Please pray for me. I WILL find this last item im missing. I have no idea where it can possibly be since I've rubbed my dick across the entirety of File 8 but I WILL find it.

I'm replaying through the chapters to get the clothes and explore the areas where I didn't have the proper legion before. I'm not going to touch the file 12 missions for a while.

You have my prayers user

Just finished. That stories kind of aimless it feels.

How'd your first run go?

Attached: meh.jpg (1280x720, 125K)

How do you do the follow-up sync attacks with Axe Legion after your 360 attack? I saw a webm of someone slashing two or three times for ridiculous damage.

Hold up, if I want to get an S+ rank for a File overall, I don't need to redo the entire thing from start to finish and get S+ on everything, I can instead just redo the singular ranking segments one by one?

Has the cosmetic location pastebin been updated?

You can redo singular segments, highest score is kept.

I made the mistake of buying this alongside Iceborne yesterday. Haven't played it yet but it looks really fun.

The regular combo ends with a sync attack that you follow up with ZR then another sync attack. 360 just has one sync attack. Basically just pop Blue Shield and do a full combo.

My copy arrived today. Gonna' start playing in the morning.

B because I got A ranks in the later missions. The stupid Platinum Games trademark of not being able to score highly in a first run because of hidden shit still applies to this game

link to the original please?

Just beat the game, the last boss wasn't even as hard as you fuckin casuals make it out to be.

Now fight Aether.

Whats a quick way to get money? I'm cleaned out after selling all my shit to buy the Lappy head and last legatus upgrade.

Same shit but with chapter 3. I don't want to do that fucking chapter again...

Is this like a bayonetta 2 clone, or its own thing?

Its own thing.

>get my ass kicked by the final boss
>constantly chugging items and using revives
>S rank

Attached: 1567129361803.jpg (744x640, 120K)

The game values variety over skill. Or rather, everything is bonus based, and once you lose the no damage bonus there's no difference between taking only one hit and barely surviving. You want to use as many different things as possible to rack up as many bonuses as possible. So long as you use every single legion, every single weapon, and every single technique you know in every fight, you're pretty much guaranteed an S+ rank, regardless of how much damage you take. Variety, variety, variety.

Attached: Asstral Chain.jpg (1260x845, 145K)

Just finished File 11. Noah was pretty tough, if I didn't have a bunch of meds and AED recharges I would've been screwed. I can't even imagine how awful Aether is going to be.

This game is equally awful and amazing. It’s like for every wonderful thing there’s an equally terrible thing. Sometimes the bosses can be awesome to fight, sometimes they are a chore. Sometimes the levels are fun to traverse, sometimes they are a slog. Half the levels are spent being forced to talk to npcs, the others are spent on genuinely neat little side quests and the actual combat. The dodging is better than most games, but getting hit and getting stunned into a level hazard is the most infuriating shit.

It’s been a long time since I’ve felt so torn on holding onto a game or selling it before the value goes down. Right when I think I hate it there’ll be another amazing boss fight that will make me want to play more.

Don’t get me started on level hazards instagibbing you on Pt Ultimate

Getting there is the fun part. All chapter 12 cases let you only use the items that they give you at the beginning, and the later missions gradually take away AED charges until you start with none.

fugg I'm screwed

Why is Marie such a sweetheart?

Attached: Astral Chained Up.jpg (1240x1754, 360K)

Go to the part where Akira loses Marie's cat. There's a hidden shop with a 10K battery there. Grab it, sell it, leave, and then restart the mission.
It works for me.

A great but flawed game. Most of Platinum's games are usually flawed greatness. I can't believe how awesome Metal Gear Rising was, until you got to the final two stages which felt rushed as hell.

This game isn't the non-stop combat everybody was expecting, it's filled with a world you do a ton of sidequests in. That's the type of game it is. Using the IRIS was pretty cool at first, but sometimes levels do feel like they're going too slow and you wish the director would've found a way to increase the pacing.

The combat has much more depth than you would have ever thought, and the legion + chain gimmicks make it stand out. There are troubles with the combat that keep it from being high tier, problems with camera, it's not very intuitive, never knowing if dodging an attack will mean you get hit anyway. But the depth is there and you can see people pull off some very impressive combos. There's one guy here who always says "post webm's" and he seems to be showcasing the best combat proficiency that I've seen.

Game is beautiful and the environments are quite scenic. The astral plane has an abstract beauty that's hard to put your finger on. Story could be better.

Boss fights were awesome.

It's still pretty good overall, at least an 8/10 in my book

Attached: Combat_Many_Hit_Rushes.webm (854x480, 2.96M)

I thought 8 was a nice change of pace that gave a good breather before leaping into the climax, but file 10 is the real obnoxious chapter
Right when it's supposed to keep ramping up the tension and action with the big twist and the Jena fight, it instead forces you to stop, do more random side quest followed by another fucking set of stealth missions, which is what really annihilates the pacing in what should've been entirely fighting against Neuron and the Ravens

Don't get me wrong, I really like this game. The concept is an interesting change from the usual platinum affair, the world itself is pretty interesting, and for the most part the random side shit does make for a nice breather so it isn't just one fight after another after another. Even Devil May Cry made sure to put puzzles in there to mix things up, and Bayonetta let you wander about and explore the cities for a bit. It just went too hard on it during the end when it should've just been pure combat.

Altogether it could use some polish, but it's definitely notable and I want more of it

Pretty sure that's how it goes, that's what others have been saying. Said you don't need to even complete an entire chapter again when going for score, you can just do the parts you wanted to score up. After that, you can just switch back to chapter 12. I haven't really done it myself, but that's what others have said.
Pretty awesome how that was drawn by Bayonetta's character designer. Here's the english version

So where does Akira stand in terms of Platinum Protagonists?

Male or Female protag?

Female for the infinitely better version of Dark Hero.

Hit Rush combos are a gift from God and also Kamiya

Yeah, I think I’m throwing in the towel and putting it up for sale tomorrow. The Proto-Legion boss fight really rubbed me the wrong way. I don’t like how useless your character is compared to the auto-attacking legions. You can be doing nonstop melee attacks mixed with perfect dodging and you amount to jack shit if you aren’t letting the right legion do most of the work for you.

At this point I’m just not having fun. Love the setting and premise, some of the characters are really enjoyable, but when it comes down to the actual combat I’m just not digging it. I keep either wanting to play Wonderful 101 or XC2, and when a game makes me want to play other games that’s not a good sign.

Not that high up there since I've played a bunch of Platinum Games where you're fighting in space looking down on earth in a battle that's going to save the planet. He's a normal human that's very athletic, using his stand he could probably lift and throw a bus, but his real strength is when he goes into Fusion (Super Saiyan) mode. At that point he's stronger than Raiden and human Dante, maybe stronger than Red from W101. But I wouldn't say he's stronger than Demon Dante or Bayonetta. Never played Nier Automata to know how he compares to 2B.
Don't they make a very easy mode for people like you?

But seriously, it's like all stylish action games, you're gonna get your ass kicked the first playthrough and you won't have all your options available. You don't git gud and things don't "click" until after you've played a good while, and when it does you wonder "how did I ever get hit by these enemies, they're such jokers".

I'm able to kill the smaller enemies like nothing now, and I'm finally able to easily air combo things (first send legion to flying enemy with ZL, then ZL+ZR to launch yourself into the combo).

Also, it seems like the best way to stagger enemies for combo setups is with chain binds. Later on you get an auto bind skill that lets you chain enemies up in a snap, you can even chain up multiple enemies at once.

It's your money and I can't tell you what to do, but these sort of games wreck you on first playthrough and open up later on

Attached: Combat_1168134882226126848.webm (854x480, 2.95M)

It’s not that it’s wrecking me, it’s that I don’t like the ways to win. Here I am doing perfect dodges and getting in tons of hits but it doesn’t amount to anything, switch to one particular Legion and it makes all the difference. My skill isn’t want mattered nearly as much as the Legion I was using. It’s got the same difficulty Ninja Gaiden 3 has if you aren’t using the right Legion for the job, in which the enemies will just take a ton of hits and you’ll become tired of the fight and lose more from being worn down than the enemies actually having an interesting attack pattern or good AI.

Doesn’t help that the boss before them was that fire ball that you basically had to fight ranged and, again, didn’t boil down to difficulty but patience.

what a bizarre criticism

the point of the combat is that it gives you plenty of options to deal with any given situation, "I'm not using the right legion so it doesn't work" is something I've never encountered in my playthrough

like what the fuck are you doing after your perfect dodges, you've got plenty of sync attacks follow ups depending on your position and what you try to do

A
I got a bunch of Ds and Cs in the beginning when you didn't have any moves

sword is the only legion with an obscenely long 360 attack. Are you mistaking it for that?

>there's stylish empty cans disposal in the game

youtu.be/2fYrzyh0dIU

the absolute madman

what legion is so powerful for you? For me they're all pretty weak (until you level them up some). The axe is the strongest and just takes chunks of damage, but he's the slowest and hardest to use. Arm is second strongest for me.

I mean I never really understood this. Hard enemies are hard. It's a test of how good you can be, balancing your offense and defense to overpower enemies that are supposed to be stronger than you. I struggled getting through the normal and hard difficulties of DMC3, but never thought "these enemies have too much health, the game would be better if they were easier to kill".

What might be the case is that you haven't leveled up your Legions. There are a bunch of nodes that you can use that give stuff like +5/10/15/20% defense or offense. Your Legion starts at C1- but at the end you can get it pretty high like C9+ (highest I've gotten so far). There's also plenty of abilities that increase your offense, defense, crit chance, crit damage etc. I've seen people destroy the big guys very easily, but I'm nowhere near their level yet.
this one?
I was impressed by that throw can then mid-air slo-motion sword slash to knock can into the bin

Attached: sword 360.webm (1280x720, 2.86M)

yes, it's the sword 360 attack, not the axe one.

