We have pretty different taste in video games, mostly because he's even worse at vidja than me so there's a lot he doesn't appreciate, but he did get me into the hobby. On Christmas, father's day and his birthday I'll send him a game I think he'll like on steam.
I love him and look forward to every time he gets some time to come back to my state and hang out with me a bunch and we can talk about/share vidja we've been up to, usually I've got a few games to talk about and he's been bringing his VR set since he got it.
The only mildly sore point is politics, so I just avoid that like the plague.

That's the thing, I don't. It was pretty old, so probably released around 1997-2000.

The simulation/school part of the game has drained me. It's too tedious. Takes too fucking long. You literally spend more time on that shit than fighting the battles. Running around the monastery, eating meals, fishing, looking for items, stupid quests,etc is crap and the game would be better without it. The Instructing is fine, that can stay.

when I was a kid my dad got an xbox based off the fact he was a marine and heard that some game just came out where you got to play as a space marine. The game was Halo and we ended up playing the whole original series in coop as they came out

I'm 22, my Dad didn't play much games growing for obvious reasons he's almost 60. However have excellent childhood memories of me and him co-oping a ton of shooters from the 360 era namely Gears of War and Rainbow Six Vegas with me for a couple hours each night.

I used to play lots of Dyna Blasters, Liero and other DOS games with multiplayer with him. He would also try to play fighting games with me later when we got PS1 but could not get into it. He still sometimes bought Formula and rally games for himself until end of PS2 era.

Oh and as for vidya he only plays shit like CoD or Siege, but he stopped playing the latter when they started adding the more silly shit, like the guy with the spy glasses and such. He mainly played Lesion on defence and Sledge/Ash on attacking iirc. Didn't care for CoD past black ops 2 for a while thinking the future shit was silly, came back to it when modern warfare remastered was offered free on ps4. Modern Warfare 2 was his favourite since it was the first he played online and the heartbeat sensor became a crutch for him.

My dad used to play vidya all the time from middle school to college, apparently he played Doom a lot. He even got me playing my first game (Sonic 2 on Genesis). Sadly his skills have weaned significantly over the years, at most he just plays Mario Party with me and my brother.
But other than that, yeah we have a good relationship. He teases me about liking anime and cute girls, but he gets it and doesn't berate me too hard for it.

Turns out my old man was a fighter pilot in the YPAF and flying again, though virtually, instantly turned him from salty old fuck to happy boomer. He plays about 2-3 times per week for about 2 hours (on my PC) and from what I've seen he shits fire and fucking fury over anyone in his way (he no joke has a K/D of like 7:1 against other plane autists on muttiplayer)

I was raised by my grandpa. I know he doesn't like how much I play them, and even somewhat leeans towards tthe mindset that they cause violence, but we had a string from 2013 to 2015 where we played a bunch of different fps games. The ones I remember the most are MW2 and Rainbow six vegas 2. He always enjoyed the coordinated stealth sections the most. I always wanted to find another good local stealth co-op but never could.

I was disappointed when TPP never delivered on it's word that there would be co-op for this reason.

old poorfag, only had a NES, when it I asked for a N64 he desided to invest in the future and bought a PC so I can also use it to do homework, etc, I wasn't too much into it, so he started playing Quake 2 that came with the PC and hade me as espectator wich was actualy fu because of his methodic way of playing, not full speed but taking cover, flanking, saving amo, explore every corner of a map for secrets before advancing, etc , got me into playing but also got him into playing, so we'd pretty much share PC time with I didnt mind as I could espectate him. He likes FPS's but none of the fast ones like COF, the BLood series, Quake series, Halo1-2, the original Prey, the F.E.A.R series, Escape from butcher Bay, Haf life series, etc. He's close to 60 now and has lost some reflexes, his eyes aren't as good and started learning math/phisics t keeop the mind active and avoid deterioration, but he's still interested in games and he'd espctate me now from time to time if I'm playing an FPS.

My father got me into vidya in the first place, we would play NES games together. He still likes to check out what games I play out of curiosity and judges me based on who I have the avatar support in FE games. He's pretty bummed out at the Pokedex cut in Sword/Shield because he loves Pokemon.
