I recently tried doing a marathon, but shit man the fatigue hit hard in bn 4, lost all will to continue.
it's starting to get to me. I wanted to go for at least 100% basic chip collection and I gave up at around 160/175 in 1. 2's secret area was a little frustrating with the high hp block dudes that you need to 1 shot and I was too lazy to build for the simple PAs. 3 got a little tiring at the same spot in the secret area and I couldn't decide between cust and team style for collection, didn't want to drop one for the other so I stayed ElecCust for the entire game. and 4 I remember playing it enough to get those icons on the menu screen, more than I ever did than with any of the other games.
The having-to-play-for-three-times never bugged me in 4, but I made sure not to pick the version with metalman because fuck that boulder smashing minigame in his scenario.
my last mmbn was the one with a dam on a river or something, which one was this?
that was early on in bn2 at the camping trip
Your favourite one is 4? Blinded by nostalgia? Because it was my favourite one until I started thinking about it. Story is padded out bullshit, and loads of translation issues.
But yeah, they changed the style from 4 on, which I don't mind.
4's shit.
Damn, I got burned out fast then. I don't remember even clearing that one before I dropped the series.
>no mmbn anthology that requires you to beat each game in sucession to unlock the next title
>no multiplayer with the option to pick which game/chipset to play with
why live
In which one you can fuck roll?
yeah the perspective shift is night and day after playing the first three in a row. I think they shrunk everything down to fit more onto the screen, but it looks more silly than I remembered. I liked a lot of things about 4: the music, the chips, the undernet, the navis, the final boss, the dark soul bosses, the souls. the scenarios were the worst part just getting through the story because it's filler as fuck, but it has my favorite battle system of them all with the chips and souls.
also wtf gutssoul is op... +30 atk on normals
Where are you playing them? PC?
BN Mega Man is canonically like 4'10", looks about right.
yeah, on emulator. RetroArch. sometimes an user posts a bunch of mega links to a variety of battle network media, roms included.
>BN4
>Favourite Game
Masochist Detected.
I preferred MetalSoul. Those double-boosted hockey pucks did absurd damage.
>Played 2 then 3 back to back
>Want to get to 5 but really don't want to play 4 3+ times
>Can't remember much about it but so decide to just watch somebody else play Red Sun on youtube
>Mad man also shows off all the Blue Moon only content alongside the main run
What a mad man.
oh yeah, the puck synergy... I'm going to miss that. I remember cheesing Shademan in the with that to get the GMD in his encounter. I also remember having a lot of trouble with Shademan and Junkman. it'll be fun and different to go through the version that I hadn't already played.
Roham? MegaQuint?
Roahmmythril.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who fucking notices, I feel like the only one who cares.
They shrunk down the overworld sprites to make room for more game but it just wasn't worth it, the quality plummeted for me.
The new look combined with the general shittiness of 4 made me quit the series. Shame.
Oh i noticed, i just got all my bitching out of the way back when 4 had its Japanese release, trust me, MANY people was mad about it, especially since there was this idea the changes (like the change of eye-color) was a attempt to synergize with the Anime. In hindsight it was actually kinda "SONIC ARMS ARE NOT BLUE"-tier.
>Battle Network collection for Switch
>Includes the Starforce scenario + bonuses/improvements for BN1
>All use enhanced builds akin to BN5/BN1 on DS
>Online network play for netbattles and chip trading
One can dream
i would get a Switch if this happened. the series is just too fun and the gameplay has aged pretty good after over 15 years. the chip collection and combinations go so well together.
God, the things I would do to her butthole
>Trust nobody not even yourself
>get to my favorite game

...
I was playing 1, and I couldn’t finish that shit cause the maze in the net just pissed me off so I just skipped to 5. I LOVE the battle & Boss themes in that game fuck me..
i liked the liberation missions in 5 and the gimmick that the battle areas were designed in ways that you could have viruses attack from front and behind. fuck the last boss and fuck whichever game had that minigame where you whacked 100 soldiers with a stick.
I remember a hint to them being in bn6 which was the first one I played and wasn’t a fan. Second time around it’s alright.