In the particular case of Proto-Legion I’d follow up with a counter attack but if I mistook the timing I’d be hit out of it or barely do any damage at all. Hell, even with a buffed sword legion using that circle of swords they were barely taking any damage until I switched to the arm legion in which case he could practically handle them alone.

Maybe the game gets better and I’ve hit the slog of it with File 5 which just about captured everything I hate in vidya.
>pointless hospital visit that amounts to being an over glorified walking segment
>slow escort mission
>health sponge bosses
>annoying stage hazards in the middle of fights
>awkward platforming (mostly due to how inaccurate the beast legions movement can be, don’t have much issue with chain jumping)

hold the fuck up. You're complaining about the game forcing you to use legions when the entire premise is making you use legions?
Yeah, I think it'd be better if you sold it

Arm, and I think they are all at C3 now on file 5?
Forcing you to use SPECIFIC legions. But perhaps it was just the case of the two major boss fights in file 5. I like my action games to let me have some creativity with my fights and not funnel me into one particular way of winning. The fact it didn’t seem like I was doing any damage at all to the proto-Legion and the Arm Legion basically handles them on his own once I got him out didn’t help the matter. Then the fight before that being the fire chimera forcing you to use the shitty hand gun didn’t help matters.

>tfw starting to regret picking female protag because I could have seen cute female Arika clone feet

>niggas calling an unpolished, barely tested, 30fps adventure RPG with ultra experimental controls and no hitstun "Platinum's best action game since Bayonetta"
I guess there's no accounting for taste...

went pretty good for my first run. Especially when i remember i got mostly stone in bayo1 the first time

Attached: DSC_0035.jpg (3840x2160, 2.3M)

Man if only the game actually looked that sharp

>It’s not that it’s wrecking me, it’s that I don’t like the ways to win
user I'm right there with you, but you're shouting into the wind.

You can explain how bad things feel and how the game constantly de-incentivizes active play and incentivizes mindless legion use but their response will just be "git gud" because they think shit like perfect chain jumps is somehow difficult and cool

Files 6 and 8 are worse
This game is a horrible slog and literally half the chapters (1, 2, 5, 6, 8) are complete shit.

Ah, so I guess this shit has been said before. I’m not even saying it’s necessarily bad, just that I can’t get behind that sort of combat as I’d like to take a more direct role in it. I also don’t like a lot of the filler between my fights as most of it just boils down to you talking to a bunch of unmarked NPC’s till you can progress, though I imagine some people appreciate that sort of thing. Guess sometimes you accidentally buy a game that isn’t for you.

The arm is a little stronger than the sword, but not significantly so. Only felt the game forced me to use one specific legion if I was doing something like shooting the bow, or digging up enemies. The game actually wants you to play with all the legions, and weapons, literally switching to a different one after each kill.

What I have seen is that the Arm legion can do more "stunning" on the enemies. Some guy posted a webm of the Arm guy attacking the great sword enemy, and the hits were stunning the great sword a lot.

Personally I get wrecked all the time, regardless of legion. Great sword is the one that takes chunks of health off, but not so much that it makes the others useless.

The one they say is the most overpowered is the arrow legion. It's perfect call does something of a shotgun attack, and against large enemies it does absurd damage.

I attack fire enemies up close all the time, it's their attacks that set you on fire.

>artificial difficulty: the enemy

Attached: 20190908_031603.jpg (1078x854, 430K)

they should've made it easier to destroy the versions of those things that dug in the ground. Takes a while to dig them out while tons of enemies are attacking you

Attached: sword bind gun arrow.webm (1280x720, 2.5M)

>Guess sometimes you accidentally buy a game that isn’t for you.
Unfortunately.

I can't help but feel this game's marketing contributed to the disappointment, it billed itself as another Platinum non-stop action game when it's something else entirely

>Personally I get wrecked all the time, regardless of legion

I’m not having that issue to much, really most enemies are fun to fight but it’s the stage hazards that will get me before they do. I think in the end I’d have been happy if they offered an alternate, but even more convoluted play style that allowed direct control over my character and the Legion, something like V from DMC5 but actually fleshed out. What it is is fine for the people who like it, but I think I was looking for a more standard action game experience. Still love the art direction, setting, and premise, but if I don’t enjoy the actual gameplay there’s not much point in me continuing, but yeah, I hope you guys continue to enjoy it and get your replay value out of it!

yeah the arrow legion has tons of utility

its sync attack after a perfect dodge is particularly useful, it gets you out of harm's way, temporarily stuns enemies and allows you to follow up with a charged L attack

That sure is what I was expecting, and the whole almost Toku cop thing was right up my alley. At least the game did well commercially so I probably won’t have much trouble making most of my money back.

Bayonetta is pure button mashing garbage because the dodge is so abusable. You don't have to learn any inputs or even enemy tells because the dodge is so generous with its i-frames. Nier was even worse because the dodge made you fully invincible and there was no lag between dodges. Reveangeance was better than both, because you at least had to pay attention to where the enemy was in relation to you to parry, but there was no downside to spamming flicking your stick for parries while attacking. Astral Chain is the first Platinum game where you get punished for mashing, seriously, you actually have to avoid doing synch attacks in some of the hardest fights.

So I finished the game recently, and I don't know if I ever want to go back to it. I kinda just wanna get my thoughts out.
I enjoyed it at times, but hated it at others. It feels incredibly half-assed in so many areas especially compared to other Platinum games, but it feels nice to play sometimes when they aren't throwing a bunch of hazards or barrier enemies or whatever at you. Fighting stuff like the Grace and Glory knock-offs in File 8 with Akira actually felt pretty fun. Punching stuff with the Arm Legion was also fun.
Most of the defensive options in the game feel like ass and can just end up getting you hurt more, though, outside of the Platinum-style flick-the-stick parry which is essentially the only safe way to defend against anything, but for some reason they decided to make it an RNG drop that also takes up an ability slot on your legions, and you have to slot it in to every single Legion if you want to use it at all times. Whipping out stuff like sword mode or trying to Chain Jump out of danger in combat just feels clunky. Also chain binding just sometimes doesn't want to work if you try to do it manually.
I guess the game just expects you to get hit by stuff, though, because they hardly penalize you for using items or even reviving, and they give you a billion free items anyways.
All of the stuff outside of combat also just feels like a drag, and most of the minigames do not feel good to do. File 8, for example, should not have made it in the game at all.
The story is also just dumb nonsense. I didn't think I was expecting too much to have something as simple and satisfying as W101 in another Platinum game, but Astral Chain just does nothing with so much, but I guess they can expand on it in a sequel because the game sold well. There are just so many characters in this game, and most of them are terrible and/or do nothing for 80% of the game.
Overall it's like a 6. I don't think it deserves the praise it's getting, but it's fine despite everything.

Attached: file.png (1280x720, 1.3M)

>Bayonetta is pure button mashing garbage
Stopped reading here

Attached: dfg1.jpg (600x600, 31K)

I'm surprised you can read at all.

the first one required a bit more finesse but bayo 2 was kind of mashy with how overpowered umbran climax was

also the chainsaws were retarded, constant hitstun made raking up combo points super easy

>guys shut up this is totally platinum's best game
>not like that awful Bayonetta
So it's shit

Attached: 30a.jpg (475x356, 54K)

>I guess the game just expects you to get hit by stuff
That's easily the most infuriating aspect of the game's design. What's even the point of having a ranking system when you're only rewarded for going down the devs' checklist of gimmicky bullshit instead of it basing on actual skill? This the first action game I've played that made me feel absolutely zero satisfaction from getting an S+ rank.

Attached: 1566788680234.jpg (696x675, 262K)

I agree with file 8, absolute garbage

completely disagree with the defensive options, perfect call is one of the best mechanics in any platinum games and some of them have endless iframes that get you out of shitty situations everytime

>perfect call is one of the best mechanics in any platinum games
Hell no it's not. Not when enemies just decide to completely ignore it and attack you through a perfect call anyways.

>deal good damage at at reasonably fast times
>use sync attacks
>don't get hit too much
>C ranking

AC rewards you using everything in your kit above everything else

it never happened to me

I don't think it's possible to interrupt the arrow legion's perfect call animation once it's activated, do you have a vid showing something like that?

I was fighting the Ravens in File 11 and got a perfect call with Axe, only to be hit a second later by a follow up attack

The rating system is weird, but I think you get more bonuses the more different flashy things you do. Also, not getting hit at all lands you a really big bonus.

why do tw101fags have such shit taste

As keeps being said, rank is literallt just "Did you check off every option on the list?"

It has nothing to do with skill or performance. This isn't that kind of game.

>most enemies are fun to fight but it’s the stage hazards that will get me before they do
The only real bad stage hazard was during the Arm legion boss, such narrow playing field that was filled with sticky floor sludge that I'm guessing was put there to make you appreciate the arm legion's ability to let you float over it later. Sometimes I roll into fire, but otherwise stage hazards don't come up.

>What it is is fine for the people who like it, but I think I was looking for a more standard action game experience.
Yeah. I agree with you there. I think most people, myself included, expected non-stop action. Especially from Platinum who's known for action games.

I wouldn't score it so low, but I do agree that its nowhere near the level of W101 or Bayonetta. The years those games came out, they were my favorite games of those years. I put a hundred or so hours into each of them, didn't get tired of playing either for a month.

This one, it's still good, but not as good. There were so many sidequests that just took a while that I don't know if I want to do them again. I'm hoping the combat opens up for me more, but it still hasn't "clicked" for me to get proficient at it that I'm toying with my enemies like in other stylish action games.

Action is still better than much better than most games, but doesn't reach the high water marks of Platinum's best

Attached: 1170300324000567296_1170300324000567296b.webm (854x480, 2.94M)

Oh well if only there was some in game indicator of how much you're using in your kit. You know, like some kind of meter that shows how stylish you're being based on your moveset diversity and flashiness.
What list? I wouldn't mind this ranking system if i had a list of things i need to do!

The list of half-baked mechamics they jumbled to make this game

Use a hit rush and summon another persona
Use two weapons
Use all your legion skills
Do a chain jump
Do 3 sync attacks
Do a chain bind

Wow that completely removed any desire I have to s-rank this game, lol. I can see why the lower difficulties don't even give you letter scores.

