I did write stories for a few VNs. Not single handedly of course but I wrote like 80% of the dialogue trees and narrative. The other 20% is largely just editing.

It's art that's the hardest part. You need some solid art to compete.

Reminder: If you're making something, don't prejudge yourself. Don't call your own art, writing, music etc shit. Let other people do that, and take feedback from them.
If you hate what you've made and you never show it to anyone, it's the same as never having made it in the first place.
What's most important is getting something done, learning from it, and making something new. The most important part of that is motivation.
