Never played AC before, but im having a lot of fun with the demo, every thing feels fast as hell now
Fighting that train solo is fun as fuck. I have no idea how to deal with the flying fuckers other than get lucky tho.
Is it even possible to beat it in the demo if you don't have more people to play with?
Hopefully
It's really gonna come down to mission design, I'm trying to avoid using the hover-flying, it feels kind of unwieldy
If the demo's anything to go by, it seems pretty enjoyable so far
Does anyone know what exclusive things you can find in the story missions? I was thinking of starting over and wanted to know if there was anything I should look for so I can keep it for the full game.
Did I miss something?> I did all 7 missions I saw. None were even remotely difficult.
Fun as fuck though, where is this train mission?
Well, the demo is really fun, so I'd say yes.
thinking of doing one more run of the demo for what i'll use for the full game.
Are these all the hidden decals throughout the missions, or am I still missing some?
Train mission is in co-op, along with the boss from the prototype demo
It's a coop mission, but you can do it solo, as well as the spider boss.
It'll fill the hole left by the lack of Armoured Core and Front Mission, so yeah
Oh shit, nice picture. Are those in order of the missions?
Yeah, first three are from the map where you took the test, and fought the convicts?, fourth is from where you see the colossal immortals for the first time, and the last two are from the map where you got the missile pack/ first got to loot Strais.
What the fuck is even happening in these videos?
It's amazing what a few changes can do. The Prototype Demo was one of the worst things I've ever played, but the new demo just made me preorder the game.
Looks like someone fucking around in the training room to show how fast the movement can potentially be.
How is performance? It was laggy even in trailers, but idk about game itself.
How do I control flying? Seems like I always go farther up than I want to
The demo is boring as fuck with the least unlikable pieces of shits since Three House.
How do I play co-op I thought free missions were suppose to be co-op but idk how to find people.
I think if you tap B or boost while ascending you level out
co-op is local only for now iirc
People seemed to dislike or immediately lose interest this game just from the 'mecha' tag alone.
Why is mecha such a niche appeal?
So stupid that there is no online in the demo, the easiest way to hype the game and Nintendo dropped the ball. At least they are allowing for keyboard inputs now so at least we wouldn't have to guess what other people are saying. Still the story mode in this game literally makes me want to kill myself.
Free Missions are the repeatable missions, unlike the ones tied to the story which can only be done once. The co-op missions are separate even from those and can be found in the smaller terminal off to the right. The dog is usually sitting next to it. You gotta open up a local play room to do those.
Pretty good so far
The game gets pretty crazy and there's a few drops not gonna lie but it's definitely much better than before
Was the B decal hidden? I remember you get most of em just by beating missions and stuff, but if one of these were from going through the map, then i completely forgot.
Is that from the first demo?
That's one I just took from the current demo
Nope, I was putting my name in and for whatever reason the post was sent.
Life's pretty funny since that post could still be interpreted as topic related.
I was going to note that I replayed story mode and systemically went through the maps and ended up with the same count as you. The fact they removed the caution decal from the second mission (First demo) really threw me off and it took me a while too view things from above to find the armband (Force Decal)
I think I'll replay the story missions one last time to see if I missed anything and take screencaps that are a little further away so people have a better idea of where the decals are.
Demo was neat. Only complaint is Outer battles are basically
>I ram your mech X times until you die
In every battle where they're present
I can't decide if I like it or if it's kinda dull but I still have free missions to do. Wish my hands would stop camping though, the doggo controller is uncomfortable as fuck
So since we can't replay missions is there just no way to for me to get those if I already played the mission?
What outer battles are there in the demo, I didn't find any?
Jesus fuck what is up with this UI customization
At this rate I'm gonna be mad that every game in the world isn't like this
One of the free missions re-uses the map from the first level, so you can go back and get some of those, but aside from that, yeah, you'll have to go back and just re-do the whole demo or wait for the full release to get the ones you haven't picked up already
It's odd, I seem to remember replaying the missions in the old demo wonder why you can't now
There were only story missions in the old demo despite also having a free missions category. It was always supposed to be like this, but the old demo let you do it multiple times for testing purposes. This is the actual beginning of the game, so it follows the same rules that the rest of the game will.
