Yes
It was for the first half of the game, but like most JRPGs it fell off a cliff near the end
It is, ending part is kinda weak but overal an extremely solid game
It's not anime enough, luckily the Definitive Edition will fix that.
Overrated but still very good.
It's underrated, though.
Kys you weeb, go play xc2
I never played the original but I kinda want to play it instead of the new version. I have this fetish for low poly and low res games. Even MGS Peace Walker looks better than the Phantom Pain in my opinion. I love it when a game looks optimised and doesn't take up a lot of space.
It was good.
I'd say it sagged in the middle really badly and then picked back up in the end.
The music was.
Best track coming through.
youtube.com
It was literally the only decent RPG on the wii so nintendo fans cling to it
My nintendofag friends claims to be a huge Monolithsoft fan and bought all the games after playing xenoblade but hasn't actually beat any of them
people only like it for muh feels
I like it for muhnado
kek
The ending sucks ass.
Is there a single interesting location after Eryth Sea? I just remember the game becoming a slog after that part.
Valak
Eh, I wasn't a big fan of that location. Everything looked the same, and it just wasn't impressive or interesting to look at like the earlier locations were. It was better than Sword Valley or the factory areas at least.
I personally hate xenoblade chronicles and I feel like the game gets way more praise than it deserves
>The area are huge but are not fun to explore, it takes forever to go anywhere because everything so big, quick travel is like a band aid put on a gaping wound
>This becomes especially a problem when you have to find an NPC in order to accept or clear a quest because the NPC move around
>The combat is a chore, everything is automated, you just stare at the trifecta of tank/healer/DPS do their thing, and no that whole thing about toppling enemies get old fast
>The gimmick where you predict the future and give a single order to an AI member is dumb
>As you get near the end the plot becomes fucking ridiculous, every single dumb JRPG trope get rammed into the plot with the finesse of an elephant
I honestly think most people who dig xenoblade do so because they hate traditional RPG and think these single player MMO abomination like FF12 are somehow better or because they were part of that operation rainfall campaign who berated nintendo to bring the game for month
Arc rise fantasia is unironicaly a better game
Holy based.
No, the definitive edition is.
Agreed, but Eryth Sea's night theme is just as good imo.

>first 10 hours? KINO
>the second 15? Mediocre.
I dropped it. XC2 is a way better game overall, but I'm happy to give it another try once DE comes out.
>Not the superior day time version
youtube.com
This. XC1 is good but people pretending it was more profound than 2 are fucking delusional.
I enjoyed it when play first, but now I'm starting to play again, and this game seems incredibly boring.
Yeah, because unlike so many others the plot stays strong all the way through. Looking at you, XCX and XC2.
Absolutely not
Gameplay is garbage and full of grindy ass fetch quests, crafting, trash UI, story is literally nothing but a string of anime JRPG cliches, only succeeds in visuals and music
> unlike so many others the plot stays strong all the way through
You can't be serious. XC1 is the most inconsistent of them all. At least XCX doesn't give a fuck and makes that known to the player. XC1 frequently made me wonder how often could they keep changing the genre of their story.
The visuals and exploration, as well as the vistas are excellent. And music, yes. That's pretty much everything a JRPG needs to be excellent. There is not a single JRPG that has a good story.
>The area are huge but are not fun to explore, it takes forever to go anywhere because everything so big, quick travel is like a band aid put on a gaping wound
They are fun to explore though, it's immersive and awe-inspiring to run around the monumentous areas with giant creatures. It never got boring, especially with the incredible music to keep you pumped. If you don't like it that's one thing, but why are you complaining about fast travel? It exists to cater to ADHD fags like you.
>This becomes especially a problem when you have to find an NPC in order to accept or clear a quest because the NPC move around
Now I know you're retarded. The game literally tells you their specific schedule and location if you open the menu.
>The combat is a chore, everything is automated, you just stare at the trifecta of tank/healer/DPS do their thing, and no that whole thing about toppling enemies get old fast
You are playing the game wrong. There are near-infinite strategies to come up with, considering the hundreds of different arts, pairings, gems and skills. You just have no imagination or creativity so it's no wonder you got bored doing the same thing throughout the whole game.
>The gimmick where you predict the future and give a single order to an AI member is dumb
Didn't you just complain about the combat being "automated"? So now you're complaining that giving orders to your teammates is dumb? Hmm.