Just use every legion, their special moves, bind enemies and do synch moves. What else do you think you could do?

only beast and arrow legions have full iframes in perfect recall afaik

Wow
That's fucking stupid and makes me hate it even more

Let's see how shit your taste is then

>use sync attack
>it locks me into a long animation
>some fucking dog hits me while it's being done
WOW! GREAT GAME!

I keep switching between English and Japanese voices, I can't decide which is better.
Though Lappy's fake southern accent is really really shite

I wanna add this would be a lot less of an issue if the camera wasn't up the player's ass, preventing you from seeing anything that isn't in your 75 degree FOV

Get good

>perfect dodge
>just want to keep attacking with offset
>forces me to do a big dumb slow spin kick
>get hit out of it because it's so fucking slow
A+ Taura your game makes me want to strangle a kitten

That webm showcases perfectly how terrible the lock-on is in this game. Sync attacks miss over half the time you do them, even if you're right in the monster's face. And the fucking camera, holy shit.

The arrow legion boss fight has got to be one of the shittiest bosses I've had the displeasure of fighting in quite some time. What an unfun mess.

holy shit what awful taste

You know, Arrow isn't that bad after fighting Arms in GOO HELL

Every previous plat title had diminished movesets for offscreen enemies. Fuck, a game as old as God Hand had it

>That raven mob in chapter 11
>Can't move three steps without getting tagged by something offscreen
>Stunned almost constantly and have to keep running for 90% of the fight
>The single most unfun fight in the game

Astral Chain is the definition of 'two steps forward, one step back'. Yeah it's good, but it's got some gaping flaws that absolutely need to be addressed if there's a sequel

The camera is honestly one of the worst cameras I've seen in the current gen. It just has no idea how to keep both yourself and the monster in view. The cerberus fight is only remotely hard because the camera just straight up refuses to angle up enough to ensure you can see what's going on when it jumps up. This wouldn't be an issue if the camera were further back but this fucking game is on the switch and the fucking console can't afford showing you more than it already does without dipping even further with the FPS.
Yeah I just did that fight and, again, it wouldn't be so bad if I could actually see the floor properly, but the fucking CAMERA completely botches my spatial understanding.
Bayonetta 2 also had this problem. Camera management and enemy design seems to be something that platinum is losing over time and it's disgraceful. This game has huge problems that make it a fucking pain in the ass.

it's a good thing god hand had responsive controls and consistent logic to the game design unlike ass chain

God Hand is made by Shinji Mikami who clearly understood what makes a game feel fun and fair.

>platforming segment
>have to do the wrap around jump around the crystal
>bump into a crystal while trying to finish the jump
>fall and take damage
AAAAARGH WHY THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT IN THE GAME HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHAT MY JUMP TRAJECTORY IS GOING TO BE IF IT'S GOING TO FUCK ME OVER EVERY SINGLE TIME HOLY SHIT

Got myself a B, so I'm happy with it.

Post your lists, cowards

>Simple platform
>Throw legion to the middle of it
>BUMP INTO THE LEGION
>undershoots and I fall

THIS COULD BE THE END OF TIME
THIS COULD BE THE END OF ME

The jumping feels so inconsistent I have completely lost faith in it. Why can't I just have a double jump? If the legion is still on the platform while I'm falling why can't I jump to it while in mid air? YOU KNOW, LIKE HOW THE CHARACTER DOES WHEN YOU FALL OFF THE PLATFORM?

What's your favourite legion and what order do you have your legions in, Anons? I fucking love how fast Arrow is to control and Slow Shot is invaluable for getting a full gladius combo in. Been considering putting Axe after Arrow so that I can hit Y and get the Axe sync attack to follow it up. Which legion's got the best gladius combo sync attack?

I wanted Bayonetta 3 as much as the next guy, but this isn't it. It's off doing its own thing.

I agree that the game throws so much at you that you can't avoid getting hit, so the game doesn't bother to penalize you for getting hit. It'd be a stronger game if you had more defensive tools and better dodge (I think only first dodge roll is special), such that you could go through the game without getting hit if you were skilled enough...but that doesn't seem to be the case nor the type of game they were going for.

Which is a shame, because that's the metric for how the game will be judged, even though it's off doing it's own detective + cop + combat thing.

Again, it's not trying to be a pure action game like everybody expected.
All the sync attacks hit in that webm, but the legion will over shoot the target's model (but it's attack still hit the enemy's hitbox). The webm's fine since all attacks hit the target.

What gets me, is that if I'm locked onto a specific enemy in a group then do an auto chain bind which binds multiple enemies, then sync attack to do the double team attack on it...the legion instead might go for a different target instead.

Further, you're not invincible during this team attack animation and could easily get side swiped by some random enemy who wasn't bound up.
they got that here too, but it won't feel like it when you've got 8 fire breathing frogs spitting fireballs at you.
You can still have like 20 things up there and still not get S+ for some fights, I think the harder ones. Time is always your biggest point maker.

Attached: Mr_Taura_Case_Files_13c_Masakazu Katsura.jpg (4096x5796, 3.91M)

When can I play this at 4k

Love and hate the game at the same time

>dodging like a boss, landing my syncs, being fast while STILL using a good variety of moves
>getting C rank or some shit like that

>use 5 curatives during battle, getting stunned and thrown around the battlefield by enemies like an idiot
>here have that S+ only because you decided to change your loadout every 30 seconds

also the camera sucks

it's a pity because fundamentally I think the legion system is very cool, and I also like the overall style of the game (setting, music, atmosphere). story isn't anything special but not too intrusive

all the art with brown hair really throws me off when it's almost black really unless your stood in some very strong lighting.

in your dreams faggot

How do i view the files in the beginning of Case 6 again if i skip it?

What files?

I'm really not trying to be a console war fag when I say this, but the game got kneecapped by being on the switch. It really needed better hardware to shine. 30fps and an awful camera prevent this game from being great.

Can't jump through objects or walls. Even dumb ass let's players had no problem with the chain-jumping. Unless you're complaining about the 1 or 2 jumps around corners without fixing your camera first, you're doing it to yourself. The game only takes health if you fall, falling will never kill you because you always keep 1 health, and the game gives you tons of health items.

The light symbol under your legion is where you jump to, and when you arrive you push your legion slightly forward.
The art was made by Masakazu Katsura who did the character designs for this game I hear

Attached: EDoaizbU4AAQGAJ.jpg (1518x1075, 364K)

God damn Akira's lips are so good. Her character design just hits all the right spots.

I'm glad Tiger and bunny dude got more work, his style is really unique.

I want to hear Hal's voice actor shout and rage again. He's like a much better Yuri Lowenthal.

Yeah, no. You can do everything right, and the game will still fuck you. Sometimes it'll even glitch out and pull stationary platforms from under you.
Chain-jumping is fucking busted.

>Love and hate the game at the same time
That seems to be the most common feeling about it, I think
It's great in some ways and absolute shite in others

Usually you can overlook the flaws on a good game if it's good enough, but some of the flaws here are so rough it's really hard to see through them

Anyone else experience a glitch during the second homonculus fight where it froze up after falling from a jump?

>30fps and an awful camera prevent this game from being great.
I agree about the 30 fps (especially since it's not locked at 30), but the camera I think could be fixed while still being on the Switch. The main issue I have is that lock-on is basically unusable in any group fight (especially with flyers or fast movers). If you could lock something and have it never affect the camera that change alone would be a massive improvement.
Sometimes it feels like the game's real issue is that it wasn't designed for human hands and a standard 2-stick controller. Camera+Legion+Player control gets real awkward at the worst of times and often you need to think not just about your combat area, but where you're going to fight with regards to your field of view.

>Masakazu Katsura
>>>>>>>>>"Tiger and bunny dude"
show some fucking respect

>End credits
>Nothing but ass, tits, Olive's legs, and Alicia's thighs

I have to assume the camera is this bad because they're trying desperately to keep the performance at a manageable level and they do this by lowering how much of the battlefield you see. It's not a new technique and it's pretty much a plague that's fucked a ton of games in the past two console generations. I assume that the camera is intentionally like this, because the alternative means that a whole bunch of people at platinum are just absolutely terrible at developing games if they missed this obvious oversight.

Can anyone help me with this?

once you get to File 12 you can then go to your PC and choose which File you want to go back to. I chose File 06 again and then was able to see the cases.

Password is birth date of the twins, MMDD format
they show whatever you were taking photos of
>Sometimes it'll even glitch out and pull stationary platforms from under you.
Are you talking about those platforms that don't appear unless you hover your legion over them? Those are supposed to dissappear after a set amount of time. If you're talking about the platforms that get moved by the arm legion in the astral plane, those have a clear "this is a wall don't go past it" visual, where the platform dissappears if you do.

People have gotten the dog holo mask just fine, and that requires jumping through fast moving platforms
nope

Is there a way to combine the ability chips? I got a few great combinations real early and the rest are just sitting in my inventory.

ok thank you, are those files important why is it so easy to skip them?

B. I was pretty much S+ing all the combat cases after I got used to it but the beginning was rougher. I beat Noah first try but he actually made me go through all of my healing items and batteries. I did S+ him though because the ranking doesn't care about damage. I like every legion but I'd say beast is my favorite and most used. The mobility is just too good to pass up and the whole moveset is great. I love sending him at the enemy as a beyblade, then howl, chain jump, air combo plus snyc to finish.

how often do they fuck

Attached: Astral-Chain.jpg (1884x964, 80K)

Are salvage items used for anything or do I just sell them?

I use them all except arm.
I usually rotate them Axe -> Beast -> Sword -> Arrow

My fave is Arm. I usually go Beast -> Howl -> Hit Rush -> Sword -> Round Sword -> Auto Bind -> Arm -> go crazy with the gladius

Sister is too good for brother.
So never.