You literally fight 2 Outers in the last mission of the demo from Western 7
Oh oh oh okay I though you meant fighting an Outer "out" of your mech, on foot
I hate that in the 2 missions between both demos where we battle against another mech pilot, they're both a pair with 1 somewhat competent fighter who you're not allowed to actually kill even if you tried and succeeded, and the jobber idiot who you actually can kill.
Is there any official character art? I really like some of the designs
So did anyone beat the bosses enough times to max out the gauges and unlock new parts
INB4 you can do the reaper trick from the first demo
I maxed out the Gunfort but it didn't seem to do anything. Do you need to fight it more after it's maxed, or might it just not be used until later in the game?
Easiest breakdown:
1. Did you like AC 1 - Last Raven? 50% chance you'll like it
2. Did you like AC 4/4a? 90% chance you would rather shoot yourself in the face. (gameplay is slow as fuck)
3. Did you like V/VD? 70% chance you'll like it
4. Never played an AC game? 50% chance you'll like it
5. Only like mech games like mech warrior? You wont be able to keep up and will probably hate the game.
Im a big fan of all the AC games with the exception of V and Verdict day after playing the a few minutes of the first demo, i quickly uninstalled it. Was hoping for either gameplay that rivaled Nexus/Last Raven or speed that was on par with 4 Answer and it failed to deliver, for me anyways, on any of those.
was really hoping for a game that felt like armored core after the series being neglected by From since Dark souls' popularity spiked.
The demo was at least.
I'm waiting to see how multiplayer handles, i want to play with Yea Forums
i should add i haven't played the latest demo. First impression was so fucking shit i just avoided it. maybe i should give it another try.
>gameplay is slow as fuck
See
I've managed to beat Gunfort with Johnny and a lot of fucking patience. Don't be a retard like me and actually bring back up SMG/ Rifles. Haven't tried the train mission yet.
hmm. not bad. framerate drops are going to fuck the combat once the action picks up. Might have to give it a shot then.
Example of what 4A speed was capable of.
Context: blade only was difficult to be accurate with, and this mission is one of the hardest missions in AC history.
4A was so kino
Someone help me search city level for the other decal.
There must be a full color one in their because the first mission has 1, and the 3rd mission has 3.
dub or sub?
>you can do white glint's spin move
That's fucking sick, too bad I don't know how the fuck I did it.
How the fuck do you even dodge that thing I can't tell whats going on between all these neon colors
>missed the pizza&hotdog decal
fuck
I think those 2 you get just for playing through missions enough times
its fun.
solo'd gunfort. it doesnt seem too hard? like it hits hard if it connects and if you want those juicy underside weakpoints you gotta take that risk, but theres more than enough health trucks about to top up and stay healthy.
is there anything you're supposed to do when it bubbles? its kinda dull just floating back heckling it while it does that since you cant get close. even with the arm boost (which isnt mentioned fucking anywhere in-game) the damage is pathetic at that range
also i pulled off some maneuver and cant figure out how to do it again. had two Grim Reapers equipped and was dealing with the trash adds and must have spun control stick too much or something, but my arsenal spun and did like a 360 fire. might have just been the boost flip animation, but it didnt quite look like that
oh and are you supposed to just eat a shit ton of ice cream at once before a mission? the 3-5% buffs seem like nothing and i dont want to waste money experimenting with stacking if its not possible
Make sure to remap boost, turn on gyro, and use up/down on dpad to select wing mode
What setup do you use?
How does the down booster work? I am retarded.
Press whatever button you have auxillary mapped to
Put camera and gyro at max
I had boost on r1 but I think I'll switch it to l1 so I can use r2 to shoot. I've seen people suggest boost on l3 but it seems like you'll be clicking it a lot.
I might try ascend on l3 and descend on r3.
I haven't even touched HUD customization which seems crazy in-depth
Fuck where did you get a down booster
I found the most consistent strategy for me was to continuously swing around it and shoot the back knees. If you bust the knees open there are weak points behind them, and the act of continuously going for the back knees means I'm always dodging to the side to avoid the rushing attack.
