That's way too minimal.

Souless.

thread number 6
game drought so big snoys have to celebrate new cover art for old games

they look like movies

>minimal
nope. kys

That PEGI logo that clashes with every color scheme.
Truly.... beautiful....

They look like something you'd buy from someone on the street of Time Square

>b..blame sony for following the law

Now design one for Death Stranding

For once I agree with this

last of us looks good, bloodborne looks passable, the rest are dookie

Are...those sleeves?
I used to be a sucker for special boxes, now I avoid them like the plague. They dont mix with the rest of your collection , and after the honeymoon phase they stick out like a sore thumb

Zoom into the image, retard

Those are pretty good desu.
I'll dump some book covers with similar art.

>exclusives are okay only when sony does it

Attached: Untitled_1.jpg (634x738, 300K)

That looks like a shitty double page ad in a magazine, not like a movie poster.

After a while this negative/positive space trick wears thin and just looks boring, especially when everybody rush to copy it. It just looks like a fad now.

Is whipeout good? I could go for some space racing.

Some of this look much better than the normal ones, because it's generally just a guy walking away.

>so out of new exclusives that they have to start repacking old games again
Wtf happened to sony

Attached: JPEG_20190905_042010.png (570x570, 290K)

As I look down the thread, these become less and less interesting and more samey. Just the same idea recycled over and over.

Attached: orangeblue.jpg (1134x950, 712K)

In a way that's sort of the point, any single one taken on its own can be quite neat, but collectively despite coming from different sources, times, even mediums in some cases, it forms a fairly visually consistent collection which is really nice. Varied covers are just as impressive when there's some heart put into them, but a minimalist cover that still captures the tone of the product well enough makes for something a bit more collectible and displayable as a unified group.
It's not for everyone, far from it, but it's wonderful for the collector types and people who might have a bit of ocd or just an affection for clean aesthetics

those are real what the fuck?

Attached: 1554658990652.png (655x567, 544K)

Right, but the point of these covers is that they use very conceptual art.
They manage to make figures that represent the core of the movie/book with other things.
For example, my fav one is the lord of the flies, which representes the head of the pig and the sun in the background is used as the pig's eye.
I dont know, i find these very interesting and i can tell the person behind these is very creative.
Also

>sony starts marketing their games like movies.
This shit writes itself.

> it forms a fairly visually consistent collection which is really nice
Eh, I guess I'm not into uniform covers like that. I do like covers to be different and unique. These "collection" style covers just screams "factory made product" to me. I hate how just about every corporation tries to shove that shit down my throat, alongside trying to ensnare me into their "ecosystems".

>she

I totally disagree with you.
Those covers are very unique.
I know the artstyle is the same (very minimalist), but the fact that they use various components to form an image makes them very special, atleast in my opinion.

>cohesive sleeve designs for Greatest Hits
>good idea
>those designs
>bad idea
it was a nice try, but executed poorly
that looks like amateur deviantart shit

It's just a silhouette within a silhouette creating another silhouette of thing appearing in the movie.

I especially like this one , where Boba Fett is so prevalent, you might think he plays some huge role in the movie, when in reality he's on the cover only because artist just thought the cloud city just looks like his visor and fans like him for some superficial reasons.

>that looks like amateur deviantart shit
i actually thought these were amateur deviantart shit

it probably be do, amigo

>DUUUUUDE OUR GAMES ARE LIKE SO MATURE LOOK AT MY MINIMALIST REDDIT COVER

That's okay man, I get where you're coming from, like I said it ain't for everyone. I like them myself, but I probably like the originals equally. The main problem arises when it's kind of just haphazard and doens't capture the feel of the product, I'd say that goes for at least a couple of these new PS4 game covers, especially bloodborne. It feels like they just took a random thing from the game that people will recognize and did a silhouette of it, instead of any real meaningful iconography. It feels like if a darksouls minimalist cover was just, an Estus Flask instead of The Dark Soul. It's there, it's from the game, but it doesn't really mean anything.

> thatedward scirssorhand cover
lmao

These look ugly, but people with bad taste who wish they had good taste will buy the whole set and display them proudly.

this is how you minimalist

Attached: 4976219020442-1_waifu2x_art_noise1_tta_1.png (673x450, 516K)

Those are made be graphics designers, not actual artists.

I do get the appeal, but I just like more of an actual art there, I like it to be more meaty, like old times.

Attached: file.png (800x1449, 2.19M)

I don't like them, but they appear to be sleeves so perhaps it's the regular box art underneath.

ICO

this

Retro game art is really damn good, it feels like minimalist cover art of those would be totally pointless considering the style these exuded being such a huge part of the appeal. But with modern games, again Bloodborne is an example here with it's original art instead, it's all quite samey and they SORT have some of the game's style, but it's largely just character-in-a-cool-pose-with-a-weapon, and either scenery to the sides or a giant monster/enemy behind them. Honestly, Bloodborne's minimalist cover sucks but the original is only better on the fact that it shows more of the game's tone but without any real originality in how it goes about that.

There was some fan-cover designed in a thread upon the reveal of the official cover art for Cyberpunk, with a dark black and red shot of the gun being put up the red-eyed-mechanical-faced punk's head from the trailers/demos with a stark red title on the side of it, looked damn cool but I don't have it anymore, beat the fuck out of the real one.

Spiderman's is good because it's instantly recognizable
SotC's is also good because it properly evokes the feeling you should get from the colossi, as these dark, ominous creatures
the rest is just tryhard crap

The wipeout cover is the only one that looks good

>PS4 games
sounds about right

Minimalism is so gay and played out. I don't want my box art to look like IKEA furniture.

Only if you don't have any idea of what minimalism is

All of these "minimal" covers suck, like seriously

That Ratchet cover is really phoning it in. Rest are good though.

and the only one who could actually get away with it since they already had that kind of style going on

Attached: 443545-metal-slug-3-xbox-one-front-cover.jpg (720x1080, 176K)

It was my favorite contrast before every movie started skullfucking us with it. It's not just the cover art either, they put this shit into the actual films as well. REEEEE

ew

Absolutely fucking stupid, another dumb faggot idea from California. The only games on there I want to play is Ratchet and SotC.