I 100% (all icons and all sp chips max power) 3, 4, 5, and 6 last year. 1 is ass and I was too cheap to buy a second copy of 2, but I'll do that this year. Emulating is for losers.
megaman just sucker punched this poor navi. early signs of the corruption from the DARKU CHIPPU
>Try to each game in succession while down end game areas
>Wonder why he's fatigued
Nigga, BN requires some breaks in between. They're lengthy games with a lot of downtime because of all the dialogue. Play another game in between each title.
He even gets called out for that at the end of the game.
I don't remember this. What was said?
Any chance you still have that link?
Dr. Regal's speech at the end of BN4 on top of ANXA is hilarious. It sounds like generic left-winger speech. "A world without laws or borders."
Dr Regal calls out the heroes in that even they do dark things in pursuit of their beliefs.
Like how Chaud has probably cut down a lot of innocent navis in his line of work.
As I recall, that pack features the Wii U modded roms that include minor bug fixes, improved color palettes, and awards secret chips upon accessing the Network menu (due to lack of multiplayer support).
It also includes .CIA versions for use on 3DS with CFW.

Thanks a lot user, just what i was looking for
based user posted it. i never tried the .cia roms but that does sound pretty convenient, especially the secret ships accessibility.
I feel like the reason we haven't gotten a BN collection yet is because they're trying to make online shit work properly
Why do people say you have to play Battle Network 4 like 3 times? Do you really HAVE to? What if I just finish the game once and then never again?
Do executable files have buttholes?
when you play it the first time you only have access to 1/3 of the library. you'll beat the game, but with rank1 chips. the second time you play you'll unlock another 1/3 of the library and it's mostly the same game again, but with upgraded viruses aka more chip data. and I think it unlocks a few more of the game content like the undernet. so on your 3rd playthrough you'll be fighting the toughest viruses, access to the last 1/3 chip library and you'll still go through the same story, but now you can do the whole end game stuff once you beat the final boss the 3rd time, iirc. the souls that you can obtain are also gated by playthrough. I think there's 6 souls total that you can get, so 2 souls per playthrough? it's pretty much ng+, but you see more and more of the rest of the game.
The game is designed around New Game+ and the random events for the tournament portions of the story.
On the first run, you'll only encounter v1 viruses, navis, and get v1 chip data.
On the second run, you'll only encounter v2 yada yada, and the third run is all v3 stuff, as well as all runs afterwards. (There's no option to pick your difficulty when starting NG+, which makes it difficult to get different chip levels which are necessary for effective folder building or program advances)
Note that there are normal and EX versions of viruses, up to v3 EX.
There's three tournament scenarios in the story, and on the first run you'll get three Double Souls, then two Double Souls on the second, and your 6th and final Double Soul on the third.
The post-game area and secret boss are also only available on the third playthrough onwards.
You're free to beat the game once and never touch it again, but the game is the shortest in the series and it fragments all of its content across multiple playthroughs.
>the third run is all v3 stuff, as well as all runs afterwards. (There's no option to pick your difficulty when starting NG+, which makes it difficult to get different chip levels which are necessary for effective folder building or program advances)
wrong, every level of every virus can be found in 3+, just not on the regular net. you have to jack into random comps like the sink in the dendome. PMD isn't missable either.
Part of the issue with that though is that you have no natural progression of enemy difficulty and you delve into deeper areas.
It does still introduce difficulties if you don't have access to a given area where the weaker viruses can be found.
>Implying it's left wing when it's calling for no regulation instead of stronger regulation.
Why is/v/ so retarded?
>no natural progression of enemy difficulty
yeah you do, because you already did the first two playthrus and keep your chips/hp memory/navi cust parts. They also use EX viruses within playthrus as half-steps in difficulty. Nothing in nebula area is tremendously harder than the stuff in undernet besides Bass random encounter and shadow navis if you don't have sword chips lmfao. The hardest thing in the game is probably the virus rushes to get the evil chips and it's still not bad with a based V code folder.
i wondered about the different ranks of viruses and it makes sense. last time i played was about 3-4 years ago. i remembered being overwhelmed by the new viruses in the next playthrough... undernet4 and beyond was a bitch and gave me many game overs. especially Junkman. i was legit scared of encountering v3 navis in their areas.
I just remembered it's called black earth.
I didn't like that later entries made Mr Progs speak in all caps.
But it did lead to moments like "IT WAS VERY BLACK"
poor mr Prog. all he can do is smile
Battle Network quotes are truly a gift.