Cans for duty points, cat food to the cats to get a different salvage item in return. Sell the rest

cans aren't salvage, they are categorized as combat items. since you can throw them

Sister is too busy fucking beast legion

But the Beast legion is a girl.

Why is both the japanese and english dub so meh in this game? The japanese dub sounds like it was recorded in mono on a phone.

also, when going to other later Files/chapters, you can see the logs again. In fact, more get added in later Files.
This...this is probably the heart of the matter and it's a catch 22 situation. Sure the game would've looked better on stronger hardware, but nobody would've rolled the dice and funded this unknown. It's "budget" being on the switch. It's got great graphics and the IRIS thing looks impressive...for a switch title. Had it not been "budget", nobody would've funded it and it would've probably never gotten made. You can tell the entire game is an experiment, just like using two characters (player & legion) is an experiment for combat. I hear it took them five years, but it was probably done slowly on the back burner if Platinum was able to start & finish making Nier Automata. Word is the guys who made Metal Rear Rising created that in a year. The whole game seems very good, but then you turn around and find these little flaws everywhere.

What's even weirder is that I hear Platinum wanted to branch off and do something different, instead of the usual action games they're known for, so they did stuff like this...but when you look at how a lot of people who made the Zelda-like Okami game now work at Platinum, you wonder if they're capable of that then why bother "proving themselves" with an experimental title like this. I get the feeling that a lot of their junior members were taking the reins, while the senior members were supervising but focusing their energies on other projects.

Bayonetta 1 was damn hot, but Bayonetta 2 had something off. Turns out the veteran Kamiya didn't direct Bayonetta 2, he let a somewhat "junior" guy direct it (Hashimoto, also a veteran but was new to the director's seat). Hashimoto was new to directing a video game, and I feel Bayoneta 2 wasn't as good as Bayonetta 1 because of that. The same thing here, Astral Chain's director is directing a game for the first time

Back/forward zr gladius sync attack with axe is pure sex.

girls can have sex with girls, silly

For those who don't know, all legions have perfect dodge combos in their L modes. In blade mode with sword, you'll follow-up with three zr and then a sync. Also beast can slash and do a 180 turn if you do a 360 zr while riding it.

I was pretty bad at the game early on, but you could tell I was getting better & better.
I still missed a ton of missions, items, costume pieces, etc.
>why is it so easy to skip them?
The game made it so that you could not progress unless you browsed through every file. The files are just back story to the game, descriptions of how the ark came to be, what happened to zone 09, possible theories of why zone 09 had a catastrophe, and later some updates on your unit.

Also some humorous reports from Marie and how lethal her cooking is.
combine no, destroy yes.
I love the howl that's an AOE stun, but have trouble hitting enemies while riding him. I always seem to overshoot the enemy by a few feet, making my attack miss
This is what I want to get into, especially what abilities to use.

Favorite legion is the sword, but I'm trying to play the combat where you switch weapons/legions after every kill. I can never really use it's L-slash properly as parries.

The other legions have their uses, but all are unwieldy for me, something's always a little off when using them. I do love the Blue Shield that the Axe legion gives.

But what about those ability chips? I hear that the most boss ones are Critical Chance & Critical damage. The only ones I really use are the Slow chips (makes some bubble around enemy). I also use the auto-pickup & auto-scan ones.

I think the game's set up in such a way that if you end up fighting elemental enemies, you're supposed to gear out your legion to protect you from that element, but I never both to do that. I might need to on the harder difficulty.

Anybody try the strength/defensive ones?

Also, the one that extends the chain is probably the best for those stealth missions.

I’m gonna give this game a 4/10. The combat is pretty simplistic outside of the chain gimmick, and the story is a terrible ripoff of Evangelion.
But there’s some simple fun to it, I think they should have cut most of the detective work gameplay though it’s awful. And the IRIS function should have been scrapped, it’s not fun to use, it’s just annoying

Attached: Anger.png (197x188, 67K)

I’ve noticed that there are a few people ITT that are actually trying to blame the marketing for selling the game as something it isn’t. I understand why people would be disappointed in the game if they bought it thinking that but that’s a case of you not doing enough research before buying it. In previews, dev interviews, and long form gameplay demonstrations it was always emphasized that the game was not “just” another action game; that there was a lot of downtime and investigation stuff and that the combat was only one part of it. You just thought it was another straight action game because you saw a couple of 1 minute trailers that try to sell “hype” like any other game and just typecast Platinum because that’s all they’ve ever made,
It’s like if you bought Alien Isolation and then got mad at Creative Assembly because it wasn’t Total War like every other game they’ve made.

So I just got to File 8 and I'm already seeing why its been called shit, but I was really dreading the traffic puzzles until I actually got to them. They werent all too bad, did people really struggle with them?

people are dumb. more news at eleven.

how in the world did they make this game look so good on the switch.

Please shut up. It’s not that non-action sections exist it’s that they suck.

>go around and talk to every NPC
>Now user prove you were listening in this multiple choice quiz!
Steaming garbage to make the game longer

Most people like them, so fuck off.

Most "criticism" in this thread is absolutely pathetic, mostly crying it's not a DMC clone.

Inconsistent 30 FPS, proving once again that trying to make your game look good and target 60 FPS is a waste of time because the seals will clap regardless of how many frame drops there are as long as it’s pretty enough.

I genuinely wonder what people who are long time platinum fans have to say about astral chain because to me i feel like the game is a strict step down in just about every regard when it comes to combat.

I have a feeling that some people consider demands for consistent combat and a solid framerate to be demands for a dmc clone.

It’s not a judgment on the quality of the downtime, it’s a statement on those ITT saying that they bought the game believing it was one thing but got another, and pinning the blame on marketing rather than their own lack of research.
I’m just saying take personal responsibility for your buyer’s remorse.

Whoever you don't play as will do all of the talking.

Considering most complaints bpild down to pretending the dodge is the only defensive option and crying like a little bitcj you can infinitely stunlock enemies, it seem they are just begging for a DMC clone.

why are you so offended by people expecting a DMC type game, which it is? You keep bitching about it.

The game was never trying to be a pure action game so to judge it based on that. In addition I think that you are severely overstating the quality of Platinum’s work; only Bayo1, W101, and maybe Transformers and maybe Transformers are straight up better playing than Astral Chain.

I don't know who had the bright idea to make vending machines who were Tsundere but they deserve a raise. Along with whoever designed Marie's boingy bits.

It literally isn't, that's why.
Crying Muh DMC isn't criticism of a game, it's just retarded whining.

There is nothing objectively better about the way dmc handles these things, just people crying over having to readjust.

And especially with a community that jerks off how hardcore they are, that just seems pathetic to me.

>played splatoon 2 with motion controls
>start up game of AC
>rediscover that right stick drifts

Attached: 1563968701923.png (195x261, 19K)

I don’t think you’ve played DMC if you think those games have a lot of defensive options

Should I focus on upgrading a single legion that I prefer or try and level them all equally?

I had way more fun with MGR and also Bayo2. Unfortunately something is going on with platinum and it looks like the company is eating major shit behind closed doors, otherwise I don't understand what's going on over there in terms of quality.

That's literally the opposite of what I meant.
They are complaining that the dodge isn't a get out of jail free card like bayo or dmc, where they are essentially the perfect defensive option.

But AC is different in that regard, and they just refuse to even consider adapting

You get more points / higher rankings for using several legions in a single battle, so I'd say upgrade them roughly equally

I am of the opinion that if a game has tools that players have a hard time using, then the game is bad at teaching, and it's not the player's fault, especially if they're action game players.
Astral chain is infected with particleitis, which makes things really hard to parse and unclear. Kind of like overwatch. What you need is clear models doing clear attacks but everything in AC looks weird and attacks weird and this really discourages creativity.

It is though. a lot of the combat’s complexity is in the legion/chain system but it’s still done in the vein and format of DMC. You really exaggerating how unique this game is, as someone who buys most Platinum games.

It’s that people believing that the reason that all of the good action games are Japanese wasn’t because of nippon stronk, but because the handful of people on the planet that know how to make them just happen to be Japanese.
In Platinum’s case, the only one left who knows is Kamiya.

The game can be bad at teaching, but a hardcore player should have literally no problem with that.

And attacking weird sound like something you should get over after the first encounter with an enemy

I barely see anyone complaining about the dodge. That’s just how Nintendo fanboys are misrepresenting and oversimplifying all criticism

It does suck though how often you just get hit right after a perfect dodge though, but that’s hardly the biggest issue with this game. Btw the game’s not bad, it’s just mediocre

And my point is that DMC’s dodges are not very good either, and if you think they work like Bayo’s you don’t know what you’re talking about.
I mean for fucks sake the DMC threads were making fun of ResetEra and twitter posts about people complaining that there wasn’t a Bayonetta-esque dodge in the game when the demo came out.

>check move list post-game
>wearing the arm legion has a charge attack and a back forward input
I thought it was just button mashing with it up until this point.

Attached: alex-jones-sunglasses-59634c7745b1f.jpg (600x547, 17K)

I don't want the game to play like DMC but DMC5 sure did set a high standard in terms of responsive gameplay with a high degree of freedom for player expression. I am completely open to games giving me a different kind of defensive tool, which is why I like MGR, but astral chain's combat feels very like, low feedback.
Let me put it this way, not a single defensive move in astral chain feels as good as getting a parry off in DMC5, or dodging with balrog's shuffle. I'm not saying every game should play like DMC, but I am definitely going to insinuate that DMC5 sets a gold standard for modern action games and I'm going to compare how good a game FEELS to play compared to it, and astral chain feels like a western action game, with low framerate, unresponsive controls, and COOLDOWN BASED SKILLS what the FUCK.

Last thread, people couldn't stop crying over the dodge.
Immediately crying over Nintendo fan boys make you look retarded, just like thinking one perfect dodge should be a get out of jail free card.

Wearing the arm legion, back-forward attack has a badass sync attack where you unlease a barrage of missiles, like in one of the trailers. Sadly it does piss damage and rarely stuns anything stronger the C2 enemies

Should I get this game instead of River City Girls?

