself has one hit of armor, and if hit, it inflicts a huge amount of hitstun on the enemy & transforms him back into the other form. He can transition into this armor form out of I think all of his specials, and some of his normal. You can cancel the defense form back into the attack form, and when you do that you either give yourself and attack or speed buff. When you have an attack or speed buff active, a ton of your move get just frame strings. You can also cancel the form change midway through the animation.

Also, he has a parry, and he can lay traps down that can trigger when you switch forms. His midair special also does more or less damage depending on the buffs or debuffs on the other player. Also, if you swittch from defense to attack form I think 8 times in a single match (or round, I forget which) all of your move's damage values change.

Blastoise is a lot more vanilla and just sort of sucks.

On that note, the tier list i'd say is

>Top tier:
Aegislash, Lucario, Mewtwo, Decidueye

>High Tier
Libre, Braixen, Sceptile, Garchomp, Chandelure

>Mid tier
Weavile, Machamp, Shadow Mewtwo, Pikachu, Scizor, Darkrai

>Low tier
Gengar, Charizard, Suicuine, Gardevoir, Blaziken

>Bottom tier
Croagunk, Empoleon, Blastoise.

This is pretty close to the consensus, as well, though some people might drop garchomp and chandelure to mid, move gengar up to mid (the JP scene thinks he's high), darkrai/scizor down to low, or blaziken down to bottom, etc. Only the Bottom tier and maybe blaziken are really unviable in high level play, even suicuine and garrdevoir make top 8 placements with decent frequiency; and even empoleon got pulled out as a counterpick in grand finals last year

Based A-rank Weavile main!

I choose Braixen.

I'll go with Croagunk. You can never go wrong with Croagunk.

That even assumes there will BE a sequel. Besides, why would he let his waifu get beat up?

>Empoleon is bottom tier
>but Aegislash is top tier
Fair enough. Is the game very expensive nowadays?

I used to play as Blaziken. He's kinda shit.

She'd be top-tier, obviously.

>Blastoise is bottom tier
Well, fuck this game then

Lemme get uhhhhhhh....

>M U D K I P

Thank you user, you probably wont hear this a lot on here but im genuinely interested in the game now that you explained it like this, will probably play the demo now. If you're a shill you should ask for a raise cause you're doing a good job man

braixen porn

Then everyone else would pick her and he'd have to share his waifu with every smelly tourneyfag out there.

I'm also bitter because my waifu is in the game but apparently she's low tier. How is that fair?

Croagunk-Machamp-Pikachu was what I remember using and I'm inclined to agree with my old self
fuck i wish this game was better and had more players

IDK, it's probably still around 50-60$ since >nintendo

I mean I don't know how much you'll get out of the demo since it's a competitive figthter and I assume the demo is vs CPU only

I know >discord but that's truly the best way to learn about the game. All the top players, content creators, and TO's are there, there's subervers per region and characters as well, etc. The fact that the resources are so centralized makes it relativelt easy to get into as well.

In terms of examples of high level play, Here are some good matches

Grand finals from worlds from last year was great youtube.com/watch?v=BkOpdYBEaP8 ad was The grand finals and such from this year's worlds twitch.tv/videos/468466648?t=05h48m40s ; the non-finals brackets are on the pokkentournament rather then pokemon twitch channel The 2018 north america internationals had a ton of good sets, in particular, just make sure you aren't watching any "senior division" matches (You'll have to listen to the commentators and if they say it's senior division or not), since that includes kids and those matches are shit: twitch.tv/pokkentournament/videos?filter=archives

Also while super old now due to being many patches and shit ago, CEO 2017 had a lot of great sets, Scatz vs The Muscle here especially: youtu.be/c6ovTGSt49U?t=12806

What do you think could be better about it? It's damn well balanced and has a good neutral focus, there's loads of variety in playstyles both as a roster and in terms of how players play the same chgaracter, etc.

My only real issues are

>There should be an on screen UI element for the phase shift counter

>Light hit armor in burst should be removed

>More uses for meter would be cool
'
>MAYBE change field phase so it plays like tekken, so it retains more of duel phase's combat complexity

Oh, you're right. This is quite a dilemma.

It just kind of got boring pretty fast, possibly because of not many people playing it
wouldn't say it's a bad game but when it's right next to smash it just doesn't have much of a chance to stand out

I mean I don';t play smash competitively so I can't compare them, but I still love Pokken a lot, I just wish I still had locals near me.

>having Croagunk as your waifu

I see you are a man of culture.

Pokken was a really cool idea for non-traditional fighter. It helped me take to 2D when I realized that mainly liked duel phase and wanted more of that. I didn't play for that long but I mainly used Lucario and Weavile.

This little one.

Attached: weavile_wins.gif (500x281, 1.79M)

>anybody but machamp

I mean, Pokken is more or less a traditional fighter, even if it's one of the most divergent ones: It's got cancels, just frames, a height system, focus attacks and FADC; mixups, okl play, etc.

sauce me user

Boku no gardevoir

Nah its some 4-5 image set on ehentai or something. It's ugly dude material too, which is SHIT

I'm gonna roll with the cool grass starter with the Christmas Tree Mega Evolution bro

What kind of question is that?

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 83K)

Game flopped because it didn't have Lopunny as the capo reference fighter.

>Best Penguin is bottom-tier
This knowledge pains me, he's my all time favourite starter. Does anyone know what's wrong with him compared to the others?

Attached: Empoleon Line.jpg (894x894, 71K)

Leaf storm is so fun when you can make it work.

Attached: sceptilegenerations.webm (1190x664, 2.82M)

>Uses Leaf storm on a Golbat for .25* damage
>Floors it instantly

I wish this game wasn't dead. I only got my switch last winter and pokken was already barren. There's pretty much no chance of a sequel, right?

do you see that guy using any other pokemon? You know he's just got that, an HM slave, and something that can fly on his team. His sceptile's probably like level 70 at this point.
