Why do people keep saying second wave? There's been literally no mention of more DLC after these five.

During the Direct, Sakurai confirmed that additional characters are being developed after the Fighters Pass is complete. He then cried for a couple minutes before showing off how Banjo can pick up his own grenade and damage himself, but he has to do it many, many times before it will kill him.

my personal theory is that Wave 1 was fully commited to Third Party characters; but the second one is completely dedicated to Switch titles.

Think about it this way : We do know that Pirahna Plant was due to be released along all of the base Roster - but it wasn't the only one. Rex from Xenoblade 2 was also in development before the Fighter Pass got announced; but had to be cut short to a Mii Costume in order to not interrupt the trend of Third-party characters of the Fighter Pass.

Methinks the next ones might be the biggest sells of the Switch - Xenoblade 2, Fire Emblem Three Houses, Astral Chain, and whatever's the most popular Pokémon G8 starter.

I think they're making up shit as they go along and reacting to feedback - and more importantly, sales. Nothing is locked in, at least not in advance.

As much as I would like a down+B that switches legions, we'd really just end up with every special using a different Legion in reality. But as much of a zero chance there is that Howard would get into smash, their moveset does honestly lend itself pretty well and would probably end up being a pretty fun character. Kinda like Rosalina and Luma. If it did let you switch legions they could also make the specials somethign like:
>Down+B to switch legions
>B sends the legion in the direction you tilt the stick afterwards.
>Side+B uses the legions signature ability
>Up+B jumps you to the Legion
and then all the normals would be an attack from both Howard and the Legion.

I imagine it as Akira not having any B moves of his/her own- they're all performed by the Legion. But you have a meter that decreases as you perform the moves, and if you let it empty out you're stuck with normals for a while. Like Rosalina and Luma, but with the risk/reward factor cranked up.

That would be nice, but nice things don't happen.
Next DLC of the second wave will probably be some Granblue Fantasy character.

I'm really expecting the worst and have no faith in the second batch.

To add to this, the opponent should be able to hit the Legion during the endlag of their specials if the attack misses, decreasing the limiter meter significantly, severely punishing players that are careless with their specials.

Up b (this ine is kinda long but i hope i make it clear) move the sword legion kinda like you can in game so the up b will take a sec or two cause you have to position it but it can move in 8 directions like teleport but youre dragged across instead
Maybe neutral A summon arm legion and do the ora ora thing i couldnt think of any special moves for that one