Unrelated but is wonderful 101 playable on Cemu?
I have a 2600x and vega 56

But not every game should feel the same.
Donkey Kong country feels completely different from Mario world, doesn't make one better than the other.

Same with cool down, it's a perfectly valid option to prevent spamming and adds another layer of complexity beyond spamming your legion.

>and astral chain feels like a western action game
THIS. I’d say it’s slightly better than Dad of Boi but because AC and nuGoW can be used for console war shitposting and casuals like them because they’re simple people are gonna pretend that those two games are the peak of action games.
I fucking hate everything but at least we still have Itsuno. Can’t wait for Dragons Dogma 2 to be a better RPG and action game than either AC or GoW.

>95% Red Matter Cleared

Attached: viviupset.png (500x500, 265K)

>it's a perfectly valid option to prevent spamming
You can do that just as easily with a good ranking system that doesn’t artificially limit player options but Astral Chain doesn’t have that either.

Not really with the way AC works, how would you factor the time the legion is out compared to the amount of legion specific abilities used without fucking up the ranking system?

Balancing the way you use your legion through rankings sounds like a nightmare.

Nobody ever pretended AC is the peak of combat design in action games.
What are you smoking?

>Nobody ever pretended AC is the peak of combat design in action games.
It hasn’t been on Yea Forums but I’ve seen this opinion exposed more than once among normies. Same as GoW.

I really haven't, most normies who played Bayo or DMC still say they have deeper combat systems.

But normalfags aren't a good benchmark, for all you know Astral Chain could have easily have the best combat system of any game they played.
Because AC does have a really good combat system, especially compared to the vast majority of games.

I’d be an absurd amount of extra work but I think the shitty ranking system and cool downs are real flaws with the game and make it feel much worse to play.

The cool downs are perfectly fine, it's just another resource to juggle and forces the player to make choices.

The ranking system is truly horrible though, it feels borderline random and should have been either improved significantly or scrapped like in Nier.

Gotta say I agree with you in that regard. I was looking at the half hour footage they showed at Gamescom recently, and there's no deceptive marketing or anything. The game is trying to do something different, it does some great things sometimes, other times it falters. It does get frustrating when it falters, because you know the game could be that much better since it shows polish in some areas but not in others.

For years I've been playing games like DMC & Bayonetta and thought "It'd be great if I could explore the city and do stuff. I wonder what it's like in this building". Platinum finally made a game like that which is a hybrid of their usual combat games, but it's a little diluted in several areas and doesn't outshine other games in any direction. Still quite an enjoyable experience, and it does have its epic boss fights
I agree, it does feel like a step down. Still better than most games, but a step down none the less. I give it a pass because it wasn't aiming to be a strict action game, that was never their intention, but it does get to me.
You only get a reward for 80% Red Matter cleared. There's no order/achievement bonus for clearing 100%. You do get bonus exp for clearing up matter, and the game even makes a little mini-game out of it, where you get more exp if you clean up a piece of red matter less than a second after the previous piece. The more red matter you clean up like this, the better.
What I thought was cool was that every once in a while the Arm's robot hand will fly off and literally pull an enemy close to you, looks like it's manhandling the enemy the way it holds its head in its palm. I don't know how to set it off doing it, just like I haven't figured how to properly parry with the Axe

Attached: 1567668126443.png (723x897, 101K)

i once had a file with 99 % red matter cleared ":)"

>most normies who played Bayo or DMC still say they have deeper combat systems
All you need to do is look at SkillUp’s video on nuGoW where he unironically says that GoW’s combat is deep and challenging unlike Bayo and DMC which are just button mashers and how many people argued with him.
Regardless, you’re right that I shouldn’t use normalfags as a benchmark but it all gets so tiresome.

I noticed he seemed to drag the enemies towards me every time I sent him out towards the shield enemies in training. Probably only works on smaller enemies like them.

>and forces the player to make choices.
I disagree. Cooldowns are a mechanic used to make the player think they are making a choice when in reality they’re just a lazy way to prevent the player from spamming their strongest move because they were too lazy to balance all of the moves too. The smartest thing to do 9 times out of 10 is to use your cooldowns ASAP so you can maximize their usuage.

>People complaining about the legions doing all the work
>On my playthrough Gladius mode was outdamaging my CX sword and C9 Arrow even into the endgame provided I dodged/perfect recalled at the right time and the legions ended up being mainly CC/aggro bots
What magic is this that the legions are apparently soloing the game for people

Wow, yikes. Maybe you should stick to walking sims.

But having the legion out at all already drains your meter, so that already makes it a choice.
Same as depleting it completely with a special having a negative impact on your legion being blocked for some time.

>but it's a little diluted in several areas and doesn't outshine other games in any direction
That’s pretty much how I feel too. The game is trying to do too many things at once so it ends up being unable to really excel in any of them. Still an enjoyable experience all together though.
It also has Marie so that gives it a few extra points

I hate to be an asshole and I really hope you don't consider me pining for a DMC clone when I say this, but DMC (and also bayonetta) literally solved the issue of spamming with devil trigger. Cooldowns are an inferior way of doing this and I don't really consider "oh yeah I guess that ability came off cooldown, I should use it now" to be compelling gameplay.

The people that suck and play the game on casual.

>transformers better than vanquish
>bayo at top, bayo 2 at bottom
>automata better than anything
Memeing faggot

Bayo 1 is better than 2 though

Nah, pointing out how other games solved similar issues is perfectly fine by me.

But I think the meter does solve that as well, either you use the special or get to actually use your legion.
That is what makes it fine, because using your special has a real price beyond just waiting to use it again immediately.

>euro hours

Transformers has its flaws but the kickass soundtrack and solid mechanics put it a step above Vanquish.
Bayo 2 is a complete chore to play and I'd rather replay any of the games above it, while Bayo 1 is in my top 4 games of all time.
Automata's overall better than the games I put below it.

Theyy're morons who don't understand how the game works.

>glaring flaws
More like minor nitpicks.

This game is better than the Bayos and MGR for the simple fact that an enemy attacking you is something dangerous that a player should fear rather than "WOOHOO FREE DAMAGE". The busted dodge/parry in Bayo and MGR completely ruins any fun the games had. There's a reason people meme Gracious and Glorious, because they're the only enemies in the game that challenge you.
While the game gives you a bunch of defensive options, none of them are as easy or exploitable as Dodge/Parry. Having a variety of ways to avoid enemy damage with all of them having positives/negatives makes for a deeper game where enemy danger is real rather than what we had with Bayo/MGR where the enemies are fat sacks awaiting punishment.

My gripe with this, however, is that some attacks have nowhere near the startup or tells that they should.

This game has a similar problem with perfect calls, but those aren't always perfectly safe, luckily the only one that locks you into it is Arrow where you do have I-frames while the others you can have the legion do it's sync attack while getting out of another incoming attack.

>bayo 1, with its insta death QTEs and half hour minigame every time you want to fight Jeane is not a chore to replay
>bayo 2, with at worst two bossfights that need you to do whar you shouls be doing anyway and a fucking co-op battle mode, is a chore
You may be retarded, but at least you've confirmed how ass-backwards your opinions are

>OH GOD YES NINTENDO MAKE LAPPY SHIT IN MY MOUTH MORE YOUR BAD FRAMERATE AND AWFUL CAMERA AND BAD PLATFORMING AND BILLIONS OF SCREEN CLUTTERING PARTICLES MAKE ME ROCK HARD BRRAAAAAAAAAAP

I never felt like the legion meter was ever a huge thing I had to micromanage. Occasionally I'd have to recall the legions for a bit before I let them out again, preferably with a perfect call. I mean, maybe in higher difficulties it's a bigger deal, but this is kind of a lose/lose situation, because unlike bayo/dmc, not having your legion out means you're missing out on core gameplay, so they couldn't really balance the legion meter like DT. It's just a bad compromise, but i have to wonder why they didn't just have the legion abilities rely on some meter that's generated through attacking, like the old DT. I guess too many meters to deal with or something?

I can acknowledge all those flaws but maybe its because I dont focus so much on them that I still have a damn lot of fun with it. The game having a lot of options also allows me to change the playstyle in many ways so if I ever feel frustrated with something I can just change it up again and I have fun again.
If anything I think Yea Forums tends to focus too much on the negatives of a game just to try and sound intelligent while forgetting about the great things a game does uniquely. This game is so unique that I dont feel like comparing it ONLY to other action games does it justice. And just by being unique it is better than 90% of games in the gaming industry that are derivative as hell.

Exactly, minor nitpicks.
Sound more like your are COPING poorly right now

My biggest issues with the game boil down to the way it controls, and not the gameplay itself. The poor camera and framerate ruin my ability to play the game more than the gameplay, by far. These problems are objectively bad and egregious. There's so many times where the game just shoved me into a wall and I couldn't see fucking anything, there is no excuse for this kind of issue in the 8th generation.

At least with Perfect Calls you have to recall first and lose the legion stats/is reliant on your Legion not getting hit to preserve legion energy rather than dodge/parry being able to be done out of literally any actions making nothing have any risk whatsoever.

If you use special abilities a lot, you can easily completely drain your meter and be left without your legion.

I think missing out on core Gameplay is a good punishment for spamming and ignoring your meter

That would have been too many meters for something the player is supposed to use pretty regularly and as counters in specific situations as well.
Not being able to dig up one of those invincibility fuckers because you need to fill the attack meter would be a huge problem.

The general consensus seems to be that it tried something very new, fucked up in some ways, and whether or not you'll like the game comes down to if you like the story and cop sections and if you enjoy the package enough to forgive its huge flaws

Not liking it isn't "trying to sound smart." People are trying to accurately convey why they don't like a game they thought they would like

>astral chain feels like a western action game, with low framerate, unresponsive controls, and COOLDOWN BASED SKILLS what the FUCK.
Wouldn't those things be more indicative of Japanese action games?

Historically, 60+ fps has been more common in western action games, though admittedly that is in large part due to PC background.

