Why is Yea Forums so obsessed with ape escape?
Why is Yea Forums so obsessed with ape escape?
I've always thought it was a lesser 3D plarformer compared to the bigger games of the time, like Spyro, Banjo, Mario, etc.
I never understood the appeal. There's nothing remarkable about it.
These are wrong opinions.
Ape Escape has a fantastic aesthetic and soundtrack, and gameplay above at least Spyro and Banjo. The gadgets lead to great level design and tons of replay-ability, even with a persistent save file.
Its also bursting with Japanese charm which is something rare in collectathons.
2 is the best one. monkey soccer is the greatest minigame in the series
It had an interesting control system and even had a fighting\ mini game spin off that work well
>gameplay above at least Spyro and Banjo
that's not a high bar
>The gadgets lead to great level design
they don't
>tons of replay-ability
artificial replayability because they force you to go back to old levels to get one or two monkeys that were previously unattainable. that's bad game design.
Ape Escape 2 is in my top 5 games.
>monkey soccer is the greatest minigame
>20th anniversary no new game
Well this suck
game is so fuckin good
aside from the fact that it is canon being hilarious, metal gear games arent fun and that one doesnt have the writing that makes the real ones good
I like 3 because it's the most cute and funny of the three.
Ape Escape 1 is honestly one of the best games of all time, 20 years later and it still feels like the only game to truly take full advantage of dualshock controls.
okay retard
Very few enjoy the game.
Most just like the Loli character in 3
Bait. The monkey catching was really satisfying and as said, it's loaded with charm.
I've played through all the games and I look back on them fondly.
Yumi isn't without allure, but she's more of a bonus than the main draw.
It's a tech demo for the analog sticks. The charm died when dual sticks became the norm on consoles and now it's just the second most awkwardly designed 3D platformer. The first one being Croc.
I still love the Pipo monkeys as a mascot though.
Well personally i literally grew up replaying ape escape 2 and the simpsons hit and run over and over so i have a huge amount of love for the series. Even with huge nostalgia for 2 i can agree that 3 is better in every way.
I wasn't saying the game was bad,. I love the series. But most threads I see on here for it just turn into yumi threads
Based
Gotcha.
I've been a nintendofag all my life. I remember I had an N64 and my best friend living next door a PS1. One of the very few games he had that I slightly envied was Ape Escape. What can I say, it was fucking fun to chase the monkeys, and catching them felt satisfying. Also, the monkeys were absurdly funny.
Yea Forums is not a person, and few people here are actually "obsessed" with apr escape.
>artificial replayability because new tools
Dimwit.
