Undertale just did it's own thing. It was a fun little experience if you were able to let loose, granted some things about it are abit confusing. Like how monsters manage to survive at all when they are so utterly weak to humans and why they would ever want to return to the surface world when a single child can go through their entire home and slaughter them all if they so see it. Still it had its charm and tugged heart strings if it was up your alley. Its harmless at worst and a super short classic at best. I honestly cant see why v is in such a panic about it. It's a fuckin mii skin.

You'll find this on literally every board though, because the majority of people that post on Yea Forums are manchildren and edgelords. That's also not to put down anyone who actually played the game and didn't like it, however. You can like the game without being a basedboy and you can dislike the game without being a contrarian.

The problem with memes is that they run the risk of desensitizing true fans to why they enjoyed whatever medium is being memed on in the first place
Undertale is a good recent example, and Earthbound is a slightly less recent example