>A total of 5 or 6 instakill QTEs and a 7 minute long shoot em up section is worse than almost the entire enemy roster blocking and dodging most of your attacks outside of witch time, and the game in general being balanced around the overpowered umbran climax
Ok, retard.
And that's not even mentioning that enemies in 2 barely reacting to any of your attacks. A wicked weave uppercut won't even launch a mid-sized enemy!

Attached: Accurate.png (1090x734, 133K)

Not that user.
But if you consider those minor nitpicks, you must enjoy eating shit on regular basis.

Attached: 1542919884511.png (540x620, 403K)

>Every previous plat title had diminished movesets for offscreen enemies. Fuck, a game as old as God Hand had it
And that is a good thing how exactly?

Instead of coming up with some artificial band-aid, how about just implementing a functional camera so that you can actually see enemies around you?

Attached: 12388128123.jpg (201x201, 5K)

Definitely minor nitpicks, cry harder.

So hows the gameplay? I feel like ill be dissapointed coming off DMC 5 but thats a given. Can i upgrade legion at all? How diverse are they?

You would expect a fanbase that revels in being extremely hardcore to hate that shit.

This is why Hit Rush is so good to have because depending on the situation you can activate it and then instantly switch to another Legion so you can have two out at once, or use it as an opportunity to refill your meter while there's still a Legion out attacking and drawing enemy fire.

>>transformers better than vanquish
Vanquish is Platinum's worst game. They really should stick to making melee-focused games, because if Vanquish is any indication, they suck at making shooters.

Attached: 1223438994943.jpg (2000x1689, 839K)

Very good. Scratches a different itch from the other action games on the market, but don't go in expecting DMC level polish. And definitely don't go in expecting constant non-stop action because over half of it is interacting with NPCs and doing side quests.
You can upgrade all the different legions to give them special skill moves that are on cooldowns and regular directional input moves.
They're all pretty diverse and have unique uses in combat and outside of combat.

Made me fucking chuckle actually. Thanks.

Attached: 1499506222522.png (284x265, 98K)

Thanks man, yeah ive had my eye on the game since announcement and pretty much know what im getting into, its just the combat has never been fully detailed, even in youtube videos.and holy shit that sounds great, im guessing you cant switch on the fly? Either way thatll keep me interested for months if the bosses are fun.

the Raven postgame mission was super annoying, forced me to use battle items for the first time in the game, also I learned that they don't dodge guns

You can switch between legions on the fly. All 5 of them. As well as all 3 of your main weapons.
But if your legion is using an attack skill it will cancel that, unless it's hit rush which unchains them for a flurry of attacks.

>almost the entire enemy roster blocking and dodging most of your attacks outside of witch time, and the game in general being balanced around the overpowered umbran climax
So you didn't actually play the game and misinterpreted Yea Forums's complaints.
Cool story, bro.

Jeez, you'd think whoever made that image would atleast put in the effort to compare it to Gears Of War, what Vanquish was obviously emulating & improving upon.

Attached: 1363912534810.gif (300x169, 2.47M)

Only Lumen Sage and fuccboi supreme do that

Don't reply to it. The picture always gets posted when Vanquish gets mentioned on here. There's also a RE4 version of it.

Are post game mission all pure combat trials or are there more dumb puzzles and areas with shitty platforming?

Nice.

>Jeez, you'd think whoever made that image would atleast put in the effort to compare it to Gears Of War, what Vanquish was obviously emulating & improving upon.
And that helps your argument how exactly? Being better than something as awful as Gears of War isn't exactly an achievment.

Attached: 1542803428213.png (466x492, 187K)

I played it on wii u and even bought the switch version to see if they fixed anything. Only change was renaming 1st to 3rd climax as easy to normal.

Just beat File 11 and got a B rank overall, how do you change IRIS voices?

*Easy to Hard
But you know what I mean.

audio settings

this game is too fucking long holy shit just finished chapter 8 it was exhausting...

the first IRIS voice I found said it was a familiar voice but it was just the normal one sped up, are they all as dog shit? I think I later found one in ch 8 where it said it was a male..

I want one that sounds like Burroughs from SMT4

It's fairly long, don't try and do it in one sitting

>Bought the game off Amazon on Friday
>Have to eyeball any postage trucks that pass by until 9pm
Its going to be a long day

user...
That you felt so insecure you had to go boot up the game and screenshot it speaks volumes

>played through once
>silver
lmao

Because if I hadn't some fag would've said I was lying.
I only replay games I like.

I think I did alright. Ignore the S+ in the prologue though, I did that after beating the game to change the MC's gender, without that it's a B overall.

Attached: 2019090805302900-257FD939428E4BFE6BF9E2F559D5037A.jpg (1280x720, 180K)

I believe sending Arms out to an enemy is what makes it grab something like Nero's devil bringer. Axe will automatically parry light attacks if he's out and not guarding. I think Axe won't ever attack on his own, he'll only riposte after guarding an attack. Limitation is that he can't parry heavier attacks and he can be hit in his attack animation.

What's up with the Excavator order? I've dug up many items, but it's still at 0.

Attached: ED8V3o6UwAAFDKu.jpg (1280x720, 170K)

This is exactly how I feel. I'm considering selling this shit and getting control.

What it's counting is hidden items. Every File has a small number of unmarked dig spots that are tracked in file completion, it's the number next to the paw print.

Thanks

>missable shit that requires you to redo previous missions with legions you don't have on first playthrough
>arbitrary points of no return that lock you out of exploration of previous areas
This shit really brings back the latent Yea Forums rage from inside me. It's been a while since I've tried so hard to like a game while continuously getting rebuffed.

Attached: file.png (600x567, 157K)

Replaying the game is a platinum staple

I am not looking forward to all the boring ass talking segments just to get the 3% fucking redshift that I missed

You can skip cutscenes my dude

Is there any stat bullshit in this game?

I am fine with buying new abilities an such but if its another action game that gates progression with inflated HP/Damage it can go fuck itself.

The talking segments take like 3 minutes if you know what you need.

>missable shit that requires you to redo previous missions with legions you don't have on first playthrough
You weren't going to get a S+ on your first go so either you were going to redo the level anyway or you don't care about completion in the first place.

Yeah you can (and need to) upgrade your legions to increase their attack and defensive powers, your HP gets higher the more you play, your weapons get stronger too

There's stats but I haven't felt gated by them. It's nowhere near as big a deal as it was in transformers or automata.

I just finished chapter 4, so I'm not that far in, I guess, but I just got fucked over with the bomb defusal mini game, I accidentally cut two wires instead of one, and the game wouldn't allow me to reload to an earlier point because of autosaves. This means I either have to bear with it or restart the entire file, along with fighting the idiot in the training room, which is just a waste of time.

That was a blue case anyway, so not like it had any impact. unless you get some reward if you do it right. I wouldn't know since i fucked it up too.

I did it the right way on my Pt Ultimate playthrough and didn't get anything interesting, I think it just gives you more duty points if you do it correctly.

It's really hard to tell how much a success or failure of such a thing influences my overall score, the scoring system is way too obfuscated.

It's very simple user, only red cases are scored, blue cases are not.

Goddamn the pacing of this game is all over the place

Sometimes the cop stuff is a cozy comedown after a huge battle, other times it bores me to tears. And the astral plane "dungeons" have some pretty braindead puzzles that make things a slog.
But the hectic battles and curiosity to see what's next keep me going. I just finished File 6.

In a year or 3 when Yuzu devs finally get their shit together.

Oh. Well I feel kind of dumb for running around looking for cans for 10 minutes to raise my duty score then!

This game needs its own controller or something, it doesn't fit a standard dual pad

Attached: 2019090718131800-257FD939428E4BFE6BF9E2F559D5037A.jpg (1280x720, 139K)

I hate the fact that devs gave up on designing better controller layouts in the 7th gen. Kind of sucks that people stopped trying to innovate and all controllers are now 2 analogs 4 face buttons, dpad, 4 shoulder buttons, two control buttons

wtf bros I want to use dual gladius

Well, Sony tried, they're just fucking awful at making controllers and everything they do is a horrible nightmare. Like a rear touchpad.

Dude, I play Casual for my first run for a reason.

Where's the doujin of Brenda fucking Olive?

I can’t be the only one who think the Axe Legion is just clearly superior to the others right?

Attached: 2019090219260200-257FD939428E4BFE6BF9E2F559D5037A.jpg (1280x720, 172K)

>You end up wearing that suit.

You might be, I couldn't get used to how slow he was. I'm always trying to position enemies between me and the Legion.

>files 1 and 2 are shit
>file 5 has one of the worst bosses in the game and 100% has the worst platforming
>files 7 and 8 have the worst most tedious puzzles and downtime in the game
>file 11 is a whole lot of damage sponging with a cool ending
Why is a full half of the game terrible even if you like the combat

How do I get good at sword slash? Never seem to get it done in time

Just don’t.

>good music
>good graphics
>everything else terrible
damn

>file 5 has one of the worst bosses
Beast legion or deimos?
They both sucked ass, especially if Deimos stunlocks you against a subway car and the camera gets all fucked up

It's insane in Pt Ultimate because fire and the Beast environmental bullshit both one shot you.

Why do they bring up the that the twins are born under supernatural circumstances and then never address it again?

pretty sure this is a planned trilogy

That was a mistranslation.

>file 11 is a whole lot of damage sponging
I killed everything pretty quickly, including Noah. Upgrade your legions my man and don't forgot abilities

The mistranslation didn't amount to much, its really just "this is planned as a trilogy" to "if he game does well we would like to make it a trilogy",
So the difference isn't too spectacular really and plot points that didn't get too explained in this game could easily be expanded upon in a sequel.

Arm chimeras are hell.

You can see a few more details if you check Akira's entry on the database

the whole stealth section was FUCKING stupid

Who woulda thought that arrow legion would be the realest legion, he gets shit done.

