The original obviously looked worse graphically, but the remaster just makes Fiora look like a generic copy-pasted anime girl. It looks "better", but it's less unique and memorable -- soulless.
Metal Face looks badass though so I'm hopeful for this remaster.

A generic art style isn't a pro or a con. The original game was great IN SPITE of it's ugly character models. So many aspects of Xenoblade elevated it to greatness.

It's not the artsyle that bothers me, it's the character design. They could've re-done Fiora in the anime style without changing the shape of her face and hair, but instead they made her face look far less distinguishable than before. More distinct character designs are always better.
