No, but I thoroughly enjoyed it when I played. I don't really go out of my way for secrets/100%ing games.

I heavily recommend at least looking them up online. They reveal a lot about the story and help clear up some things.

At this point I'm convinced they never had plans to make a sequel and just want to keep rereleasing ports of the original game over and over with more sequel bait each time to make original fans keep buying the game

Nomura saying the game needed sales for a sequel was to shift the blame onto the fanbase. Final Remix would've cost fuck all to make.

Final Remix had so many bugs and problems to boot. It’s like Square didn’t even care when it came to porting the game.

And A New Day was short and reused loads of assets and two of three bosses. It was nothing more than a quick cash in.

I think what helps it is how we get to see Neku positively change as a character thanks to his partners and how the friendship itself is a literal game mechanic.

I’m of the belief that it was his ability to interact with Shibuya. He’s never shown leaving the Dead God’s Pad and considering how detached he comes across when it comes to humanity, that might play a factor in why he was so eager to brainwash the citizens.

Funny, since I personally loved the gameplay. Getting a feel for the dual screened gameplay was great, especially when you get adept at passing the puck.
