It's literally all people are talking about now. God I wish racist Mario was real so he could kick all these dumb PlayStation and PC characters away from Nintendo. Your dumb irrelevant non-Nintendo characters don't belong in Nintendo's all-star game.
Third party faggotry has ruined Smash discussion
Imagine being this much of a faggot.
Yeah fuck third parties, give me king boo and captain toad, or how about Bandana Dee?
Kratos is in
that reminds me they should add kratos
*appears in your recommends*
>God I wish racist Mario was real so he could kick all these dumb PlayStation and PC characters away from Nintendo.
Doesn't Kratos kill him in that flash?
Kratos would unironically be better than any Ultimate DLC character thus far except maybe Banjo
Nah, the new wave of tranny zoomers in 2014 did. Smash speculation was comfy as fuck before Tr4sh released.
>he actually watched it
Well, yeah. I have a high tolerance for trash seeing as I'm talking to you.
How the fuck could you not? It's plastered all over youtube and is some of the most normie dorkly tier shit ever so it's bound to be spread.
Not the faggot that OP is, but functionally almost all the Smash Switch character don't particularly strike any fancy in me.
Like, Piranha Plant is probably the only one that's remotely unique, but he's got a lot of problems overall, still. The roster is already REALLY packed, and functionally the only thing I really want from the game is unique playstyles. There's only so many different ways a projectile can travel to be different. There's only so many ways a humanoid can swing a sword (or other weapon) in a platform fighter, and there's only so many ways a humanoid fighter can punch or kick.
I think it's cool Terry got in, but it's unfortunate that he and other cool 3rd parties got in after the game was already inundated with characters, to the point to where nobody even feels special anymore.
Back during Japan-Time, I was all for getting awesome new 3rd party reps, was particularly happy for Snake and Sonic getting in. But these days, I just don't care anymore, and the rosterfaggotry just made me take a step back from Smash. The rampant threads here and anywhere else just annoys me, to no avail.
10x more discussions goes on what new humanoid gets into the game, but nobody actually talks about the state of the game, features, modes, etc.
vote king boo
I don't really give a fuck about king boo, though.
I'd rather Sakurai experiment with characters that work in different ways. Like, just spitballing shit since I'm just coming off playing a Path of Exile character that degens/DoTs enemies, etc.
Maybe a character where most of their moves are just low-initial-damage damage-over-time effects, but you can't stack a forward-A's DoT with another forward-A's DoT, so you want to mix up different attacks so you can get several different DoTs stacking before trying to do a smash attack to knock them out. Or hell, even an all-projectile character. Belmonts/Megaman are closish, but think like Wizard-gameplay, or the reverse of Little Mac, where their zoning game is the best thing they do, but they can only knock you back with a weak staff bash.
You know, like a legitimately different way to approach a platform fighter rather than just every character feeling like a reskinned other character. The "anime swordsman" meme is actually pretty endemic across the entire roster, and very few characters actually function uniquely, so there really isn't much functional reason to have 100+ characters if they all do basically the same shit.
99% of people play Smash to play as their favorite characters that they have attachments to in their own series, not for Smash's own gameplay.
Joker has a DoT though
and he still feels like the most mishmashed character of the DLC's so far released.
irrelevant characters have been in since 64
Well I'm just not attached to any character anymore. I used to like Fox in melee, because mechanically he felt the most responsive, 8 years before I found out about the melee smash scene. Even so, I played a few StarFox games and didn't really like them that much.
That kind of also goes for characters like Sonic that you actually expect to be super fast, but they're just "running-speed is among the faster tier" than most other characters, so even Sonic feels robbed of what he probably should be approaching. And the larger the roster really gets, the more samey everyone feels. Bowser's fire breath isn't really unique anymore, Charizard and Ridley's got it too. The Fire Emblem down-b counter isn't unique, basically half the cast has a totally-competitive-viable counterattack that's just predictable shit, etc.
But maybe it's just my preference for liking fighting games with small, but diverse character pools. Skullgirls and JJBA Heritage for the Future are still my favorites to this day.
All the important Nintendo characters are already in
wait for Smash 6 and maybe you'll get that Fire Emblem, dead ip and Shillmon you desperately want
this is legit now
_A_ dot. That's it. One. I mean like I want more of a Street Fighter character design-follows-function type design. Like, OK, we need a strong grappler-type character to fill out the roster. Lets make a russian brawler who's kinda bad against character that can zone him out, but he's got really good grabs/throws/command grabs and name him Zangief.
Or in this case, let's make a character that only works with degen damage, 80% of this characters kit is DEDICATED to doing degens. If you want to play a hit-and-run type degen playstyle this is your guy.
So I don't agree with either the waddle-dee with hat shitters or the shitters that want goku or sora in the game. That's just adding more of the same shit that the game already has plenty of playstyle representation of already.
Nintendo doesn’t have any characters left to add
>racist Mario
Opinion discarded.
>All the important Nintendo characters are already in
But pic related isn't in yet?
Cope
Then the solution is to stop adding more characters and focus on other ways to add to and improve the game
Mario is in the game.