>As you get near the end the plot becomes fucking ridiculous, every single dumb JRPG trope get rammed into the plot with the finesse of an elephant
That's what makes the story fun. I can understand why some people wouldn't like that aspect, but the game boldly wears its heart on its sleeve and its an unforgettable experience.
>There is not a single JRPG that has a good story.
*blocks your path*
>That's what makes the story fun.
The XC1 fans who shit on 2 clearly didn't get the memo because to this day they are screeching: "IT WAS TOO ANIME".
>Why are you complaining about fast travel
Because everytime I complain about how the map is pointless big some retards point out that fast travel is a thing as if it's some catch-all solution
>The game literally tells you their specific schedule and location if you open the menu.
And it doesn't really help, why the fuck do I have to hunt an NPC in the first place? Why can't they just stay where they are? Or I can quick travel directly to an NPC?
Or have a quest building where I can accept quest?
Or better yet turn the quest automatically?
It's even sillier because some quest DO turn themselves automatically
>You are playing the game wrong.
I beat the game and the only time i was even a bit in trouble was against that big bird boss near the end, im not playing the game wrong, the game is badly designed, my party was dunban/carla/shulk by the way
>Didn't you just complain about the combat being "automated"? So now you're complaining that giving orders to your teammates is dumb
I'd like to give my teammates order all the time, not when the game randomly decides it would be a cool thing to do
that combat system tho...
/yawn
It's very good in the first 2/3. It's main strengths lie in how it opens and maintains momentum, as well as its brisk pacing and story telling
I prefer XB2 but it's a bit more niche so I recommend most people to play XB1 first
>100 hour game
>this one cutscene makes it all bad
ok i believe you
>One optional cutscene that you only unlock if you draw a certain blade and decide to level it up enough
FTFY.
oh haven't played the game yet just tired of seeing this webm
Why is it shitposted about so much, then?
Because it's shitposting
because of literal autism, like the mental illness and not the funny kind
Persona 1 and 2 have much better stories than this trash heap and unlike this game, they don't make you sit through 60-120 hours of tedious auto attack gameplay to see them (and yes I know P2's gameplay is still tedious but it didn't drag out long enough to make me quit playing)
xenoblade's gameplay, while flawed, is still lightyears ahead of the average FF game. 12's combat was a lot better than the turn based FF games except for maybe X-2
>except for maybe X-2
Kek
X-2's combat is great by FF turn based standards. Shame about the everything else
It's... ok? The scale of the world is amazing, the graphics being on a Nintendo Wii of all consoles back at the time is beautiful, soundtrack is a piece of art itself... but then we have the characters that are fine but sadly really unbalanced and few of them you probably will never use in your team, the story goes really strong for 3/4 of the journey, but the final sprint has a feeling of rushed, few plot points become forgotten, and the game is really, REALLY grindy. You are kinda forced to hunt for every side quest possible to speed up your level up and still there are A LOT of them to do. And combat system is really clever, but gets really frustrating on few bosses that punish you for doing the strategy that works on everything else, which are most optional bosses so it's not that bad.
So yeah, good game, not perfect and you do need a lot of free time to truly enjoy it.
give me one reason how the game story didn't drop in quality at Prison Island
Who was that one NPC from XCX where he took a bunch of Ma-non up a cliff and tried killing them? There was a mission about it.
it drops in quality after mechonis core, not prison island
>The game forcing you to switch up playstyles is bad
Alex I think
It drops in quality after Eryth Sea.
Of the 3, XBC is probably the 2nd best.
I preferred Last Story, but we will never see a port of it
I think Melia was the weakest character. She was only necessary in 2 or 3 boss fights. Actually never mind, I don't think I used Rikki at all, he was probably the worst.
It's not the switch of playstyles, but how it does it. I don't remember anything that points out what you are doing are causing damage back at you until the characters are already dead
It’s an acquired taste
melia is the single strongest character in the game. Riki is the best healer
Alex was based and redpilled.
Yes.
green damage ticks = spike
no, he was a retard
>I hate aliens in NLA because they'll fuck with us
>now let me assist these definians
>the best healer
I really hope the definitive edition comes out early 2020 and not later than summer.
I've been wanting to play it for a long time and was actually just about to buy it when they revealed this definitive edition.
Currently playing XB Chronicles X and have already completed Chronicles 2
Is Torna good?
sharla "killer of chain attacks" sucks, riki's heal is all you need and he offers way more
torna is good but worse than the base game. It's best played as a story supplement between chapter 7 and 8
Yes, make sure you played it in between Chapter 7 and 8.