The real key is the gun itself. After it fires, there's a brief window where more weak points appear on either side of it. When it charges that laser, get out of the way and then rush toward it. If you manage to break all six (three on each side), you'll break the laser and it can't fire it anymore. That means it'll only do the jump, rush, or force field. You can pick the laser up off the ground. There's an opening to fire it back immediately after it's broken off. Aim for the exposed weak points it always has on the bottom.
You can loot them in free mission 1
Aiming with joycons does not feel good.
We'll definitely be allowed to go back and play the old levels in the full one, right?
Thanks ill try to think about it when I'm not getting jumped to death like a goomba
why not use pro controller with gyro?
There's your problem. Almost every problem everyone had was solved in this new one.
That's the beauty of boosting to the side. You'll avoid the jump, too. It's very easy to kite the thing, just keep moving left or right. And make sure to take out the AI reinforcements when you can, the best time being when the force field is out and you gotta wait around anyway.
i havent try the new demo yet (still playing astral) but first demo u can just replay all mission whenever you want
Yeah you can take out 60-70% of it's HP with a good shot
We better be able to
Does anyone have a picture of every decal in the demo? Not just the ones you take pics of, the cheevo ones too.
not braindead enough for most of them
quick confirmation : anything we got in the prologue got carried over in the full game?
i probably start it early next week
Yes. This is like the Dragon Quest XI S demo where it's literally just the beginning of the game but it prevents you from going beyond a certain point. Everything you do in this demo can be carried over once the full thing is out.
I don't have a pro controller yet.
are there any laser weapons in the demo? im getting a ton of attachments for them from gunfort but nothing to put them on
and has anyone figured out how to do this consistently keep pulling it off but have no idea what im inputting to do so
Judging by the demo the gameplay feels a lot more smoother and faster but the story seems to be fuck all.
Might rent it.
oh, try to mess around with the option see if you can get a better combo for control
the customization in this game is nut
there are people who play mecha game for story?
how the hell do you deal with the choo-choo
i can barely catch up to the damn thing before it leaves the area, let alone kill it
How do you even keep track of all this shit. When I go for the reinforcement I get sniped from fuck if I know where and I randomly start descending, though that might be the joycon being shit
just put on the ui whatever you need
Haven't had the time to play the demo, how much did they improve from the first one? I know the changes from the video they did, but how do they FEEL?
just play it and figure out for yourself, clearly you have time posting on Yea Forums
>but the story seems to be fuck all.
Nigga who gives a fuck about the plot in a mecha game
I mean, good on them for banking so much on it that they're publishing a LN as well, but they know the main meat is in the gameplay and it shows with all the customization available, including the most versatile UI I've ever seen
If anything I'd hope that the plot would be some campy as fuck shit like Metal Wolf but I guess a more serious tone is more attractive to the general market.
a shame the game is gonna flop, it just had to release in the second worst window possible, losing only to "launching within two weeks of Pokemon"
It seems like probably has them all
I haven't heard of anyone finding a laser weapon, no
the flying AI do practically no damage and you can leave them for when it bubbles. nothing else to do during that aside from get missile lock-ons from what i can figure out
staying airborne slightly above the height of its legs is probably the safest place and still lets you shoot the knees and laser weakpoints when available. staying on the ground just seems too risky and the underside weakpoints are better taken care of by the laser when you break it off
and you might be dropping from running out of stamina? you have to turn off your boosters with L3 to start to fall, so either you're clicking that in by accident or the aforementioned stamina problem is happening
Mecha implies complexity.
Pure gameplay alone can't carry a game. Why play if there's no motivation.
I NEED more Front Mission. AC has always been meh to me, I like more dilberate mech combat, not the BOOST BOOST LAZER SWORD BOOST MEGA JUMP crap.
Pressing in the left stick is the default button to stop flying/hovering and begin descending. Maybe you keep pressing that by accident.
Dank, thanks
Hope so, I just hope the framerate is better than it was in the demo.
monster hunter begged to differ, and the motivation is better gears/ different mech and playing online with and vs other people
and i have already went out of my way to not recall the most obvious game of all time : tetris
if you mean the first demo, the framerate's already better; keeps a stable 30 at the very least
Prologue demo's out on the eshop if you want to give it a try
>the flying AI do practically no damage
Not when you're a sitting duck while trying to aim a giant laser they don't. I've failed that mission more than once because I left them alive while going for the laser.
which demo?
