Too much action, literal meme plot of the president's daughter has been kidnapped

QTE dodging was good, the boulder/statue shit wasn't bad enough to dock it a point. Ashley is not a problem either unlike 99% of the escort quests in video games. The real problem with RE4 was how they absolutely shat the bed with the level design after the castle levels.

The final chapter just doesn't hold up - like in many RE games.

Ashley wasn’t that bad, honestly.

Ashley is a shining example of how to do a good escort mission. She doesn't run off on her own, listens to you, and can even hide in a trash bin to be invincible. You're nuts. The only issue I have is not fitting the super salvador in the main campaign as a boss fight.

The village was creepy, the castle was spooky and then you get to the island and it just becomes a generic action game.

Krauser fight was the only good part

QTEs were fine and Ashley is probably the least annoying escort mission in any game ever.

The QTEs are fun

Heavy Rain
The fucking voice acting is wildy inconsistent.
>NOHMIN JAYDEN

Ashely is literally a non issue since you can tell her to hide in most cases and she aint in half of the fucking game.

However the TE during cutscenes are indeed ass. i just want to watch the cutscene.

A game that could have been an easy 10/10 was Call of Juarez: Gunslinger. Those endings were all bad and having a proper final level against the man who ruined your life would have been much better.

He's not in smash

I rated it 1 star because it didn't come with a platinum trophy.

>retarded story
>leon is now a generic action hero
>qtes
>escort sections

a 10/10 if it wasn't for the graphics, gameplay, combat, and various game breaking glitches that vary with each version

>couple of skills are mandatory to proceed
>certain O/S upgrades are useless
>floaty movement

The retarded story and Leon as an action hero were both great, retard.
>survive a horde of parasitic mexican villagers equipped with chainsaws
>Where’s everyone going? Bingo?
classic

>RE games have a retarded story
Color me shocked.

ORIGAMMY KILLER

The QTEs aren't even that bad, especially for the time. Nor is Ashley, especially since the game is pretty generous with ways to keep her out of the way and she's not even with you for most of it.

The only reason I would mark down the game is because the castle is overly long and isn't that great. Its good but it drags on real long. Every time I replay RE4, I never look forward to the castle.

Having to constantly pause switch weapons, grenades, use health. Shuffling 2x1 rectangles around is only fun if you're braindead.

This, though the regenerators and Krauser redeemed the island somewhat

We're they french canadian or something cause the english just sounds off and that
>ORIGAMMY KILLER
is a perfect example

I think they were actually French actors who just spoke a little English

>combat is passable for 50 hours max, but the game is 70+ hours
Witcher 3. Can't upload images while phone posting on this ip range

Ashley is not that bad. RE 4 is literally the only game in the existence that is excelent, even if the game have scorting missions. Ashley always hide behind you and try to never get in your way while aiming. And QTE are not that bad.

For another hand, fuck survivors AI in this one.

This. Island sucked.

>hating on Ashley's AI
youtube.com/watch?v=B6gLxdwoEGc

Fucking faggot frogs

Island would have been better if there was more stuff like the Regenerator. Obviously not more regenerators because that would just cheapen their existence, but we needed something on par or near them in terms of unsettling the player.

All it needed was actual level design. The truck segment was awful, as was the MIIIIIKE segment.

how is this game a 9/10
it has a pretty good gameplay but it gets really repetitive and starts going downhill in the palace(?) section
it was really forgettable

>Hollow knight

>Slow progression makes early game replays a slog

>lighting system was removed becasue of the console ports
>level design is stupid sometimes
>ADP

That’s because other people than you have good taste. Played it for the first time this year and had a blast.

enemy design is repetitive as hell, too many weapons that are the exact same with barely different movesets.

game becomes way too easy as you get more hp/estus flask gets too powerful.

dodging starts later in the roll animation so it's more about knowing the hitboxes and timings rather than reflexes.

hitboxes are terrible.

The fuck were you doing in 04? Literally everyone played it back then even if they didn't have a PurplePurse

I didn’t have a GameCube. Family was tight on money back then.

you could apply those criticisms to any souls game, though i guess i can agree with the estus/gems giving infinite heals. DaS2 was much more RPG-ish than the other games. 3 was absolute shit because they may as well have just axed the stats element completely.

Should have gotten a summer job lazybones

Me neither, lived in a third world shithole. Played the pirated PC version at a silky smooth 15 FPS (fun fact: the boulder QTE is unbeatable if your FPS is low enough) and still loved my time with it.

This is why I'm proud to be an American.