Melia and Sharla are the 2 who suffers the most, later game you probably want to finish combat as fast as possible so having Sharla will only stall, and she will die most of times, and Melia you can feel even the team that developed the game completely forgot about her, she's really has nothing that others can't do better and everything in the story is to bite her and she gets nothing back! Her whole existence was suffering!
X-2's gameplay is consistently praised by almost everyone who played it as one of the only good things about the game fucking newfag.
Since I've already played Chronicles 2 does it really matter? Can't I just play it before the main game when I do my replay?
Stop using "anime" as a adjective you fucks
Find a flaw.
Sharla I can agree on, but you're completely wrong with Melias combat effectiveness. She is actually one of the if not the strongest character in the game. It's just a little bit harder for her to perform good than it is for other characters.
Also the AI fucking blows with her, so either you control her, or don't put her into your party at all
yeah that's fine
>the strongest character in the game.
they fixed the AI on melia/shulk with 3ds. presumably going to be fixed in DE as well
Yeah I was unsure if it was Dunban or her, but they offer different things. Dunban is the best tank and can be a great damage dealer, while Melia provides support while dealing damage
She's not real. :'(
melia is the best character in the game for two reasons
1. consistent forced topple
2. 3 talent art uses to chain between colors in chain attacks
Thanks for reminding me to add more to the injure you cannot put Melia and Shulk in the same team since they both have the most retarded AI of the whole game!
>Yea Forums WILL defend this
Xenoblade 2 was better in pretty much every single department, especially characters.
>XB2
>Better aesthetic and music
Chances of them adding a bestiary to the game for mobs that you already have seen?
If they are changing the Character Styles to be more like XBC2, then what was the point in having those shitty XBC1 characters at the end of XBC2?
music is in the same level in all 3 games, maybe X a little below if you are not fan of game songs with lyrics
Not a single user on Yea Forums likes this game. So no.
X has the best OST.
youtube.com
Fiora looks better in the new one, as does Metal Face
Mechonis always looks good
The only one that's debatable is Shulk
>that little stop followed by the chorus
I think my ears had an orgasm right now
I can't. Just like all other Nintendo re-releases, they don't actually remodel anything except a few characters. Everything else is just a new texture with new lighting slapped on. Pathetically lazy.
Not only is it lazy, but it's garish and downright ugly. The characters are more anime like, which is a mistake itself, but it clashes against the relatively realistic backdrops. It's bad.
The original doesn't look great either, but at least it was consistent and was respectable for its own time, not to mention incredibly ambitious.
>The original looked like shit on the Wi-
I hate anime so god damn much
Great game but I fucking hated Sylvalum, worst continent by far. Everything in sight just wants to kill you and it's no fun to traverse through at all.
Oblivia>Noctilum>Primordia>Cauldros>Sylvalum
Speaking of soundtrack, I wonder if they created mor ardain theme for a boss battle and a mad man decided to put as the overworld theme for no reason, I have no other explanation to have such an energetic theme so out of place
youtube.com
and I fucking love it!
Stepping onto the Bionis' Leg for the first time is one of the greatest memories I have of vidya.
How can XBC2fags even compete?
Seriously, this is the exact point you stop and wonder how massive is this whole thing
They can't.
No, gameplay is generic and questing is a pain.
But the artistic design is pretty good and the music is great, plus it's a generic jrpg story but it's well directed and cutscenes are great to watch.
Honestly, every game looks fantastic when you put it in a grid like that.
I don't get it though. Is the Bionis literally just a giant, humanoid-shaped earth? Just a really odd-shaped planet?
pretty much, except its interior is different
It's made even greater by the music you'd hear if you arrived in the day.
youtube.com
It honestly made me think that this place is fucking massive. It's kind of a shame the image here shows those large curved rock structures as something you can't climb, I honestly thought another area would let me access them but I guess I was wrong.
I still can't believe they pulled this off on the fucking Wii U. It's all seamless too. Are the devs godamn wizards?
>gameplay is generic
Name three (3) other JRPGs that play like Xenoblade.
In Sylvalum most enemies don't actually attack you unless you're in a mech
It's more of a giant land mass shaped as a titan standing on a planet covered in water, at least is what I assume from the opening cutscene
Torna is like a streamlined version of 2. It's simpler but only because it's shorter so it didn't need as much shit as XC2.