Mario and Paper Mario are two distinct characters though.
It hasn't. You're just mad you didn't get a million more "generic anime with sword" characters and I'm so fucking glad for that.
You might unironically have schizophrenia
is everything ok at home, user?
I always thought it would have been nice if the characters in Super Smash bro games either best seller or iconic characters from that generation of Nintendo console.
The only good first party characters left are Lip, Skull Kid, and Karate Joe. Third party characters are necessary.
More character costumes and bringing back custom specials (though more varied ones than in smash 4 would be grand) would be swell. Or maybe just more specials for mii fighters.
I have to assume people who say stuff like this just aren’t good at the game because the characters we have are drastically different from each other barring the clones.
Severe autism.
Skull Kid isn't even in the top 3 most important Zelda reps left.
No, King Boo is the best remaining first party character, Dixie Kong isn't far behind him though.
Only Tingle really has any business being playable from Zelda.
>functionally the only thing I really want from the game is unique playstyles
This is me in general. I’m a fan of many characters, but unless I think they can bring something distinct to the table in terms of moveset they’re not one of my wanted characters.
I’m also bothered by how many semi-realistic humans there are. Give me some more stylized characters
So are Batman and Bruce Wayne
>Your dumb irrelevant non-Nintendo characters don't belong in Nintendo's all-star game.
Absolutely agree. It was fun with Snake because of how novel it was but it just gives me that cheap Playstation allstar vibes now.
Eh I would also say Impa has a fair argument for her inclusion, but yeah Tingle would be my first choice for a new Zelda rep.
>Comparing two different persons to a guy who goes by a different name when wearing a costume
user please.
Who fucking cares, its another Mario
smash "discussion" has been awful ever since smash 4 introduced the cancers that were "leak culture," dlc and the ballot. ever since then, it's been a mess of attention-whore "leakers," rosterfags and people trying to be the rules lawyers of the smash roster. gameplay discussion doesn't happen anymore, except for when rosterfags complain that a character they didn't want is either "low tier, a waste of a slot" or "pay-to-win, nerf/ban now!"
smash needs a containment board at this point.
>tfw sold my used jordans for $185
Is it finally time to buy a Smash machine?
He's only another Mario in name and appearance friend. The moveset potential to distinguish him for normal Mario is huge.
Luigi's Mansion sells significantly better than Mario's RPGs and the latter don't have a recurring main villain so King Boo should take priority over any RPG Mario character. Plus even though he originated in a spinoff King Boo has crossed into Mario Kart and a few core Mario games, something no RPG character has accomplished except for Goomboss to a much lesser degree.
Nobody cares about Impa, quotafaggotry is so fucking dumb.
Do you not understand how functionally similar most characters operate in smash? It's almost entirely about picking a character that
A: Is fast (both in terms of being able engage and disengage with the opponent, and having better frame date)
B: Spends the majority of the low% against the enemy with generic melee attacks (punches/kicks/sword slashes), while recovering with a generic uppercut like UpB,
C: And trying to bait the opponent into a risky attack so you can land an attack with poorer frame data (ie: a smash or stong hittng special) which can knock them out cleanly or sufficiently enough to start trying to edgeguard any recovery attempt.
In reality, it's people that LITERALLY ONLY PLAY SMASH that have no idea how it feels like to play any other fighter where characters are more acutely functioning like zoners-only, grapplers-only, or rushdown-only playstyle metatypes.
In Smash, every character has generic melee attacks, a windup Smash attack that his a short area ahead of them for slightly extra damage and more knockback, every character has the same damn uppercut UpB, etc. And the more character get added, the more watered down the roster feels.
>search catalog for "smash"
>never fewer than 10 results because smashfags are too retarded to reply to existing threads and always spam new ones without even bothering to check if the discussion they're trying to have is already taking place
Smash discussion is ruined? Good. Maybe we can finally discuss other things.
No shit, it’s a platform fighter not a traditional one. Characters vary by projectiles, frame data, edgetrap vs offstage ability, and things like that. Trying to make gimmicky archetype characters just results in Little Macs.
>hey plumber boy mustache man your worst nightmare has arrived.
And there's literally nothing wrong with Little Macs, because the character design is trying something absolutely new that isn't available elsewhere in the game. The problem with Little Mac is that he's too poorly balanced with aerials and recovery that are far-too-underperforming, in a platform fighter where both aerials and recovery are among the most critical factors for competitive viability.
But even so, fuck competitive viability, because Little Mac shows that you can implement a good classic character in a way that's absolutely unique.
I'd rather have an unoriginal but fun character than an unique but unfun character like Little Mac.
Little Mac is shit though. He's not fun to play as, he's not fun to play against, and he's shit tier in any match between serious players while being a completely unfair-feeling characters to use against inexperienced players and newcomers.
He's unique but he's unique in a bad way.
I think Little Mac is a ton of fun. He’d be fine if he actually got his side B back after getting hit in the air (like literally every other character does)
This, Little Mac is both garbage and one of the least fun characters to play against. He’s not good design.
