Why couldn't Jesse's psychiatrist find the existence of a poet named Thomas Zane? I thought he was famous?
Also how do you open all those sealed doors?
Why couldn't Jesse's psychiatrist find the existence of a poet named Thomas Zane? I thought he was famous?
>Also how do you open all those sealed doors?
Which doors ? The firebreaks ? I'm pretty sure you can open every door in the game leading somewhere by having the correct card.
so you never get to open those doors with the white sealant around the edges? are you shitting me?
Well they might just parts of the Oldest House no one go in anymore because there's a threshold / it shifted too much from its original use
Is it possible to find the thermos from bright falls or is it just there on the file?
lame, the way these doors all have a distinctive look and the locked/unlocked light made me think for sure that you would eventually get something that would let you go through those doors, because metroidvania. legit disappointed to hear this isn't the case
That's black rock on the door. They sealed this because someone fucked up in there. GUess whatever is on the other side is similar to the clock area.
Thomas Zane is apparently someone from Alan Wake too.
no I know that
Control implies Alan Wake takes place in the same universe, like, not even multiverse, in the same normal universe.
in Alan Wake, Zane is/was a well-known poet. but Jesse's psych says she couldn't find evidence of him existing. what gives?
also, how does Mr. Scratch fit into all this?
I pirated this, played it for 10 minutes and quit. Why do people make movie "games" like this? The bitch floats around and doors open without interaction and the world is littered with pieces of paper completely interrupting game play. Hang these fucking devs.
Mr. Scratch is personal problem for Wake, and Alan is currently in Oceanview Motel and writing his way out.
I'm more confused about how QB is fitting in Control/Alan Wake's world.
Zoomers love their movie games. Especially the ones with girl power.
>Literally complaining about doors opening for you
If you played for 10 minutes how did you get to the floating power anyway ?
>The bitch floats around
>played it for 10 minutes
does QB have to fit into everything? that's the one Remedy game I didn't play, are there any hints that it's connected?
>the bitch floats around
>played it for 10 minutes and quit
How the fuck did get the last power up less than 10 minutes in?
Martin Hatch is mentioned in Control
it's in containment, on one of the altars in the panopticon
might be one of the hidden hallways, but I remember seeing it
right and Alan is from this same world, so why couldn't the psych find information about Zane? oh shit, did Alan write him out of having ever existed?
>Alan Wake predicted Ordinary accident
just finished it a moment ago
>that ashtray maze sequence
>the fake "ending"
>the part where you do chores around the office and it feels like its a straight up nightmare level from max payne
>dynamite
>fucking porcupine tree during the credits
Im gonna be honest, I can totally understand if people find this game boring or weak, but for me it was great, I cant remember the last time a game made me smile this much in joy, cant wait for the dlcs desu
Alan is the strongest reality bender, even FBC agreeing with that and alway ready to catch him (they even build FBC mobile base near the lake in Bright Falls).
Wake could be even the one who "wrote" this I guess after Alan dealt with Bright Falls "curse" memories of other victims start fading and only several people know about them (only who faced supernatural things).
Ok so I've been playing this game for a few hours now, and while the story is neat imo I find the gameplay to be incredibly boring.
The gun has no oomph to it and is less accurate than a blind baseball pitcher. And the telekinesis stuff looks fun but it's just a "press E to kill enemy" button.
Does this get more fun later on, or is the story the only interesting part throughout the whole game?
IIRC, in Wake's story Zane wrote himself out of reality, except for the items he left in the shoebox for Alan to find.
However he could also be a character that Alan invented for his own story that never existed outside of Couldron Lake in the first place.
>press E to kill enemy
Just press M3
if the story and joy of exploring the Oldest House isn't doing it for you, I don't know what to tell you. shooting guys is fine and when you get more powers it's kind of fun for a bit, but the meat of the game is consuming story and exploring this cool place.
oh shit you're right, I need to replay AW & AN
starts and ends strong
but the middle few missions kinda slump, I feel like a lot of the negative talk comes from people dropping the game here
the only thing keeping me going for a few hours was wanting to see more Darling clips
Enemies are more interesting later on (with less "soldier with guns" type) and later powers are a bit fun. Guns are accurate enough but the game is geared towards CQC, where you're getting close and personal, rather than a long ranged one.
Also, the best and the most challenging stuff are in the sidequests.
Middle parts really feels like a giant fetch quests where you aimlessly walking around the building and doing favors for other people
>psychiatrist
I don't remember that particular line but it was probably them trying to test Jesse like they were with her brother. Gaslighting them to see if they could resist control.
