You can't really compare them in content. Terraria's content is fixed in that sense that the bosses you face and the items you get are always the same, this one rather focuses on template bosses and randomly generated items. The only thing you can compare is how long these things can keep you entertained, with a lot of unique content being obviously better than a million times the same color swap.

You'll have to wait until the game is out for a clear answer.

there was modded pvp in the alpha, there's probably regular pvp in by now too.
even then you can grief the same way you would in an mmo by pulling a bunch of mobs to people

PVP was one of the things he wanted to add and bombs are a thing and the mage gameplay showed that you can destroy leaves on trees. So if you want to make things hectic for people, try to use bombs to blow up blocks they would need to stand on. Some dungeons even have platforms you need to jump on to get across lava, so if you could destroy those, that would mess them up a lot. I hope he allows us to go nuts.

Woolay is actually just a decent guy that got pressured into it and then decided that it was better to take the game fully down so that people didn't get the wrong impression of it before he was really ready to release it. That and he needed to fully remake the game in 64bit for what he wanted to do. So the constant update thing most early access would try just couldn't have worked anyway.

Yeah, he did. He's fully changed how the glider works as well, it's more in line with a real life glider now. If you are good and have a lot of stamina, you can still go pretty far. There is less need for the glider as a means of getting around the world though, since there is now teleports, flight masters and mounts move much faster.

It was always super fun and showed a lot of promise. People have wanted a procedural generated open world RPG for a while and Cube World seemed like it was going to deliver. Starbound was nothing and went on to be nothing. It's not so much that it lacked updates, the entire progression system was just bad from the start and it's no wonder it didn't get any better. The way it could have redeemed itself is if it had taken more lessons from Terraria, but alas, it didn't.

Cube World was fun even in the alpha, it just didn't have a lot of content to keep the game interesting for long.

This, it's pretty much the major thing that Woolay focused on. That's why the quest system is the way it is. You can run into an NPC in the wild who will tell you about anything. From wanting to kill some enemy on a hill, to having left some kind of artifact some place, or things like the Steel Empire moving in and placing mana pumps in some area and now you have to go destroy it or suffer from constant lesser mana regen.

Good thing it seems like area sizes are much less. The map has them sectioned off now, so you see where areas end and they don't go nearly as long as alpha did. He also says that he's completely changed the equipment system and how things drop from enemies. So scaling should be less out of control.

There is also the steel empire, which is a new thing, they are trying to suck out mana from the world for their own ambitions and you'll be able to find out what those are in your encounters with them. I think it will still be pretty different. So far it didn't seem like Hytale was focused around cooldown abilities and instead you just kind of have a normal attack, defense and some kind of charge attack for the melee stuff. Who knows how melee will work.