>get fusion
>cool dude but what is it's movelist
>game has nothing
>from looking online it only has a mash move with no variation, a crap range move and a crap sphere move
what an absolute waste of something cool like that

Attached: 1537243527306.jpg (844x844, 91K)

Don't they explain it though? Sector 9 had a massive redshift outbreak, I think they mentioned it was because of the anti-redshift drug used at the time. Twins were born during that, and for some reason it gave them better affinity/sync rate for the legions/chimera. Their mother was probably starting to redshift before or during their birth. The details are mostly in those database files at start of file 10.

reminder that you can perfect call while in hitstun

What's the range move?

The mother fucker hits like a goddamn truck, took down the first homunculus boss before it could even start it's laser show.

Do you ever see Kyle again after File 6? He was the goddamn coolest and I want to see more of him

Attached: IMG_20190907_074408.jpg (1280x720, 157K)

i'm in file 8 but i've seen so much d no homo that i don't think i'll get another rank

L by default (the same button for using legion special moves) has you throw out some ring attacks that do piss all for the time you are allowed to be in that state.

Axe's ZL send out command is pretty strong and plants bombs, and its bomb skill had a short cooldown so you can alternate the two to kill stuff quickly without needing to attack much yourself. Also shield skill is really good.

End of the game shows him hanging out with Hal, hermits are good now and they're trying to fix their zone.

>Fight Alan again when redoing Files
>"No Legion okay?"
>Legion Fusion and kick his ass
Hilarious shit.

>Sequel has more Hal and Kyle is a combat buddy.
>The two of you will get to mash Chimera heads and Kyle will add a custom Hermit upgrade to your weapon for overclocking it.

I mean, Do you expect best dad to be awful?

People keep saying this, but here I am, spamming back+forward gun with Arm sync attacks, doing literally nothing else. And I drown in S+.

The way they designed Redshift was that you only need 80% to complete the Redshift-related orders, that way you don't need to obsessively hunt for every last scrap of Redshift in the level.

>best fight theme so far
>best fight so far
>best character so far
>have him show up only for one chapter

Attached: 1455130657146.png (665x663, 1017K)

Im wondering if one of the holo masks is kyles face, would want that.

What Chimera enemy do you most want a Legion version? I want one of the fliers with the bladed legs.

I think one of Kyle's concept art have him being a child in a suit, but another one is him being an adult with a holo mask

Honestly I really wanted one of the giant goliath dudes.

>tfw got 99% of it in either file 5 or 6

I know its not needed but I fucking scour every goddamn level for the fucking red floor juice and the fact that I missed a microbe of it once seriously pissed me off.

Looking back, there really aren't that many in terms of variety. You have a basic form like flying, floating heavy fist guy, beast, frog, humanoid and worm, then get varying designs that tend to have the same moveset.

I suppose that's true of Bayonetta and others as well, but these designs don't stand out as much do to the chimera style.

>L mode is your Legion carrying you on its shoulder while it thrashes about
>It can throw you

an example of getting out of those spinny attacks

Attached: perfect recall while in hitstun.webm (640x360, 893K)

I wish the fusion form had all the attack options we have in our base form

I wonder if different legions have different call timings, because I find doing perfect calls with axe legion very very lenient

may be just you, Axe Legion perfect call has a very distinct animation with the parry and the slowmotion

by the way
>axe legion
>obviously a sword
what did they mean by this

Attached: 1541832505337.png (1794x1222, 432K)

It's an Axe, look closer.

We really should have been able to choose which legion form we devil trigger'd into. Right now it's kind of a boring HULK SMASH mode.

It feels so different. Are there combos? I feel like the enemies don’t get stunned like other games. Is it just “hit them and don’t get hit” or is there crazy shit I can do?

I can see it in the image posted but in game it straight up looks like a huge fuck off sword

It looks the same in game.

Been playing over the last week, just got to chapter 4. At first I thought the combat was a little boring but now that I have 2 legion things are getting a bit interesting.

How many main game chapters are there and whats postgame content like?

11 story chapters with a lot of battle missions postgame, which have certain conditions

Any difference after the final boss if you choose all right, or I can't?

only which legion finishes off the job, Akira still dies

The Legion that kills him is different, that's all.

I do this too, but that's mostly so I can have my legions at 300+ on the gauge

The male version wouldn't suck so much if they didn't put that stupid effect on his voice.

They're should be the same. The timing wondow is getting hit within a few frames of calling the legion. When you press ZL to call, your character quickly glows with a blue outline. Getting hit during that glow triggers perfect call. Don't have a webm on hand but check this:
imgur.com/a/L34eDfX

first run was a D, had some C ranks though

How do I stop getting clapped by this guy? I can't seem to grasp dodge timing at all. Is there any hints I'm missing?

Attached: ED80q_5U0AA8pjA.jpg (1200x675, 148K)

Hug his ballsack and dodge roll under it and behind him when he starts to clap.

All combat trials. Have fun.

Dodge doesn't have Bayo i-frames so make sure you're dodging away from the attack rather than dodging into it and hoping the iframes make you live.

Have you tried perfect calling?

>chain jump across the abyss
>my fucking shoelace gets caught on a pixel of astral rocks so I bonk and die

I cannot be the only one experiencing how fucking annoying this is

Attached: 1425678228080.jpg (1280x720, 97K)

Just finished File 10 for the first time
Fuck me, this game is some next level shit

>C2-

How many fucking missions are there in File 12?

These guys are just hilariously easy to perfect call, Arm perfect call sync attack puts them in the air too

That part is great. The song also has a different singer for playing male vs female mc.

71. There's an order for doing them all.

idk and it triggers my autism more than it should

Attached: 1563499232881.png (894x914, 253K)

Legit hasn't been any issue for me at all.

How far do I have to get before I get the real movelist?

Only 3 files in but the endless dodge into basic combo string over and over with the odd chain wrap thrown in is already grating on me.

SOMETHING DEEP INSIDE, KEEPING ME ALIVE

I think it was supposed to be "longsword" or something but they changed it in translation.

Anyone else think this game is very similar to Deus Ex in a lot of ways?

Its mostly the ones where you have to rebound off 1 or 2 rocks. If its just a straight shot I can give up that my pathing was shit. But if my Legion can curve around the rock and get to the platform with no issue than I shouldnt either, but often times I'll get caught on the target area's natural walls and it frustrates me endlessly. Luckily there hasnt been as many in some of the later files but the earlier ones annoyed me greatly because of it.

r3 and dpad down dumbass

You best do some sick tricks with it, user.

What's different in Ultimate compared to Standard?

no item healing, no revivals, you take damage if your legion gets hit, opponent does more damage
Zandatsu healing is still ok though

I thought I wouldn’t be saying this but I love everything about the game except the story.

Playing this made me appreciate Xenoblade 2 story telling way more. Both of these have similar blade legion concept but Xenoblade 2 did the story so much better have way better more memorable characters. Xenoblade 2 actually explored the slavery theme of the chain.

I’m mad and sad. What couldn’t have been a perfect game. I’m not seeing much fan art for the game and now I know why.....the characters are not worth drawing. Xenoblade 2 outsold.

*what could have been a perfect game.

It's almost like they are different genres with different focuses or something.

Axe is better but requires more work.

How do I unlock the purple legion color? there's no purple in the custom color section but I've seen people with a purple+green EVA color

The fuckoff eva+jojo story makes me happy.

What does genre have to do with story telling?

Torna (xenoblade 2 dlc) which is the same length as AC has a better story. Platinum has no excuse.

Rex is better and has more character than anyone on Astral Chain LOL. that’s just sad.

Complete all training exercises

Well in XB2, Blades are decidedly people, there’s not really any discussion about that
In Astral Chain, Chimera are almost purely malicious in nature

Complete all of the training programs and it's the reward.

I feel like this is false flagging with how incendiary and hyperbolic it is

>Xenoblade 2
fucking gross. go back to your waifufaggotry.

>waah this capeshit story is too primitive for my 500 IQ brain
Dilate

ma’am.....blades are not people in XC2. See xenoblade 2 did such an amazing job that you somehow thought the blades are people.

The character and relationship building is WOW. Astral Chain simply cannot compare.

Attached: 68426D78-0F59-4400-B47F-335ADB7A3330.jpg (954x663, 79K)

I suppose when you play a game and compare it to another game it can make you feel ways. After playing Pokémon as a kid then playing other games for a bit and trying to go back to it I felt like Pokémon was the most ass backwards excuse for fun and I felt empty. It looks like this is that in reverse.

Say I'm looking to S + rank Mission 1. If I'm missing the S+ on the first segment, can I just do the first segment on S+ then quit out, will it apply for everything?

It saves your best ranking even after you go back to file select. Go nuts.

You could at least compare it to another Platinum game because there's nothing really in common with this game and XB2.
Wonderful 101 is also a platinum action game but also managed to have actual satisfying character arcs for at least 3 characters in the story compared to Astral Chain where most characters are sidelined and Akira's really the only character that does anything and even then their arc is really half-assed and rushed

Also I think the enemies have substantially more health. They get really tough.

Should I let my dick buy this game?

Attached: Screenshot_20190901-145302_DuckDuckGo.jpg (1080x1633, 1.18M)

Honestly there's really not much in the way of fanservice outfits or anything like that. You basically get one cop with huge tits, a rather tame medical outfit that shows stomach, and that's about it.

threadly reminder that the beast legion is cute

AC was developed with gameplay concepts first, then story added on later. XC2 was designed story first, gameplay afterwards. I like both for different reasons. You sound like falseflagging retard.

Except they are people in XB2
That’s why Jin is so angry all the time. It’s one of the themes of the game
In Astral Chain, the relationship between Legion and Legionis is meant to be explicitly antagonistic because one wants to convert the other into itself

god her pussy is so fucking big

Sure. Come for the butt stay for the game.

Attached: ED4eRJnVAAERrfE.jpg (1200x675, 105K)

Where are all the Slimes? I wanna get the Slime Slayer order so I can get Legion Color+, and I only have 9, 10, and 11.

You need to replay the game. Blades are not human. It’s more or less the same as chimeras. They are both companions to the drivers. Astral Chain just did a terrible job fleshing out its world.

