Don't worry about dumping stats into wrong attribute. You can reset your stats later into the game so don't be afraid to experiment a little. Raw weapon enhacment is good for beginners because their damage doesn't scale off your stats so you are free to experiment with your build. Godspeed to you user.

Co-op is an option but you can't say with a straight face that it doesn't break the game.
As for the OP, I'd recommend starting with the first DS. DS3 is fine but it's just not the same. The original Dark Souls was a revolutionary game that oozed soul, DS3 is much more forgettable.

Dont exclusively rely on magic, pure caster sucks and isn't very fun to play either.
Don't forget to upgrade a weapon once you know you'll use this one for a while, all materials except the one for the last upgrade can be farmed later on.
You can re-spec later on, even though it is a bit hidden, but you can do that only a limited amount of times.
Take it slow and explore areas a lot, there's hidden bullshit all over.
