Gacha always seemed like the natural evolution of pokemon to me. The game has very basic gameplay and most of the charm is in the creatures, they just realized they can charge for the creatures straight up rather than making a RPG for it.

game freak had no hand in pokemon masters you mongoloid
plus they realized years ago (before nintendo jumped into smartphone games) that they didn't have to put effort into the main games yet people would still buy them

GF has nothing to do with Pokemon Masters which is why it has unique models and animations

well it is still using the same pokemon models as the main games, but it's also been confirmed that sword and shield are using the same models anyway so it's not surprising

If you actually replay those you'll see that they're mediocre at best.

It's not. You can take several models and compare them. Cynthia in Pokemon Masters is a completely different model than Cynthia in USSM. The characters are proportioned correctly instead of the weird deformed style int he Pokemon games.

i've replayed them hundreds of times as well as all the numerous romhacks and overhauls.
2nd gen was peak features, art and world, and music.
3rd gen was peak pokemon design, and in some ways the most enjoyable to play through for reasons i can't quite articulate.

People don't seem to realize how fucked GF is. The only value they hold is that their partial ownership of the Pokemon IP, which is clearly way too big for them to control. Letting Nintendo owning the trademark was their biggest mistake, but they were too small at that point to do anything about it.