This 180 in opinion from demo 1 to demo 2 is honestly amazing. It's weird to see how far they've come. Especially the framerate.
Beating enemies is motivationn. Or what do you think bloody palace is
Also memory is different than weight. You can actually get faster with less weight adding wrapon to your pylons still add to your weight.
I tried using dual smgs no pylon, no shoulder weapon it gives you more speed
because demo 1 is super outdated, even for the time when it got released.
it was likely the very first stable build they got and they put it up for feedback, they actually brought later build to show off on gaming show and shit when they release that first demo
the problem is first impression often a double edged sword, the demo was meant to be for collecting feedback but a lot of people just see that and think that will be it
even in this thread today there are still people only talk about the first demo
no help?
i figured out that it derails itself if it receives a chunk of damage before it gets to the open area, but then theres so much fucking flak getting fired from it and all the cars, its just a matter of time before i die
am i missing something?
try speedy build to catch up with thomas
I haven't heard anything about anyone beating it. It just might not to be possible to solo with the equipment available in the demo. We'll probably have to wait for the full game.
fuck yea its possible! FINALLY fucking did it
granted i had to cheese the hell out of it and then only managed to win as the pilot with one shot left.
the thing really doesnt have a lot of health so the pilot gun can actually kill it if you stay up on the rocks and get lucky that none of its random dakka dakka hits you
its the unique flying AI around it that are the problem. things are chunky and deal constant damage to you
after it derailed i ran back and dealt with all the other cars it leaves behind and the Arsenals that pop up. theres one healing station all the way at the start
from there i had to just constantly build up Femto and Mirages to pull fire away from myself and even then just barely cutting it. i dont know what stopped the missiles the thing constantly fires, but if my random firing or the Mirage didnt somehow take it out, it wouldve been another failure
nice, did it drop anything?
Anyone else notice inverting your camera y axis has the opposite effect on the motion controls.
>Pull stick back to look up
>tilt controller down to look up
What the actual fuck is this shit.
Bullet-Resistant Coating attachment and 25% towards a blueprint for a missile shoulder weapon
the attachment adds 10.2 bullet resist, which doesnt seem like a lot but i guess if you put one on each body piece thats 50 in total which may be good...?
missiles are far stronger than the one you get for free.
> new: 360 direct / 100 splash
> old: 140 direct / 60 splash
with a max salvo of 12 missiles. only has 48 ammo though compared to the free one's 120. think it'd be more useful because i keep forgetting to fire the damn things anyway and have never used all 120 missiles
The motivation is that the game is fun
thats it i give up, immortal keeps his name and i can stop acting like im playing with an usb steering wheel
The way they implemented the gyro seems based on the right stick. The gyro also moves the model around in the menu. So when you invert the y-axis on the stick, it also inverts the y-axis on the gyro.
That's the worst possible implementation of the gyro.
Even splatoon just doesn't invert the gyro because its already intuitive.
dang how does he do the soft landing at 0:10
fucking japanese
VERY fast jap moving at incredible hihg speed
what's even the point when there's no competitive multiplayer?
maybe low weight? i know that affects the landing lag and such, but he was going down pretty fast. maybe jump boost right before you hit the ground
still. jesus christ.
I don't even know what he was doing in the beginning here
They're adding that after release.
Probably good to delay it since it gives them a bit of time to balance things.
I only really enjoyed Front Mission 4. Are there other similar games, even in the series?
Evolved was a completely different game, then I tried the first game remake on the NDS and it was shit, with every weapon having the same range from shotgun to rifle. Felt like there is no tactical depth.
>no competitive multiplayer
seriously? I was really hoping to get some of this action in youtube.com
>Was hyped for Astral Chain
>Daemon steals the show for me
Hope the co op missions are abundant. I wanna have a good time
I watch the Changes trailer and they added a part into the game that adds auto lock-on which even turns the screen and this was requested by players of the game. What the fuck, are you guys really that casual? Shit like this will ruin any form of competitive multiplayer.