>tfw battle network collection is next after zero/zx
Who else buying a hundred copies
I remember playing the patched JP Falzar and I'm gonna be honest, the count series chips were neat, but the Boktai scenario wasnt all that impressive, we lost nothing from getting those bloated Under3 and Graveyard areas cut. Plus you still needed cheats to 100% since the last missions to unlock the final Protoman fight were locked behind E-Reader un the JP version
Which game should I play first
Flip a coin between 2 and 3.
>MMBN4
I've only played this one and a little bit of 5 and 6. Why is this one considered the worst?
BN4, it's the best one. OP even said it was his favorite, and you can always trust OP's taste :^)
Play them in order.
I suggest the DS version of BN1 known as Rockman EXE Operate Shooting Star (included in ) as it has some QoL improvements and new content.
>Roughly half the library and souls are locked behind multiple playthroughs
>the entire story is tournament arc where you're first to run errands for NPCs before you're allowed to fight them
>horrible translation
>can't challenge any of the NPCs to netbattles anymore
>Soul and chip balance is bad, some are insanely good like Search Soul and others are awful like Aqua Soul due to BN4's lack of good water chips
>Viruses have overly inflated HP pools
>Dark Chip mechanic is poorly implemented
Oh, and the post game was incredibly disappointing after the amazing Secret Area from BN3.
Basically these .
It's also pretty poorly made: translation errors, game breaking bugs and some near X6 Black Zero-tier unlockables.
What's interesting is that 4 might actually the most ambitious game of the series. I remember watching a lets play that got 100% on both versions and basically, if the sheer amount of content on a single version isn't enough for you, you can link up to the opposite version and get all of its unlocked content for yours as well, and I mean all, tournament scenarios, Navi attack chips even overworld bosses. 4's problem is that it literally spread itself too thin, the original cart couldn't take having all that content unlocked
read a synopsis of 1 and start with 2.
its really not as bad as people say, but doing the theme park for the 4th time made me suicidal.
bn4 post game is fine. you probably never even s ranked shademan sp in under 10 seconds.
>can't challenge any of the NPCs to netbattles anymore
they're easy enough to find on the net, and actually hard. oh no I cant farm muh gutsman for 10 frags anymore TT____TT
>bn4 post game is fine.
BN4 post game is a fucking snorefest, the only cool part is fighting Bass and that's it.
> you probably never even s ranked shademan sp in under 10 seconds.
That's not even hard, why the fuck would you even bring something stupid like that up?
>doing the theme park for the 4th time made me suicidal
Fucking Vampire Manor and the fact that you had to memorize trivia shit about Kojima's dumb light sensor gimmick game along with watching cutscenes of you on the raft was the worst.
aw SHIT here we go again
>skip 1
>4 isn't that bad
Fuck you, now that OSS is in English you have no excuse for your shit taste.
>that fucking music
I WANT TO GET OFF MR. NET NAVI'S WILD RIDE
Not just hers.
the ride never ends...
sick fuck
So now the the franchise as a whole is completely dead, what do you think of the 1986 firearm owners protection act?
alright that's enough for me. you all have a good day and night, anons
Comfy bn thread?
So does anyone know how to activate cross bass in BN 6?
always take a break after finishing 2 games when marathoning rpgs series. it is easier to go from Megaman Classic all the way through ZX Advent without getting tired. RPGs like pokemon and BN will burn you out after the second game and by the time you try to play the third will start to lose interest in the games
posting my shit. Got a full manga collection elsewhere (except vol 8, where the FUCK did that go). Fucking grew up with this series, even though I've only owned a copy of 3 and played the rest on an emulator. Thinking of buying a flashcart so I can play on the modded GBA a friend gave me. Love this fucking series, and am hoping we get a legacy collection soon.
FUCKING camera.
Id much rather get a reboot of the series, rather than another legacy collection. While its nice to have all the titles in one place, like many anons already mentioned, its a pain to marathon them. Preferably a reboot of bn rather than star force, never liked the changes they made in it
What's he auditioning for?
5 Sharkmans
>random encounter
Nope.
>tfw you're just randomly walking to the next area in BN4 ng++ and you encounter a NetNavi battle you can't run from
It's outlined in the...manga called trap. Look it up