It’s not strictly antagonistic like you suggested or else “fusion” mode made no sense.

You see blades in XC2 will also risk their lives to protect their owners. But did so in a meaningful fledged out story archs.

Stop replying to bait you fucking fools

>You need to replay a 200+ hour game to even compare to my bolstering 1 IQ
nah I’m good

Where the fuck is the Holo-Mask salesman in File 4 Harmony Square?

Check near the LARGER BURGER.

The epilogue in Astral Chain is absolutely garbage too. The one part where the story would actually have stakes and a meaningful sacrifice only to have Akira comes back to life AGAIN LOL.

What the fuck is this shiiite. Who at platinum thought that was good?

it's not the original Akira, it's a clone with most likely fragmented memories inserted from his legion

A lot are getting legion later

Who do I play as?
I want them to have a romance so should I go with the girl and make advancements?

Attached: my switch.jpg (1920x1080, 449K)

In a way I like that better
It’s easier but it still takes a lot of effort

>I want them to have a romance
What?

There’s not really much for fanservice except for Marie’s bouncing boobs and even then she still looks modest compared to anyone in NieR.

They're siblings. That's forbidden love. Go for female though, the one you don't choose does most of the talking in the game while you remain a silent protag, and male Akira does a much more believable job.

Girl hard core girl.

It’s better to have a little bro that wants to protect his sister but can’t than a bitchy jealous sister

They’re siblings, user.

There’s also just no implied romance at all in this game.

Stayed for the action

Female Akira's VA is good but being a girl really doesn't fit the script.

It is a wonderful ass.

>Reminder you can pet the beast legion
Cool
>Minigame to clean all the legions
Whoever came up with this needs to off themselves
It also feels like a piss take on the rubbing anime girls shit

based Godspeed on the guitar

Which is dumb considering this implies playing as the dude is canon.

That is not Akira, is a clone with their memories. Just imagine the ANGST it would happen if they learn that truth.

Does it really? They had to pick one for the illustration.

Quick question, did anyone NOT think he was a villain?

>>/vp/

Watch how the sequel pulls a octo-expansion and you "canon" fuckers are BTFO.

I'm assuming that they still needed to have the guy in the lead for marketing purposes, but my pet theory is that the director strongly preferred the girl. He's even playing as FeMC in his E3 showcase.

They couldve also done female for marketing purposes since automata shows sex sells.

Baying 1 is easily exploitable with some weapons, bayo 2 have better and more balanced variety that forces you to change weapons and git gud. In bayo one once I found the elemental claws that exploded the game became a boring slog in any difficulty

I feel they may leave Bayonetta as the fanservice franchise and this as the anime action franchise, kinda help differentiate their games to a layman viewing them.

I don't think anyone believes for a second that there's a single "canon" choice. If this gets sequels, they're going to bring back character customization for sure.

I liked the game in the end but the initial trailer having the twins talk in sync made me think the game was going to head elsewhere but turns out they just played both clips at the same time for it only.
I think I would have found it cooler for them to have ended up in sync like legions. (also also for your own fucking character not to be mute)

God the Raven armor is so sexy.

Feels like the silent protag thing was a hold-over from when the game was meant to be an RPG, would've liked both siblings to talk because a lot of the more emotional scenes fall flat.

Well they've still got the girl's butt on the cover.
Although I'd strongly argue that 2B isn't the protagonist of her own game. You're probably right in that everyone bought it because her butt became a meme though.

The good thing is that you can restart a file from a mission checkpoint and jump back out once you get the item or finish the objective you missed.

Upgrade your baton to get more moveset stuff for your player. Upgrade your legions to start getting skills and command moves for them. The game is closer to W101 than Bayonetta in that you have a fairly simple set of moves but switching around legions and making use of their various skills and options is where the depth comes from.

How the fuck are you suppose to S+ rank Akira unchained? I got 9928 and i'm fucking seething

I feel like I'm missing something fundamental. I'm getting D's in every single mission.

Bayo, MGR and W101 all clicked pretty much instantly but I'm not getting this at all. Do you need to approach combat in a completely different way to other platinum games or something?

>being a girl really doesn't fit the script.
The whole "Second twin goes Edgelord and get used by the big villain as a tool" is honestly much more feating for MAnKira.
Especially when you look at how bad Raven's armor looks on the girl, because it still got MAnKira's neck.

Plus, Dark Hero with fem vocals is the best version.

>Especially when you look at how bad Raven's armor looks on the girl, because it still got MAnKira's neck.
Plus I didn't even realize the twist because the ravens were all men so it didn't set off any red flags

If you go back and redo a chapter from the computer in the headquarters when you finish do you have to rego thru to the next chapter or does it take you back to current chapter after you redo the mission?

Astral chain wants you to do all options available, not getting hit is usually not a requirement for not getting S+

Don't worry about using items or taking hits its all about how varied your style is and how much you use your Legions abilities.
Take your time in combat, don't rush down the enemy take your time and bind, counter, headshot and backstab them.

You go back to file select and get the option to back out to your current chapter

Ah, that'll be it, I've just be doing the standard autocombo into legion and dodge into legion and focussing on putting out damage and taking none. Cheers.

>Plus, Dark Hero with fem vocals is the best version.
The guy they got for the male vocals is fucking awful and I don't know what they were thinking

Myself, and literally everyone I've seen play the game called it the instant he appeared on screen. It's so fucking obvious.

Did we ever figure out where the hoodie was? Someone said File 8 but never explained where.

That is why i said "pull an octo-expansion" which is that you are asked to define what the last game protagonist was. For example, the new MC could be a fully customizable template, who is another orphan who was born from a redshiffing mother and have the super compatibility with legions, they join the force to help take back the continent and at some point you meet "the hero" but before that a new custom screen opens.

I think that was just a shitpost but I haven't checked yet.

where do i get the skinsuit lads?

Really wish you could take the helmet off. Would love to wear the Hermit mask with the rest of the armor.

>keep getting 95-97% cleanup
I don't know if I should be happy or furious with this result.

Wipe your butt and save the toilet fairy

do you have to restart the current chapter?
I just got arm legion and want to go back and get a few of those missed missions

All you need to getting an order success is 80%+ anyways.

I think to get a 100% you have to get every single red matter in a room in an instant, because speed does matter.

Yes. Just wait until postgame.

>hand

Sick of games that have a "good" character look obviously evil and is, I need more dickhead looking characters in games that are actually not dickheads.

I wish they’d make a downloadable reverse cover that Fem hero Male Akira

Please respond, do you even get points from fighting the raven?

If you quit out of the current story chapter you will have to start back at the beginning of it. Just finish the chapter you are on first, then at start of next chapter you can use the PC to replay a previous one.

In Japan they like silence MC because you’re supposed to speak for your character
In America your character speaks for you

Wasn't the older sister in that game implied to be fucking the director for Rachels plans or whatever?
God Eater 2 is a mess.

FACTS

So ultimate mode is the true mode of the game where you have to protect your legion and your MC at the same time while.

I knew this game would be hard as fuck if you had to actiually play both legion and MC simultaneously and avoid damage and fight and maneuver them both

I thought it was because it would cost money for the VA to speak more lines

It was so ridiculously obvious that he was evil that I almost expected them to subvert expectations by ultimately making him good. But subtlety isn't exactly PlatinumGames' thing.

>I think to get a 100% you have to get every single red matter in a room in an instant, because speed does matter.
Wait, what? The percentage is based on how quickly you collect them? Does that mean you could technically collect all of it but not get 100% because you didn't get it fast enough?

It does but it’s like capes.

Originally made as an lazy clutch for comic books artists ended up being a staple of the genre

I was hoping he'd ultimately good, but Astral Chain's story simply doesn't respect the player at all. It has no desire to surprise or impress you. I actually was stunned when your chasing Douglas in Chapter 6 and you see the security footage of Jena and Douglas exchanging words, then Hal goes "AH THE FOOTAGE IS TOO MESSY I CAN'T SEE WHO DOUGLAS IS TALKING TO". Like come on give me a fucking break.

Apparently Nintendo went up to Platinum and said "this shit ain't anime enough, let's put some insert songs in there" and they went to Avex to pick out singers.

The American way is so superior to the Japanese way it's hilarious. Every time we get a silent protagonist in Japanese games it disappoints me. They want to thave these epic huge stories where the MC is an integral character but is also silent for you to self-insert into. That just doesn't work.

Meanwhile compare that to New Vegas where you're just some guy/girl who was asked to carry out a job.

>you speak for your character
Do you?
>Hal wants to go to dangerous illegal place
>you have absolutely no stake in going yourself
>if you get hurt or caught all of humanity is fucked
>he even says as much himself
>OBJECTIVE: GO TO DANGEROUS ILLEGAL PLACE
I wanted to tell him to fuck off

I dont think the raven part counts, I didnt get the chain bind bonus from it. You can get a couple bonuses in first phase of the boss fight, such as perfect calls. Not sure if you could spam for sync master in that time. You might have to try to not get hit at all for the 5000 point bonus.

I havent played in a long while but thats the director for the moving base, a completely different character. The posted dude helps you to the end despite looking like a typical anime villain.

I knew the moment you got jailed they would let you go because of some fucked up shit is happening and they need you and lol
>sirens go off

>tfw no alternate path where you go Jena's way

I know I'm just sayin' is all.

They'd have to trash the gameplay mechanic if you went her side so makes sense why they didn't.

It almost makes Bayonetta's story look like a masterpiece in certain ways. At least that game threw some sort of interesting curveballs.
The story of astral chain felt more like a vehicle for setpieces, but it also put more emphasis on it than other PG games.

Can you get headshot? Cause fuck trying to not get hit

>suck up all the red matter in sight like a vacuum
>45%!
What the fuck, who came up with this trash mechanic

>he doesnt have his toucan sam vision active 99% of the time

I feel like using the legion is a bit clunky.

First phase is immune to damage so I don't know. Just have to try things. Maybe the bonuses for using legion skills and command inputs could work.