As much as I love what I've played of the demo, I've played through Astral Chain and I'd definitely prioritize it. That is unless you're more in the mood for mecha game. In that case you do you.
Or:
Any decals homie?
there will be pvp adding in later, they said it back at e3
Nah they're adding it later
Astral would give me a shorter run for my money I imagine. Platinum games tend to be short, plus it does not have online
This does have online so I can play with others on the hype train
Money and time. I can just pick up the one I miss later; it's more likely to be on sale and there's probably gonna be a gap in decent Switch releases in a few months.
I did the voucher dealio just for this because I wasn't sure which I'd like. Got both for $70 after stacking discounted eShop cards and cashback
Oh good, i've been missing these kinds of PVP matches youtube.com
So how does blade cancelling work
mobile.twitter.com
You boost during the wind up of the blade attack. Allows to the chain boosts and the boost direction faster than normal.
Anyone know if there's a decal anywhere in the mission where you meet those gothic lolita chicks?
>can't replay the story missions
Damn it I wanted more Red Dog parts
7 days
Four is cute!
Oh interesting, I thought it was for cancelling cooldown
It's about 15-20 hours long. Take that as you will.
Sounds like Austin Walker (the vice guy who shat on astral chain) likes dxm
If this was on PC I'd buy it in a heartbeat, enjoy it Switchfriends.
Marvelous is publishing in japan, so a PC port might actually be possible
It's because it doesn't have cops to project onto
bump?
mobile.twitter.com
Dis nigga pretty good
I want to get it but September is too stacked right now.
I'm hoping it doesn't die too hard, theres a bunch of other games coming out around this time
So I broke the gun off the spider. Can I use it in any way or does it just sit there looking pretty?
You have to stand on top of it, press a, aim it, and press the fire button. Aim for the Gunfort's underbelly. It has the most weak spots and it can take out 50-70% of its health.
Ah thanks
how do you get the blade
Loot it off of arsenals
Game is fun so far. Even Ordered those Hori joycons.
Holy fuck how do I make controls that feel good I don't know what I'm doing
weapon fire on the shoulders
boost and shoulder on triggers
ascend/descend on X/B
you might want to set assault femto on its own button
Also, how the fuck do I manually reload
I think you hold fire and press A
Oh it was the inverse order of what you said
>I think you hold fire and press A
The reverse, hold the reload button down then press the fire button on the weapon you want to reload
>not killing spider boss with just 2 swords
Which red dog part is the best?
I just picked the boosters not knowing how to use it.
REMINDER IF YOU HIT UP AND DOWN ON THREE D PAD YOU SWITCH FEMTO FORMS
ARMS IS MORE ATTACK
BIG WINGS IS FAST BOOST
CIRCLE AROUND IS A SHIELD
THESE THINGS INCREASE SPEED OF GAMEPLAY DRASTICALLY
What the fuck did they do to this thing? I tried it once and it went spastic and flung me into the instant death barrier.
Anyone who says this is to easy needs to be punched.
Damn that looks so fucking cool
With those pathetic cartoony visuals it should be possible to run on a PS2.
thx
>-shields ain't actually fo pussies
What's the point of the second sword?
sorry for shitty twitter video
Anyone else find the cut to black when you beat a boss really jarring?
>Try the multiplayer part
>The garfront boss is anti fun boss compared to the first demo where here's 10 times as fast and instead of being comboed against the map barrier you just instantly die
>Nearly run out of ammo and need to use every healing tank to beat it
What the fuck?
How bad is the second boss?
kinda a fucking nightmare. You really have to keep on its glowing damage dicks to deal enough solo. The small enemies swarm too fast to even deal with i found.
I could have probably grinded for better parts in the free missions but I got it down with the basic shit eventually.
What armor did you get? I ended up grinding the Osafune stuff (Minus the legs) and still got slapped around. It doesn't help I can only use the boost and fire button separately though.
It makes my battles against enemy mechs just slug fests.
Do SMGs work better than pistols?
but then again, why shield when you can boost?
no idea i wasn't paying attention lul
I tried rifles and they weren't nearly effective. don't know about pistols.
the femto shield can be useful when you're sitting in a healing tank
I still have no idea how the femto stuff works. Do I just switch to the thing and it passively boosts my stuff?