The story is okay, on par with the other Xeno games. Do a lot of sidequests as they are necessary for finishing the game.
The night arrangement is superior, you absolute pleb.
youtube.com
I thought the water was just this universe's equivalent of space. Just a great, empty vastness that has always existed and stretches endlessly.
>but at least it was consistent and was respectable for its own time, not to mention incredibly ambitious.
It was consistent with the visuals but not the story. The art style made me think it would be something serious but then it quickly became just your standard shonen. This style fits it much better.
I haven't played X in about a year. I think I'm around chapter 10. Is it worth relearning how to play and finishing?
Yes.
Post money shots of XC1.
I love this game because it actually felt like they were trying to make something unique and special, despite all of its flaws. XCX2 is alright but it's so safe and dumbed down.
Is Eryth Sea peak aesthetic?
>getting nostalgic over a fucking Wii game
Name a comfier location.
It does have some things I wish other jrpg's would have.
Enemies stop attacking you after you reach a higher level. As result I'm not constantly attacked by low level shit whenever I'm backtracking.
There are still strong monster roaming in the earlier areas so even if the player is no way stronger then every monster, they still shouldn't keep their guard down.
The many sidequests and unique npc's make the world feel alive. though I do think there are a little too many sidequests.
I liked it how you would recieve xp for discovering landmarks. Encouraging the player to explore the world.
I bought the game when I was 14. I'm 22 now. That was over one third of my life ago, so suck my cock, nigger.
What do I win?
How can a disgusting swamp look so pretty?
It's a 9 year old game.
This area's design single handedly made grinding countless quests for Monado Eater bearable.
Good art direction and soul.
What area is this?
It's my personal best game of all time.
Makna Forest towards the beginning.
What's your top 3?
Divine Sanctuary.
Fuck, I don't remember that at all.
>We will never get a Xenoblade game with Xenoblade 1's world but X's exploration.
The area is underutilized because of cut content.
IIRC you were supposed to traverse the waterfall to make it to the Bionis Shoulder, which would then be the route you take to Eryth Sea...but the shoulder was cut so you never did much with the waterfall zone.
I expect it to be in DE
I'm assuming you're referring to aesthetics because X had a better world, from a gameplay point of view.
No I mean in literal terms.
Exploring the entire Bionis with no cutscenes, big landscapes, with a reliable and fun to use form of transport.
I hope they keep the Britjank kino voice acting for the remaster.
We've already heard the voice acting. Why would they change it?
There is going to be new dialog.
And why would they pay to redo the entire game's dialog when all they need to do is record the new lines?
It's so beautiful, Yea Forumsros.
youtube.com
They'd have to be a bunch of jokers to change it.
Obviously, I'm referring to the new dialog. I hope that they get the original voice actors for all the new dialog.
Do you honestly think, for even a single solitary second, they would get rid of the most distinguishing thing about this game? Are you retarded?
>lets hire actors that sound different. That won't sound out of place at all
>Implying remasters haven't done that before
>Tfw that mission where you have to sneak past the T-Rex
>Walking into Nopon city for the first and seeing those huge ass high level monsters just wandering about below the bridge
Man, the forest's atmostphere of all these high level monsters that will completely kill your ass was great, Ghar Plains just had that easily avoidable gigant wandering around, those wolves and those Triceatops, they weren't so much as intimidating as an annoying road block
I never went into the marsh at night or during fog but I hear in the fog there's these big ass lions and at night gigant hairy spiders
it's not good. it's okay, but it's too long, the story sucks, the characters are bad, and the fetch quests being a core mechanic of progression is awful. it's not bad, though.
I've always found the game really overrated. I love the concept of the world of XB1, but traversing it was always a pain. Outside of questing and completionism, there's not much incentive to explore most of the zones. The battle system is fun at first, but there aren't enough "external" mechanics to really diversify the combat or challenge the player. As it is, the combat is just a cooldown simulator with visions being complete pace/tone breakers. As for the narrative, I found the storytelling boring. Any intricacy the story of XB1 may have is completely lost on me as I find the delivery and pacing terribly drab.
>the story sucks, the characters are bad
Nice try, Eric.
Did I strike a nerve?
The bigger problem in the swamp at night is the level 70+ birds flying around.
Now this is kino.
Yes. 2 is even better. X is fucking amazing.
It’s a giant that your party lives on.
Last one.