Fucking Americans... In Europe this was a PS2 game nobody played it on Gamecube HAHAHAHA

Yeah, well in America we all played the much better looking GC version with our awesome chainsaw controllers.

typical american loving their nintendildos.

The QTEs aren't bad. You can control Ashley pretty well. Level design and some enemies being boring sucks ass.

Great fucking game, and has held up very well. Capcom tried to copy paste the success of this for RE5 but it didn't work out well, playing with AI that can actually make "decisions" was a bad move.

>markers don't stick on moving targets
>some badge notifications glitch and don't appear even if you accomplish them (mission results still show you did it though)
>the city level/mission 11 can occasionally get buggy in the second half with actor behavior

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 219K)

I thought the QTEs were fine and Ashley's AI was very good for an escort. Now, what stops it from being a 10/10 is
>Island Pre-Regeneradores
>Bulldozer segment
>Mike's segment
>They keycard area after Mike and the last Regenerador
I don't hate the island as much as a LOT of people on Yea Forums, but it has the most glaring faults.

>DaS2 was much more RPG-ish than the other games.

true but fucking with the hitboxes is why I never bothered to beat any of the DLCs or pick up SotFS which didn't fix that shit at all

Ashley is a good inclusion and the game would be worse without her.

Leon is basically a god in RE4. Ashley exists to add actual stakes/tension.

Did the amount of armed enemies ruin the island? I actually enjoyed the aesthetic of a stormy island fort, but I think the amount of guns involved just reduced all horror and mystery elements down to nothing.
And yes, the Krauser 'fight' was 100% kino

>continuing after death takes fucking forever
>saving the game takes too long as well

Attached: 1553642895611.jpg (800x679, 183K)

>no companion system like fallout or maybe gtav
>not on pc

Attached: Red-Dead-Redemption-2.jpg (1524x1899, 447K)

Just beat this and I enjoyed it enough to overlook most issues, until I got to the end. Might've been a 9 until the last few levels, but those made me want to rush to the end of the game so I could just get it over with. Anyways, other flaws are:
>often SHODAN would start talking while you're in the middle of listening to a log
>would also start talking in the middle of combat
>Rickenbacker is meh
>Body of the Mass is absolute shit and turns into what is essentially a shitty Doom level
>you get thrown cyber modules and nanites at you near the end, but there's nothing to do with them at that point
>ending is goofy and doesn't fit the tone of the rest of the game ("Nah")

Everything after the village is shit.

>main game is too easy
>recycles level themes too often
>weak side content
>on the 3DS

Attached: Robobotboxart.png (315x315, 301K)

One of my favorite games, but there's far, far more flaws than these. I actually wouldn't have thought of these when listing the game's flaws. Anyways,
>the entire inverted castle is a chore to traverse through
>the same song is repeated throughout the entire inverted castle
>game is way too easy to break (there are dozens of smaller issues that contribute to this)
>many rooms are just straight hallways

i dont have a problem with any of those. maybe they could have placed more music in the inverted castle since they obviously had tracks in the OST that aren't really used in the game

Sonic Generations
>final boss is absolute ass. Feels like a punishment for beating the game instead of a cathartic reward

Ashley spends 90% of the game's chapters kidnapped or elsewhere so she's hardly an issue. is 100% correct, the Island onwards went full on Hollywood action thriller and made the game worse.

What about Silent Hill 4? You can give a gun to the woman who follows you around and she'll get infinite ammo from it. She also can't die.

the bugs and cut content

Funny how QTE's were so highly praised back when this came out because it was one of the 1st games along with God of War that heavily used them. I don't really mind them even on repeat playthrough they don't happen in cutscenes that often.
>Leon help
Ashley doesn't and has never bothered me honestly. The game is really good about her staying behind you and getting out of way or actively ducking below your shots. The game is also good about giving her convenient hiding places and she is not even with you for probably half the game.

Yu Suzuki would like a word with you.

Don Bluth says hi
youtube.com/watch?v=C-dg4J9_nes

QTEs aren't really offensive on game-ruining. They're not a good addition either, Simply they justify Leon doing really cool things outside of the control scheme so basically they add indirectly to the style of the game. It would've been better if you could do it with the normal controls aka remove all QTEs but at this point you're asking for too much.

Pretty sure the original didn't have button prompts like that. If I remember correctly the game just acted like it had regular game controls, i.e. direction movement to move the character and an action button to perform actions, and the player guessed which one to push and when to pass a screen. In other words, it's not really QTE, it's just terrible controls.
