Politics.
Yea Forums used to be filled with outcast weirdos with the occasional conservacuck.
Now that wokeness has taken place, the outcasts are the conservacucks, and think this is their place.
It's a inter-generation and cultural clash.

Because of the year 2016. And the huge amount of tourists that came and stayed on Yea Forums. Shoving their narrative as if it was always like that. The years after have been varying reactions to what happened in 2016 with constant pushes for and against shaming and changing chan culture.
ie. wojack spam, people that hate lolis, constant bait spam threads about what recent political controversy is popular that week

I came here in 2016 and spent a month lurking before I made my first post, and even then, I just tried to fit in with what I said. I don't understand how that isn't the norm.

I just say what I think now, but this was my first and only exposure to actual social media and I was nervous.
I didn't do it because anyone told me to, only because I hadn't worked up the confidence to post.

First of all, it's board-specific, low-traffic ones didn't change that much, even if they still did change.

Politics are certainly one reason, especially the lastest elections because Yea Forums was painted as some kind of alt-right propaganda site. As we all know, politics is something normalfags care about, so they started flooding in and finding ways to "fit in" and talk about Yea Forums in politics-related conversations on other sites or even IRL.
But this is scratching the surface, already before that, the site got the "internet hate machine" label by external sources, this is because of Yea Forums's nature of not using accounts and having way less strict rules than forums back then. Something like that of course attracts trolls and contrarians who just like to shit on everything and everyone, annoying the other Anons in the process.
Finally, the infamous "ironic" and "cringe" culture, we all are experiencing it right now, you all know what I am talking about.

As for Yea Forums in specific, GamerGate attracted the worst kind of trolls as well.

This site has been flooded by facebook boomers and faggot zoomers on a desperate moral crusade to turn every board into the epic haven of right wing political circlejerking that reddit told them was here.

Why is that? It's not like I'm speaking in buzzwords and all that nonsense.

In my experience on this board, people actually aren't baiting more times than not so I just take things at face value usually and see how they escalate before I jump to conclusions.

Honestly though, I'm glad my homeboard is /mlp/. It's the only true Yea Forums board on Yea Forums anymore, other than /f/, /jp/, /[s4s], or /k/. Every otherboard is just a sidestep from reddit or other websites. Most Yea Forums doesn't create anymore, it just reacts.
