Every new DLC fighter has been built from a framework of an existing character. This was discovered through some Bowser Jr. data being present in Plant, and further similar save corruptions being found in data of MiiSwordfighter, Duck hunt, and now Ryu, the basis characters for Hero, Banjo, and Terry.

It still leaves a wide window because of how huge a variance you can build from the base character like DH and Jr to banjo and Plant, but it would be an incredible stretch to somehow turn Metaknight's general bones and actions into Doomguy.

Less likely before they announced more characters.

Being relegated to a Mii Gunner makes absolutely no sense when Doom Slayer can work out as one of the most advanced fighters in the roster to play.

Having an arsenal of guns, as well as an ammo gimmick would make Doom Slayer a threat... The inclusion of the Crucible Sword is no coincidence... After all, Doom Slayer needs F-Smash and D-Smash...

Good, he is Platformer/Action, and only based on a leak that was proven fake. The next character could be of Western procedence.

Nobody knows until there's official leaks from Nintendo, just like how SNK was leaked.

At this point, leakers are betting their reputation on Smash reveals to get recognition or ridicule, depending if their leaks are real.

Ryu is a fighting game character from the Street Fighter franchise, which is in no way action platformer. Nor an FPS.

You don't have an idea what it takes to be part of the roster... Me neither, but many barriers the Doom Slayer had has been broken recently.
His inclusion can then mean even unpopular choices in Japan (If that's true) can get in the game.
