Western developers have respect for their brands, refusing to release games they’re not satisfied with (Starcraft Ghost, Titan) or view as unnecessary (Half-Life 3). They don’t want to tarnish their IP pointlessly.
Meanwhile Japanese developers try to cash in as much as possible with cancer like FFX-2 and Persona Dancing All Night.
>What is Assassin's Creed? >What is Call of Duty? >What is Farcry?
Matthew Thomas
>Starcraft Ghost, I still remember seeing this for the first time in Xbox Magazine. Why the fuck did they never release the game?
Julian Turner
EA, Activision, Paradox, Creative Assembly.
Ryder Rivera
Thank's for the reminder
Also, Ubisoft and Bethesda.
Asher Wilson
>using Blizzard as an example for "having respect for their brands" this is some next-level shit this is the funniest thing I'm gonna see all day, thanks user
>respect for their brands >puts fapbait as the game cover this is all i need to know you're full of shit
Benjamin Morgan
>Blackadder Nice to see a fellow man of culture for a change. Been a while.
Colton Parker
>Not satisfied with a fairly decent FPS. >But a cashgrab card game and an MMO that has gotten so bad that a 20 year old version is more popular are perfectly fine. >They care about us, they care about quality guys. This is how stupid you sound.
Ayden Robinson
>They don't want to tarnish their IP pointlessly >Using Starcraft Ghost as an example Remember: RMAH in Diablo 3 Warlords of Draenor Starcraft 2's completely nonsensical story that was clearly hashed out in a weekend Battle.net, just as a whole at this point The original release of Heroes of the Storm Overwatch plot never, ever developing, just throw more gays in
There is no actual defense for the current state of the Western industry.
Levi White
i'm a weeb and i'll def agree the japs go crazy with sequels and spinoffs whenever they find something that remotely works.
Sebastian Foster
WoW's development happened. Blizzard decided to focus on that rather than invest in developing Ghost as a multiplat. The new, more recent cancellation is due to Activision's typical jewish reasons.
William Hernandez
Obviously. But the Westards feel the need to "oppose again the Yellow Threat" or something.
And I'm not saying that Japanese gaming has no flaws. But it's still over in a much higher level and with an also much better gaming culture and stance during Video Games. The West is still lost inside its politics.
>SC Ghost Literally just needed to continue it. It was looking cool as fuck
Brandon King
hm we have pokemon mobile, Mario mobile, final fantasy mobile and, wait for it, Zelda mobile. Who's destroying and perverting the videogame franchises you grew up with again?
Ryder Scott
Nobody, if anything my favorite franchises are being revived after years of dormancy. It's a beautiful thing. If "Mario mobile" is where you draw the line, I gotta ask, why? Is your favorite cartoon character Mickey Mouse? Stop being such a boring person.
Starcraft Ghost is a vaporware production that Blizzard has been "working on" since the late 90s or something. It's a bogus project where I assume all the devs do is snort cocaine off hookers, probably exists to hire friends and family into but with no expectations of ever producing a game.
Jackson Lewis
>working on Nigga it was an actual game they were doing but then they dropped it shortly after it was advertised in magazines and shit. They haven't touched that in a good 20 years now.
Ian Cook
>They haven't touched that in a good 20 years now They did, actually. A Starcraft FPS was in production for a while that was likely going to be a new version of Ghost. They cancelled it in favor of Overwatch 2.
Christian Green
We both know mobile games are thinly veiled and shameless cashgrabs. No series that has tasted the easy money from teaching kids gambling has ever came out of it better.
Michael Hill
>Nigga it was an actual game they were doing So was Duke Nukem Forever, allegedly. It's easy to make mock-ups to sell shit to investors. Call me a conspiracy theorist or whatever the fuck but I sincerely believe that Starcraft Ghost was never going to be a real thing, it was something they used to squeeze money out of stupid people since it was right around the time the Halo craze was going on.
>They cancelled it in favor of Overwatch 2. oh yeah, maybe Overwatch's fucking story can start now
Ryder Nguyen
It was, but Blizzard got ahead of themselves on advertising and overspent their potential resources, as the game was supposedly going to be on Xbox, PS2, and Gamecube all at once. Considering they had no experience with Shooters at that point, them cancelling the project was probably 'for the best' for them since WoW had started development and they needed everybody on it. It's also notable that Nova got a bonus DLC campaign in Starcraft 2, which seemingly follows the potential plot of Ghost.
Jose Cox
>Western developers have respect for their brands, refusing to release games they’re not satisfied with (Starcraft Ghost, Titan) or view as unnecessary (Half-Life 3). They don’t want to tarnish their IP pointlessly. Blizzard released StarCraft 2.
Jacob Ortiz
I literally don't care about mario, zelda or final fantasy. What is your point?
Zachary Myers
more like blizzard was full of overpaid cokeheads in the 2010s who could barely ship anything
Lincoln Morris
I massively prefer the cokeheads to what Blizzard is now.
Ian Ward
which didn't tarnish shit in the eyes of the general public
Anthony Cox
>They don’t want to tarnish their IP pointlessly. yeah that explains why 3rd and ocassionally 2nd(pictured in your post for example) installments are ALWAYS trash
Asher Wood
>It's also notable that Nova got a bonus DLC campaign in Starcraft 2, which seemingly follows the potential plot of Ghost.
Blizzard actually said they'd be completely ignoring Ghost in the initial marketing for that. I mean the entire plot is a Dominion coup, wouldn't work as well between 1 and 2.
Camden Reed
>if anything my favorite franchises are being revived
And those are...? If not any of the big franchises I listed. Also- can you speak/read Japanese?
FFx-2 had great combat Just charlies angels tier shit for most of the plot
Adam Davis
The devs said they thought ffx was too melodramatic so they wanted to make something uplifting instead. Which is actually not a bad idea. The real bad idea basing their story about sexualizing pretty much every detail to guarantee sales to the world's largest incel population (japan).