Either that or they were just FBC'ing in a narrative that he didn't exist, but if he was famous it doesn't make sense for them to try to erase his existence all together.
>Ends strong
>The ending is just wave based enemies and a fuck ton of plot thrown at you at the end just to wrap things up
Even the dynamite song didn't make sense. Why the fuck would he make a song about Jesse not knowing Jesse was gonna come save the day. Who controlled the hiss. Why's the director open the slide anyways. Who was ahti. Who is Polaris. Why was it helping Jesse and what does it want. Who killed the director. Why was Jesse hell bent on figuring this out but at the end she's like ahh fuck I guess I'm the director now and I take orders from this weird council now and just gives up.
There's so many fucking questions in this shit and the ending sucked. Like three long fetch quests with enemy waves in between. Some of the best bosses were optional side quests. I have no idea what they were doing. The fucking ashtray maze was cool but it was just cool setpieces that lead to a wave of monsters.
I don't know man. Shits a 7/10 at best.
What's the difference between OoP and altered items? I don't get despite what Sterling explanation
Also, I don't get some of those items power based on the texts. What's the power of the fridge? Destroying a building when nobody is watching it? Why does the anchor able to make a ship rusty and producing clocks?
That doesn't really change anything.
The Oldest House is super cool to explore, and I love reading the reports and watching the live action footage stuff. The gameplay just really doesn't hold up well in comparison.
You've convinced me to keep playing a little longer before passing judgement, so far 90% of the enemeis are dudes with various guns, and 10% are creepers from minecraft.
I did a sidequest where you escort a combat medic out from a sealed off section of the house, and at the end you have to kill the guy you brought the medic to help. But all the miniboss did was run around in a circle around the room while I chucked rocks at him to make him fall over.
OoP's can be bound, Altered items can't.
>Why the fuck would he make a song about Jesse not knowing Jesse was gonna come save the day.
he was in contact with Hedron, who communicates with Polaris. he might actually have known about Jesse
>Why's the director open the slide anyways
he was corrupted by the hiss
>Who was ahti
he's the janitor
>Who is Polaris
Hedron's child/creation
>Why was it helping Jesse and what does it want.
it was sent to free Hedron
>Who killed the director.
the board fired him when they found a replacement in Jesse
>Why was Jesse hell bent on figuring this out but at the end she's like ahh fuck I guess I'm the director now and I take orders from this weird council now and just gives up.
she trusts Polaris with everything, and she is the one guiding Jesse to the FBC,
>That doesn't really change anything.
It's much easier to handle, move and throw thing with M3
>Who was ahti
The best theory is that he's the supreme being that secretly controlling the old house. This theory is supported with the game's main imagery which is an upside down black triangle. Ahti is on the bottom of FBC hierarchy (a janitor) which technically is on the "top" of the triangle, and the director while being the leader of FBC is essentially the bottom feeder and everyone expected shits to be done by him. Despite being a Director, Jesse never acted like a director should be and merely an errand boy throughout the game.
Another thing that I'm not sure if it's connected is Jesse could be a janitor before she went to the old house. There's a picture of her mopping floors but I could be very wrong.
>Another thing that I'm not sure if it's connected is Jesse could be a janitor before she went to the old house
She outright states that she's worked as a cleaner before.
>Who was ahti
Funny how people still don't get it. First clue was at the beginning of the game: when you see his portrait in lobby and after "you get the job" talk.
>the board fired him when they found a replacement in Jesse
They fired him and removed all his bonuses not because of that, but because they found out he was compromised. They even warned Jessie later in the game about it.
>supreme being
looks like he's just doing his job, another employee of the FBC, might have contact with The Board, he certainly has the most knowledge, but nothing implies he's above The Board
>Another thing that I'm not sure if it's connected is Jesse could be a janitor before she went to the old house. There's a picture of her mopping floors but I could be very wrong
she straight up says she was a janitor once, the first scene in maintenance with Ahti

>only alternative is buying a digital deluxe edition to get the butt suit and the other preorder content
how do I exact my revenge?
>Funny how people still don't get it
explain then
because he is just the janitor
he may know more than the rest, but he still is just doing a job and cleaning up the FBC
I think he is a janitor which should keep The Oldest House/The Oldest Tree clean. He was there from the beginning, that why FBC don't touch him or even care.
The Board planted the seed and left someone to take care of it. That's actually make perfect sense why he love plants, why he wants to clean mess after mold and hiss and why he is tiered. In the end he trusted his work to Jessie.
do you even Hedron
