Mostly got tired of the gimmick of the game play. After 20+ hrs of it in the first game I booted up the second and it was just the same stupid sidequests with the same shifting.
Convince me to play this game again. does the second ever go deeper into the story behind Kat and Raven, where those cute lil shifting animals come from, what the deal with the tree is, and why gravity storms are a thing?

The second focuses mostly on Kat because they considered Raven's story mostly concluded. The worldbuilding is explored further in some directions but opens up more questions in other directions. Unless you're very interested in the story, it's probably too much investment to get into and have it feel rewarding. The build up can come across as slow, and the pacing of the story is jumpy.
